OMG this is my new favorite coffee shop in Kansas. I don't know how we missed this because it's only about 5 minutes away from the church we visit when we are in town. But I was so excited when I found them on Yelp, they do breakfast and drinks and their prices are very reasonable. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They guided us since it was our first time there, I got the Holiday spice and my husband got a cappuccino with vanilla flavoring, I also got a yogurt parfait for breakfast. It was a great size, and it had preservatives, fresh granola and fresh blueberries. They offer tea, coffee and they even have merch you can buy. And when it's warm, they have rooftop seating as well. The restaurant was decorated for the holidays and it was super cute. There's a nice amount of seating, so if you choose to stay and dine in, there's plenty of space for that. Stopped in on a raining morning to do some computer work and grab a coffee, The staff had a fun family vibe. With fun entertaining music and a great view of the Downtown KCMO skyline. I found the best seat in the house up front by the door looking out at the skyline. They offer several options of food and pastries. The seating area doesn't seem that big but the whole time I was there the crowd came and went quickly with plenty of seating the whole time. They have a drive through as well if you are on the go. I have been checking out different coffee shops around the KC area now for about a year and this is on of the best Lattes I have had. The drink was smooth, creamy and had a great flavor. Stopped by this café and had a pistachio croissant with a drip coffee. Employers were friendly and welcoming. The croissant was fresh and flavorful -- the pistachio filling added a nice touch without being overly sweet. The drip coffee was a medium roast, smooth and well-balanced. Prices were fairly average, but the overall quality made it worth it. I also really liked the vibe of the place -- relaxed, cozy, and a great spot to unwind or get some work done. Splitlog is such a charming gem nestled into the Strawberry Hill neighborhood of KCK. Every time I've been in I've been impressed with the clean, modern, ambiance and the super friendly vibes that the baristas give off. It can be hard to find a coffee shop that has such cool vibes that also has really kind folks working behind the bar. I'm yet to find the perfect drink here, but I'll for sure be back. I had the expresso, biscuit sandwich, and pistachio croissant. The sandwich was delicious. The biscuit was soft and flaky. The taste of the pistachio croissant was absolutely delicious but it seemed like it was a day old. It was hard and not fresh at all. I came there around 9AM. The coffee was mid. The taste was a bit watered down, but tolerable. The atmosphere was chill with a nice view from all windows and the service was pleasant. They had my coffee and food ready in less than 10 minutes. I probably would not return just due to the taste of the coffee and lack of quality in the croissant. The 3 stars are based on those 2 items. I've heard many great things about this place and was bummed I didn't get what I expected. But other than those two things everything else was great. read more

Came in to buy some new beans, and was pleasantly surprised to find out that they also give a free drip coffee or espresso shot with any purchase of a bag of beans. $18 for 340g of coffee beans, which seems fairly priced among all other coffee roasters. Espresso shot was bright and flavorful, well balanced without too much acidity or bitterness, with pleasant mouthfeel - seems like they have their espresso dialed in! Service was fast even with all the customers. There's also enough seating, with an upstairs area as well, so you can come by to finish some studying/work if you need to. They had some table options and bar style seating. I was able to try the coffee beans when I came home. Loved the bag packaging - well designed and aesthetic. There's a pull tab that you use to open their bag, and then it zipper seals. The attention to quality and usability is much appreciated. Coffee itself appears well roasted, and the flavors came through nicely when making a cappuccino at home. Would definitely recommend! read more

I'm certain this is a well loved spot, based on a steady flow of Saturday AM traffic. So nice to have another local coffee spot to try! Splitlog is close to Downtown, easy to get in/out of, has a drive thru and a lot of beautiful, comfy rooftop seating with a great Western view of Downtown KC (pictured). They have baked goods, pastry and some quick breakfast items, and best of all, they make their syrups in house. I had the breakfast bowl (ugly and oddly executed, but still tasty!) and the brown sugar cinnamon latte (also pictured). I wouldn't quite give a 5 rating, the food order/pickup needs more organization and the baristas seemed a little confused about their menu, maybe just new to their gig. But when we ended up with a long wait for our food, the kitchen staff came out twice with updates and offered free protein bites for the wait. I'll come back again, it's a great local spot - hopefully just a smoother trip next time. read more

