Declan's surprised me in the best way! There is outdoor dining along the front and side of the pub, which is perfect for summer nights. Our server, Connor (I hope I'm remembering right!) was just the best. Attentive, friendly, and so welcoming. We loved him! What surprised me the most though was the food. It's so good?! Typically pubs like this have pretty mediocre offerings, but Declan's is definitely a step above the rest. Collectively we loved the fried pickles, but my grilled chicken sandwich was also fantastic. Great spot all around. Will definitely be back!

Came here to hang out with some friends and watch a few games - there were plenty of screens, so no matter where you sat, you could see the game. It was quite busy on a Saturday. We had a reservation and got a table in the back area. Staff was nice and attentive! This is a great spot for a casual hangout/drink. They also have half off salads on weekends and $5 bloody mary's!

Awesome spot and highly recommend. Great burgers and sandwiches. Very dog friendly patio. The owner volunteers at the Chicago English Bulldog Rescue to help dogs in need. Safe to say mine will be back to have another Guinness.

Hosted an engagement party here in 1/18/24 and it was the right choice ! The service was great and the food was very good. Plum, our bartender, went above and beyond to help us with anything we needed. Declan's has a private space upstairs that feels like you are in a bar in Dublin! Dave, the owner , made sure everything ran smoothly. Make Declan's your next party event!!

Criminy, how many Irish pubs within a mile? Declan's is yet another one. It has more of a hipster feel than somewhere like D4 and Dublin, with a laidback too cool for you kind of atmosphere that fits in around Old Town. Gets busy at times but it hardly gets rowdy in here. This is more of a place where bartenders discuss their indie playlists rather than belligerently talk about boobs and stuff. Beers of course include Guinness. It also has a fairly good amount of crafts, with many that are local. They also have plenty of liquors but a surprising lack of variety of Irish whiskey. It's $8 for a Jameson. That seems kind of a lot but oh well. It's ice cold. They also have a better than expected food menu. Besides the typical pub grub, vegetarians can have a Chipotle Black Bean Burger. It's $14, which is definitely overpriced. This comes with on a brioche or a pretzel bun with a side. It's the only thing I've eaten here. The rest of the menu is meaty. For another Irish pub it has charm. It also has an upstairs good for private events. This is best for large groups and parties.

A fun spot to go to with friends! We always sit outside and enjoy a beer bucket after our intermareal volleyball games and the servers are always able to accommodate our large group. The food is pretty good for bar food; the tater tots are my favorite. Declan's is a nice bar if you're in the Old Town area and want a cold drink and to watch a sports game or hang out with friends!

Fun place watch college football. However Guinness is really bad. See side glass does not stick at all. Supposed be Irish bat so was really surprised how bad their Guinness was

I came with a girlfriend after a long bottomless brunch so we had no intention of eating again, but DEFINITELY wanted to continue our Sunday Funday. We stumbled upon this ppace, we sat at the bar, liked the energy...one drink turned into two..then three...(you know it is). We eventually ordered chicken nachos and mozzarella sticks. From what I remember the nachos were on point! I'm pretty sure we almost ordered another one lol. Mozzarella sticks were good too. Plus, I remember the bartender was fun and kept us entertained the whole day AND NIGHT! A great spot to watch sports and take whiskey shots at...plus the food's good too! - We will definitely be back!

We tried going to another restaurant not even realizing it was brunch, our original pick was PACKED. We ditched that idea and walked down Wells when we spotted the golden sign in the sunshine. When in doubt, go to the pub. :) It was busy, but nothing crazy. We were able to sit at a table right away and a server took our orders for drinks. Beer menu was good. My Husband enjoyed his selections. Lunch was ordered and scarfed down pretty quickly. lol I had the Grilled Chicken as a wrap. It was loaded with chicken, roasted red peppers, garlic aioli, avocado, and pepper jack cheese! It was wonderful. The fresh cut fries served with it were also tasty! My Husband ordered the Reuben. Made me wish I had ordered that as soon as I saw it. The corned beef on it was tender and very flavorful. The homemade thousand island dressing was a nice touch. Great atmosphere and the food totally hit the spot! :)

