I'm not sure if their baba ganoush has mayonnaise or my salmon wrap came with mayonnaise instead of baba ganoush, but it ruined the experience for me and now I feel queasy because I don't eat mayonnaise, especially not on Mediterranean food. To their credit they did honor my request for no onions. The lettuce was yellow and wilted and the red cabbage was just plain and not the good Lebanese style. After six weeks in California eating only Asian food, I was craving something Arabic before flying home to CDMX tomorrow , but sadly this did not hit the spot. They make you feel great just stepping in there with the friendly staff. I always get the artichoke, wonderful, steamed with a sauce that complements well. The kabobs are fresh and made to order that are perfectly marinated. Highly recommend the beef/lamb combo. Call ahead if you want it faster! Recommended to me by a friend and I was so disappointed. I ordered lamb with rice and a salad. The cucumber salad was great, but that was the only part of the meal that was good. I was supposed to get bread with a meal and it was left out. The platter comes with a skewer of chicken and a skewer of beef, both grilled over mesquite charcoal, giving them an amazing smoky flavor. The meat was juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. Everything is served over a bed of herbed rice, which was aromatic and paired perfectly with the grilled meats. On the side, there's a chopped tomato and cucumber salad dressed in lemon juice--super refreshing--and a grilled tomato that added a nice, slightly charred sweetness to the plate. I grabbed lunch today at Marketplace Grille, which was super convenient as my husband was having surgery at the hospital right across the street. I was looking for something close and healthy, and this spot popped up with lots of rave reviews, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I ordered the Greek Salad with added chicken and a side of falafels. My jaw dropped a little when the bill came out to $30, but I was hungry and needed to eat. When the food arrived, it was beautifully presented and looked really appetizing. The salad itself was good and large--crisp with fresh tomatoes and red onions and sprinkled Feta Cheese. The dressing was very fresh and herbal. The grilled chicken was flavorful, though just a tad on the dry side. The falafels were a highlight: perfectly crispy on the outside and moist inside, served with a delicious Tahini sauce. Overall, I enjoyed the meal, but honestly, $30 for a salad and falafel, no matter how good, feels a bit high. The food was definitely good, but not "great" enough to justify that price point for a quick lunch. This place has been around for ever. Their food tastes healthy and it's great for pickup/takeout. I love their gyro plate. Seems like the prices were a little high, but the food was excellent. I ordered a beef wrap. It had really good flavor. The sauce made it really moist and there was meat in every bite throughout the wrap, not just 2/3rds like most wraps. I also ordered the Hummus with the low carb option of carrots and cucumbers instead of pita. That was an excellent choice for me (trying to minimize carbs, but can't totally eliminate them yet). There were plenty of options, we discussed and picked this place. I have to admit, I was very glad we did. We walked in and was greeted by a sweet young lady name Jackie. She was extremely friendly and helpful giving many suggestions on food options. She recommended the salmon with the spicy seasoning. I took her recommendation and ordered the salmon plate with herbal rice. Since I got two skewers with the plate, I asked for lamb. She added the spicy seasoning to the lamb for me which was a very good idea. The food was amazing. I don't know how else to describe it. Fresh, hot, and cooked to perfection. The rice was tasty, the cucumber & tomato salad was amazing as well as the roasted tomato on the side. It was the perfect post ride lunch. I definitely recommend going here!! Nor is it as good as some other similar style places in the areas. Here is what I noticed: - I ordered the combo special with Wahoo and Shrimp. The wahoo was overcooked for sure. - I picked the Basmati Herb Rice, which was again ok...nothing to write home about. The sides that came with the dish (grilled tomatoes and cucumber salad) were not bad. - At $23.20, it seemed a bit overpriced for the quality...although the portion size was massive, so you definitely get a lot (of volume) for your money. And, you get a fountain drink (which I didn't really want/need). Bottom line: OK, but not a place I'll be returning to anytime soon. read more

This restaurant, is unquestionably, one of my favorite places to eat in San Diego. I've been to this location and the one on Mira Mesa. Their special oven puts a smoke on food that is incredible. The food is Persian/Mediterranean and I've frequented this place for over seven years. Family run with a few locations and they cater too. (wife/co-owner/proprietor is Swedish and she is incredible to work with). I've never had a disappointing meal. Ever. Here are my favorites- 1. Tony's special with either chicken or salmon. Protein (I get chicken or salmon), on a bed of salad with roasted veggies. I usually get a side of hummus with this. Makes me hungry writing about it! 2. Crispy bowl- comes with a fantastic tomato/cucumber salad, herbed rice (so good) and a side of baba ganoush (eggplant dip that's Smokey). 3. Regular bowl- herbed rice and perfectly made tabouleh (parsley, onion, tomato,lemon) 4. Baba ganoush! The best! It's smoked and to die for. 5. Hummus- it's homemade and fantastic. 6. Chicken kabob- that oven again.... Cooks it perfectly 7. Salmon! I don't know what they do, but it's some of the best salmon I've ever had. Seasoned just right and cooked perfectly (in that oven) and never over cooked or dry. Only get the salmon if you dine-in. If you take it to go it'll keep cooking and dry out. 8. Roasted tomatoes- get extra. Unmatched. Smokey flavor with just enough browning on it. I love the food so much here I get extra and take it home. I've had the good fortune to travel and have incredible food around the world and this is a top place for me. Healthy food but also comfort food. Friendly staff. Food done well. One of my top recommendations for the San Diego area. The Carmel Valley location has a little nicer dine-in area than the Mira Mesa location fyi. read more

It's impossible to walk by if you're hungry, what with the charcoal grill smoke wafting out and extensive menu. It's been consistently excellent for years. The plates are generous.. a kabob, rice, and salad is a dinner-size portion. The Babaghanoush is fresh and smooth.. even the small size is enough to share with a friend. The Wraps are legit, in the lavash bread, with the pickle and sauce. There's a lot going on in there. There's no "lunch" menu, but the wrap is where it's at. Baklava, of course. The fridge case has a selection of cold drinks, including Mexican Coke and a few beers. Nice outdoor seating, easy parking, super friendly and helpful. Lucky to have this place nearby. read more

I'm not a picky eater. But I've eaten here twice now and both times it was beyond mediocre. The singularly worst food I've ever partially eaten. You have to pay extra for the herb rice which is just a nasty bowl of parsley and microwaved rice from 3 days ago. The bread was also ancient and wrapped up in paper and dryer than the Sahara. The beef and lamb were not fresh and also seemed microwaved. To top it off they served the absolute worst, cold sweaty fries that I couldn't even resurrect with my air fryer. I like there is more lentils than barley. Salmon skewers: nice flame flavor on the outside, and not too dry in the interior. Getting it bowl style is nice on top of Shirazi salad. Spinach salad was ok - not impressed by the giant colorless supermarket tomatoes, at these prices if I were getting a salad at Bushfire or elsewhere I would be having much more lifelike tomatoes. Feta was fine, dressing was sweet but good. Salmon has a good flavor, but I'm getting tired of getting farmed salmon at prices that are not cheap. Pita that came with the baba ghanoush was also nothing special. BUT the baba ghanoush was pretty good, so I am rounding up to 4 stars instead of down to 3. We live really close to this place but had never tried it. We got the chicken bowl and the ground sirloin entree. My husband really liked the entree but I didn't really enjoy my chicken bowl. The chicken was a little dry and they gave me so much parsley. Everything else was drowned in parsley.. So if you're not a parsley person, make sure you say parsley on the side or less parsley.
