Since I am new to Naples, and needed a repair to my BMW X5 I had to do a bit of searching to find a shop to repair it. After checking out quite a few shops, I finally settled on Debold Automotive. I found their prices to be reasonable, their work first class, and they ever provided a BMW courtesy car for my convenience while my car was being repaired. Took my E350 (2007/ 55,000 miles) in to have CEL (check engine light) diagnosed. O'reilly had run the codes for "free" and I showed them pictures of the trouble codes. Was told they would have to run their own tests and would charge about $100. BTW.....it is less than a minute to run the codes again. They said their equipment was better. Hard to believe since it is basically a reader not a computer. I am a EE and know the difference. Then told, we need to go deeper to diagnose the issue (another $100). So far I am ok with this. Then told the engine has a balance shaft issue which will cost a bit less then $5,000 to fix and not uncommon for that engine. At that I decided to take the car back and do my own investigating. Low and behold, according to a Mercedes tech with 30 years experience the balance shaft issue was resolved in 2006. I have a 2007. Also found the Mercedes Tech Service Bulletin (S-B-03.30/08i) and found my cars engine serial number on line. This revealed my engine was built 200,000 engines (and 7 months) after Mercedes fixed the problem. Hmmmmm! Bottom line is that the problem was fixed for about $400 vs the $5,000 quoted. When I went back to Debold to tell them, they said the TSB is not always correct.....another Hmmmm. I mentioned it was written in 2009 and is now on revision 9. For those who are told your repair would be about $5,000 I would say beware. Nobody is perfect but you may want to get a second opinion. read more

Looking for reasonable honest mechanic for Mercedes in Naples? KEEP LOOKING! Dear Scott P(owner) --old adage -- 10 happy customers may tell 1 person about you, but 1 unhappy customer will tell 10 people about you. Guess which one I am? I brought in my Mercedes to you for a a new water pump today(out of town). I called my mechanic in my hometown and he gave me an idea what it should be parts($220 or so, labor($3-$400) etc. While your labor # of hours and $ was close to his estimate, your parts price on the water pump was a blatant attempt to extract(i.e f me) an extra $300 from me vs what my local mechanic said it should be. OK, maybe he had it wrong. Everyone is entitled to some profit, but I checked online and and the most expensive one was $250 vs the $510 you all wished to charge me. I then called one of your competitors near you and they told me on the phone without any prodding the price my mechanic said it would be $220/230 or so VS $510!!!! I told your floor person this and he begrudgingly said they'd take $100 off but no more. Maybe his hands were tied by you? I told him I am about as laid back as they come, but you all were trying to "f me" on the part price and you were going to watch $400 of labor go out the door. Your choice. I can't remember ever doing this anywhere for anything, but I walked! (Well, drove to your competitor). Note: I even mentioned to your floor person that my parents were moving to Naples in 3 months or so and have two Mercedes and still nothing?!?!?!? Incredible. Not only did you lose my business today - you lost their business and undoubtedly any "good will" and potential referrals from them. Dropped my car off for service and the windshield was perfect. Went to pick it up and the windshield had cracks in it! Asked the service manager what happened and acted like it was no big deal, said my insurance would take care of it. Guess he forgot about the deductible that I had to pay to correct the damage they did to my car. Will never, ever go back to Debold. Very bad customer service and satisfaction. read more

Took my BMW in for a diagnosis and estimation of repair to the Naples facility. "Eddie" the service tech adviser was very knowledgeable and customer oriented. Spoke with a sales (manager ?), another "Eddie", who tried to be helpful to my cause but seemed a bit unfocused that particular day. My vehicle's defect persists, as a service bulletin was issued but no recall was released. FYI, after speaking with BMW of North America, I learned they are NOT an authorized agent for BMW with regard to manufacturing solutions and warranty service, and a subsequent call to the shop confirmed this. Possibly a source for routine maintenance, but why suffer the somewhat inflated cost for what many other shops could do gratis or for less? read more

I've been searching for an experienced mechanic to work on my original 91' 300 SE Benz after being disappointed several times. Mike, the service manager was extremely helpful in not only properly diagnosing the problems I was having, but also fixing several nuisance issues that have plagued the vehicle for many years. Long story short(too late) Eddie the service manager stepped up and honored the national warranty on the battery. My lukewarm rating is a mixture of several experiences and visits. In summary, they do a good job with my Porsche....but DO NOT take your Jaguar there for service. They claim to have a Jaguar-certified mechanic....but they don't....which I learned the hard way---misdiagnosis which cost me well over $1,000. read more

