While we have several Hyderabad-inspired biryani and kebab options in the Bay Area, I'd say Baithak is probably the best Lucknowi representation. This place is worth a try if you love some good authentic kebabs. On our first visit, we were so impressed and pleasantly overwhelmed by the Kevab and Tikka options that it took us another visit to try their lovely tasking "Lucknowi Chicken Biryani". Must have their mutton seekh and mutton shaami kebabs - tender and delicious! All three tikkas we tried were good, paneer, chicken malai, and chicken tandoori. I'd skip the chicken chapali, the other dishes are that much better. Overall a 5-star place and likely my go-to for kebabs in the near future. Give it a try! read more

We were a group of 7 and got a variety of items. This is the 3rd time we ate at Baithak. The ambiance is really good. The service was quick and all the food was great. We had the bread basket, dahi papdi, kurkure bhindi, the kabab platter, kadhai paneer, kadhai chicken, paneer paratha and dal tadka with jeera rice. If you're looking for authentic Northern Indian food, this place is worth a visit since the dishes are surely packed full of flavour. When you walk inside, I was getting Bollywood movie vibes. It was colourful, lively, and quite fun to eat in this environment. Portions were reasonable and the service was pleasant. I ordered the lamb chops served with naan and salad. The lamb was flavorful and tender. It had just the right level of spice. The cilantro chutney had quite a kick ~ definitely spicy! Had a wonderful experience at Baithak! We tried the dahi bhalla, chicken biryani, and tandoori chicken tikka kebab, and every dish was delicious. The dahi bhalla was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The chicken biryani was aromatic with tender chicken and a perfect blend of spices. Excellent North Indian cuisine, lamb chops and butter chicken to die for with generous portions. We came for lunch (party of 3) and elected to sit in the outdoor patio on a warm but pleasant afternoon. We ordered masala papad (very spicy and not for the faint of heart) some garlic naan and beef seekh kebab (comes with naan), followed by a very generous portion of the goat biryani ( which comes with raita and salan which is a tiny bowl of spicy curry sauce). So expects lots of dishes similar to Persian cuisine like kebabs and saffron rice along with classic Indian curries and tandoori dishes. I fame here for lunch while my car was being serviced and had to deduct an early start for seeing dirty napkins on a not-quite-full restaurant. The food itself was awesome however, so I'll definitely want to come back. One of my favorite chicken preparations go by various names - methi malai, malai, and Reshmi. Its normally yogurt marinated, sprinkled with herbs, and cooked in a tandoor or grill. Its white colored and looks plain but its super creamy and juicy. I was glad to order the kebab version of this which comes with soft naan, pickled veggies, salad, and a mint-parsley dipping sauce. Rice is extra so I went for the Persian-style yellow saffron rice. Like Berevino before it. they have a sizable bar with cocktails, mocktails, along with beer and wine. I can see it being a great dinner place. Finally got a chance to try this spot in Dublin, and I'm so glad we did! It's a North Indian restaurant with a Kids' Menu--which is rare and absolutely worth calling out. Most Indian restaurants don't offer kids menus (or even coloring sheets), so as a mom, this immediately stood out to me before even getting into the food. We went for a weekend lunch with friends. The outdoor seating area is fantastic--spacious, well laid out, and never felt crowded. Parking can be a bit limited, but there are plenty of Tesla chargers in the area (bonus for Tesla owners), and we were still able to find parking without much trouble. We ordered lamb chops, malai chicken, seekh kabab, items from the kids menu, butter chicken, dal makhani, and naan--plus beer and a milkshake. Meats: Overall excellent. The lamb chops and malai chicken were standouts. The seekh kabab was good but could use a bit more flavor or less flour/batter. Kids Menu: Huge win. We tried Maggi, cheese naan, fries, chicken nuggets, and a mango milkshake. Everything was flavorful, not spicy, and kid-approved. Entrees: The butter chicken was amazing. Everyone claims they've found "the best" butter chicken, but this one truly stands out in the area--comparable to Taj (Livermore) and Sanskaar (Livermore). I'd definitely order extra next time. Came here for the first time to try their food. One of the worst experiences I've had at an Indian restaurant. Horrible customer service. We ordered appetizers and it came 15 minutes later. We placed our order for the main course and waited for 25 minutes. Asked 3 people where our food was and everyone said it would come soon. We asked for the bill as we were running late. We paid and after 35 minutes, still no food. I asked for the manager and they said the manager was not on duty. Then the staff was rude enough to ask us why we paid the bill and the kitchen was backed up. They still hadn't made our food. We asked for a refund for the food they didn't provide. They said they did the refund. Will wait for 2 days. If it doesn't come through, will submit a claim to the BBB. There are so many other Indian restaurants in the Bay Area that have honest staff, pleasant customer service, and management that knows how to run their business. Baithak specializes in the kebabs and curries of Lucknow in North India. The cuisine here is meat-heavy and rich in dairy and spices, and the selection of breads is large and diverse. We started with the Chicken Malai Tikka, chunks of boneless dark meat chicken marinated in yogurt cheese and cooked to smoky perfection in a tandoor oven. The juicy charred meat was served over naan flatbread, along with kachumber salad, onions, and mint chutney. Lucknow is a city known for its biryani, and we tried the Lucknowi Goat Biryani, made of heavily spiced basmati rice with saffron covering large chunks of bone-in goat meat. The biryani was served with sides of raita (creamy yogurt) and salan curry sauce, which helped to balance out the flavors. But my favorite dish of all was the Awadhi Butter Chicken, made of boneless chunks of chicken tikka