Easy reservations on Open Table for dinner, found street parking after circling a bit. Interior was hip with an open kitchen, bar top seating, booths and a rooftop with happy hour. Service was really great ambiance inside (5/5), they also provided a starter bite and a sweet treat before the check which were nice touches. The chef had surf and turf concepts which we enjoyed. Favorite dish was the hangar steak with beef tallow fries and mindful mushrooms. The pasta was good but a little too oily for me and some of the noodles were clumped together. Everything else was delicious, I'd come back for happy hour to check out the rooftop.

We went on a Thursday night for a week night date night. Parking is hit or miss so definitely arrive 15min before your reservation time. We booked a regular seating (not rooftop) for 7pm and was seated at the chefs counter. It was a treat watching the chefs. They have many types of seating to fit many needs. We ordered a more small dishes than large ones and the sandia spritz and fuega fresca for drinks. Both were delicious! Fuega fresca is especially mezcal forward. Oysters: fresh, briny, delicious Tongue and clam: not necessarily a profile that I would have gravitate towards us, but it actually ended up tasting pretty good Tagliatelle: refreshing and light pasta esp with the calamari Our server was Tyler with help from Sahad (apologies for misspelling). Both checked in on us often and were very friendly. We got a welcome drink and some light bites to start which were a welcome surprise. Overall I'd recommend this place for a friendly getogether or a romantic night!

Came here on a Friday night for happy hour and oysters. When we got there the wait was about 45 to an hour so we put our name on the list and went over to original 40 next door to kill some time. It was almost the end of happy hour and we still weren't texted so we went back over and they had a table outside for us just in time for happy hour. The server came over fast to put our one order in before happy hour was over. Wish we had more time to get other stuff but it was a Friday night so the wait was long! The oysters and the happy drink choices were both great! Cute vibes here! Inside was very small and intimate!

This is simply a gem of place in pretty rough neighborhood, wouldn't want to be here at night. Warm, lively and transformative the moment you walk in, reminds me of few places in NYC like Queens. The host greets you and even walks you all the way to rooftop bar and I felt bad for her. Everyone from the bartenders and servers were amazing and it's one of the best HH in the SD area. Burger was inventive and savory while the oysters were small but briny and packed with umami flavor. Cocktails all around were well balanced. A small tip, they'll allow you to bring your doggo to the rooftop too, wish I had mine with me

Made reservation here to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were warmly greeted and seated at a counter looking towards the kitchen. The chef's are artisans and we enjoyed watching them create. Our waiter Alex, was very knowledgeable and informative as to the items on the menu. He was great at checking in and making sure everything was good. Everything we ate had a wonderful array of flavors, beauty and presentation. We had yellowtail, risotto, salmon & steak as well as dessert. The salmon was amazing!! We were also given a couple of extra items to enjoy which was a nice gesture. We paid for parking in the lot behind the restaurant. We plan to return to have the burgers!

This place is catering for high-end vibes, and as such, their dishes are quite pricey... for somewhat average "fancy" foods. Came for their $12 dozen oysters on their happy hour menu, which is a great deal! HH is served on the rooftop, so on a hot sunny day, it can be a little brutal in the sun. The dish with beef tongue & clams was delish, very unique. Tuna crudo was quite subpar - would NOT order again. Their sourdough bread was pretty tasty, but again, pricey for bread. Overall, given price point & much better "fancy" restaurants in San Diego, I'm not inclined to come back again on my own whim, unless friends want to hit up their $1 HH oysters. ;)

Made reservation for 7:30 on a Friday. Arrived and was seated right away. Ambiance is nice. I had a table in the back which had nice couch type seating and was quiet. Started off with wine and oysters. Oysters were delicious. Moved onto the fish crudo and tongue and clams. Both were amazing. Finished off the meal with their burger. I usually don't order a burger when going to higher end restaurant but I just had a craving and I'm glad I ordered it. It was probably one of the best cheeseburgers I've ever had. Other popular items in the menu that I saw many people ordered was the hanger steak. I look forward to returning.

First the good: The dishes were beautifully presented and most of the food excellent. The risotto was one of the best things I've ever eaten and the guinea fowl was super memorable. A few other dishes were quite good too, but those two stood out! The but: it felt like none of the little things went well for a restaurant of this caliber and this price. Service from wait staff was only okay and utensils were regularly forgotten between courses, table wasn't usually wiped down, and several other parties were ushered past us (we came in first and couldn't get the attention of the host to check in for our reservation) when we asked to be seated. Every time my drink was full I was asked about 3 times if I wanted another one, but every time it was empty, no one was around. The main problem was that we waited about 40 minutes between each course. Portions were smaller so everything was eaten within a few minutes and then we didn't get our next round for long enough that we started to forget the last course. The dinner was closing in on 4 hours by the time we were done and our bill was around $1000 for six of us. Normally these expectations would be too high, but for a restaurant charging pretty high prices and touting that they're aiming for a Michelin star, I just feel like these things were just too much of a miss. Lastly, we chose this spot for my birthday, and nothing was really done for my birthday. I don't need (or even want) any sort of fanfare, but our waitress came out and just said "we ran out of candles" when she dropped off the dessert and that was it. I liked a lot of the food and the ambiance was very cool, but I just don't think I have upwards of 3.5 hours and the amount of money I need to set aside to try again. Maybe for a party of 2 or the happy hour, but the prefix menu with a medium sized party just felt a little unprepared.