Got a pre purchase inpsection from Debold in Naples, FL. First, they only charge $111 which I think is a great price. I brought in a 2005 BMW M3 which they picked apart. It only had minor problems but they were fast and gave me a detailed printout on what was wrong. Ended up purchasing the car and had piece of mind knowing they went through the whole car. I went into Debold Automotive after having concerns about being taken advantage of by another shop down the street. I recently had an oil leak concern that I had noticed on my garage floor so I went into the shop that I previously went to that is located on Airport Pulling Road near Carmax. That shop quoted me $1,300.00 plus tax to replace the valve cover gaskets and replace the breather hoses on my 2006 CLK500. I called up Debold Automotive and spoke to Michael and he told me it's a very common repair on that model CLK and we do it very often. He gave me a quote over the phone for $721.00 plus tax and guaranteed me that it will include everything that I would need for this job. He then invited me down for a courtesy inspection of the oil leak and to show me which parts I would be getting replace and where my oil leak was coming from. I drove down to his shop, met him, and his technician promptly pulled my car in for inspection. He invited me out into the very spacious and clean shop and showed me exactly where the oil leak was coming from and showed me the four breather hoses that he would be replacing also. While I was inside with Michael talking about my previous experience with the shop down the street, he had his technician do a complete 34 point inspection on my vehicle. The technician stated my car was remarkably clean for having only 98k miles on it and the only thing that he discovered was it needed front brakes. The other shop had my car a month prior and never made any note that my front brakes were in need of immediate replacement. I walked back out to the shop with Michael and his technician and he showed me how my front brake pads were severely worn and the front rotors were lipped. He alerted me how much it was a safety concern and gave me a price of $540.00 plus tax to replace both front brake rotors, the brake pads, and the brake wear sensor. I agreed and he said that he currently did not have the valve cover or brake parts in inventory and since it was the afternoon, he would have the parts in the morning and have it done by the following afternoon. I said that was quite all right and to take their time. He then offered his courtesy loaner BMW to me free of charge for my convenience. I said thank you and that's nice of them. He alerted me he would call me the next day once my car has been completed. I drove the loaner car home and received a call the next day from Michael at about 3:30 alerting me that my car has been repaired and is ready for pick-up. When I got to Debold Automotive, I noticed my car was out in front but looked different then when I dropped it off. It looked clean and spotless. I walked inside and asked if it was washed and Michael promptly said yes and that is a courtesy that we do for all vehicles that are dropped off for service repairs no matter if its small or large. When it was time to pay for my bill, Michael walked me thru my bill and nothing was out or the normal and everything was as quoted to a T. It was a very pleasant experience that I had with Debold Automotive and I alerted Michael that I would be letting all of my friends and family know about my amazing experience at Debold Automotive and how I will never return to that previous shop. Michael then gave me another business card for my personal self and alerted me that if I have any other problems in the near future, don't be afraid to call. It was definitely an great experience that I had with Debold Automotive and I look forward to using them in the near future with my other German automobiles as well. read more

I personally dealt with Mike and found it hard to believe he is at the front of this so called Germain Automotive experts, he has absolutely no clue or knowledge for cars and definitely big shiffers that like to stick u ...with outrageous fees obviously use to high end customers with no mechanical knowledge where it makes it easy for them to BS u and get away with it...here was my experience went in for a diagnose explained to them exactly what the car was doing and that I needed a very accurate and thorough diagnose being that they specialize in European cars I trusted they knew what they were doing and chose to bring it here rather than the dealership big mistake on my part well they said they would charge me 200 for a complete and thorough diagnose of which they did not do and on top of that got my car back with with a burnt starter that was in working condition when dropped off.. had no explanation of the problem wanted 250 dollars for putting 5 gallons of gas in my car and changing fuel filter not professional in any way nor were they helpful...amazed with there ignorance and care free for customers mean while I'm out 450.00 dollars problem not solved but worse because now I'm out a starter and had my car towed out of there....all I can say do not let looks impress you and fool you its nothing but that all looks no knowledge they feed from the wealthy innocent, that don't know any better... being mechanically inclined and the owner of a used car lot I am of no interest to them as a customer because obviously I know what parts and labor should cost ...and honesty is not there area of concern its all about the green....Very un happy customer and will spread the news to any body who ask me about my experience with Debold...never go there can not be trusted and will rob your money...please beware of them so that your not the next victim...we need to show shops they can not just do this to people and get away with it.... read more

I have 4 high-end cars that Scott and his team at Debold have been taking care of for a number of years. Alan, his service tech at the Corporate Sq. facility was practical and a superb technician and Scott( the owner) was attentive to my needs since I had recommended Debold to many residents at Bay Colony and the clubs to which I belong. About 3 weeks ago, I bought our 300 SLK Mercedes in for an oil change and replacement of front brake pads (Alan had told me when I returned from up north, the front pads would have to be replaced but the back pads were fine). When I went to the shop I learned that Alan was no longer there. They informed me that I not only needed front pads but also roters and rear pads. I questioned them about the rear pads since the car was only driven 700 mi since Alan told me the rear pads were fine. Nevertheless, I believed them but asked that they save and show me the pads when I picked up the car. When I then picked up the car they said they had thrown out the pads and were sorry. Two weeks later my 'Service B" indicator light came on my S550 Mercedes indicating I needed a oil change. Since we are seasonal residents in Naples we put on only about 1500mi/year per vehicle. I went back to Debold and was told that Debold changed their policy and they no longer would eliminate indicator lights UNLESS they replaced several other items that the Mercedes dealer recommends (cabin filter, etc.). I asked that Scott telephone me to discuss and he did not even give me the courteousness of a return phone call! One of the nice things about using Debold in the past was their practical and honest approach to repairs. Instead, they have monetarily become more like a car dealer with car dealer repair requirements and prices. They now hold you hostage. I guess they have to support their large overhead. I ended up going to Kurt's Automotive on Yahl St. who came highly recommended by a Porsche collector friend who also had a terrible experience at Debold. Kurt's did a superb and honest job. So much for ever using or recommending Debold!!! read more
