We have been coming to Naples for a decade but have never tried Del Mar. We are so glad we did! The restaurant is beautiful and it has a great vibe. It is very large with seating upstairs and downstairs. Make a reservation on OpenTable, because it gets very crowded, even early. We were seated quickly and our server was excellent. She explained the menu and took our cocktail order. We had several questions and she answered them completely. We ordered a couple of appetizers and also got the lobster spaghetti, as well as the grilled seafood. Both were excellent with very large and delicious portions. This place is BEAUTIFUL on the inside. Our server was very attentive and kind. I ordered the scallops and they were solid. I had a bite of the veal chop and would definitely order that next time. Came in for happy hour/early dinner and had one of our favorite meals of the trip! Started off with a round of drinks that were all delicious and then did a round of dips and a flat bread. All were so tasty, and our waiter brought us extra vegetables that were so good. We chose to split three entrees. All were delicious, but the veal chop was our favorite. I love the vibe at Del Mar Naples. Great music and the decor is classic and comfortable. I must say the service was a bit disappointing. The staff at the host desk were less than friendly. No smiles felt unwelcoming. We went upstairs and sat at the small bar. The bartenders did their job and nothing more. We enjoyed a couple of great spreads and delicious cocktails. Unfortunately we didn't have the best night. Or should I say the kitchen didn't have the best night. Service was fantastic but some of the dishes came up short. We started with the salmon crudo, which was very good. Then for dinner, I got the lobster spaghetti and my wife got the whole branzino. The branzino was okay but lacking a bit of flavor. The lobster spaghetti was missing everything. I thought maybe it was just me so I had my wife taste it without saying a word about it and she gave me a look and said "It doesn't taste like anything.". This dish has so many good reviews that I just have to assume someone in the kitchen had a bad night. For the second time in my life, I sent a dish back. The waiter was very understanding and asked me to choose anything else from the menu. I went safe and picked the filet mignon, which is pretty good at almost any place you go. The manager delivered the steak herself and apologized for the lobster dish being less than satisfactory. It also happened to be my wife's birthday so, between that and the issues, it wasn't much of a surprise, though very much appreciated, that they comp'd the dessert, which was an olive oil cake. Holy hell was that delicious! I wish I could say it made up for it but, man, I really wanted that lobster spaghetti to be good. We were visiting Naples but, fortunately for us, there's a Del Mar close to where we live, in Fort Lauderdale. So we'll be giving them another opportunity in the near future and hopefully that spaghetti is all it's said to be. A Great time was had by my wife and I. Attention to detail by the server, Elle, was beyond expectations. Her love of the industry was apparent in her knowledge of ingredients and preparation. Del Mar means "of the sea" in SPANISH. So naturally that set my expectations to seafood in general, and Spain specifically. Spain has a ton of coastline from Barcelona to Bilbao, and amazing seafood the whole way, with famous items like Paella, prawns, calamari, razor clams and branzino. What Spain does not have is tandori lamb, which our waiter informed us is the best thing on the menu. Wife had it and loved it, although there were too many brussels sprouts and not enough apricots. I had red snapper, which theoretically should be fresh, since it is relatively local. The waiter said it was caught in the Gulf, 10 miles out from Naples but that is not true--too shallow there. Probably sourced from the Panhandle area, such as Destin. It tasted like it had been sitting a couple days--ok but definitely not great. Service was OK but our appetizer arrived too fast, just as drinks arrived. Then our dinner arrived when we were only half away through the appetizer. Very poorly paced. The ambiance is nice, contemporary and attractive. Pricing is high--a 9 ounce pour of the cheapest chardonnay was $19!! So idk, maybe these seem like small quibbles, but they annoyed me. If you are going to be this pretentious, go the extra mile and deliver. Either put paella on the menu or change the name of the restaurant. This menu is far more Eastern Mediterrean than Spanish. Istanbul meets Mumbai--name the restaurant accordingly. read more