I have been to Deckmans a few times for happy hour and their Sunday Roast Dinners when they had them. Always satisfied and pleased by the food and service. I just celebrated my 40th birthday here and it was aaammmmaazzing! This is exactly the superb service and flavors of a Michelin star chef! The staff was so accommodating and attentive. Tyler was our server and we had a great time conversing with him learning about the origins of the Chef's vision and other restaurants. Chef Drew Deckman even came out a handful of times to deliver some dishes and explained it to us. I was so surprised to see that! The ambiance was classy yet fun. We had the backroom to ourselves. There were 13 adults and a 3 year old. They were so sweet to my 3 year old niece making her own delicious potatoes fries dish. I really hope they don't leave North Park. It's such a gem that we need here.

My friend discovered this gem on Instagram and we just had to go for happy hour on the rooftop bar. While it's walk-in only, the wait was only about 15 minutes. The restaurant itself has a few different areas including a small outdoor seating area, small indoor bar and dining area (the restaurant is long and there are bathrooms and another dining room at the back), and of course the rooftop. The decor gives off a fresh coastal vibe, very Californian. While the rooftop is rather small, they manage to fit in a bar, couch seating and tables. The best part is the $12 for a dozen oysters and other wine and cocktail specials. Perhaps this isn't the norm, but there was only 1 server for the entire rooftop. She did amazing considering how busy it was. We ended up ordering 3 of the dozen oysters which satisfied that craving. Additional items ordered included beef tartare, which had good flavor but was a little too well done, and the fish collar which was also good but a little on the salty side. The rooftop definitely clears out after happy hour and I can see why it is so popular.

Came here on a Sunday for their prefix menu. Didn't get to try the oysters which I want to for their happy hour. The aesthetics is nice and intimate. Felt the chairs where we were sitting was a bit narrow getting in and out, but it could've been where we were seated. Service was great as they knew and were mindful that we were a bit on a time crunch with having reservations we needed to get to. They served olives to the table which could've been without for those who aren't fans of olives. I thought the food overall on the prefix was good. I would say the steak could have been seasoned better even though there were dipping sauces that came with it. I had medium rare and my partner happens to get the steak more on the medium side, which we weren't asked how we wanted the steak. I had the fairy dust cocktail and it was really good and the highlight of the prefix menu was the dessert.

Dinned here for the first time for happy hour yesterday when they opened, I've been to many high end restaurants but this is the first 10/10 experience! The entire staff is so welcoming, friendly, attentive etc. The FOOD! Ambiance, vibe and attention to detail of designs is amazing! Definitely excited to come back!!

Is there an elevator for access to the rooftop bar for the mobility challenged?

Hi Paul, we do have one. Thank you for your inquiry!

Is food available at the bar area?

Yes but not the pre fixe menu. They have a special menu for bar, it's got a handful of things on there

When I made the reservation, it was noted that there is a 1.5 hour limit on the table. Thankfully, Botanica isn't incredibly stringent about this rule as it gave us more time to eat, drink and be merry. My friend and I split the bill and I paid $87.49 with tip included. Here's what we had: Blistered shishito peppers - mild spice but flavorful New York strip yakitori - ordered two of these because they were that good! The steak was tender and the sauce rendered an umami flavor Botanika roll - tasted fine, but it ate one note. You can taste the citrusy parts but not much else. Mochi dessert - you can only get dessert if you order the pre fixe chef menu, but since our waitress didn't know this, she put the order in and gave it to us! We were incredibly grateful because it was the perfect end to a good meal For cocktails we ordered Spirited Away, Dragon of the West, Kyoko Sakura & Heads will Roll. All of the cocktails were beautifully presented and quite tasty.

I made a reservation (just in case) because on a weekend you never know. Luckily, though, we arrived and there was plenty of available seating. We enjoyed sharing a few plates and fresh oysters on the half shell. They do not have a kids menu, which was alright with us. Our daughter, who loves a good steak at 5 years old, enjoyed their pub steak and fries and shared a Mexican Coke with her brother. For my husband and I, we enjoyed sharing their beef tartare and to finish it off, a banana split. What we found so whimsical about Finca is their presentation. This place came up as a completely alcohol free bar and I was so excited to try it out. The bartenders were friendly, the vibe in here is so awesome. Cool things to look at on the walls, an entire shelf of non-alcoholic wines and beers, merch from the owner herself, it was a very unique and hip place. I really couldn't believe I had the bar to myself on a Tuesday night around 6. The message this place stands by is what makes it amazing to me. Check out their website, you'll see what I mean. In the mornings they have functional coffee drinks and by night they have functional cocktails. There were delicious options to choose from, some with Kava, some with CBD. I ended up going with the drink called the weekend, which was watermelon, coconut, peach, cherry sour and lemon. It was garnished with a sour patch watermelon candy and that's exactly what it tasted like. I just had one drink and closed out and my bill came to $21 and I was like eeeeeek. I really like the growing NA trend, and even though I drink, it's great to have an alternative, safer-feeling, and more inclusive nightlife option. I came with a couple friends on a Sunday night, about a week ago. We all drink alcohol, but we've all been drinking less lately. The place was almost empty around 8pm, which we found concerning for its prospective longevity. We also thought the prices were pretty steep -- maybe I'm biased as someone who drinks alcohol, but if I'm getting a mocktail or other NA drink, I'd like to pay less than $15+ for it. Still, I ordered the Ave Maria and thought it was one of the best mocktails I've ever had. One of my friends got the Malibu (he liked it but did complain about the price), and I don't remember what my other friend got. We sat for a while and played Connect4 using the fanciest set I'd ever seen. Some more people came in, so it didn't feel nearly as empty by the time I left. I'd probably come back, but only if I was with someone who doesn't drink and/or really wanted to try this bar. I hope they make it!