The mozzarella logs didn't have much a difference from normal mozzarella sticks but great cheese pull. The Cap'n Crunch calamari really surprised me. Few things can ruin the anticipation of a night out quite like a disastrous dining experience. When…read moreplanning an evening around a major event, choosing a restaurant is supposed to be the relaxing prelude to the main attraction. It is a time to unwind, enjoy good company, and fuel up for the excitement ahead. Unfortunately, a recent visit to Green Street proved to be exactly the opposite, transforming what should have been a celebratory evening into a masterclass in frustration. Due to an unacceptable lack of operational efficiency and a total breakdown in staff communication, what should have been a pleasant dinner turned into a stressful race against the clock. The restaurant failed not just on a culinary level, but on a fundamental logistical level, proving that it cannot handle the basic demands of standard dinner service. The Seventy-Five Minute Void The primary issue during the visit was the egregious, inexcusable wait time for the food to arrive. After placing the order with the server, a staggering one hour and fifteen minutes passed without a single dish hitting the table. While a busy kitchen is understandable during peak hours, a delay of over an hour for standard restaurant service crosses the line from a minor inconvenience to a fundamental failure in hospitality. A wait time of this magnitude suggests a severe bottleneck in the kitchen, a complete breakdown in organization, or a lack of respect for the guests' time. In the fast-paced world of food service, time is the ultimate currency, and Green Street spent theirs with reckless disregard for the patrons sitting in their dining room. Compounding the frustration was the complete lack of communication and proactive service from the staff. Throughout the seventy-five-minute ordeal, no updates were provided, no reassurances were given, and no apologies were offered for the compounding delay. Good service dictates that if a kitchen is backed up, the wait staff should inform the guests ahead of time so they can adjust their expectations or alter their orders. Instead, the table was left completely in the dark, forced to repeatedly track down staff members just to check on the status of the meal. This passive-aggressive avoidance by the service team only heightened the anxiety in the room, turning what should have been a hospitality-driven environment into an adversarial struggle for basic information. Rushed Plates and Missed Cues This severe delay ultimately disrupted the entire itinerary for the evening, rippling outward to ruin plans made months in advance. The dinner was specifically scheduled to serve as a prelude to a major concert, leaving what should have been an ample two-hour window to eat, relax, and travel to the venue. Because Green Street took so long to prepare the food, the actual meal had to be crammed into a chaotic ten-minute window. The party was forced to scarf down a few bites and leave the restaurant incredibly early just to make the opening act of the show. Instead of enjoying a relaxed, upscale dining experience, the evening was defined by high anxiety, indigestion, and a hurried exit toward the exit doors. Ultimately, a restaurant cannot rely solely on its aesthetic, its location, or its menu descriptions if it fails to deliver the core component of hospitality: timely, reliable service. Green Street's inability to serve food within a reasonable timeframe completely overshadowed the evening and jeopardized plans outside of the restaurant walls. It is a stark reminder that the culinary industry relies heavily on synchronization; when one gear fails, the entire experience grinds to a halt. For anyone operating on a strict schedule, or simply hoping for a dependable meal before a major event, Green Street represents a operational risk that is simply not worth taking.

We stopped in on a Friday midafternoon (May 2026), and found a moderate crowd, good food, and good service. For starters, we had perfect calamari. Crunchy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. It went well with the medium-spicy salsa they provided. This is already a win with any cold beer and any game on their many tvs! We would definitely it get again! We had their shepherd's pie: really flavorful Guinness Irish beef stew under a deliciously creamy layer of parmesan mashed potatoes, nicely crunchy on the outside with a lightly toasted top, and Irish soda bread. Delicious and satisfying! We loved the pastrami reuben sandwich, and we're not even big fans of sauerkraut in a sandwich. But in O'Toole's version, everything came together in a perfect union - the pastrami, the thousand-island dressing, the sauerkraut, and the griddled marble rye. We deliberately left off the Swiss cheese, and maybe that's the trick (for us) to balance the sauerkraut? Well, it worked nicely this way. We were still there towards the end of their weekday 3-6pm happy hour, so we got the $9 Chicago Handshake! A shot of Mälort & an OldStyle chaser! "Mälort-face" free of charge!
