We booked a 1 bedroom cottage and it was perfect for our family of three. It was spacious and clean. The kitchen had everything we needed including a gas stove and oven, microwave, full size fridge, toaster, and plenty of dishes and utensils. The bathroom was large and handicap accessible which was a nice touch. The beach is very clean and there is a playground for kids that is very well kept which was great for our little one. There are mostly RV spots here so the cottages are limited but definitely worth booking if you want more space and comfort. One thing to note is that it can get VERY loud at night due to trains constantly passing through and sometimes military night training in the area which can make quite a bit of noise. Other than that we really didn't have any complaints. We would definitely love to come back and stay here again!

Friendly grounds- maintenance staff (Gardner) Cons- really tight spots, trains over night running close with horns, really unfriendly office staff - there was an older women maybe in her 60s that told our daughter she couldn't ride her bike in the empty spots. These spots were empty the entire trip and I was able to watch my disabled son while keeping eyes on her. The woman took it upon herself to tell her ride somewhere else and not discuss it directly with us. When my husband confronted her, she told us to read our bi- laws. They were not in the bi laws. She kept going around looking for citations on campers - very miserable woman. Just know if you're going to camp here she's likely going to try to make your time miserable. Someone please take away her assistant manager push pin someone gave her. She's clearly chasing business away.

We realized after our first night that the spot was not going to work for us, it was too small for our travel trailer and large truck. We went to the onsite office and asked about changing spots. The three ladies in the office didn't hesitate and immediately went to work looking for a larger spot for us. They did, spot #104. And not only did they allow us to move, they didn't charge us the difference for the remaining 3 nights. Customer Service is alive and well here at Escondido RV Resort! Their website had a few pictures of what it looked like. So wife and I took a chance and decided to book a 3 night 4 day stay. The day before our reservation we went to just check it out, just to get a feel of what it looked like and man were we very pleasantly surprised. Met the proprietors and explained we booked a reservation for the next day. Not paying attention to the website I booked a room in the bunk house. Scott and Marla upgraded us to one of the tents. We 2ere so glad they did. We arrived around 2 pm on the day of our reservation and were immediately greeted by Scott and Marla they were very gracious and even assisted in unloading and moving coolers and luggage to the tent. Got to the tent and man was I surprised... queen sized bed with dresser and night stands. If I hadn't known better I'd have said it was a very upscale hotel room... carpeted floor nice deck with gas fire pit and nice nostalgic cooler with water and ice all set up. After conversing with the proprietors they gave us a quick tour of the grounds. Was amazed by the grounds and to hear Scott talk he has amazing plans for the rest of the grounds. Could tell he loved what he was doing. We got checked in and made our way to the tent. As we understood it there was to be 2 more couples arriving the same day. We later found out the other couples cancelled and we were the only GLAMPERS on the site. Not complaining was great. So after unpacking it was chill time. My wife took a nice 3 hour nap and I seriously enjoyed the view, the nice breeze and couple of adult cocktails and took in the solitude of the surroundings. That night and every night we stayed, I slept like a rock. Was so comfortable and quiet it was great. The doves cooing in the morning, the coyotes and owls at night. It was a world away right in our own backyard. I am definitely going to book here again. Scott and Marla were very gracious and accommodating host and hostess. I like the fact it is adults only 18 and up. No kids or pets. If you're looking for a nice adult get away this is definitely a place to go. Only thing negative and given the current pandemic situation can't call it a negative since it was circumstances beyond their control, was the restaurant was closed and they are not sure when they'll be able to reopen but the did have a BBQ area. Which we utilized last 2 nights there.

We have been in the management business for over 20 years before retiring and believe me its no picinic trying to please all your tenants and keep a smile at the same time. I really do like this park and would recomend it to anyone that wants a place to park their RV and have double space of what you have in some of the "RV RESORTS" such a higher price amount.

