I live close to this place and decided to try it out. My first visit was very nice and they were very helpful, but as I kept going they became worse and worse with being organized. I was trying to get my contacts and they took an extra week from the time I was supposed to get them because they kept telling me they were going to order them and then they ordered them a week later... unacceptable Then my sister went and she received new glasses with glare resistant, but when she got home I looked at them and they were wrong. When she called the doctor they said oh yes we did not put them on........ why not?? Are they trying to scam us or the insurance.... I do not like this place and I will NOT be going back. read more

I've been coming here since I was in high school (almost 10 years) and have received consistent and quality service throughout. Even when I had a mishap with a glasses order - I had placed an order with LensCrafters but needed my prescription from Del Amo and found that I could not see through my LensCrafters glasses because Del Amo had given me my contacts prescription on accident - my issue was resolved. Mike at Del Amo had my lenses replaced with the correct prescription at no cost (thanks Mike!). Am giving 4 stars only because the frames selection is limited (hence why I purchased through LensCrafters). read more

Dr. Quick was very good. She explained everything as she went along with the testing. Made me feel very comfortable with the procedure. I did opt to include $ extra in Exam a intensive glaucoma and cataracts exam. It was worth it. She explained what to look for as our eyes change with time. When I picked up my sunglasses I realized when I turn my head certain ways there were small blur spots. I clean the lenses multiple times and then I got in the right sunlight and realized there's engraving in the lens with y25. It's on both the right and the left lens about eye level partially to the outside of the lens. Whenever my eye hits that spot it's a blur. I called and asked them why that was there and they said it was because they are progressive lenses. I told them it interferes in my vision and they told me I could come back and get them replaced and pay more money for a different lens. Those lenses already cost $450 and I don't know why they would not tell me up front of the problem and let me choose before I made my purchase. I'm not paying another dime and I'll go have them remade somewhere else. I have worn progressive lenses for 20 years and never had this issue yet they tell me that's always on the lenses. read more

Del Amo Optometry: From good to poor....just sliding down: Service Style.... My last visit is my last visit. The big disconnect between optometrist Dr. Quick and the rest of the staff, opticians Hugo & Mike, front desk and office manger. I want to start by saying that Dr. Quick seems to provide competent exams. That said, Dr. Quick should be aware of or is but does not care about the lack of competent service, guidance, style or expertise happening with the opticians. Or when you call with a possible medical eye situation, the front desk says you will be called back right away...(insert cricket sound......waiting....waiting....) still no return call... Had to find another place for treatment...!!! HUGE FAIL..!!! Office manager tried to make amends with some chocolates, Ok but, meh. Their website says "We are the Doctors who examine your eyes... so we stand behind our work." This might be said for the exams but not frames, lenses, service or satisfaction. They are fast to tap-in to your insurance $$$, and take your cash, but unwilling to stand behind the product they sell, the lenses they make or have made, frames and how they might suit you. A little guidance with new lenses could go along way, i mean we are talking about the way we see EVERYTHING. The opticians acted like they had never heard of someone not being comfortable with the new lenses or frames not seeming the same in use at home etc. Really, if corrective/prescription lenses are necessary shouldn't eyeglass frames and all the options be the fun part? read more

I only came here to find new frames, which I was able to find. But the customer care is terrible. I ordered my frames about a month ago & have still not received them. I did not even receive get a courtesy call telling me that my frames would even be more delayed than before. I had to contact them myself to find out why I did not get a call around the time they had estimated for me to receive my new frames. From calling them myself, I found that I'm supposed to get my new frames TWO months after I ordered them. They even asked me for a number to contact me with which they should already have on file. I have never worn glasses before so I called Del Amo optometry because they take my insurance. When I made my appointment I had several questions about my benefits and I was happy to know that the person helping me was able to answer all my questions which made me very comfortable. When I arrived to my appointment I waited 45 mins for the doctor to see me, I felt the exam was too fast. I was help with glasses and the checking out was a breeze. My glasses will be ready In a few days, I am so excited. The girls taking payments and checking in patients were very pleasant. I've been here several times, because I like Dr. Quick. The staff, not so much. The last time I ordered new lenses, I was told "about a week," which turned into three weeks. During all that time, no one at the front desk bothered to apologize for the delay or utter kind words to ease the inconvenience. On two occasions, I asked when they expected the lenses to be in; in both cases, they said they would check and call me back; no one called me back. Another negative is help with choosing frames. The two guys are polite and professional, but have no knowledge of what frames are appropriate and are no help when it comes to choosing frames. I like good customer service and am willing to pay for it. Except for Dr. Quick, this is not the place for me. read more

