Food: Salad (looked like a Caesar salad but there were orange segments) did not like this at all. Way overdressed drenched in dressing. The crispy prosciutto was the best part. Octopus was nice & tender but lack luster. Needed salt. Chicken wings were soggy not crispy at all, flavor on the outside is great but the chicken wing meat on the inside is beyond bland. The restaurant itself was lovely. Clean, minimalist and in a random location. But who cares. Plenty of parking. They give you fingertips towelettes with your silverware. Excellent touch. And 10 star service. I loved it. They were so attentive but not annoyingly so. All these reasons are why they got 4 stars. Ooh one more reason. The harissa aioli and the fries are amazing. That sauce is killer. Spicy yet flavorful and went PERFECTLY with the fries. Okay let's talk about the wings. And I know nobody is reading these reviews except for other readers. But BM, please read. TLDR One of the strangest places in the best way. Delicious modern takes on pan- Mediterranean cuisine served in a beautiful, spacious yet intimate, dining area. But it's in th middle of a residential/industrial area off the Kearny Mesa area. Don't let the location fool you, this is some must have eats, especially the chicken wings Boujie mana looks the part. A modern spacious design with few tables serves modern takes on Mediterranean cuisine. Service is attentive and well versed in the menu. The prices are a premium scale, portions very from small to large (pretty variable depending on the dish). Ambience 7/10. Service 8/10. Price 6/10 Iced tea service Pretty good quality loose leaf tea served in classy glassy's. Tea is served with honey, single package sweeteners, and lemon. You probably get 3-5 glasses out of the pitcher. We ordered ginger peach and spicy ginger and a light floral white peach can both be tasted. $15 is steep though. $10 would get me more excited. 6/10 Deviled eggs Smoked eggs, crispy prosciutto, salsa verde, and pickled jalapeño. This is one step away from being a great dish to me but the idea is very enticing. The salsa verde is european style, more like a chimichuri of aromatics chopped and tossed in oil and citrus. The crispy prosciutto is accented by smoke, bringing notes of bacon. But the dish lacks a punch of brightness to me, the pickled jalapeño isn't quite enough to cut through. I may be critical but this is $10 for 2 eggs ultimately (4 halves). 6/10 Taboulleh This one is classically prepared and unapologetic. Distinct mint, parsley, acid, olive oil, and salt. Delicious. 7/10 Fries Fluffy with a nice snap, but wouldn't say crispy. That's the way I like them. The harissa sauce is a spiced mayo and is a great vehicle. Truffle oil is probably a bad idea, got in the way of the harissa. Pretty good but also very standard 6/10 Falafel Ok this one I need to put a caveat. We were charged $15 but I'm pretty sure we were given the sandwich item not the appetizer. It came in a pita and had fries. It is delicious and a generous portion but normally the sandwich portion is $20 it seems. The falafel are perfectly made: no grease makes into the interior, chic pea is clear, herbaceous, and full of spice. Pickles served on top are bright and sweet. A delicious sandwich. 8/10 Crispy chicken wings Absolutely delicious! To the best of my tasting, there's at least zaatar and harissa that cost the wings wonderfully. These bad boys are crispy and juicy too. They sit on top of a thick and creamy labneh that is tart and balanced as a perfect complement to the heavier wings. I'd come back for these 9.5/10 Roasted octopus. Nicely composed dish with a creamy sauce base (I think sesame based) pistachio rich salsa verde, and charred octopus. It's cooked well, with some bits charred to crisp and others left nice and succulent. But nothing burnt and nothing chewy. Very well made but just a touch salty. 8/10 Boujie prosciutto salad Tasty salad that reminds me of Caesar salad. Nice two shot of savory flavors between salty prosciutto and briny anchovies. Citrus is a nice counterpoint to these heavier flavors. 7/10 Definitely a good place for a nice lunch and I'd be curious to try what they have for dinner, especially spying their dry aging set up. Also curious to see what they do behind the bar. But expect to pay for what you're getting! read more

