With my regular vet, they decided to try a steroid and she snapped out of it, better in a few days. She has since relapsed a bit and we have returned for follow up tests and care. Likes 1) Good communication and professional care. They try their best to explain to you what's going on. They are reachable and return phone calls. 2) Up front pricing. They give you a high end and take a deposit on that. They tell you what it could entail. 3) The office and the staff are calming. They know people are having a bad time and run a nice space with refreshment and some snacks. All the staff have been really nice. If you are even in Oakland/Berkeley etc., I would take my pet there before places closer to home.

The first few minutes were tough because I was in a panic and the front desk personnel was on the phone with a client. It was probably only 2 minutes but felt like an eternity. Once she helped us, every thing moved very quickly. The staff and vets were compassionate, communicative and efficient. They quickly got my pup's healing underway, sent us home with clear instructions and they sent a message to our regular vet. Also, the costs were very reasonable. I highly recommend Iron Horse if you find yourself in need. They're just around the corner from 99 Ranch on the Amador Valley Blvd side.

She's one of the very few…read morepeople they actually let handle them, and it's clear she treats them with such gentle, thoughtful care. She also takes the time to explain everything in a way that's easy for us to understand, which we really appreciate. One thing to keep in mind is that the clinic does get quite busy at times, so occasional follow-ups or callbacks have at times taken a bit longer than expected. We also really wish they had weekend hours or a bit more flexibility in their scheduling, especially since one of our cats has a chronic condition. It would make things easier to manage if we could stick with this team for all their care rather than bouncing between multiple clinics and trying to keep track of records. But the fact that our only frustrations come from wanting more access to their care really says a lot about how much we value and prefer this clinic! That said, we genuinely trust Dr. Luu and highly recommend her... she's been such a calming and expert presence for both our cats.

    * We rushed our dog to Sage Emergency in Dublin after he choked on a dental treat that got stuck…read more The X-rays showed that it was lodged at the junction between his esophagus and stomach. Dr. Beth Lieblick assessed everything quickly and chose the least invasive option first. After anesthesia, she was able to push the blockage down into his stomach so he could digest it naturally instead of going straight to a major surgery. Our dog stayed overnight for monitoring and came home the next morning safe and stable. Communication was clear the entire time, and the team was professional, calm, and genuinely kind during a very stressful situation. * In terms of cost, this is emergency care, so it is expensive. The initial diagnostic alone was around 1300 dollars. With bloodwork, X rays, anesthesia, the procedure, overnight monitoring, and medications, the estimate initially went up to 14000 dollars. The final total ended up being about 6600 dollars after adjustments. Even knowing emergency care costs more, it is still a financial shock when you are facing a possible life threatening situation for a family member. * We are giving 4 stars. The doctor and team absolutely deserve recognition for their professionalism and friendliness. The only reason we are taking off one star is the price. While we understand emergency care is costly, the numbers can feel overwhelming. Our advice is to get pet insurance if possible. If a bill in the thousands or potentially over ten thousand would be difficult, it is worth researching emergency options ahead of time. For us, what mattered most is that our family member came home safe.

Brought my cat into Sage Friday night as he was not feeling well. After running tests was told he…read moreshould stay overnight for observation/treatment and would need an ultrasound as the xray did not show anything conclusive. That night as I am checking out one of the staff members tells me they would have to call a specialist the next morning to do the ultrasound so after the procedure is done they would call me with an update. Agreeing with their recommendation I agreed to pay $6500 for the visit and the next day procedure. The assistant said with additional medication the cost could go to $8200 or higher depending on the finding. I should have asked for a list of procedures that were done and a breakdown of costs, but at that moment I was more concerned with the wellbeing of my family member. I called the next morning around 8am to check how my cat is doing. The person said the veterinarian is doing their rounds now so someone would call me back an hour or two later. I receive a phone call around noon and was told I would have to pay an additional $4500 for the ultrasound and with additional tests they recommended would in total be around $15,000. When questioned what was included in the $6500, I received a response of, "oh that was included." When asked why the ultrasound was not done yet, they said a specialist would need to be called as it was the weekend. When I told them that last night someone said that it would be done the next day, they said, "not sure why someone would say that?" I tell them that I want to pick up my cat to bring to another location. Upon arrival an assistant brings me my cat and promptly asks my to sign a waiver. When I asked who I spoke with over the phone that quoted me $4500 for the ultrasound, the assistant said the veterinarian. When I tell them to refund me the cost it suddenly became $1100. I told them if it was $1100 I wanted to go through with the ultrasound , BUT since I told them I wanted to go to another clinic, putting the iv in and what not back on him would cost more. At this point I feel like I am getting taken advantage of so I wound up leaving. Before I left I asked for a receipt showing what procedures were done to only get a email with a charge of $6500 minus the cost of ultrasound $1100. Bottom line this place seems more interested in taking your money than the health of your pet. I would highly recommend avoiding this clinic.

Peace of mind knowing my baby is loved and cared for immediately when I walked thru the door is just priceless. The surgical site did not heal properly, and we've continued spending additional money on medications, follow-up care, and X-rays because the issue still has not been resolved. What has been most upsetting is the lack of continuity of care and communication. Dr. Chaudhri is currently out of the office, and we were told there is effectively no escalation path for two days. We cannot even obtain our dog's X-rays or medical records promptly in order to seek treatment from another veterinarian. When a pet is still suffering after surgery, owners should not be left without answers, support, or access to records needed for continued care. We understand complications can happen, but the inability to reach someone who can help or authorize records during an ongoing medical issue has been extremely stressful and disappointing. I would not recommend this Vet for care. We've spent over $2,000 on care and still have a very ill dog. Lisa H

The day after we brought the kitten home, she developed diarrhea. I called to schedule an appointment, but they didn't have any "new pet" (one-hour) appointments available for over a week. I booked the earliest one, but asked if they could at least order a fecal test in the meantime. They said no. Instead, I was told to call the next morning to try for a same-day appointment, where a vet could then order the test. I called right at 7:30 am and was able to book a same-day 30-minute appointment for 10:30 am. Problem solved, or so I thought. Minutes later, they called back and canceled it. The reason: my kitten hadn't been seen before, so she required a one-hour appointment, which they didn't have available for a week!!! I explained that this was a stray kitten with active diarrhea and asked if she could at least be briefly seen, or if I could simply pay for a fecal test and treatment. They said that wasn't possible. Then they said they spoke to the vet, who would try to fit me in that same day but couldn't give a time. The vet had approved a 30-minute visit, so I rearranged my day and worked from home to wait for their call. At 10:23 am, they called back and told me they actually had no availability that day at all--and that I'd have to wait a week. Their only suggestion was to call again the next morning and try for another same-day appointment. At that point, it felt like a nightmare on repeat!

Instead it was Dr. Harinder Judge was the vet for that day. I hope he never takes this practice over because I will go elsewhere! The vet tech asked me the typical questions, she typed it all in then here comes the vet. He barely examined my cat, did NOT read the notes that were taken by the vet tech. We discussed possible chest xray, he suggested labs then giving antibiotics. When the vet tech came in with the "estimate" it was $1600. There was stuff on the estimate we never discussed! Long story short, he refused to do just one xray of her chest...he said "it's all or nothing." Then proceeded to say, "I'm not playing this game of let's shoot one xray just to go back & shot another." You only need one chest xray to see if pneumonia is present, not 3! I never asked for 3 lab panels, nor did we discuss it. Dr. Judge was extremely rude & disrespectful and is clearly ONLY money driven! I will ONLY take my cats there when Dr. Downes is there! Dr. Downes gets 10 stars! Dr. Judge gets zero stars!!!
