Service is so-so and food is generally overpriced. Irani chai is nice and for other foods, the taste/quality are good if freshly cooked, although some of the food can be unnecessarily too spicy. Sometimes the rumali roti is too cold or dry. Overall, more of a novelty experience since it's different than many of the Indian restaurants in the area. read more

The best Irani chai in town! Two former colleagues and I stopped by for tea after having lunch nearby, as they serve three types of tea - Sulaimani (no milk), Irani (with milk and spices), and Zafrani (like Irani but with saffron added). This establishment takes its tea seriously! The milk is kept separate from the tea liquor till it's time to serve. I had Irani chai and it was the best I've had in a looooong time. One of my colleagues had the same and took an extra cup home for his wife. My other colleague had the Zafrani, which was good, but had saffron added to the Irani tea (we could see it floating on top) versus brewing a separate tea liquor with saffron. My guess is it's expensive to brew separate Zafrani liquor as the local demand is not there and saffron is the most expensive spice on the planet ($1000 per pound for the low grade versions, well over $10,000 for the top grade ones). My wife and i visited this restaurant and tried out few dishes. The overall ambiance is nice and service excellent. They greet you with smile and have a welcoming atittude. First of all the chai is really good. Bun shami is a bit dry but worth a try. My wife really liked the Bun Maska. Rumali Roti is a speciality that you don't get in many restaurant. I heard good reviews about this restaurant and was excited when I heard they opened a new one in Pleasanton so I went on the opening weekend. They have simple menu which makes it easier to order and it is like we have to order the food and pick a table and then grab your food when it is ready. Almost everything is self serve. The prices are reasonable. My family and I ordered chai, chicken 65 with rumali roti and bun maska. Chai was good, definitely different than the typical ones. The chicken 65 is ok as it is semi gravy not the crispy dry one. The rumali roti is a thin layer and it is better to have it when it is hot. Bun maska is bread with butter in the middle a good combination with the chai. We got our food fairly quickly, and I liked that you could see the rumali rotis being made in the open kitchen. However, I was disappointed with the restroom. Since the place had just opened, I expected it to be clean and well-maintained, but it was quite the opposite. I really hope they address this soon. read more

TLDR: Food with a spicy kick and decadent dessert. Good saffron tea as well. - Onion Samosa has a nice kick to it. Good texture and ratio of filling to dough. - Lokmi has a bit of extra dough for the shape and it puffs up. Make sure to get some chutney with the bites of filling to bring it together. The chutney has a spicy kick. Not very gamey. - Bun Shaami is tender and juicy on the inside, and has a nice texture overall. Not very gamey. It has a spicy kick to it. - Zafrani Chai has a good texture like evaporated milk, and you can taste some cardimon. - Shaahi Tukda is quite sweet and decadent. I recommend having it with some tea. Everything was good, but my favorites were the Bun Shaami and Zafrani Chai. I wouldn't mind rotating the other items when I visit. Service with a smile rounds out the experience. You order at the register, get a pager, and pick up your food at the counter. read more

Deccan comes to Pleasanton! A much better ambience than their store in Fremont, the interior has been designed with a lot of thought. We got the usual - chicken 65 with rumali. The taste is the same, maybe a tad bit more color than their store in Fremont. Excited to see this addition to the food scene in Dublin/Pleasanton area. I loved the food at their Fremont location. Their food at their Pleasanton location needs some love. Their masala bun is my go-to dish here, but the bun was not as fresh as I would have liked. Their Irani chai was good. We also ordered the rumaali roti with chicken 65. The roti was hard. The chicken was not as good as I had at their Fremont location. They are growing the number of locations, and I hope that they will find a way to maintain their food quality and taste as they grow. read more

Just picked up chicken shawarma wraps and chicken 65 wraps from Pleasanton. The wrap size has gone down much smaller than what they used to have . The garlic sauce given was half of the container. The quality is ok, but the service has been deteriorated over time. It's almost being stingy to cut food short to almost half the size but for full price.
