Screen shot of the first text I sent Dr. Knibb last Friday. This is what caused all the drama.

The following is the review I submitted yesterday to the page for Dr. Knibb's clinic, Alamo Pet Care Clinic. I want to make sure that anyone who looks for reviews on her gets mine no matter which page they search: I had loved taking my 2 dogs and 3 cats here. The staff was very kind and I mistakenly thought that Dr. Knibb and I had a good relationship with open dialogue. She knew that I'm a retired advanced practice RN, so she didn't need to dumb things down or take time to give me long explanations.  Then at the end of last week my 15 year old Basenji took a steep decline and I was really concerned. I had to go to the office anyway on Friday to pick up prescription diets for all my animals, and while I was there I told one of the staff what was going on with my dog and asked to get some sub-Q fluids to administer to him.  I also told the staff that he was due for his allergy shot and I asked if they could draw it up to me and I could give it to him at home because I didn't want to stress him out by taking him into the office, but he was itching really badly and needed it. The girl said it shouldn't be a problem, went back and talked to Dr. Knibb, who said absolutely not, in spite of knowing that I could competently do it. But they gave me the fluids, meaning I could be trusted to stick a need in him the give him fluids to rehydrate him, but I couldn't be trusted to give him an injection of an allergy medicine that he has had multiple times with no problem. So I went home disheartened, and finally decided to text her and state my case without being angry or argumentative. So below is the text I sent her, to which she chose not to respond, as is her right:"Hi Deborah, I just have to let you know how disappointed I am that you can't trust me to give Danny a Cytopoint shot myself.   He is dying and I'm just trying to do whatever palliative care I can give, and it's horrible to have to watch him crying and scratching. I'm trying Benadryl but it's not worked that well in the past. I'm not going to stress him out by bringing him to the office, I just want him comfortable.  I've been an RN for 38 years so I know how to safely inject him.  I don't know what else to say. I at least needed to get that off my chest.  I hope he passes peacefully when that time comes."Then I called today to pick up his thyroid medication since I only had a day's supply left.  The receptionist put me on hold for a minute, then came back and told me that Dr. Knibb read what I sent her,and she was so angered by it that she wouldn't see my animals any longer. All they would do is transfer the pet's records to another veterinary office.  After feeling scolded and hurt I sat and thought for a minute and came to this conclusion:  this is hugely inconvenient at this time.  Even worse, my whole purpose in asking was defeated by her response, because now I have to stress him out and take him into a new vet to simply get his prescription refilled.  But I also have no desire to ever take another animal back to her if I have to walk on eggshells in order to be sure that my differing opinion presented calmly doesn't bruise her fragile ego and that it's impossible that I might have had a valid point of view that she doesn't agree with. I was also really put off that she didn't have the guts to tell me all of this herself, yet she was fine with letting a probably underpaid receptionist do her dirty work. To me that is the epitome of cowardice, and it also makes me think that she isn't that confident with her handling of the situation. If I had wanted to be a jackass in the situation, I was fully capable of doing that, but it's not how I do things.  So instead of acting out of anger or hurt I have to just turn the situation over to my higher power and forgive her, which I did. But I don't need to ever trust another of my beloved pets to her care ever affair.  That's the freedom I have in the situation.  But I also feel responsible for being honest and putting this out there so that I might spare some unsuspecting owner who might read my review from getting the same cruel and disrespectful treatment.  What's done in my situation is done. I just want to hopefully not have someone else repeat it. And if you're a client of hers and want to remain one, I suggest that you might want to think twice before you disagree with her or question her care or her decision on anything.  If you want more info email me at parryt@gmail.com and I'll happily talk to you. And Happy New Year to all. Below are screen shots of the texts that I sent to her. The first one was last Friday and the 2nd was the one I sent today after I was informed that she would no longer see my pets.

Dr. Knibb is a caring and very knowledgeable vet who has great empathy for her clients and how important our pets are to us. We came to Dr. Knibb with brand new puppies who were very sick with parvo and another virus. Thanks to Dr. Knibb, she helped us heal the puppies and have a full recovery. We were worried about the expense of treating pups but Dr. Knibb helped us balance home care with visits to get hydrated. Dr. Knibb is not only experienced in vet medicine but she has given us some great advice on training the pups so they don't turn into little gremlins. Thank you Dr. Knibb!