Stumbled upon this coffee shop after a morning church event. My cousin and I had a great experience! I ordered the smallest latte size with their house-made brown sugar cinnamon syrup - delish! Love love love that it was in an actual glass - not a to-go cup. The fam and I don't live anywhere near here, however we drive all over KC to try out coffee shops. There are usually 2, or 3 places that we would consider the best around town, and the rest is a fun memory with the kids finding new places around KC that we haven't been to before. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting mush more than scratching another shop off the great list of unvisited coffee shops. That said, this place really delivered. I took a star away because the kitchen was closed and we can't comment on if the snacks are worth your time. The coffee however is about as good as you can get. They have a drive thru, some indoor seating, and an outdoor upper deck. So.....it can get busy for the barista to keep up, so there may be a wait. read more

My husband and I came here after our plan "B" elsewhere, at a local café, disappointed us with their brewed coffee. Anyhow, this was on our checklist of coffee shops in the metro to try out, and I am glad that we gave this place a shot for some much needed "good" java. They roast their own beans here, so this is a true coffee shop with the craft to boot. Husband had the cold brew and turned to me, and said, "Now this is coffee, have a taste." I had an iced mocha, with light chocolate. It was one of the tastiest iced mochas I've had without the need to hide their brew with a bunch of chocolate as many places do. It had some hint of caramel perhaps? Or I was hallucinating, but the secret is a treat. The barista knew exactly what I wanted with my iced mocha, and her service was prompt if not amazingly quick. She had her service down to a science, balancing the drive-thru and attending someone at the counter. Kudos to her balancing act. The coffee shop area was a delightful treat because it called to mind the Cartel Coffee roasting coffee shop we visited two months ago in Phoenix, AZ. You can look at my reviews to compare and you will see what I mean. Although that place was a house turned coffee shop, it had white walls with similar décor, beautifully colored expressionist pieces that livened the place. Strawberry Hill is lucky to claim this wonderful coffee shop! Ambiance is stellar with the perfect quintessential coffee shop feel, a little hipster, and the rooftop with the view of the city is FANTASTIC! The BLT was flavorful as heck - the bacon was cooked perfectly and the garlic aioli was the perfect accompaniment. However I don't think we'd order the veggie burrito again, it just wasn't anything special we hadn't had before. Not to say it wasn't tasty! Just not mindblowing. Baristas were friendly, and the coffee is some of the best I've had in the KC metro. I got the special white chocolate cranberry latte with oat milk and it was smooth and the flavors came out wonderfully. I'd love to try their strawberry vanilla house syrup next time! And there will absolutely be a next time, I can see myself posting up here on a nice relaxing Saturday for a read after visiting the nearby bookstore! read more

Splitlog is an adorable space with a nice view of the skyline. The place was packed (at around ~10 am on Saturday) and seating is somewhat limited. It does look like they have rooftop seating which will be awesome during the warmer months, especially given the view! I would hesitate to set up with a laptop for an extended period when seating is in such demand (at least during peak business hours). The staff was very friendly and handled the rush well. I just ordered a cold brew coffee, which was actually noticeably better than other cold brews I've had.. which surprised me because it is just cold brew. We planned to stop by for a quick cup of coffee. Then we stayed for 3 hours. Here's your warning that you'll be drawn in... The space is cozy, which coordinates well with the name. Great wood tones throughout with my favorite rustic black iron lighting. A wide variety of seating should appeal to most. During the cool morning, we sat on (one of) the rooftop terraces. Shade made it comfortable and we had a great skyline view. We then moved inside, where the view persisted and the A/C greeted us. We enjoyed cold brews and I got an insanely good honey knot pastry. I wish I was in town longer so I could come every single morning for a new drink/pastry combo. WiFi was solid, service was exceptional, and the music is nicely in the background via a network of HomePod minis. This may have to be my new go-to in the KC area. I've been a regular customer for several years, but over the last few months I've found myself frustrated on nearly every visit, making harder not to go elsewhere. They're almost always out of something (on multiple visits they were out of matcha, on this week's visit they were out of biscuits & gravy). They removed the bus tub and have no instructions anywhere so customers now have no idea what to do with their plates, and none of the 5 employees working behind the counter come out to collect them. The other day when I ordered a hot beverage "for here," it was served to me in a clear water glass rather than a mug?? And recently informed me they don't carry 2% milk, so if I want a beverage with 2% I have to go to a different coffee shop. I feel like I'm really trying to give the benefit of the doubt and keep coming back, but it's been a long time since I've left as a content customer eager to return. read more

The ambience is incredibly chill in here and the coffee is great! I'm probably gonna show my millennial but I wish they had more flavors to choose from/fun featured drinks.
