Screen shot of the first text I sent Dr. Knibb last Friday. This is what caused all the drama.
    Parry T.

The following is the review I submitted yesterday to the page for Dr. Knibb's clinic, Alamo Pet Care Clinic. I want to make sure that anyone who looks for reviews on her gets mine no matter which page they search: I had loved taking my 2 dogs and 3 cats here. The staff was very kind and I mistakenly thought that Dr. Knibb and I had a good relationship with open dialogue. She knew that I'm a retired advanced practice RN, so she didn't need to dumb things down or take time to give me long explanations.  Then at the end of last week my 15 year old Basenji took a steep decline and I was really concerned. I had to go to the office anyway on Friday to pick up prescription diets for all my animals, and while I was there I told one of the staff what was going on with my dog and asked to get some sub-Q fluids to administer to him.  I also told the staff that he was due for his allergy shot and I asked if they could draw it up to me and I could give it to him at home because I didn't want to stress him out by taking him into the office, but he was itching really badly and needed it. The girl said it shouldn't be a problem, went back and talked to Dr. Knibb, who said absolutely not, in spite of knowing that I could competently do it. But they gave me the fluids, meaning I could be trusted to stick a need in him the give him fluids to rehydrate him, but I couldn't be trusted to give him an injection of an allergy medicine that he has had multiple times with no problem. So I went home disheartened, and finally decided to text her and state my case without being angry or argumentative. So below is the text I sent her, to which she chose not to respond, as is her right:"Hi Deborah, I just have to let you know how disappointed I am that you can't trust me to give Danny a Cytopoint shot myself.   He is dying and I'm just trying to do whatever palliative care I can give, and it's horrible to have to watch him crying and scratching. I'm trying Benadryl but it's not worked that well in the past. I'm not going to stress him out by bringing him to the office, I just want him comfortable.  I've been an RN for 38 years so I know how to safely inject him.  I don't know what else to say. I at least needed to get that off my chest.  I hope he passes peacefully when that time comes."Then I called today to pick up his thyroid medication since I only had a day's supply left.  The receptionist put me on hold for a minute, then came back and told me that Dr. Knibb read what I sent her,and she was so angered by it that she wouldn't see my animals any longer. All they would do is transfer the pet's records to another veterinary office.  After feeling scolded and hurt I sat and thought for a minute and came to this conclusion:  this is hugely inconvenient at this time.  Even worse, my whole purpose in asking was defeated by her response, because now I have to stress him out and take him into a new vet to simply get his prescription refilled.  But I also have no desire to ever take another animal back to her if I have to walk on eggshells in order to be sure that my differing opinion presented calmly doesn't bruise her fragile ego and that it's impossible that I might have had a valid point of view that she doesn't agree with. I was also really put off that she didn't have the guts to tell me all of this herself, yet she was fine with letting a probably underpaid receptionist do her dirty work. To me that is the epitome of cowardice, and it also makes me think that she isn't that confident with her handling of the situation. If I had wanted to be a jackass in the situation, I was fully capable of doing that, but it's not how I do things.  So instead of acting out of anger or hurt I have to just turn the situation over to my higher power and forgive her, which I did. But I don't need to ever trust another of my beloved pets to her care ever affair.  That's the freedom I have in the situation.  But I also feel responsible for being honest and putting this out there so that I might spare some unsuspecting owner who might read my review from getting the same cruel and disrespectful treatment.  What's done in my situation is done. I just want to hopefully not have someone else repeat it. And if you're a client of hers and want to remain one, I suggest that you might want to think twice before you disagree with her or question her care or her decision on anything.  If you want more info email me at parryt@gmail.com and I'll happily talk to you. And Happy New Year to all. Below are screen shots of the texts that I sent to her. The first one was last Friday and the 2nd was the one I sent today after I was informed that she would no longer see my pets.

Dr. Knibb is a caring and very knowledgeable vet who has great empathy for her clients and how important our pets are to us. We came to Dr. Knibb with brand new puppies who were very sick with parvo and another virus. Thanks to Dr. Knibb, she helped us heal the puppies and have a full recovery. We were worried about the expense of treating pups but Dr. Knibb helped us balance home care with visits to get hydrated. Dr. Knibb is not only experienced in vet medicine but she has given us some great advice on training the pups so they don't turn into little gremlins. Thank you Dr. Knibb!

