0 star - Worst Manicure Experience I called ahead and specifically requested their best technician -- this was not it. I came in with healthy, well-grown nails and left disappointed on every level. My cuticles were butchered. They were perfectly healthy before, and now they're choppy and damaged. She also cut my nails too short despite me showing her a reference photo of exactly what I wanted -- a squared shape. She clearly didn't know how to execute it. The nail polish application is chunky and uneven. Instead of using a brush to clean up the edges, she was using her own fingernail to scrape along the sides of my nails. I had to ask her multiple times to stop because it was uncomfortable and scratching me. On top of all that -- no hand massage, no cuticle oil, no top coat. Basic steps that should be standard were completely skipped. I'm especially frustrated because I called the owner beforehand and asked to be booked with someone skilled. This was supposedly their best. I will not be returning and would not recommend this salon to anyone who values their nails or their time. This is what 'their best' looks like. Horrible. read more

I have been consistently going to Del Mar nails for almost a year now and I have been so obsessed. Started off with Gel X and now only do a gel fills because my nails are healthy and strong! I always get compliments on them at least twice a month. I have NEVER experienced my nails popping off and I go to the gym 4-5x a week. They last 4-5 weeks and I always get the same color style (except for the one time I did French tip haha). My go-to is Bubble Bath with chrome! Such a pretty color that lasts weeks. Highly recommend anyone at the salon bc they all do a great job. No one has failed me. Price is reasonable - for a mani pedi, it's about $120. Everyone is friendly and always welcomes me with a smile. They have waters and drinks at the ready if you ask as well and the salon is clean. Overall a great experience for anyone looking to pamper themselves with a fresh set. 2 of my friends have been converted into loyal customers after I raved about them! Salon was clean and empty when we arrived. We were able to be seated immediately which was nice, the salon was very clean and inviting. Went in for a pedicure to refresh my color (gel), however the nail tech used a tool to remove the nail Polish and kept filing even after the polish was removed. She ended up cutting/ scratching multiple times. When I finally said something she became very rude and short which was not necessary as it was obvious I was bleeding and she knew it was starting to get painful as I eventually tried to pull away to keep the hot tool off my nail. read more

I made an appointment in advance, which seems like is the recommended thing to do, because several people entered during my appointment but they did not have walk-ins available. I had never heard of Gel X manicures so when they offered it and when they were done OMG it was the BEST

I did clear dip with gel color on top and it chipped within the first day. I called and they did let me come in and fix it... but after the "fix" it chipped again within a day. And in the course of "fixing it" they had to file all my nails down to match... which was unfortunate because I had been growing my own nails out for awhile. I've never had a dip manicure chip on me within a day- they usually last me 3 and more likely 4 weeks. It was $55 and I tipped 20% as well... so very expensive for probably the worst manicure I've had. I won't be back. read more

I would stay away from this salon at all costs. Ive been a few times as I live up the street but each time it's gotten worse and worse. The technicians all yell in Vietnamese, which I understand everything, and most of the time they're talking so poorly about each of the clients, myself included. What they tend to do is say some nasty things, then look at the client smile laugh and say irrelevant things to make you think otherwise. Most salons always have technicians talking, but I've never heard gossip about the customers as I did today. Today I asked for a certain color that needed 3 coats as it was rather transparent-- my technician Shayla was so irritated and kept on making comments as to how much of a pain I was... despite asking so politely. She also cut my cuticles so aggressively which caused them to bleed and her reaction was to laugh. Her paint job was so poor (please see photo) that I was so offended I paid for this, and left a generous tip, because she made a comment to her friend that I better tip well. This is probably the worst manicure I've ever had and am not shocked this salon is usually empty. When I came to pay I asked if I can do Apple Pay which she kept yelling at me to Venmo her... which I asked why I couldn't pay with apple pay or with my card (obviously know she's avoiding taxes as I heard this being discussed). The manager came over and eventually let me pay with Apple Pay... but I can't even begin to tell you how uncomfortable and insulting it was... especially because I understood everything going on. Just avoid this place, there are so many nail salons in Corona del Mar and this one should not be one that is operating. read more

She was late and rude and I was told she's always a problem client... late, demanding and difficult. I witnessed it for myself and can tell you firsthand this is a professionally run salon and I'd recommend it to anyone! The only reason the two women who work there were "standing around" and not working on her is those two aren't certified for that particular service.