We go to Del Mar yearly when we stay in Naples. The food, ambiance, location and wait staff are all 5 star. Food; well prepared, diverse and delicious, served the right temperature always, and the actual dishes are beautiful. The Ambiance; first floor has great vibe great energy, 2nd floor beautifully decorated, with great ambiance as well, 2nd floor patio over looks 5th avenue great view and attention to temperature. The Location; 5th avenue off 5th street. the Wait staff; always polite and knowledgeable of what they are serving how it should be served. We did some sightseeing from inside the dry car and as the rain slowed, we found Del Mar, and it looked to be a good place... and it IS a good place... great staff, wonderful food! - - - They offered a special menu that night and we both ordered one of the three-course meals, and we shared. My wife ordered - Cauliflower, swordfish and Turkish chocolate mousse - the cauliflower was so flavorful - puréed pepper, chili oil, other spices - the swordfish marinated olives, pine nuts, confit potatoes, saffron tomato sauce I ordered - Tuna tartare, lobster spaghetti / gluten-free (GF) penne and Turkish chocolate mousse - Tuna tartare with za'atar... a new spice that tasted great... and the tuna was so nice - Lobster gf pasta was 1) GOOD gluten free pasta, 2) with great sauce, AND 3) the lobster pieces were BIG and tasty! The Turkish chocolate mousse, with whipped cream coffee crumbles - WONDERFUL! Ray was our waitress, who also is on a special diet and helped get us information about the pasta and more; she also shared a few stories that make us want to explore the Everglades a bit more on our next trip. A stand out dining experience. It's not often I consider giving a restaurant a 5/5 rating, and in this case there wasn't a hesitation. Starting with the ambiance, Del Mar has multiple seating areas to accommodate a wide variety of dinner vibes. Downstairs is bumping - a great vibe for a group dinner/celebration or if you want to watch the game while eating world class food. The patio is great for people (and car) watching. Upstairs is quieter - albeit still lively near the bar. For an intimate dining experience, ask for a table on the balcony (where we sat). It also provides a great view over 5th ave. The service was impeccable. Plates were cleared and cutlery changed immediately after every course. Our waiter was extremely helpful and pleasant to talk to (cracked some jokes, but not TOO many jokes to make me look less funny in front of my fiancé). The timing of the courses was also spot on. Finally, the food was excellent. The menu was something out of a dream (disclaimer: I'm partial to Mediterranean food). We kept it on the lighter side, opting for two dips (tzatziki and loaded hummus), the mixed greens salad, tuna tartare, and lobster spaghetti. The dips were jaw-droppingly delicious. The hummus was served with a topping of braised lamb, and the topping alone was as good as any lamb I've ever had. The salad was as good as a salad can be (this was ordered by my fiancé, obviously). The tartare had a distinctly Mediterranean olive flavour and was, of course, delicious. The lobster spaghetti was chef's kiss. Finally, we rounded out the evening with a piece of olive oil cake served with fruit. Light, fluffy, delicious. Not pictured: several glasses of the Louis Jadot Chablis and Cambria Pinot Noir. All in all, 5 star experience. Later on, during our flight home, I stared catatonically out the window, on the verge of tears, as the realization set in that the dinner was over. If you're in Naples and haven't been to Del Mar, are you even living? From the moment we walked in with our 12-year-old, it was like they knew. The perfect table, the perfect service--this place is playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers. They made us feel so welcome, and trust me, making kids feel welcome at a nice spot is an art form. Bonus points for the big bar and lively atmosphere that made us feel like grown-ups again. Now the food? Let me tell you, it's a spiritual experience. Huge kudos to Jill, our server, who absolutely crushed it. She walked us through the menu like a culinary tour guide and nailed every recommendation: the snapper, sea bass, tuna tartare, and lamb meatballs. Every bite felt like a mic drop. Finally found an amazing place for Brunch!!! First time dining at Del Mar today but it definitely won't be the last. The space is gorgeous. Love the lounge vibe on the first floor by the bar, the patio is great and the second floor is nice and inviting. The brunch menu is great! From salads and few delicious appetizers to traditional brunch dishes with a Del Mar twist - they've got you covered. We ordered Tuna crudo to start and then followed up with smoked salmon dish and shakahuka with lamb. Everything was phenomenal. We also had their brunch cocktails, the passion fruit spritz and cucumber refresher. Both were crisp and delicious. The service was impeccable as well.
