India Garden is truly our favorite local gem in downtown Pleasanton! We come here so often it's become our "regular" spot, and for good reason. The food is consistently incredible we never leave without ordering the Chicken Shahi Paneer and the Lachcha Paratha (the perfect combo!). Their Chicken Kebabs and Chicken Curry are also staples for us; they have that authentic, comforting, homemade taste that you just can't find everywhere. But what really makes this place special is the people. "Aunty" is absolutely the sweetest; she is always so incredibly welcoming and warm. She truly makes us feel like family every time we walk through the door. Even my son loves it here! Whether we are dining in or grabbing takeout, the experience is always positive and full of heart. I havent dined out for indian food before, so this was my first experience. Upon coming here, there are some parking spots available behind the restaurant. The restaurant is small, and a little dark. Service was standard and they checked up on us twice. The menu can be overwhelming, but we ended up getting the mango chicken tikka masala, regular chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, leg quaters, chicken biriyani, and bread basket (naan). I wished the entrees came with rice or naan but you need to order that seperately. Food was average, and I liked how they ask for the spice level. I got the mango one with medium spice and it wasn't bad. We all agreed that the mango one tastes better than the regular chicken tikka masala. read more

Been searching for a new fave indian restaurant in the Bay Area and found this little gem! It is a small restaurant in downtown Pleasanton with a small parking lot (fills up quickly so may need street parking). Super cute, cozy and clean inside. As for the food, ordered the Butter Chicken, Chicken Curry, Chicken Biryani, Garlic Naan and Pakora. Everything had great flavor and a great amount of spice. I hate writing this because this used to be my go-to Indian spot. The curries and chicken biryani were always incredibly flavorful -- the best around. Unfortunately, the last two times I've ordered, the quality has noticeably declined. The flavors were much flatter, and the biryani portion was significantly smaller than before. This place has the best butter chicken. The only complaint I have is the chicken is rubbery and hard. Please make your chicken fresh and soft and not hard and robbery. We've ordered takeout from India Garden a few times now and it's always been great. It's good food and the staff provide good service. I will say that the portions do seem small for the price, but downtown Pleasanton tends to do that. Our favorite things to order are butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, daal, and paneer. Sometimes the naan seems undercooked but it hasn't been a big issue. Overall this is one of our favorite Indian restaurants in the tri-valley and definitely worth checking out. They bring the vegetables but the naan came almost 10-15 mins late so the food became cold. Ordered delivery via a delivery app. I got an order of chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and a mango lassi. The tikka masala was delicious. Perfectly spiced and plenty of chicken. The garlic naan actually tasted garlicky and was nice and chewy. Not as fluffy as other places but delish all the same. The mango lassi was my only let down. The food smelled good - it's too bad we were unable to taste it. We came here on a Sunday and walked into what seemed like an old house. I'm sure it was an old house because we were seated in what appeared to be an enclosed porch. On the way to the restroom, I noticed a much larger, nicer main dining room with music with Indian families; it felt like I had been relegated to the kid's table. That was the first thing. Next, 15 minutes after we placed our orders, two Indian gentlemen walked in, sat for a minute, viewed the menu, and put in their order. The odd thing was even though they ordered their food almost half an hour after we arrived, they got their food first. What added insult to injury was that the two gentlemen had nearly finished their food, and we still hadn't received ours. The server said nothing even after we inquired about the delay of our food. I LOVE this place. Found because I do DoorDash and this place is always busy. It's right downtown easy to walk to. Plenty of parking if you're not looking to walk. The food...is ahmazinnnng. The people who work here are so kind and polite. I've never been treated rudely. Usually order the same things; chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, garlic naan, biryanis, saag paneer and samosas. The chicken is always falling off the bone. The flavors are the perfect blends. The naan is soft and delicious. Samosas aren't over cooked. We did take out order: the Lamb Seekh Kabab was part of the order. It was soggy in some parts, chewy and dry in other parts. And, I found what is pictured in a piece of the kabab. One is a plastic the other is rubbery. We called restaurant right away and they put us on hold forever. They didn't apologize or seem regretful but did refund the charge of that item. Our go to place for North Indian food. We have gotten catering services from them and picked up meals and the food is very consistent. We have rarely dined at the restaurant but know that it's very popular especially with the buffet crowd. Our favorites are their shahi paneer and chicken dishes. It's my go to dish which means I've tried plenty and this place makes it so good. The sauce is the best part, super yummy (my mouth is watering just thinking about it). I feel fortunate to have finally eaten here; just 1 turn off Main in downtown Pleasanton, it is easy to pass this place by due the humble exterior. I have been here five times in three weeks and have to be disciplined to not end up here more often. This place has mastered flavors and dishes you won't find in most Pleasanton restaurants and if you are looking for something on the "seasoned" spectrum of flavor, you need to eat here. So far I have tried the Veggie Korma, Daal Tadka, Cucumber salad, Regular Naan, Garlic Naan, Garlic Jalapeño Naan, Tandoori Chicken, Kharahi Goat, Goat Curry, Bhuna Goat, and Rice Pudding. Every dish is delicious, but I must admit the cucumber salad did not wow me. I would consider washing dishes here for free to be near this kitchen to learn more about there cuisine. The Bhuna Goat is special, probably one of the top dishes in the whole City. There is two dining areas inside I've only seen one, it is functional. The one I have been in is small and your conversation will be heard by everyone in the space. The service is very friendly, communication in English gets the message across but exercise patience if you expect banter. Food comes out quickly and they don't bother except to see that everything is satisfactory. Be careful when the server asks you how spicy, they care that you enjoy the food.
