Del Mar Seaside Grill is an easy recommend if you like Persian/Mediterranean food. Koobideh and fesenjoon are two of my go-to dishes anywhere, and both were excellent here. The koobideh was especially good--very flavorful, moist, and nicely seasoned. The fesenjoon had that rich sweet-tart pomegranate flavor that makes the dish such a favorite, and the portions were generous across the board. We also did a few starters (lavash/olives and baba ghanoush), and everything felt fresh and well put together. Staff was attentive and genuinely helpful from start to finish, and the overall atmosphere in Del Mar was relaxed--especially on the covered patio out front. Came here for a lunch with my coworkers. The inside is cozy and decorated very well. On nice days, they open up the patio and there is a nice breeze. The service was good for a large party. Food came quickly and was fresh. Got the beef lunch special. It was ok, but I think for the price, there are better options in the city. read more

5 of us came for dinner on our recommendation. We had really liked the food here previously at lunch. Well, jump back. Not only was the food delicious -- it hit on every note -- but the portions were huge! All 5 of us loved our dinners, and not a single one of us (2 men and 3 women) was able to eat more than half of the portions served. Also, one member of our party is celiac, and they're we're plenty of gluten free dishes (also prepared carefully to avoid cross contamination) from which she could choose. Next time, we'll share. Good food, reasonable prices, hearty portions, lovely yet casual ambience, indoor and outdoor seating on the Coast Hwy. I'm raising my rating for them. We first discovered Alborz and its Persian cuisine when we moved to San Diego over 25 years ago, and we were disappointed when we learned a few years ago that it wasn't at its former location. But here we are now at Del Mar Seaside Grill by Alborz. We've enjoyed lunches and a dinner here over the last two months. The menus contain Persian, Middle Eastern, Mexican, and seafood dishes. Some of my favorites include: Gyros Plate (5/5) -- Generous serving of excellent gyro meat served with pita. ($28 dinner/$22 lunch) Lamb Shish Kabob (5/5) -- Lamb marinated, skewered and charbroiled (honoring my request for medium rare), served with onion, tomatoes and green peppers. ($39 dinner/$26 lunch) Fesenjon (4/5) -- This is a traditional Persian pomegranate and walnut stew with chicken. ($27 dinner) Shrimp Taco (5/5) -- Large soft taco with mound of tasty grilled shrimp. ($9 lunch) Entrées come with choice of two sides, one of which is rice. For an uplift ($5 lunch, $6 dinner) you can also choose from two Persian favorites: Barbery rice -- Zreshk Polo (4/5) or Cherry Rice -- Albaloo Polo (4/5). Soup of the Day is another side choice. I've had the Lemon Chicken Soup (4/5) as a side -- a cup is $12 on the Main Menu. Service has been good, but not always attentive. They are willing to make some dish changes to accommodate a celiac guest, such as corn chips for the pita with the Hummas (3/5). The ambiance is casual with a bar, outdoor seating in front and behind separated by a small dining room. We've dined on the rear deck and in the dining room. Restrooms are down two flights of stairs. This was our second time at this restaurant. It's nicely decorated and it has a good vibe. A husband and wife run the place and they do a good job. We ordered hummus for appetizer, entree comes with two sides, we ordered chicken shish kebabs with rice and salad shirazi . The hummus was good, salad shirazi was very salty and I didn't eat it ( she didn't ask why I didn't eat it ) the chicken on the shish kebab was very tender but unfortunately I could taste and smell butter on the whole dish. Love it here! After dining here several times, I feel confident saying they are one of the best Persian restaurants in the city hands down. It also has beautiful views of the ocean (they are currently building a patio deck so their customers can sit and enjoy the ocean views). The ambiance is beach chic and the perfect setting for date night, family dinner, or a celebration. Service was top notch. The owner, Marjan, is super sweet and inviting. Our server was friendly and checked in throughout our meal. She was also so kind to take some wonderful pictures of our family for our father in law's birthday. The food is amazing. One of my family's favorite spots in Del Mar. We love their tacos, pita bread and babganoush, and lemon soup. The owners are very nice and serve up fresh food with high quality ingredients. This location had great selection of Mediterranean dishes. We decided to go for Christmas and it was open. The portions are huge for entrees so be mindful if you don't have a large stomach. Seaside Grill is a super generic name, and the menu has Mexican food, seafood, "Mediterranean food" with a great patio, perfect for tourists walking by. But for those of us who live here, we know that this is the new home of Alborz, formerly in Del Mar Heights, home to the best stews in San Diego. And unlike some of the best Persian places in LA, they have vegetarian versions of several stews. I'm addicted to the gheimeh bademjan, vegetarian version, which is eggplant and lentil stew with no meat. They also have a very good eggplant yogurt and mint appetizer called borani. Portions are very large and their rice is delicious. Great place to come for SUPER yummy food and to show solidarity with neighbors. Passing through Del Mar and stopped downtown hungry and wanting an ocean view. We were so happy we took a chance here. The server was accommodating in our ocean view request. Chips and salsa were a welcome start. Ordered ceviche, flavors were delicious and loved the chunks of cucumber, avocado and shrimp. The owners used to own Alborz off of Mango Dr. They took that restaurant and moved it along with some of the old favorite dishes and added new ones. The portions are large and perfect for sharing. I like to get their Gyro plate with the homemade hummus. My kids prefer to order burritos. The California burrito is a favorite for one of my kids. The owners and staff are very friendly. Dogs are welcome on the front patio as well. They raised their prices since they opened so we do not go as frequently, but it remains a favorite of our family. read more

