Excellent small restaurant right in the heart of downtown. We had a craving for butter chicken & naans Food was excellent! Copious quantity. Service was excellent too - very friendly, courteous & prompt! All in all, a great find! (parking is street, and wasn't a problem on a weekday). We will be back!

First time eating here ( had to go once before ) and it was just as delicious as before . Ambiance is pleasant , colorful with fun background music. Parking can be rough but a short walk is usually doable . Food came fast and fresh . Would reccomend !

I havent dined out for indian food before, so this was my first experience. Upon coming here, there are some parking spots available behind the restaurant. The restaurant is small, and a little dark. Service was standard and they checked up on us twice. The menu can be overwhelming, but we ended up getting the mango chicken tikka masala, regular chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, leg quaters, chicken biriyani, and bread basket (naan). I wished the entrees came with rice or naan but you need to order that seperately. Food was average, and I liked how they ask for the spice level. I got the mango one with medium spice and it wasn't bad. We all agreed that the mango one tastes better than the regular chicken tikka masala.

Tonight, the wife liked my mushroom mattar paneer, and I ate her dal making. The mild was too spicy for her, so switcheroo! That worked.

Been searching for a new fave indian restaurant in the Bay Area and found this little gem! It is a small restaurant in downtown Pleasanton with a small parking lot (fills up quickly so may need street parking). Super cute, cozy and clean inside. As for the food, ordered the Butter Chicken, Chicken Curry, Chicken Biryani, Garlic Naan and Pakora. Everything had great flavor and a great amount of spice. Overall, a very solid experience and is def in the running for my new fav Indian spot!

We catered from India Garden for our Diwali party. They were great to communicate with and helped set up and deliver the food. Most importantly the food was a crowd pleaser. The spice level was just right for me, but if your guests can't take any spice I would let the restaurant know to adjust accordingly.

I ordered lamb seekh kebab garlic naan and food is awesome same flavor as past many years ... service is great with warm ambience.

Staff was wonderful and very attentive. Food was great - I loved all of the naan options they had and the chicken tikka masala was solid. The chili chicken was good and flavorful. I will definitely be frequenting this place! I must say, it was a tad more expensive but worth it.

Yelp says this place is a buffet- however it is NOT. The prices were really high. The place is super small. Not a fan.

Shalimar serves authentic Pakistani and Indian food. The atmosphere here is casual and unassuming. It's an open eatery with community tables and chairs on both sides of the tables. There are also booths and benches for those who need some privacy. This canteen-style eatery focuses on food. You order and pay at the counter. They get your name, and your order is served fresh and piping hot. Everyone ordered something different: Tandoori Chicken, Fresh Baked Naan, Goat Biryani, Fish, Okra, Goat Karahi, Biryani Rice, and several other dishes. The dishes were placed in the middle of the long table and we all got to taste everyone's food. Every dish was flavourful and the seasoning on each dish was on-point. Their naan is baked daily - and you can taste the freshness of the bread. The vibe was strong because it's been an absolute age since we last met up. All nine of us picked up where we left off. As we filled our plates with delicious eats, conversation flowed while we joked and ate. The short reunion came to an end when Shalimar breaks for two hours before it opens again for dinner. We bade goodbye as we went our separate ways. Until the next chapter...