in a cashew tomato gravy made with khoya (dried milk solids) and cream. Needless to say, the curry was thick, rich, creamy, and luscious--a delicious indulgence! The Butter Chicken went nicely with the variety of flatbreads we ordered, including the thin and light Khameeri Naan (made with white flour) and Tandoori Roti (made with whole wheat flour). But my favorite flatbread was definitely the Warqi Parantha, a layered, flaky, and crispy flatbread that was perfect for soaking up the thick curry sauce. Visited on a Sunday evening with my family and it was surprisingly crowded, we got seated immediately and ordered a variety of apps and mains: daal pakwan, papad peanut masala, dark makhani, chicken seekh kebab, ajwaini fish filet, and garlic naan. The daal pakwan app was super tasty, whereas the papad peanut masala was underwhelming and lacking overall, and there were no pomegranates in it lol. The kebab was really tasty and well seasoned, the fish filet was lacking flavor and masala though. The dal makhani wasn't our first choice but they ran out of the baingan bharta, but the dal was tasty and indulgent and paired well with the naan. I'd heard about this place and finally got to try it Saturday evening. As we walked in, there was an event on the patio but the dining room seemed mostly empty. The lady checked if we had a reservation, which we didn't, but she seated us without hesitation and let us pick our table. We ordered some drinks to start, and although they were nice, rhetorical cocktail could have been colder. Chicken malai tikka came out as described and was delicious. The saag paneer and butter chicken followed and both were delicious in terms of freshness and spice levels were quite apt. The food is heavy and the 3 of us still had leftovers. As we sat, the restaurant started to fill up and we realized we had been lucky to beat the dinner rush. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting to try good North Indian food. We are glad we have another lovely Indian restaurant in Tri-valley. We went here on a Friday evening and the live music was on with 80s90s songs played by a talented vocalist/ guitarist. Out kid got his favorite crayons to draw and he was set. We ordered cheese pizza for him. It was tasty but spicy for a young child. I'd. expect it to be way less mild for kids menu. Our party of 8 arrived for an early dinner. We looked forward to see the transformation of the formerly Mediterranean/Italian Berevino venue into Baithak, a new Indian venue specializing in cuisine from Lucknow. The interior was bright, largely featuring some familiar decor. The restaurant was well staffed but was set up as largely self serve for utensils and water, plus self ordering at the entrance counter or through a QR Code at the table. The ordering process was admittedly confusing but the food that was served to the table was actually delicious! We ordered a variety from the menu: Lamb Nihari - excellent slow roasted Lamb shank, highly recommended Chicken Biriyani - nicely spiced, most and flavorful Salad with Beef Kababs and Lamb Kebabs - succulent and freshly flavorful, with crisp perfectly dressed greens Butter Chicken - tender, just lovely Naan - very buttery but missing fresh fluffiness we were accustomed to Kheer - nice sweet treat to end the meal Overall we were pleasantly surprised by the flavors of the food, particularly the meats and biryani. Discovered Baitak while driving and ordered many items. They were out of the mutton seekh kabab, so settled for the shaami kabab. Also ordered dal makhani, kurkuri bhendi and other items. The ambiance is way better than most Indian restaurants and the food also way better taste wise, particularly the items above. The Chole Bhature were so-so. The shami was soft, mildly spiced to perfection and fried in appropriately little oil or ghee, so that it was not at all greasy. The dal makhani was excellent -- among the best I have had. The bhendi was also terrific. I am looking forward to trying other dishes the next time. The prices are on the higher (but nor super high) side compared to say Lotus of Marin. I would rate the restaurant a 5 if they visibly displayed a "No seed oils, non GMO and organic sign as Lotus of Marin does. I don't know why Indian/South Asian restaurants aspiring to be viewed as high quality insist on using seed oils that are thought to cause inflammation and therefore are good for you. My apologies if I am wrong or missed something. My suggestion to all South Asian restaurants is to use only pure ghee, avocado oil, olive oil or coconut oil, and non GMO and organic ingredients. Tried this restaurant recently and sampled the vegetarian items: aloo tikki, ram ladoo, veg kabab, soya chaap, and veg biryani. The aloo tikki was crispy, but there was very little yogurt. The ram ladoo, which is supposed to have grated radish as the highlight, had barely any grated radish. Soya chaap was average, while the soft veg kababs were sweet with an overpowering black pepper flavor. The veg paneer biryani leaned more toward a pulao--the paneer was firm and lacked spices. The ambience is just okay-- noise levels high and crammed seating--but service was fast. Unfortunately, as someone from Lucknow, the flavors felt nowhere near authentic. Perfectly cooked, seasoned and spiced. The chicken sekh kebab was flavorful but dry. Also got the lamb keema with pav and it was tasty. Service wise they have a QR code you can use to order and pay but the link to pay wasn't working for me, so I had to flag someone down. Normally when you are seated the waiter explains the process, but that didn't happen for us. Today was such a special day. I took my best man and his wife for a double date to this restaurant. The Manager is such a personable person. We basically ordered whatever he recommended. Even the waitresses are very sweet and nice. Appetizers we had the panipuri 10/10, lamb chops 10/10, Shammi Kabab 10/10 and the Malai Chicken 10/10. Everything was so tasty and fresh. We polished off everything. Food was very very flavorful. For the main course we had goat korma, goat biriyani, kasoori chicken. All three dishes were a perfect 10. This is one of the best restaurants in the Bay Area. Plenty of parking. Very clean bathrooms. Fast service. The music background was great. The place is well lit.