I'm so happy that we discovered Del Mar Seaside Grill. We went because they were recommended via Nextdoor, and people were right about it being a beautiful restaurant run by two wonderful people. Marjan and her husband were so welcoming. The menu has a great variety and we got a little of each (Persian and Mexican so it would be difficult to get bored with it). The fish fajitas were exceptional and the fish was flavorful and luscious. The falafel plate was the best I've had in North County SD. Even the small stuff like chips and tabouleh are super tasty. You get a LOT per entree, and we went home with huge doggie bags because their portions are so generous. There was enough food for the next couple days! I'm on a crusade to give business to smaller, locally owned places, and so far this is the best I've tried. First time at Del Mar Seaside Grill, and I was very satisfied. I love Middle Eastern food and enjoyed trying several items on the menu. We started with olives and lavash (soft, thin flatbread), followed by Baba ghanoush (creamy eggplant dip). We ordered chicken shish kabob and koobideh (minced meat kabob), and Fesenjan (pomegranate meat stew) with rice and Greek salad. Everything tasted great and presumably authentic as it tasted like other Middle Eastern restaurants I have visited. I even ordered some extra koobideh to bring home. Service was good. We were there when it first opened so no issues with service. We sat in the covered patio area at front of restaurant, which was pleasant. The only negative was the parking situation which is limited to a couple spaces behind the restaurant and on Camino Del Mar. Great experience for us two traveling out of towners! The food we picked was served warm, freshly prepared, tasty, quality, great quantity and in a timely manner. Both people who provided us service, seemed to be the couple owners, were super polite, pleasant, and helpful. It exceeded our expectations. This was our first visit to this location which was once was simply called Albourz for many years a few blocks away and next to Hwy 5! We ordered the traditional Kabob koobideh served with white aromatic basmati rice, a side of soup and Khoresteh Badmjune, famous eggplant stew, with rice and side of Shirazi salad. 4 friends met at this restaurant - sat in the patio in the back which was nice - ordered our meals (not cheap) and then we asked for a plate of Sabzi which is a combination of different fresh herbs that are eaten with some Persian meals - this was not listed on a menu but we asked if they had some and they did. Upon asking for the check, we were thoroughly SHOCKED at the price charged which was $20 !! Most restaurants charge between $4-$6 for this - to be sure it was not an error, we asked the lady owner who was very defiantly and blatantly combative and said that this was the price. All 4 of us said that we would never go back to this restaurant due to such service and price gauging. Incidentally, 2 friends ordered the salmon which was very salty and our kabobs were overdone and dry. A couple run and manage the place and they are understaffed for sure - everything seems to be rushed. The restaurant is primarily a family run Iranian/Persian restaurant, but they also have some good tacos/Mexican foods! For me, a combination of Mediterranean and Mexican food is absolutely the best option! This was my first visit here, so we opted for the Persian options and tried the following: Chicken/lentil soup with lemon flavor: it was very yummy! Beef Koobideh Kebabs (beef skewers): The kebabs were so tender, juicy, and flavorful! Eggplant/beef stew: Another very flavorful dish and done right! I think this is one of the best seafood places I have ever been too! Located off Camino Del Mar, near 14th street, this restaurant had a sprawling decor and is an optimal location for an evening out. The fire pits outside make for a nice night time feel as well as the lights. The overall theme is a nice casual. We were greeted immediately upon entry and given the choice to side inside or out. Our outside table was clean and we were shown a menu with a diverse range of Mediterranean foods. I liked the mix of Greek, Persian, and Hispanic foods. I think it works very well here. Our waitress was very friendly and brought us bread with olives and butter. This was a delicious appetizer and very savory. The bread was very tasty. For the main meal we split a two kabobs combo for $32. I think this was a good deal considering we received a large portion of rice as well as a generous amount of salad. The chicken and Koobideh are absolutely phenomenal. The chicken was fresh and had some nice seasoning. The Koonideh was tender and cooked well. It too had a savory taste as well as good seasonings. Our waitress made us feel valued as customers and did not rush us. We paid and then enjoyed the beautiful evening in the outdoor section after the meal. I think if you budget, and select the correct combos, this meal is worth it! I would suggest arriving early or making reservations to prevent a wait.