I know many people start a review by stating how much they dislike writing reviews,or seldom write them. Well, that is actually the truth . This is the first review of a vet I have ever done and I had many pets in my life , and many vets. Dr. Knibb in Alamo is honestly the BEST vet I honestly have ever had. The care she and her vet technicians and receptionists show is phenomenal. I have made last minute calls to see her and they always made a time for me to come in that same day. I lost my beautiful pet today they conforted me in my grief . I have used Dr. Knibb as my vet for over 4 years now and I have recommended her to family and friends. We all love our pets and it is such a blessing to find a very good vet with an EXCELLENT bed side manner , and most importantly a very caring doctor. I often joke and say , I wish more General Practitioners were like this Dr.:-) The comfort of having such a fine Vet is a huge relief especially when your pet is very sick. Dr.Knibb has called me many times to check on my sweet pets and how they are doing. I highly recommend Dr.Knibb and her wonderful crew at Alamo pet .

Thank you Dr. Knibb for fixing my leg

We came to Dr. Maag truly at the end of our rope--his hospital was the only one who would provide a reasonably priced emergency echo right away during a health crisis. This was followed by excellent care--Dr. Maag spent hours over the course of a year, figuring out the complex medication regime that would keep my little dog (born with a heart murmur) alive and happy. Dr Maag was very kind, smart, thoughtful and gentle both with my dog and the human that my dog brought with him. He was creative, competent and careful with his recommendations. He was collaborative, never pushy, and I felt like we made the hardest decisions together, taking into consideration all aspects and alternatives. My dog loved his staff and medical techs and they were so good at making a nervous doggie comfortable. I felt like both Dr. Maag and his staff were as sad as I was when we got to the end of a really good run with my dog. If your pet has a complex health condition and you want to be treated well and feel like you can trust your doctor and the staff, Animal Care Hospital is the place to bring your fur baby. A heartfelt THANK YOU!

I feel entirely comfortable with every vet and technician I meet--it's always clear they have thoroughly reviewed Coltrane's records before even walking into the examination room. During our appointment yesterday, vet tech Ana not only took incredible care of my pup, but she also patiently answered a handful of random questions I'd been saving up for our annual visit in August. Everyone on the staff is incredibly well-trained and knowledgeable. From a user standpoint, the technology is a game-changer. Being able to seamlessly schedule appointments through the app or get quick advice via virtual care--often saving us an unnecessary in-person trip--is a massive benefit. Vet care is a frequent topic of conversation among pet parents, and I always find myself recommending Modern Animal. While veterinary costs are high everywhere these days, the value here is unmatched compared to my previous vet. Having access to multiple locations across the Bay Area (especially crucial if an urgent issue pops up) combined with 24/7 virtual care makes it worth every penny. With their recent merger with Chewy--a company renowned for stellar customer service--I have high hopes that this exceptional level of care and community focus will continue. Highly recommend!

What initially raised concerns were fees that I felt were not clearly communicated. When I questioned the charges, I received explanations that did not adequately address my concerns. I escalated the issue as far as I could and was repeatedly told someone would call me back. That call never came. Over the course of weeks, I followed up multiple times by phone and email. I was consistently promised communication that never happened. Eventually, I received an email stating that if I had additional questions, they would be happy to call me. I immediately requested a call. Once again, no one contacted me. What bothered me most was not even the money--it was the complete lack of accountability and follow-through. This place gives off all the wrong corporate vibes: plenty of promises, scripted responses, and little genuine concern once an issue is raised. To be fair, there was one veterinarian who earned my trust. They treated my cat during her recovery and showed the compassion, professionalism, and care that I expected from the entire hospital. That veterinarian was the only reason I considered continuing to bring my pets here. Unfortunately, when the time came to make end-of-life decisions for my cat, I wanted nothing to do with this hospital. By that point, the lack of communication, empathy, and personal care had completely eroded my trust. What should have been a compassionate experience instead felt cold, impersonal, and disrespectful. I genuinely do not understand how this facility maintains such high ratings. I have received better communication, better customer service, and far more compassion from small, local veterinary clinics than I ever experienced here. If you are looking for a veterinary team that values communication, transparency, and treating pet owners with respect, I would strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. I regret choosing this hospital and wish I had taken my pets somewhere else from the beginning. The most frustrating part is that this entire situation could have been resolved with a simple phone call. Instead, I was repeatedly told someone would contact me, only to be ignored over and over again. For a business that cares for beloved family pets, that level of disregard is unacceptable. Margaret Simuro the "highest" contact where's my follow up you promised me multiple times? DONT GO HERE - over priced for what they give.
