India Garden is truly our favorite local gem in downtown Pleasanton! We come here so often it's become our "regular" spot, and for good reason. The food is consistently incredible we never leave without ordering the Chicken Shahi Paneer and the Lachcha Paratha (the perfect combo!). Their Chicken Kebabs and Chicken Curry are also staples for us; they have that authentic, comforting, homemade taste that you just can't find everywhere. But what really makes this place special is the people. "Aunty" is absolutely the sweetest; she is always so incredibly welcoming and warm. She truly makes us feel like family every time we walk through the door. Even my son loves it here! Whether we are dining in or grabbing takeout, the experience is always positive and full of heart. I didn't try the chaat papdi but heard it was good. The paneer tikka was fine, but it was a little cold, and I wish it were crispier on the outside. For the mains, we got dal makhani, shahi paneer, and a bread basket of naans. We also tried the Amritsari kulcha with chole. I liked the dal and shahi paneer. The naan was soft and warm, and there was a good amount in the basket. The entrees were a little small, though. Service was fine, and the food was decent. Ordered twice from this place . First time biryani was great which was the reason I reordered . Pakoras were soggy. Next time I preferred fish pakoras , same situation, soggy and very poor packaging ( in a bag which could be the reason they were soggy) . Second time biryani just had 2-3 pieces of chicken. Best Punjabi restaurant in east bay. Chole Bhatura here is unique. The Bhatura are very well made with yummy Chole. We tried Punjabi saag and Tandoori Paneer. Both were top class. The ambience is great + service is super friendly. Must visit. read more

Been searching for a new fave indian restaurant in the Bay Area and found this little gem! It is a small restaurant in downtown Pleasanton with a small parking lot (fills up quickly so may need street parking). Super cute, cozy and clean inside. As for the food, ordered the Butter Chicken, Chicken Curry, Chicken Biryani, Garlic Naan and Pakora. Everything had great flavor and a great amount of spice. Overall, a very solid experience and is def in the running for my new fav Indian spot! read more

I hate writing this because this used to be my go-to Indian spot. The curries and chicken biryani were always incredibly flavorful -- the best around. Unfortunately, the last two times I've ordered, the quality has noticeably declined. The flavors were much flatter, and the biryani portion was significantly smaller than before. It feels like something has changed. I'd honestly rather see a price increase than a drop in quality. Shrinkflation? This place used to be outstanding, and I'm hoping this is just a temporary issue. This place has the best butter chicken. The only complaint I have is the chicken is rubbery and hard. Please make your chicken fresh and soft and not hard and robbery. We've ordered takeout from India Garden a few times now and it's always been great. It's good food and the staff provide good service. I will say that the portions do seem small for the price, but downtown Pleasanton tends to do that. Our favorite things to order are butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, daal, and paneer. Sometimes the naan seems undercooked but it hasn't been a big issue. Overall this is one of our favorite Indian restaurants in the tri-valley and definitely worth checking out. The food smelled good - it's too bad we were unable to taste it. We came here on a Sunday and walked into what seemed like an old house. I'm sure it was an old house because we were seated in what appeared to be an enclosed porch. On the way to the restroom, I noticed a much larger, nicer main dining room with music with Indian families; it felt like I had been relegated to the kid's table. That was the first thing. Next, 15 minutes after we placed our orders, two Indian gentlemen walked in, sat for a minute, viewed the menu, and put in their order. The odd thing was even though they ordered their food almost half an hour after we arrived, they got their food first. What added insult to injury was that the two gentlemen had nearly finished their food, and we still hadn't received ours. The server said nothing even after we inquired about the delay of our food. I was referred to visit Indian garden in Pleasanton, and I finally did yesterday May 16th, we chose dinner, and I will be visiting very soon, the food is excellent, why, food presentation, delicious food,and prices are good and and excellent customer service, the place was clean, which is a plus for me in any restaurant . We have visited this restaurant in the past but now we aren't happy at all. Portion sizes (goat/lamb biryani) have become smaller, and the order of delivery in the restaurant is messed up. They bring the vegetables but the naan came almost 10-15 mins late so the food became cold. Great Indian place for lunch. It's a bit pricey, and entrees aren't huge, but everything is really flavorful. We split three entrees...the lamb curry, mango chicken tikka masala, and the Chana masala. We also had the onion and garlic naan. Everything was delicious. I LOVE this place. Found because I do DoorDash and this place is always busy. It's right downtown easy to walk to. Plenty of parking if you're not looking to walk. The food...is ahmazinnnng. The people who work here are so kind and polite. I've never been treated rudely. Usually order the same things; chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, garlic naan, biryanis, saag paneer and samosas. One is a plastic the other is rubbery. We called restaurant right away and they put us on hold forever. They didn't apologize or seem regretful but did refund the charge of that item.