Unassuming yet modern and stylish spot, tucked away within industrial business larks and a giant apartment complex. Our service Hannah was very friendly and helpful with drink recommendations. The cocktails sounded nice but I opted for wine. I wish they had more of a selection available for glasses of wine, but the wines I tried were good. The food was phenomenal. Hummus and pita - the pura was fresh and airy, hummus had a chili oil on it which was a fun twist. Citrus salad was one of my favorites - the grapefruit was sweet and a lovely refreshing balance with the greens and garnish. Stuffed sole was tasty as well, fish had nice flavor and the stuffing was not too overpowering. The pesto and potato pizza was a standout - wasn't entirely sure what it was when we ordered it, but the crust was crispy, bottom nicely charred, and the pesto was so fresh and delicious. BoujieMana was a great place to have our group dinner because I wanted to go to a place that none of us had been to, was nice, had parking, and great food reviews and it met the mark. We had a little celebration dinner here and were in the private room. Service was tentative and great. We order a variety of appetizers for the table and everything was really good. From the wings, to hummus, to the pizza, fries, and even salad. I was a little worried about parking when arriving even though I read about plentiful parking because it seemed like an event was going on but we were all able to find a spot despite it being a bit busy. Came here for valentine's day and very glad we did! The server Ashlyn was very nice and knew her dishes, because she too loves eating at this restaurant which is always a good sign. We first started with the smoked salmon & pita, which has solid quality dough for the pita. We next devoured the lemon ricotta pancakes which had oranges on top which added a nice tangy flavor to accent the sweetness behind the pancake base. The harissa benedict I had bigger hopes for. It was definitely yummy and something I would get again but I think I expected more harissa then I thought. I also was expecting the benedict to be with an english muffin instead of a slice of bread. However, I experienced the best crispy small baked/fried potatoes I've ever had in my life! I would literally come back here just for those potatoes. There was a solid crunch to them that was so satisfying you couldn't just eat half of it. I ate those potatoes whole! The restaurant owner was nice enough to provide everyone dining in a complimentary free custard dessert and a chocolate fountain to cover the strawberries for Valentine's day. This place is a "hidden" spot. They have an amazing duck. I mean amazing. It's peking style and it might possibly be the best peking duck I've ever had. Just look at my pics. When you order it, either the head chef or the owner comes out with it to talk about it (again, look at my pic!). WARNING, this duck takes 1hr to cook and prepare! After I ordered it, about 45m later the head chef came out to talk about it. Then he said he was going back to the kitchen to let it rest another 10-15m before serving it to me. Absolutely the correct answer. I actually shared some with a couple that was next to me (I was at the bar) and the husband said he really loved duck, which was why I shared some with him. He loved it so much, he asked me for a 2nd piece! Haha! After about halfway through the duck, the bartender comes up to me and asks if I want some pita bread with it. I was intrigued and said yes. He then came out with some pita bread that had just been baked (it was still warm and puffy!) and they duck even got better! The bartender told me that the peking duck is really rich and after so many bites it's a good idea to balance it with something else like that pita bread. So correct. I honestly was so amazed at the attention to detail this place exhibits. I also had their smoked deviled eggs which were awesome. Never had smoked deviled eggs and it's really on a whole other level. Even without the smoking those eggs would have been awesome. Ever since I went, I've tried twice already to bring my family down but when I call to make reservations and I ask for the duck, it's always sold out! BoujieMana is a hidden upscale spot in Kearny Mesa that is just gorgeous, from the gold accents and marble throughout to the decorative walls and even the bathrooms have that WOW factor! The food was also delicious, our favorites were the Smoked Deviled Eggs and Pepperoni Pizza with the perfect balance of crunch and softness for the crust. We also had the Spicy Chicken sandwich and kids cheese pizza that were okay, but didn't blow our mind. BOUJIEMANA is super kid friendly (and dog friendly on their patio)! The literal definition of hidden gem at the end of a court in a medical center and business park, I would never have known about it if not for knowing someone that works in the adjacent building. By far the best modern dining experiences I've had in the US. This is the kind of place that raises the bar across the board, I'll be back tomorrow with the rest of the family for my birthday and honestly, if it were up to me, Mother's Day too. We went deep into the menu and they truly get everything right. The hummus was silky, rich, and perfectly seasoned, paired with incredible bread that came out warm with that ideal soft interior and light chew. The tabbouleh was one of the freshest versions we've had, herb-forward, bright, and incredibly clean, the kind of dish you keep going back to between bites of everything else. The Caesar was a big win, fresh gem lettuce with an anchovy-forward dressing that really delivers. The pizza bianco was a standout, perfectly blistered crust with that ideal chew, rich without being heavy with a hint of lemon on top