Deck Guru demonstrated a sincere commitment to excellence from my first meeting with Yegor to completion. Their work far exceeded my expectations in both the final product and the entire process. My deck could have been a winner in a "Makeover" competition when it was completed! I absolutely love the new deck and beautiful railings. Remodeling the upper patio deck, staircase, and a lower deck seemed daunting. My old decks had mismatched materials and were weathered and peeling, and the deck railings were rotted. Some companies encouraged me to tear the old decks down and start from scratch. Deck Guru let me know from the get-go that my project was a great case for "refacing", with the hope that the underlying structure would be in good shape after stripping off the top layer. Yegor listened to what I hoped my deck could look like and explained what Deck Guru's team could do. He took extensive measurements of all widths and heights and angles (unlike others who estimated quickly). He showed me options for products and colors which he brought on site (unlike others who said to look online or visit a showroom). The detailed bid included very specific numbers for materials as well as disclosures about additional costs that might be incurred if any rotten wood was discovered underneath during construction. There were some support boards which needed replacing, triggering a change order for additional materials and time, which I felt prepared for because of the disclosure in the bid. The demo of the top layer involved painstakingly ripping off the old impervious surface, done completely by hand. I was impressed at how thorough their cleanup was each day. Then the team attached a huge tarp to cover the exposed upper deck supports to protect them from January rains and to allow them to fully dry. The lower deck was complicated with tricky angles and corners. Levcleverly arranged the border pieces to compensate for the original deck's strange shape. I was amazed at how creative Levi was and how perfectly he measured and cut each Trex board to fit. He also came up with brilliant solutions to widen the staircase while retaining the bones of the original structure. Each element turned out beautifully, as if it had been designed for a new install rather than a reface. Not only was their work fabulous, but Levi and Rhianna were terrific to have around. Extremely kind and thoughtful toward my large family with four generations in the home (even being respectful of my grandbaby's nap times!). As the project neared completion, owner Alex and craftsman Levi took great care to put final touches on areas where the old railing had been. They clearly cared a lot about attention to detail and even waterproofed a few small exposed areas. I highly recommend Deck Guru. Beyond professional. Extremely talented. Deck Guru magically restored our deck to almost like a new condition (35 year old deck ). We have contacted Deck Guru back in October 2020 , Yegor came out within specified 2 hour window for arrival and thoroughly inspected our deck. Upon inspection he gave us 2 options : Restoration and replacement with those new artificial fake wood which sounded really nice but we could not budget for that option. We were getting into rainy weather so we were advised that out project would be transferred to 2021 season. We signed a contract and waited. Beginning of March 2021 we got a call from Sia stating that they are ready to schedule initial cleaning and deck preparation which was great. We are elderly and very nice fellow who cleaned the deck also helped us to move all plants and heavy table off the deck. Also Yegor determined that 25 boards needed to be replaced prior to coating application so a few weeks after carpentry crew came out and replaced 28 boards ( 3 more boards were discovered to be replaced after cleaning ), tighten rails ( few sections very loose ) and re set popped nails. Also they had to replace 1 structural post due to rot. Just a few days ago we had a strike of super nice weather which they took advantage of and completed coating application on the deck. We could not be happier. It simply looks AMAZING! We had a very old worn out deck and now it looks 100 times better and we finally want to go out and spend some time there. Our dog Pippy also loves it. We decided to go with 2 tone option and matched color of the rails with our window trip ( white ) and it simply looks gorgeous. In the timely manner they have transformed our deck and made it safe again to use. And we did not have to take a loan to pay for deck replacement. They communicated all steps of the process in timely manner. Josh though once came out on the back yard without knocking on the door first, which is not a big deal but still would be nice to do so. We are very pleased with the work that Deck Guru did on our deck. Alex and Yegor gave us a very clear estimate on the cost of the work, and they stuck to the estimate. The whole team did excellent work, and it was obvious that they cared about the final product. They came by and did some touch-ups free of charge after our walk-through. Alex also made a custom wooden post to match our original one that had rotted through. They cleaned up everything after their work was complete. They also got back to us on the same day whenever we had questions. We just had the work done so I can't speak to the longevity of the product, but we are happy about the 2 year guaranty on the work from Deck Guru along with the 10 year manufacturer's warranty on the product. My only criticism (and this is very minor) is that we did not get a heads up on when the work would be started. This is partially due to the process since they have to wait for a stretch of dry weather. It would have been nice to receive a call that morning to warn us they would be coming by though. We were surprised when the truck rolled up. Again, very minor criticism. Great job overall! read more

