I got to try to food truck at Community America's Red Friday event and it wasn't bad. I chose the…read morepork bulgogi taco, Caribbean jerk chicken taco and chips & queso. Chips and queso were pretty good. I like that they lightly seasoned the chips. I was expecting the pork and chicken to have a big punch of flavor but it was really lacking. I liked the flour tortilla shells that were used but it would have been better if they had warmed the tortillas first. They do provide a generous serving of meat, but I would have liked more toppings on the tacos. Service was ok. They were able to move through the orders fairly quickly. If anyone is a germaphobe, I wouldn't recommend eating here. I saw he used the same gloves to grab your order card, stick it up near the window, prepare the chips and grab the tortillas. It wasn't that big of a deal but just a heads up if something like that were to bother you.

I got the Dr Pepper burger & an NA grapefruit IPA. The burger was very yummy, as were the fries that came with it. There was a casual sauce for the fries and I loved it. The beer was good, but not amazing. It wasn't made by Red Crow though, it was a can. I know Red Crow makes some top notch beers from visiting them previously, though. I just didn't want alcohol because I went in with a headache & it would have made it worse. Red Crow's ambiance was great, though. It's cute & quirky and very relaxed. Everyone in there seemed happy (staff included). I'll make my way back again in the fall if they have their chai stout back.

Patron Pollo N Beef #2 - South KC (outside a gas station in the parking lot). One of the rare food…read moretrucks that nails quality, quantity, and price. Order: Mixed plate for lunch (about 20 minutes). Comes with two charbroiled chicken pieces, half order of grilled steak, rice, tortillas, grilled peppers and onions, salsas, and a cup of charro beans. Chicken: Juicy, smoky, seasoned so well it could compete with tandoori chicken--rare to find that level of flavor. Steak: Tender, flavorful, nicely grilled. Charro beans: Soupy, shockingly good, and well seasoned. Rice: Basic, plain, no real seasoning. Warm tortillas are a nice plus. Peppers & onions: Good flavor, but could be cut thinner and grilled longer. Lime: Small but perfect touch to brighten the meat and beans--attention to detail you rarely see in a food truck. Wish list: Bigger salsa cups without the extra charge, julienned peppers and onions, grilled longer for more flavor and easier eating. The vibe: This is a hidden gem--when Hispanic families and construction crews are making the trip just for this truck, you know it's solid. Gas station itself isn't busy, but the food truck draws a steady lunch crowd. A couple of benches outside, some eat in their cars, lots of carryout. Bottom line: Flavorful meats, generous portions, and thoughtful touches make this a standout. Easily one of the best food truck finds in KC.

Was craving banana pudding and after a quick search, found Joe's has one available. While this…read moredessert isn't your traditionally made banana pudding, it is very good! This shareable dessert has bananas and vanilla wafers on the bottom with banana pudding on top. The difference Joe's has versus other traditional banana pudding is that the pudding is whipped. The light texture is super creamy and delicious. Topped with toffee pieces, the pudding finishes with a nice crunch. If you're just looking for dessert, I suggest ordering online for carryout. Otherwise, you may wind up waiting in the long line for BBQ. If you've not been to this location, it is a great opportunity to eat in the gas station and enjoy the ambiance. Service is excellent and the servers are very friendly. They also help manage seating to ensure you have enough seating for your party as you aren't permitted to save seats before you get your food.

Pull up! Do yourself the favor and go The "gas station" spot…read moredid not disappoint!!! I think there's multiple location but our experience was where the locals went. This place was packed to the brim to get a table which now I understand whyyy. The line went fairly fast so I was happy (hangry Steph was about to make an appearance) You order first, then get a table while you wait for your grub, this seemed to get the people flowing in and out. The sauces are homemade and delicious I got the special which was like the size of my head hahaha I couldn't finish the bread but boy was it yummy. Perfectly q-ed up with the sauce and the fried onion rings. I was living my best heart attack dream. The cornbread was so warm and fresh, and the pickles were perfectly salty (like your MIL, jk). Truly was refreshing to get this meal and eat what I believe Kansas dreams are made of. They do have a to go spot which we got some cornbread to go on wit us on our plane ride.