that made it feel so unique. The saffron chicken was beautifully spiced and incredibly tender. The ribeye, which our daughter completely inhaled, was deeply flavorful and perfectly cooked. The tuna tartare was pristine, fresh, and balanced in a way that really let the quality shine. Dessert sealed it. I'm not usually a donut person, but the donut holes were genuinely heavenly, warm, light, and addictive without being overly sweet, with that delicious custard that takes it over the top. We paired it with the chocolate boudino which was rich, silky, and the perfect finish to the meal. Met their amazing chef who previously worked at Michael Mina. A big shout out to Edgar Fernandez, the general manager, who checked in and made sure everything felt seamless. Esteban introduced us to some incredible cocktails, thoughtful, balanced, and genuinely exciting. Tj was amazing, warm, attentive, and added to the overall energy of the night. And a special thank you to Garrett, who walked us through the brunch menu for our next visit, made thoughtful recommendations, answered all of my questions with patience, and packed everything up beautifully. And then there's the hospitality. They treated Buddy like part of the family, bringing out treats for him and even sending us home with a gift for him. That level of care is rare. We were able to reserve a private room which worked out great because we had a lot of bags of gifts to exchange. The menu was simple as far as choices. We ordered a round of pita with hummus this was very delicious. Pita was warm and the hummus yummy. The server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered recommendations and if he didn't know about a particular item he went to find out. I ordered the roasted octopus as my entrée. Very delicious very well-made. I also ordered the chef seasonal toast. Not quite what I expected. It's the chef whim on top of sourdough toast. My hubby and I loved how clean and dark BoujieMana was. The chairs are sleek yet comfy, decor was tasteful, odd there was no music playing so you heard everything, and the service and food was great. The best dish of the night was the hummus with pita and pickled vegetables. The hummus was super smooth, pita was fresh and piping hot, and the pickled vegetables on the side were a nice palette cleanser. The roasted root vegetables were my second favorite followed by the dessert. I wouldn't recommend the kousa, which came highly suggested by the server. I wasn't a fan of the texture, thought it lacked seasoning, and didn't like that it wasn't hot since I was eating ground lamb. I'm glad we tried it but wouldn't get it again. The pizza was a last minute decision and I was too full to try even a bite but my husband liked it. Dessert was phenomenal and the crème anglaise was out of this world. I almost never write Yelp reviews. Like ever. It takes something either completely terrible or something so ridiculously good that I feel obligated to say something. This was the latter. We went to Boujemana as a family. Me, my wife, our two kids. And I'm still thinking about it. We started with the falafels. Five pieces, gluten free, vegan. Crispy chickpea fritters with tahini and herbs. I don't know what kind of sorcery is happening back there but these were unreal. Perfect crunch on the outside, soft inside, and that balance of earthy and tart just hits. Then came the tuna tartare. Creme fraiche, tiger's milk, chive, and somehow paired with G.H. Mumm Brut Champagne (I took a pic of the menu to know wtf I ate, because I would never have known otherwise!). I have never had tartare like this. It just melts. Clean, bright, balanced. It felt like something you'd get at a top spot in Europe. I would know, from there originally, and still travel back. Mediterranean branzino next. Ladolemono, gremolata, fresh herbs. This fish was butter. Not "like butter." Actual butter energy. Soft, flaky, perfectly seasoned, with just the right citrus lift. And that citrus lift is what made it just "pop". Then the saffron chicken. Butter braised cannellini beans, white wine sage velouté, cured egg. This dish is insane. The beans and the chicken together should not work this well but they absolutely do. Rich, comforting, layered. We also ordered a simple Ezzo pepperoni pizza for the kids just in case. Joke's on us. The kids crushed everything else and the pizza, which was actually really good, went home in a box. Roasted artichokes with saffron, pine nuts, braised fennel. Another sleeper hit. It hit so many notes. Hard to explain them all. And I cannot believe I almost forgot the labneh raita. Labneh with cucumber, mint, shallot. Very Persian vibes. Bright, refreshing, perfect start. We ended with donuts creme anglaise. Because of course we did. We like to end these events with sweetness -- and wow! Drinks were on another level too. Sazerquack and Butterfly Effect. Even the ice cube felt intentional. See pics. Seriously good! Now here's the part that pushed this over the top. The details. Hand towels with their signature scent. Every wall in the restaurant has its own personality but somehow it all works together. They grow their own herbs in a greenhouse attached to the building. You can taste that level of care in everything. Service was Four Seasons level. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Shoutout to Hannah for taking care of us, Chad and Edgar for stopping by, and Chef Sebastian for running what can only be described as a masterpiece of a kitchen. And the biggest thing for me. Our kids are 8 and 6. They felt completely welcome. Not tolerated. Welcomed. They were raving the whole ride home. My daughter is now obsessed with the branzino. My son is team saffron chicken. There is something here for everyone. Carnivores, vegetarians, pescatarians, vegans. Doesn't matter. You will find something that blows your mind. I've eaten at Michelin spots across Europe. Stopped by BoujieMana for Tuesday happy hour and it did not disappoint. Plenty of parking, quick seating. We tried the lamb areyes, octopus, and crispy jidori wings. Everything was on point. The octopus was cooked perfectly. There was a small mix-up though because I asked if the lamb was lollipops and the server said yes, but it turned out to be more like a quesadilla. Still super tasty, just not what I expected & I did not want the extra carbs.I had the Dealer's Choice whiskey cocktail and it was really well balanced and easy to sip. This place is off the beaten path and is located behind a few apartments near a small park on aero drive. We've been here a few different times and have tried their happy hour and dinner menu. As of this writing, their happy hour M-Th 2-5pm only. There is plenty of parking and plenty of indoor seating with a small private room that you can reserve. The decor is very modern and boujie and the bathroom is next level fancy with heated toilets. The staff is very friendly and professional. Our servers have always been polite, meticulous, and helpful. Food usually comes out in a reasonable amount of time, but can take longer if they're busy. They are known for their pita and their pizza because they also use the same dough to make their pizza. The dough is crispy, light, and airy with a nice chewy texture. The cheeseburger was just ok. The middle of my burger was medium but the outside was burnt and little bitter. Would not recommend this item. The octopus is amazing! Crispy tentacles and firm meaty texture. Unexpected upscale restaurant in the most unlikely of places! Beautifully decorated, high ceilings, dark wood, gorgeous chandaliers...definitely fitting to have the name BoujieMana. So the co-habby discovered this gem with his co-workers and had gone there for lunch. He liked it so much, he brought me back there for happy hour and it did not disappoint. The warm hand towels were a nice touch and added to the luxe experience of dining there. Note: upon entering they will ask you if you have reservations even if at the moment, it doesn't look full inside the restaurant. Standard practice and not a big deal but a couple did seem a bit perturbed that came in after us when they were asked the same thing. But I digress. The burger was juicy and delish. It came with a side of fries and a dipping sauce. We also tried the chicken wings which I actually enjoyed more than the burger if I'm being honest...I would come back just for those wings. I wish yelp had half stars because this more of a 3.5. We had a great time trying this place out. However nothing stood out to us. We were a family of three, they do cater to the littles and offer high chairs. We tried the following: Bougie Cheeseburger Roasted octopus Sweet corn soup Chicken tenders and fries (for the broke unemployed bestie lol) The burger was good, however, for my palette, i found the burger to be a bit salty. My spouse enjoyed it. Roasted octopus: i loved the pistachios and they roasted the octopus nicely. It wasnt chewy. Sweet corn soup: im bias with corn. I love corn. And i really enjoyed this soup. It was good enough to share. I wish they served some bread with it on the side. The kids meal was a big portion. I was surprised at how big the portion was. service was great. The ambiance was nice. We had a reservation and this is recommended. Parking is free and plenty of spots. I didnt check out the bathroom but wish i did. They do have private rooms if you have a large party. Plenty of parking and a decent sized restaurant. We came on a busy day so the service wasn't the best- I guess they usually don't have that many people for Tuesday nights. Came here specifically for the roasted duck and was not disappointed!! Out of all the dishes we ordered, my friends and I liked the duck the most. The skin was crispy and the meat was flavorful. It wasn't dry or too salty either. The pizza was okay, I would prefer if it was crispier. The hummus was good, you can't go wrong with that. And the octopus was also okay! I was comparing it to Cesarina's octopus and liked Cesarina's more as it was sweeter in flavor profiles, while this one was more tart with the tomatoes.