The "Enchanting Blueberry Farm" it is called - and behind that name are actual blueberries! First of all, finding this place was an adventure, due to the lack of a real physical address. You have to locate this place with the help of a GPS. There are two actual ways to get there: one is up a winding mountain, where you and your car will have to drive off the edge to get there (Nah, don't do it! Just back the vehicle up, just like we did, and take the other route!); the other will be provided to you with the help of Ron's maps and hand-drafted directions (it's that adventurous!), which will take you through a small town called Rainbow near Fallbrook. It only took us about 1.5 hrs from San Diego city to get here and once you reserve your spot on their website, Ron, the owner of this camping site of a beaut (He is a very busy man who you may not see very much of; but if you do, he is nice and will come to greet you and make sure that you are happy), will e-mail you the instructions. Now, onto the rest of the details: I could not believe the warmth and friendly welcome by the family that runs the farm! It was unbelievable - like I was taking a trip to some friendly island where people put a wreath of flowers over your head to greet and welcome you. Instead of getting that, you get a handful of plump and delicious blueberries lovingly propped into your hands. All of the family members, including the kids greet you with a friendly handshake and tell you their name. This was no gimmick, rather a heartfelt welcome. I almost wanted to cry. I don't remember the last time I was treated this way while away on a trip. Wow. The area is a beautiful rural area around the mountains, so the weather is bright and sunny during the day and nice and cool at night (the way camping weather should be *wink*)! You will see the farm family's house and then lots of trees in a blueberry "vineyard" when you first drive up. Then, you drive to your camp spot, passing scattered orchards of oranges, lemons and other trees featuring unusual, yet delicious fruits! There is also a farm garden with some banana trees, raspberry bushes and some chickens and a rooster. Mr. Rooster will wake you at the break of dawn :) We stayed at the Banana site #3. the ground here is of dirt and provides a softer base. Building your tent on top of this soil will harbor funny surprises of moles that come out of their holes to rustle the floor of your tent while you are sleeping. You get all the wonderful sounds of nature at night, from the ground moles (or whatever they are), peacocks and the coyotes howling away at dusk. lots of space available for you to enjoy some privacy from other campers and a little tinkle on the ground at night, if you don't make it to the toilet room! The amenities are a bathroom situated alongside the farmhouse with a toilet and shower. The downsides to this is that there is only one on the site and that there is no warm running water at the time. But the cold water was fine for a quick shower. Also, the bathroom needed to be maintained and cleaned. There were some cleaning supplies there and a broom and a water hose, so I cleaned periodically during my stay. I like that recycled materials were used to make the toilet/bathroom. There is also clean, running water at most campsites! Here, you can go hiking, enjoy the fruit on the trees (try the caterpillar berries - yum!!!) and hear legends about the area from the kids who live on the farm. They are so helpful and will assist you in any way! There are also fire pits on the sites. So much more could be said about this place but, I just loved it here and would love to camp here again in the future!!

It's a great opportunity to see the zoo after it closes and before it opens to the crowds. The staff were wonderful, friendly and helpful. It was really amazing to hear the animals at night. Beau the lion was very vocal all night and morning long. But we didn't mind one bit. We would definitely want to do this again and now having some insight we can be more prepared for next time. The only con both my husband and I had was that we wish you could do a 2 night stay. It would be nice to have an area to go back to and rest while exploring the park when it opens after your first night there. Because we didn't get much sleep and we wanted to make sure our son got his feel of animals a rest spot in our tent would have been awesome. And we would have happily paid for a 2 night stay. If you are planning on going with your significant other or as a family here are things to think about when booking or to bring. 1.) If you are local you can just book a regular tent with cots and bring your own bedding. You don't have to pack a ton of clothes as you are only there for the night and the next day if you choose to stay in the park after the Roar and Snore is over. They do handle all your luggage and bedding for you which makes it nice. 2.) If you are visiting out of state and do not have bedding you'll want/need to upgrade to a tent that has everything for you. Even if I still lived in Escondido I would just pay for the upgraded tent. 3.) The food they serve is just like what they sell in their food court area. Burgers and hot for dinner with other little sides. They definitely keep you well fed throughout your stay. Dinner, then after your evening stroll s'mores, popcorn and hot coco. Then breakfast the next morning. 3.) Bring a red light flashlight so you can see the animals better at night. We will do this for next time. 4.) If you're a light sleeper and cannot sleep with noise from the snoring I. Your tent or the roaring outside your tent, bring ear plugs.

This was hands down much better and realistic of an option especially for So-cal residents and families with kids. I was really nervous with low expectations about throwing $1100 for 1 night of this with grandma who wanted to sleep in a bed. The pacing overall was fine and realistic. Confused about checking in since we came first thing in the morning to see elephants and explore the park before. Really appreciate that they gathered our overnight belongings closer to 430 and we checked in with a brief guided tour through elephants to our tent. Love the night hike idea as our 4 year old was ecstatic and stayed up until 930PM with snores and bingo. Bed was comfortable. From 230AM onwards I was woken up by lions roaring Morning was gorgeous and private tram and presentation was very enjoyable. You can stay in the park afterwards which was nice (two for one special admission) For the downsides, food was definitely disappointing. I know these are animal enthusiasts and meant to be educational, but the food was so underwhelming for even someone who's not picky and camps. I highly recommend anyone to bring baked goods or your own simple camping food. Be careful of ants taking everything otherwise. Tip: if you come before 4PM try to get some food from Mkutano house or fill up your bellies.