The first time I went here for my annual exam, I really liked the doctor, an Asian lady that no longer works there. I wish I remembered her name. The following year, Dr Quick had replaced her & she lived up to her name in a bad way. It seemed like she was in a hurry to get me out of there. I live in the area and the hours were perfect for me to stop in get a check and Rx for contacts and glasses. Everything went well until the Doc asked that I wear my contacts for 2-weeks (to test them out) and return to get my Rx. I haven't been back to get the Rx...mainly because I don't have time. I was running late to my appointment due to heavy traffic but they said it was okay that they would tell the doctor. My husband has been going to Dr. Quick since he was younger, and since our family moved to the area, he's continued to see her. I go for annual eye exams, and this was the first year we've taken our girls in. I have always felt comfortable with Dr. Quick. She is very efficient, knowledgeable, and really takes time to explain everything and answer any questions. When I took my daughters in (two separate days, because of our schedule!) she continued to be very thorough. My 10 year-old was on the cusp of needing glasses, and Dr. Quick explained how through development, our eyes change, and since my daughter had not complained of any difficulty in reading or having blurry vision, she didn't NEED them, but if she started to have trouble doing homework, reading, etc. then it would benefit her. I really appreciated Dr. Quick's honesty! So we didn't get them for probably two months. It was at that time, my daughter said she would like to see if it helped, so we called to make another appointment to come in, and were told we welcome to come in at our convenience to pick out frames and get her measured, and get them ordered. And it WAS convenient! Her glasses came about a week later, sat down with Mike to make sure it was a perfect fit, and now she's a glasses wearer, when doing homework and at school :) Plenty of parking and easy accessibility on the corner of Anza and Sepulveda. It was time once again to get my semi annual eye exam. I have been coming to Del Amo Optometry for close to 15 yrs. Dr, Quick always gives me a through exam and clearly explains everything I need to be aware of. She explains to me in easy to understand terminology what has changed and what my issues are. Our family has been seeing Dr. Quick for many years. We've always had great service, which is nice because we left our previous eye doctor after having bad service from the front desk staff. Just two days ago I was in with my seven-year-old son and the doctor was really wonderful with him. It was his first eye doctor appointment and we learned all about his eyes--shape, size, eyelashes, moisture levels, health--so that we have ideas about what his future eye problems, if any, are most likely to be. Dr. Quick is obviously one of those doctors who loves her field and spending time with patients. I'd recommend the office to anyone. I saw another reviewer post about a lack of glasses selection. To me it seems like they have tons of choices. I once took an hour to go through and choose (driving Michael nuts but he was nice anyway). read more

Been going for a few years. The service is way down. The Dr's rushes the exam through. Honestly you are just a number there. No bedside manner at all. The exam is maybe 15 mins and you can tell she is rushing to get to the next patient. The glass selection is good, that's really why I keep going back. Was shocked at the treatment I received today from the gentleman who fits the glasses he showed us a display of glasses that was covered by my insurance and my daughter looked at those and did not like what she saw. I asked him if my daughter chose glasses not covered how much and he said 20% off. Well my daughter chose some glasses not covered and I asked how much those were with a special lens and instead of him just giving me the price he said they are expensive, I told him that I would pay for them. Not sure why he would think i did not or could not afford the glasses because they were in his words EXPENSIVE he kept pressing the issue of them being expensive and I said more than once I would pay for them. I felt embarrassed because they were other customers in the waiting room and I felt humiliated because of the treatment I received. I paid for the glasses and will wait for them to come in but will take my business elsewhere. Dr. Quick is nice and I appreciate her for her detailed exam, the front office girls could be a little bit more friendlier all it takes is a smile. I have been going to Del Optometry for a few years. Louise Quick lives up to her name, she is "quick!" But thorough, kind, and has much expertise. I have become more friendly with the whole staff. I believe, when you are kind to others, they will be kind in return. Anywhere you go it is possible to be treated well, and they do! I enjoy going there, and talking with the receptions, and there are many, at least four I think. So there's always someone to help. It helps if you remember that they close the office for lunch. They have never turned me away, during open hours! Lol it's a happy environment. And a nice office. I would recommend this optometrist and staff and entire office. They serve others well. Remember to go with an open mind and positive attitude, and I will do the same. :) read more

