We first discovered Alborz and its Persian cuisine when we moved to San Diego over 25 years ago, and we were disappointed when we learned a few years ago that it wasn't at its former location. But here we are now at Del Mar Seaside Grill by Alborz. We've enjoyed lunches and a dinner here over the last two months. The menus contain Persian, Middle Eastern, Mexican, and seafood dishes. Some of my favorites include: Gyros Plate (5/5) -- Generous serving of excellent gyro meat served with pita. ($28 dinner/$22 lunch) Lamb Shish Kabob (5/5) -- Lamb marinated, skewered and charbroiled (honoring my request for medium rare), served with onion, tomatoes and green peppers. ($39 dinner/$26 lunch) Fesenjon (4/5) -- This is a traditional Persian pomegranate and walnut stew with chicken. ($27 dinner) Shrimp Taco (5/5) -- Large soft taco with mound of tasty grilled shrimp. ($9 lunch) Entrées come with choice of two sides, one of which is rice. For an uplift ($5 lunch, $6 dinner) you can also choose from two Persian favorites: Barbery rice -- Zreshk Polo (4/5) or Cherry Rice -- Albaloo Polo (4/5). Soup of the Day is another side choice. I've had the Lemon Chicken Soup (4/5) as a side -- a cup is $12 on the Main Menu. Service has been good, but not always attentive. They are willing to make some dish changes to accommodate a celiac guest, such as corn chips for the pita with the Hummas (3/5). The ambiance is casual with a bar, outdoor seating in front and behind separated by a small dining room. We've dined on the rear deck and in the dining room. Restrooms are down two flights of stairs. Two parking spaces are located there as well. Otherwise, it's street parking in Del Mar.

This was our second time at this restaurant. It's nicely decorated and it has a good vibe. A husband and wife run the place and they do a good job. We ordered hummus for appetizer, entree comes with two sides, we ordered chicken shish kebabs with rice and salad shirazi . The hummus was good, salad shirazi was very salty and I didn't eat it ( she didn't ask why I didn't eat it ) the chicken on the shish kebab was very tender but unfortunately I could taste and smell butter on the whole dish. That was a big turn off. They are understaffed for sure .

We wanted to come again for our last night in Del Mar. i had the fish tacos and rice n beans n salad. i had too much food. My wife had the chicken breast ka bob plate and it was also too much. Next time we will split something. It was such a good dinner and the husband and wife hosts are genuinely hospitable. It's a pleasure to come here. We 'll be back

Love it here! After dining here several times, I feel confident saying they are one of the best Persian restaurants in the city hands down. It also has beautiful views of the ocean (they are currently building a patio deck so their customers can sit and enjoy the ocean views). The ambiance is beach chic and the perfect setting for date night, family dinner, or a celebration. Service was top notch. The owner, Marjan, is super sweet and inviting. Our server was friendly and checked in throughout our meal. She was also so kind to take some wonderful pictures of our family for our father in law's birthday. The food is amazing. First of all, the portions are very generous. We had plenty of leftovers to take home. The food was hot, fresh, tasty, and flavorful. The chicken kebabs are a must! Just thinking about it makes my mouth water :) Everyone enjoyed their meal and left happy and full. Come check it out. You won't be disappointed!

The sunset view from outside patio is amazing. Lovely background music adds to ambiance but guests can converse easily over the sound of it. Very personalized service! So caring and attentive. We loved our food and drinks. The Manhattahans were amazing! Be sure to try the Borani appetizer.

We came here for dinner and sat outside, which was lovely. Our server was friendly and attentive. What we ordered: * Olives: Absolutely loved these! Whatever they used to marinate them was amazing--my favorite item on the menu. * Maust' Moosier: Really good, with dried herbs that gave it a nice twist. * Soltani: Just okay. As a Persian living in Los Angeles, I've had better kabobs--nothing particularly standout here. * Greek Salad: A nice, fresh side to go with the main dish.

The restaurant is cozy. The food is good. The Greek salad is excellent. Great dressing and ingredients. As an appetizer we had Baba Ganoush and Hummus. Both were very good. My kids had the Beef Koobideh, which were solid. I chose the Gheimeh. I thought I would try something different and new. I did not like it. For me it was too lemony and didn't have that much flavor. My adult children tried it, and didn't care for it either. This was the only off.

Fidel's was always the go to main spot, but it would often get too busy and crowded so Tony's Jacal was a solid second option. It's a traditional sit down Mexican restaurant with truly great flavors and quick service. It's quite large on the inside, they have indoor seating and out, and when you sit down you're given a number and then when you are ready to check out and pay, you leave the table and give the cashier your number and then pay at the front. A unique system, but it works. Parking is also extremely easy, there are plenty of free spaces all around the restaurant as there is a large parking lot attached on the side and then back. Everything that we ordered came out very fast and our server was friendly. I started off with a cup of the Albondigas Soup and loved it. It really hit the spot on a cold November night and I would happily order it again. For my entrée, I chose the El Rey combo and selected Carne Asada and Chile Colorado (red). Both were great as expected and the tortillas were fresh and delicious. Every part of the meal was honestly really good and I have zero complaints. Pricing is fair, the menu is huge, and service is fast. It's a great option if you're in the mood for some great Mexican food.

NOT DOG FRIENDLY…read more Came in on a Friday around 1:15 PM. The patio had a few tables already seated and looked nice at first glance. The experience started off a bit off-putting. There's a sign saying no dogs allowed on the patio, which felt odd for an outdoor space. We were told dogs weren't allowed, even though another table had a dog sitting there. Our dogs are registered service animals, and when that came up, the interaction felt tense rather than straightforward. We ultimately said we'd take our business elsewhere, especially since there are other restaurants very close by. After that, the situation shifted. One of the staff members ended up seating us, and our server was genuinely great. She was kind, attentive, and easily the best part of the service experience. Another staff member did seem a bit uncomfortable or standoffish when bringing waters, but things improved once our server took over. Food-wise, I ordered the turkey taco and enchilada combo with rice and beans. They're known for turkey dishes, but it didn't really stand out to me. The turkey was on the dry side. The beef enchilada was better and pretty standard for Tex-Mex. The salsa had a solid heat to it, which I didn't care for. They don't serve queso, which was surprising. I also tried the guacamole, but it tasted more processed than fresh, so I wouldn't order that again. We also tried one of their popular margaritas, which our server recommended. It was fine, nothing memorable, but not bad either. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. At checkout, the same staff member who initially handled the dog situation was much friendlier and even gave us a chocolate on the house, which was a nice gesture and appreciated. Overall, the patio is cute and the service from our server was excellent. That said, the initial welcome and inconsistent handling of the patio policy left a bad first impression. Food was average. I don't see myself coming back though.

It' is a charming little taco shop tucked away in a small mini mall at 524 Stevens Avenue in Solana Beach. I ordered a pollo asado burrito, and the chicken was incredibly tender and juicy. Also, the service was impressively quick as my burrito was ready within five minutes of ordering. The ambiance was enhanced by cheerful, happy Mexican music playing softly in the background.