Our experience with Deck Guru was a good one. We contacted three different companies for estimates on replacing our old wooden deck with composite. Deck Guru was not the lowest estimate, but they were close - and compared to the cheaper bid, Deck Guru's representative had significantly more expertise and examples of prior work the company had completed. None of the companies we contacted were available until several months out (I guess it was the busy season), but we knew about that upfront. Deck Guru did manage to fit us in several weeks earlier than they originally estimated, though. The builders who came out were lovely people and did a fantastic job despite challenges - the old deck had a hot tub that needed removed, and that was quite an effort. They did a fine job cleaning up the yard afterwards. There were a couple of missing rail clips when I walked through the finished deck, but Deck Guru took care of ordering the parts and delivering them once available. Overall they did a great job and I have recommended them to friends who are looking to have decks redone. read more

The Guru's did a fantastic job in resurfacing our deck. The previous pressure treated planks were old and breaking apart. The railings were starting to fail. Tried using Deck-over paint, but that only lasts a couple years before the moisture in the board wins the battle again. So we chose DG after reviewing them and 3 other companies. They stepped us through the process of picking materials (decided on Trex), what our options were and what the costs would be, all upfront. No surprises, which I really appreciate. The team tore out the old deck, old railing and installed the new boards and railings on the existing frame structure. We couldnt quite afford to do the stairs too but they worked around that nicely and allowed us to strip and repaint the stairs ourselves, DIY after they were done with the raining. We finally moved into our new home and were happy about everything except "ancient" deck in the back yard and didn't really know what to do with it.The decking boards were rotting, rails are loose and i thought we had to get rid of it... Putting a new deck on our home was a big decision and expense. We had two different contractors give us a bid, and we still were unsure if we were going to do it because we never got a warm fuzzy from either of them. Then I called Deck Guru and Yegor came out to take a look. He was as straight forward of a guy and promised me that my job would come in at the number of his bid. No change orders. Not only did he keep his word on the cost, but the people he had installing the deck were amazing. I wasn't home for 80% of the installation because I was at work, but I felt comfortable enough with the crew to leave my two dogs out all day with them working. We had been putting off a small deck project for years and finally decided to fix it this year. We found Deck Guru through a local flyer. The website was easy to use, allowing us to describe our deck and include photos. The website facilitated the appointment time, when there was a scheduling glitch they contact us right away and set up a new appointment time that fit our schedule. The estimators came out and provided us a range of estimates that fit what we were looking for (composite/Trex in a moderate price range was our goal). Our estimated start date was a ways out but they indicated as it was a small job, they may be able to fit us in earlier. I had a great experience from start to finish with this group, rehabbing a wooden back deck on the house my wife and I bought. Yegor came to the house at a convenient town and outlined several options for different budgets, then waited several days while we mulled our options. We contacted Deck Guru to replace the decking and railing on our 30 year old deck. Their estimate was in the rage of the 4 companies we talked to. Once the decking was removed, they discovered 1/2 the ledger board was missing and the joists were not in great shape. They immediately brought us out to look, and were open and honest about the shape of the deck frame and offered a couple of solutions. We went with the full expensive option (increased price by about 50%), instead of the band aid approach which would have only bee about a 25% bump. I'm glad we went with the full rebuild, now we not only have a beautiful deck but also peace of mind that it won't fall over in 5 years. I'm shocked by the negative reviews. After almost going with our first bid, we decided to get a second one from Deck Guru. Not only did Alex go above and beyond by providing different options for our deck, his bid came in $10,000 less than our first one! After signing the contract, they started building and in approximately one week we had a beautiful deck with benches and steps. We chose Azek product. Colors are pecan with mocha trim and we're extremely happy with the color, design and craftsmanship. Alex is very professional and patient ( we changed our mind a couple of times). My wife and I contracted with Alex and Deck Guru to build a deck in our backyard. Alex was knowledgeable, professional, and visited our home multiple times to ensure that our vision for a deck was executed properly. Once we had contracted with Deck Guru Alex connected us with Levi ( project manager) who would be overseeing the construction of our deck. Levi and team are knowledgeable, timely, and hard workers. There were a few days of light snow during construction where we assumed they would pause the build but instead they showed up on time and worked through the conditions.