I've had little to say about this place that impresses me. Their service is hit and miss. Sometimes it takes more than 2 weeks to get my glasses but the last few times, less than a week. However what's the most frustrating thing are the hours. They are only open til 6:00 and on Saturdays they have very limited hours. So when I was 1 minute late today to pick up my glasses because I have to come through rush hour traffic, their lights are off and no one will open the door. That tells me they care little for my business. That's ok, they have limited selections and their prices are high. I will go where my business is wanted and when I rush to the door clearly trying to make it on time, they won't leave me standing there like an idiot. read more

Terrible customer service. I went in to get a prescription back in September 2011, four months later, I still haven't been able to get it from them. It's a long story of frustration so I'll leave out the details. The only good experience I had is with the optometrist who was very kind and accommodating. The receptionists, however, were rude, talked over me and blamed me for the delay in my order, which they never submitted in the first place. They tell me the manager will call me but is never available to speak, even when I came into the store. The customer service is terrible. I'm still trying to get in contact with the manager to tell him what I've experienced. I will never return to Del Amo Optometrist. read more

I started going there because my friend Lori T. recommended them. I would take Lori to the office after her stroke and I was amazed at how well the staff and Dr. dealt with her (Lori is unable to walk by herself and needs help communicating with others). I started out with contacts and the Dr made several recommendations before we settle on the monthlies. Currently I travel from Montebello to Torrance because I appreciate the service not to mention the through exam that I get. The only downside was when Lori moved we did have to get her records copied several times because when they were suppose to be they weren't, but then having dealt with the medical field for as long as I have i wasn't surprise at all that they hadn't gotten them copied as fast as we would have liked (but show me an office that has records ready with in a few days and I'll show you just how incomplete they'll be). I'll keep going there until i move where it's to far to travel to her or I die. read more

Absolutely useless and no idea what they are doing but they sure charge a lot for this lack of help and knowledge. Over $300.00 for a pair of glasses that cheaply made with no extras (scratch guard, tinting, etc.) that was my cost after insurance. BTW you pay that BEFORE you get the glasses and are SOL if you are worried about fit or vision issues as you are told to "try them out for a few weeks". After you walk out door and they have your money don't look for any kindness.Now still having headaches since after receiving my glasses I have a scratch in one lens and was told it would cost $297.00 for new ones! My advise to all, is stay away and look for a better place to do business with if your going to spend your hard earned money. read more

I went in April/May 2014 for my yearly exam. I first saw an Asian woman who gave me new contacts for my left eye only. This was a 400 for my left eye and she said my right eye was only 25 so contacts were not needed for the right eye. While my eyes were being examined she put one of the lenses over my right eye and asked if that helped my vision, of course it did, but she still insisted I did not require contacts for my right eye because 25 I guess is close to perfect vision? Within one week of getting the contact for my left eye I had to go back in because everything was blurry, I could not read a thing. Dr. Quick was there and looked at my eyes and said my eyes have changed. This is one week later and instead of 400 now my left eye has changed to 450 and I still didn't need a contact for my right eye. She explained it wasn't their fault my eyes changed so fast. She said it happens all the time. Needless to say I had to pay again for the contacts because the package with the 400 contacts had been opened and they would not take them back for an exchange. I have been going to Del Amo Optometry for about four years because their hours work for me...........I will not go back again, it's all about the money for them. As for the girls behind the desk ---- at first they were extremely rude. They have learned along the way how to do their job and now they do it very well. It is the company as a whole, it just doesn't work for me. read more

Best optometry place I've been to so far. Friendly staff, the girls are awesome especially the girl with the glasses. She was very welcoming and knowledgeable. It's a shame great businesses are being affected by bad yelp reviews despite the many good ones it can have. I had a great experience. Dr. Quick was great except, I found it pointless having to check in 15 minutes prior my set appointment to be advised that she is running 15 - 20 minutes behind schedule. read more
