Do not come to this Beauty supply store. The prices are double what you would find somewhere else. They have very little amount of things you will actually need and I bought something today and it was already previously opened. Nasty place. Even if you use an online beauty supply store and pay shipping you would be paying the exact same amount you'll be paying if you go inside this store, but you'll be getting a new clean product. I get my hair done there all the time. Ms. Dee is the nicest person ever and loves conversation. She's cool to talk to. The only tick is that she just moved into a smaller store so give her time to adjust and organize her things around. She knows what to give you if you ask questions. My most recent hair appointment was Crochet Goddess Locs and the one before that were Marley Twists. She has all the hair in her shop so you don't have to go anywhere else to buy hair. I came here for the first time on Sunday November 12th at around 1 pm. They were the only Beauty Supply shop that was open near where I live in Germantown, so I decided to walk there on the whim that I might find some hair. I was greeted by the owner, Miss D, who was an elderly black woman that was very nice and very accommodating. I told her I needed to buy some hair for braiding, and that I preferred human hair. She had some very nice selections. I noticed that she had some salon chairs toward the back and it was empty, so I asked her if she had an opening for Hair Braiding appointment. She said absolutely, and called a lady named Miss Emily. I told miss Emily that I was in the middle of chemotherapy treatments, and that I could not have my hair braided too tight, due to already dealing with pain from my treatments. Miss Emily was very kind and very understanding, and when she started braiding my hair in the back, she asked me how it felt. I told her, I honestly couldn't feel a thing, and then she continued. She finished my hair in about 4 hours, and I could not have been more pleased. Miss Emily and Miss D we're very nice, and both of them made my day. I cannot recommend the shop enough. Miss D is very nice. She took quick a while to help me find the product I was looking for. The shop, though small, is well put together. I took off two stars because of the pricing. I paid $14 for a product that I could have gotten from Amazon for $7 and from Sally's for $9. I understand that smaller businesses can't charge the same as larger stores, but that's a heck of a markup lol. Prices aside, I will likely shop there again because Miss D carries products that Sally's does not. read more

I discovered Dee Beauty Supply and I am so glad that I have. Miss Dee is one of the sweetest souls that I have encountered in a long time. While I was there she said people always think they have to buy something when they come by but they can just stop by to say hello. What business owner is that friendly and hospitable nowadays? I called first to ask about salon services offered, then went in to meet staff to tell them what braid services I wanted for upcoming cruise. From the beginning, I felt welcomed, and the environment was warm and inviting. The cost of hair and braid style was settled up front and very affordable! I bought what I thought were weaves from Dee's beauty supply store, but a couple month later when I decided to have my hair done for the holidays I found that I was given 1 pack of weave and 1 pack of braids. I called Dee on the phone to complain about my purchase, well she said she couldn't remember and I should bring the product in for her to see When I took the product in the store she conveniently remembered " telling me it was 1 pack of braid and 1 pack of weave". What sense does that make, why would I make such a purchase when I don't even wear braids. I know more than like she couldn't take it back, but she could at least admit that she had made a mistake when she gave me the products. Ok. So I tried really hard to like this beauty supply place. I've gone in a total of three times within the past 2 or so years and every time I'm blown away at how this place has stayed in business for so long. The first time I went in there, a guinea pig(yes, a guinea pig) was in the back of the store. I thought the owner must really like her pet or be doing someone a petsitting favor, but in hindsight, having a caged animal near all those chemicals (not to mention having an animal that potential customers could be allergic to) wasn't cool and sorta gross. Not to mention highly unprofessional. The last time I went in there, I was looking for a product that was hard to find (an organic perm I had researched online to be exact). I had heard that some off market beauty supply stores may have it so I thought dee's was at least worth a shot. I spoke with who I assume is the owner of the store. She promised to speak with her distributor and let me know if she could purchase the product on my behalf within a week. This woman said she didn't believe that this was the product I needed, for but she would purchase it for me anyway. First of all, it was the product I needed. This woman just based her opinion on me based upon how my hair was styled at the time (thermo straightened) my age, (she must've thought I was a stupid kid even though I'm almost 30) and apparently my lack of experience as a hairdresser (yet my hair was longer and healthier than her own). Anyway, I thought I could at least trust this woman to look into this product and order me one to try. Instead, I waste two weeks only to go back there and have her tell me that she spoke with her distributor (and yet even though she could have ordered it), and she decided not to because she was afraid I would sue her. WTF?!? Why would I sue a business that I've never seen anyone besides myself going to? And why would this woman not want to make some sort of sale? There are plenty of people who buy products that don't work. They all don't go out and sue the places they bought them from. I didn't buy her lame argument, but instead of making issue of it, I left. Do not go to the store unless you too want to be controlled by someone who doesn't know you, your background, or obviously how to run a business. read more

I am someone who believe in spending my money with black owned businesses. I use to shop at Dee's Beauty Supplies until most recent. I decided to do my homework and researched other beauty supply stores in the area that offered the type of hair I use when getting my hair braided. And NO I do not use the girls in Dee's store to braid my hair, they are at best slightly below average. My research proved that Dee charges $5 more on her products than the other beauty supply stores. When I approached her with my findings from other beauty supply stores, she got indignant with me; so I told her she doesn't have to worry about me shopping with her anymore. Although, this experience with Dee is disheartening because I chose to spend my money with my own kind but my own kind has been getting over on me and charging me more money then other business owners of a different race.
