I had a bad experience with this salon. They came highly recommended so I was surprised at how they treated me. I called and booked an appt that was for the following week. When asked for a preference on stylist I asked for a short bob and highlights and she said she could pair me with a stylist that knows bobs. Cool. I was a new client so I figured waiting a week was typical. When I arrived she was super friendly. Sat me down and started asking me what I wanted. I mentioned the bob and as I was showing her pictures of different colors of highlights I was thinking about. She stopped me and said that she actually couldn't do a bob style haircut. She said I would need to call back to book a particular stylist and she gave me his name and number. I was a little stunned so I kinda just got up and said goodbye. Before I left I asked her if I offended her and she laughed and said not at all but that she just doesn't do bobs. I called the salon back about an hour later to book with the person she recommended and I was going to have to wait a month just to see him. At that point I did feel like they didn't want me as a client and I certainly wasn't going to call back for a third way for them to tell me to go away. I walked in to a place just across the street the next day and got a great cut so all is well that ends well I suppose. I just don't understand what happened. read more

Tried to schedule an appointment dir a cut and color and first they insisted on doing a color consult because I have used box color in the past three years. HELLO - COVID shut most salons down for about a year. Is there anyone out there who colors their hair that did NOT have to resort to box color for that time frame? What really irritates me is that they can't book a color appointment for 5-6 weeks. Seriously? This might be the place for you if you can plan and wait a month and a half for services, but I don't have that flexibility. Two weeks tops is reasonable wait. I have gotten my brunette hair highlighted (blonde) for years and years. I've always struggled with how quickly my roots grow out and with what color is best for me. I finally went to see Michelle and, after learning she had 16 years of experience at high end salons, just gave her free rein to do what she felt needed to be done. WOW!!! I am so glad I did. I've never been to a better hair salon in my life. Kelsey is a hair God After a year and a half of struggling to find the perfect salon for me, my close friend told me about Deep Roots and recommended Kelsey! I'm a natural brunette, so of course I wanted to go lighter for a big change. Kelsey, along with Justice and Megan, were absolutely phenomenal. They were funny, kind, honest professionals. As we were going through colors, they recommended honey blonde. I walked in with dozens of photos and left Kelsey to decide what would look best on my hair (YUP. SHE'S THAT GOOD/TRUSTWORTHY). Kelsey was able to keep my hair super healthy throughout the lightening process (this visit was step one). Barely any breakage. I can't wait to go back and see these girls. After my hair had been long neglected due to the pandemic, it was time for a refresh. Michelle Gonzales took care of me from start to finish. She took the time to ask what I've done in the past to my hair, what I'm looking for now and came up with a plan that would work with the current (old) color. Krista, as always, is absolutely stellar! I've been seeing her for about a year and 8 months. I had a quite a difficult situation where my hair was much darker than I wanted to keep it which was entirely my fault because I did a toner OUTSIDE of Deeps Roots late '22 and it turned very dark. I definitely learned my lesson! She lightened the color WITHOUT bleach so my hair wasn't damaged, it didn't turn red or orange, and then she managed to color correct my grey/red-ish roots all in one visit. The color is magnificent! It was well beyond what I could have hoped for and I didn't have a single bit of damaged hair. It actually looks and feels even better than before and I swear I'm not kidding. Deep roots is a good salon. Tons of stylist to choose from, everyone is super nice, and the salon is pretty and laid back with great reminders of appts. However, the price is very high. I received very light trim, with no styling and paid 75.00 for it. YIKES. I can understand if it was a full cut and style but it wasn't. I recommend having two hair cut cost. One for trims and no style and the other full style and cut. It would be nice for those clients who do not take up more time or resources. read more

Deep Roots is by far my favorite salon in the Austin area. Every time I go into the salon I can tell from pre pandemic to post pandemic how much care they take into keeping the salon clean and germ free. I have always felt comfortable in the space. The last time I went in there masks were not required and it was AMAZING! It felt so good to be able to talk with my stylist and the deep roots team. I went in during the pandemic when masks were were required and it was hard to communicate but never felt like at anytime that I was "at risk" or that the team wasn't taking precautions. I also can not recommend Val G enough. I always recommend her to all my family and friends. I have curly course blond hair and she literally saved my hair. She always listens and gives me honest feedback and is the best hype woman. All the stylist at the salon are always learning and taking classes.
