I started going to Shaida for my eyebrows back in the winter after I read other reviews and I've been going every month since! I've had my eyebrows done at other salons but they've never looked this good. Because my eyebrows were so thinned out from years of doing them or having them done incorrectly, it took a little while to get a shape again. However, I now have that arch we all want which opens up my eyes and that's all thanks to Shaida. Also, one of my favorite things about each appointment is that she takes the time to explain any areas we still need to watch, which allows me to notice the progress each month. I'd recommend her for eyebrows to anyone and even though I'm moving to another part of the city in September, I'll definitely still be coming to see Shaida for my monthly appointment! read more

I've been to Del Ara once before for a simple hair cut, it was fine but seemed a little pricey for "just fine." I figured I'd give it another shot, so I scheduled an appointment before my engagement photos and 20 minutes before the appointment (which I scheduled weeks in advance) they called and asked if I could do an hour later instead. I told them that would work because of the engagement shoot and after being put on hold was told "well your hairstylist is running behind but she said she'll get to you whenever she can." I ultimately just canceled the appointment because I couldn't risk being late for the photos. I understand things come up, but I was really put off by the rudeness. read more

I have been going to Kristen for a little over a year now and she is absolutely amazing. She completely transformed my hair from being gross and dry to soft and smooth. I now go back every 8-10 weeks religiously and have never once left without being completely satisfied with my hair. Just for reference: I only get a cut and have long brown frizzy/curly hair. This is a great salon, friendly staff located in the North End which is a quick walk Faneuil hall. I always make a stop at one of my favorite lunch spots or grab a quick cappuccino after my appointments. I've never had "a hair stylist." I've always been the type to just go into a Dellaria and make an appointment with whoever could take me ASAP. I happened into this place last year randomly from the good Yelp reviews (when it was under former management) and in one visit I was hooked. Jenna and Kristen are fantastic. They LISTEN! It's crazy how many people in this profession don't know how to listen to their clients. I've been going here every 3-4 months for over a year now for a cut, color, wash, and blow dry and I will never go anywhere else. One more thing.. I don't know if it's because I'm still a newbie at having a specific stylist.. but both Jenna and Kristen remember little details about my life from previous conversations... after MONTHS of not seeing me!!! I was shocked.. do they keep files on their clients or something?! This is how you know you've struck gold. I used to go to this salon before it was called Del'Ara and I really love what the new owner has done with it. It's bright and beautiful in there now. I've been going to Shaida for eyebrow threading and to get my hair cut for a couple of years. She convinced me to do a Keratin treatment last year and it changed my life! She's great at everything I see her for and so friendly as well. Definitely one of those hair dressers you can tell/ say anything to- she's basically a shrink that can make you look pretty. :) Her new salon is just like her, cute, inviting and warm. It makes you want to stick around, sit down and hang out. I've never had Kristin or Jenna do my hair but I've seen their work and it's fantastic as well. I have had Shaida thread my eyebrows and it's been amazing! She is really gentle but gets the work done. She also works on you with your shape. She will listen to what you tell her but give her honest and professional opinion on your shape. She really is the best person I have had thread my eyebrows, and i had no pain at all. I also had Amanda color and cut my hair. She is fabulous as well. I have very dark asian hair and she was able to lighten my hair to highlights with blonde in it, without any red tones or brassiness in it. Everyone is friendly there and I like that it is not located on a main road like Hanover, so it's a little quieter, they also can validate your parking for up to 3 hours for 1$ an hour! read more

I could not have been more impressed during my first visit/experience at Del Ara. Shaida's vision and talent is magical. I have long, thick and very dark brown hair and was looking to brighten my overall look with a balayage. Shaida worked off the pictures I showed her and the result came out even better than the pictures. She thoughtfully explained her thought process in how, why and where she was coloring, to make me feel comfortable the whole way through. Going from a dark brunette to rocking blonde balayage can be a big difference and I am obsessed with the outcome. She also colored it in a way that will accommodate my desire to make this a low maintenance look that won't require frequent trips to the salon all year. The entire process took 5 hours and everyone at the salon pitched in to make the look a success. I want to thank Shaida and team for their dedication and for making me feel like a million bucks! I have followed Kristin religiously while living in Boston for my hair. This salon is located right off of Hanover st, super convenient to get to. I used to go to Newbury st to get my hair done, but Del Ara has very competitive prices and is just as good (if not better) than the salons in the newbury st area. Always offered coffee, water, or tea when I go in. The girls working are nice and the decor is welcoming. When I first went to Kristin, I had platinum blonde hair that had been abused by many a stylist in Boston. It was dry, orange-tinted in areas, and the wrong cut for my face shape. Kristin corrected all these problems and more. Then recently when I needed to go darker, she did an amazing job picking the right color for me. Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE my super light blonde hair, and after she colored it darker I thought I would need time to get used to it. Nope...I left the salon after she was done LOVING the color. I sing her praises to everyone, and Yelp needs to know! I've also had my hair done by Shaida. I've been here three times over the course of a couple years, each time thinking my experience would get better. But, each time with a different hair dresser, just going for a wash, cut and dry, I was disappointed. They do a nice job styling hair, but then you leave not knowing the quality of the cut itself, which, in my experience, I've always found uneven and poor after the fact. The hair dressers also seem more interested in gossiping with each other than in caring for their customers. read more

I don't trust anyone with my eyebrows except for Shaida. I'm Iranian and, like all other Iranian or Middle Eastern girls out there, I am very particular about my eyebrows. They have to be shaped in a way that matches my face. The only other place in the world that can thread my eyebrows the way Shaida does is in Iran! I don't have time to go to her as often as I would like, but in an ideal world, I would be at Del Ara ever 2-3 weeks for my eyebrows. Shaida is my eyebrow angle! I can't speak for anyone else at Del Ara because I've only had my eyebrows done by Shaida. Once I also got a haircut from Shaida which was fabulous. I came into Del Ara Salon yesterday with a groupon deal they have featured. I was set up with Kristin for a wash, cut, blow dry and ombré. I showed her some pictures of how I would like the ombré and she did the best to her ability to do so on the first try. Unfortunately the first time around my hair color didn't seem to lift as much as I had wanted to. I left the salon, happy, yet not completely in love with my hair. This morning I spoke with Kristin about possibly coming back in to see if there was anything more we could do before I left Boston this coming weekend. Without hesitation she scheduled me an appointment this afternoon for the color correction.