I know many people start a review by stating how much they dislike writing reviews,or seldom write them. Well, that is actually the truth . This is the first review of a vet I have ever done and I had many pets in my life , and many vets. Dr. Knibb in Alamo is honestly the BEST vet I honestly have ever had. The care she and her vet technicians and receptionists show is phenomenal. I have made last minute calls to see her and they always made a time for me to come in that same day. I lost my beautiful pet today they conforted me in my grief . I have used Dr. Knibb as my vet for over 4 years now and I have recommended her to family and friends. We all love our pets and it is such a blessing to find a very good vet with an EXCELLENT bed side manner , and most importantly a very caring doctor. I often joke and say , I wish more General Practitioners were like this Dr.:-) The comfort of having such a fine Vet is a huge relief especially when your pet is very sick. Dr.Knibb has called me many times to check on my sweet pets and how they are doing. I highly recommend Dr.Knibb and her wonderful crew at Alamo pet .

Thank you Dr. Knibb for fixing my leg

Thank you for truly caring about your furry patients and for never treating us like just a number at the DMV. Dr. Gannon performed a necrosectomy on my dog, Milo, after a faulty surgery at Berkeley Dog and Cat Hospital. She handled everything with care, precision, kindness, and professionalism. Dr. Armand and Dr. Longley are awesome, too. The whole team there is amazing at what they do! We're so grateful to have found this hospital in Danville. Dr. Longley is nothing short of amazing--detailed, compassionate, and always willing to take the time to explain everything thoroughly. You can truly feel how much she cares for each pet she treats. I have a mixed pitty/cane corso and a min pin. His previous vet had a flood and led me to find this place. My dog had been whimpering on and off throughout the day. We couldn't figure it out. I was imaging the worst, possible ate a toy and lodged in his intestines, but Dr Longley was very tactful and went by logical process of elimination and a few tests later with some probiotics/meds and new food restrictions- my baby is No longer whimpering and back to being a happy chill dog. Dr. Armand is another wonderful doctor on the team, and he offers holistic-style treatment options that are absolutely worth exploring. It's refreshing to have a veterinarian who can provide alternative approaches along with traditional care, giving you more choices for your pet's health and comfort. The front staff, Lina and Alicia, are absolute gems. They're caring, patient, and highly detailed in everything they do--whether it's scheduling appointments, answering questions, or making my dogs feel comfortable the moment we arrive. Their warmth and attentiveness set the tone for every visit. Nick, one of their incredible vet techs, is truly exceptional. His dedication goes far beyond expectations--he's even followed up on my dogs' well-being on his day off. That level of commitment is rare and speaks volumes about how deeply he cares. Even though Oak Tree PET HOSPITAL handles urgent care and emergency cases, they are fully equipped with the proper medical technology to provide high-level, efficient treatment. Their prices are extremely reasonable for the outstanding service, expertise, and attention they deliver. The facility itself is spacious, clean, and welcoming. There's plenty of room outside to walk your dogs after their visit, and the area feels safe and comfortable. Plus, the PetSmart right across the street is a great added convenience--perfect for picking up treats, food, or anything else your pet might need right after an appointment. This entire team is truly special. My dogs love it there, and I'm so grateful to have found a place with doctors, veterinary technicians, and staff who genuinely care about my boys. Highly, highly recommended!

Being able to seamlessly schedule appointments through the app or get quick advice via virtual care--often saving us an unnecessary in-person trip--is a massive benefit. Vet care is a frequent topic of conversation among pet parents, and I always find myself recommending Modern Animal. While veterinary costs are high everywhere these days, the value here is unmatched compared to my previous vet. Having access to multiple locations across the Bay Area (especially crucial if an urgent issue pops up) combined with 24/7 virtual care makes it worth every penny. My veterinarian recently went out on maternity leave. With no prior advance notice the manager contacted me and stated they would refill medication through the end of the year for both my dogs, however any veterinary care that was needed for either dog I would have to seek veterinary care at another practice. The manager was rude, and unprofessional when I tried to ascertain what the reasoning was for this. She made multiple comments stating that they've been trying to get me to leave the practice for many years. She also made a comment since she was trying to get my family member to leave the practice for many years. My family member has not been a client if there's for multiple years and she didn't even realize that. When I asked if that's why multiple misdiagnosis is medical errors, etc. have happened. She said yes we've been trying to get you to leave for years. That leads me to believe they've done things on purpose to try to make me mad enough to leave. When you put my animals at risk because you can't be a big girl and have professional conversations that to me is a zero star, but I have to give him one star to make the review. I have referred many people to this practice part of this, and I will never refer anyone here again.
