The owner is exceptionally nice and fun to talk to. Now, the Cajun food....not gonna be your top notch traditional Cajun food. Gumbo needs more seasoning and better shrimp. But hey, we're in Joplin Mo...(not) in the heart of Louisiana. Overall, I really enjoyed the place. And it's such a comfortable place to eat or have a cocktail!

Unfortunately, the seafood boils were very disappointing and fell far below expectations. The ingredients appeared low quality and were served lukewarm, which really impacted the experience. The crab legs were extremely difficult to crack, likely due to improper cooking and holding, making them nearly inedible. There was also a noticeable lack of seasoning across the boil no seasoning on the crab, crawfish, potatoes, or corn, and even the butter was unseasoned. I would also do away with oysters as they need to be extremely fresh to be served, and if we can't go above and beyond with fresh imports I don't see the point. On a positive note, the gator bites were excellent and absolutely deserve a permanent spot on the menu they were flavorful and clearly prepared with care. The Louisiana pan-fried special was also quite good. Unfortunately, the seafood boil alone was enough to keep us from returning unless significant improvements are made, this really shows the quality of the seafood and the integrity on this item isn't there with quality.

That personal connection aside, Crabby's delivers an experience that feels both elevated and welcoming. It does lean towards being a bit more expensive, but the quality of the food and the care in presentation make it worth the splurge. I ordered the gnocchi marsala with chicken, and it was nothing short of heavenly. Pillowy gnocchi paired with a rich, savory sauce that lingered beautifully. Mrs. K. chose the salmon pancetta, which arrived as a work of art on the plate, perfectly cooked and elegantly presented. She enjoyed it very much, savoring each bite. And of course, we couldn't resist ending the evening with a crème brûlée: creamy, infused with vanilla, and topped with that satisfying caramelized crust that cracks just right under the spoon. Crabby's is the kind of place where you go not just to eat, but to celebrate, to linger, and to enjoy the finer side of dining in Joplin. It's polished without being pretentious. When I explained that I was asking where they were from, she had to go find out. Turns out they had Delaware. So the next day we went to have some. I could literally smell them as she approached the table. We asked her to take them back because they smelt horrible. She told us that all oysters smelled horrible. When we denied that she said it might be because the fish truck would be there the next day so they were probably too old. Seriously? Who trains these waitresses? The rest of our order wasn't as we asked but it was ok. Won't be back.

Beer; that's the answer to all this restaurant's woes…read more Just make sure that you're at least three beers in before you order. The food is mostly deep fried and generally undercooked. Obviously, the fryer is under temp or the "Chef" (can you actually call them a chef?) didn't leave the frozen Alaskan Pollack in long enough to warm the center of the fish nuggets inside the fish tacos. It was mushy from under cooking. The baked oysters, described on the menu showed black pepper and parmesan cheese baked to perfection. I wondered if the person preparing them knew that they were supposed to put parmesan cheese on the oysters. The oysters showed up as baked oysters with black pepper and black pepper. If you are wondering if I'm always giving bad reviews? Look at my Applebees and Crabby Bills reviews. The service was lacking in something to be desired. Can you say, house flies? Sheese! Just do us all a favor and make sure you are at least two sheets into the wind before you decide to order.
