I came in to get a pair of Warby Parker sunglasses adjusted and asked if they'd fix another couple of pairs that were not theirs. Rocky accepted all three without a murmur and did a bang-up job. Carly, meanwhile, helped me figure out options for a new pair while I waited and was delightful and helpful without being at all pushy. Small location located on Abbott Kinney. We were greeted once inside the store but other than that, no one really took the initiative to come and ask if we needed help. Maybe they're used to people coming in to casually browse without needing much help, but we were actually looking to get an exam and purchase a pair of glasses. This is a smaller WP than what I'm used to. We were there to look for readers for my hubby and there were lots of nice options. Unfortunately this store did not offer vision exams so we weren't able to do much. Looks like we'll be visiting the location at Marina Del Rey. read more

My friends and family rave about Warby Parker. I've been struggling to find glasses that fit my face properly so I was told to go to Warby Parker and they could help me out. Well that was not the case. When I first stepped through the door I was kindly greeted by the man at the front. I told him I needed help finding glasses for my face and instead of helping me he pointed towards the glasses and said "We have three sizes, you can try them on over there" So then I preceded to try on a dozen pairs while he stood by the front of the store doing nothing lol. I have bought over 20 pairs of glasses from Warby Parker over the years. I've never spared any expense when I comes to getting what I want. However, I have a pair of glasses now that are tarnished and the finishes coming off (they are less than two years old) The manager of the store Said that that is normal wear and tear. If you're looking for glasses with a metal finish, do not buy them from Warby Parker. It seems like they are very cheaply made to say the least if they cannot hold their finish. I happen to be very easy on my glasses, it just so happens. I've had another similar incident at the same store a while back with another pair with defects which, I later remedied with the corporate office. I am hoping it's just this location and lack of customer service that comes with it there. Each time it was addressed by the manager. Let me just start by saying great customer service and very friendly staff. These guys are great and I love what they are doing. They are offering really high end quality glasses for the price of average glasses which generally look, feel cheap and are cheap to say the least. I was looking for a pair of progressive glasses and I generally do not look for discount places and only buy high quality brand names like Oliver Peoples and other such glasses which starts from the 400 dollar range and go ups from there. The glasses quality here is just as good if not better and they have a wide range of designs from more conservative to very hip and cool new glasses to fit most peoples needs. I go Abbott Kinney quiet often but for some reason I had never noticed the store there. On my last trip there to pick up a hoes form the On store next door I decided to walk in as I was in the market for a new pair of progressive glasses. When I walked in I noticed a lot of cool glasses and I thought to my self they must pricy as they seem to be high quality and well made. To my surprise they were like 100 for a pair. I was there with my wife so we started looking and walked out with 3 pairs 15 minutes later. The customer service is excellent. They are very attentive and carrying. They answer your questions and are very patient. They do not rush you and for sure DO NOT try to sell you anything. I decided to take one of the pairs to Costco and get the progressive there since it was significantly less. I had heard about the 2 types of progressive lens and I thought that Costco would probably offer the best. To my surprise when I picked up my glasses I was very disappointed with the lens and I could not get used to it so I took it back and got a refund from Costco and decided to Go back to the store and get fitted for their precision Progressives which costs 400-450. I discovered they just opened a location in Marina and since it is closer to my home I went there to get it done. I walked in with my 5 year old son. The staff and the Optician were extremely welcoming and friendly they entertained my son and made him feel comfortable above and beyond, which was great. After I explained my situation to them the Optician was very understanding and started me on my measuring me for the new progressive glasses. After I was about to walk out he returned the pair of glasses I had take to Costco and now was missing the lens back to me and said you may keep this I will provide you with a new one. I'm all about practicality and putting in the minimal effort when it comes to things like finding new glasses so I feel like Warby Parker was made just for me. I had browsed online before coming in but thought it would be easier to drive over to Venice and choose a frame that day rather than having different frames shipped to my apartment for the Home Try-On deal. Everyone working here was so accommodating and helpful, making the entire process easy for me. They weren't overbearing and allowed me to look around and do my thing while I was trying glasses on, but then they were quick and efficient to complete the sale once I had made my decision. I had my prescription from my eye doctor and they input that information, had me pay my $95 TOTAL (for the frames and lenses and everything), then I received my glasses in the mail just a few weeks later. Easy enough and I love them to this day! I would 100% recommend Warby Parker to literally anyone who needs glasses. read more

Went to WP the first time to the showroom at the Standard Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. I liked the idea and was super excited when they opened the store in Venice. Until I went there a few weeks ago. 2 people (girl & guy) with the WP shirt greeted me nicely- that was were the niceness ended. Absolutely no help in terms of what works for my face. So I found some frames on my own and decided to just write down the style names and to do the at-home try out. The salespeople weren't busy, they just had a nice chat with each other the entire time I was there. When I dared to ask the female sales clerk about a navy blue model that I had seen at the Standard she said they never had navy blue frames.... I asked if she could please check in her computer. The computer is behind the Reference Desk. Of course she could not find the pair I was asking about and told me to check online myself. When I asked if I could look at her computer screen she said harsh " You can't come back here"... I went back home slightly agitated that I drove to Venice and paid 12 dollar for 1 hour parking for that experience and no new glasses on top of it. So I went online for the at-home try out that I think is a clever idea....IF they have the frames you want to try in the program for the at home try out... I chose 5 frames, only 2 could be sent to me, because the other ones were either out of stock or not available for the home try out. I chatted with one of their reps online and was told that the navy frames that according to the Venice girl didn't exist could be ordered per phone. They had been discontinued- maybe sales girl should be told....so she can give accurate info to the customers. I ordered the pair, it arrived very quick. They didn't fit right, but LensCrafters fixed them for free, since I did not want to drive back to Venice and encounter the "friendly knowledgeable" sales staff once again. To sum it up, WP has cute frames and the concept is good, but this review is for the Venice store and if possible it would get no star at all from me. read more

Really? They wouldn't replace my subscription sunglasses that has the coating peeling off just a couple months after the warranty date. They claimed it must have been caused by the way i handle them but theres no way. This kind of damage is clearly not cased by me scratching or mishandling them because the pattern of peeling is even across the lenses and consistent around all the perimeters. Its obvious that the coating is faulty. I havent handled them any differently than other numerous glasses ive owned that never peeled. I actually treat my glasses very well. This is the second pair of warbys that ive had a coating problem with- i guess i was lucky enough that the other issue cropped up within the warranty period and they replaced it. This one cropped up after and i guess you should expect a warby coating to last only about a year or 18 months before you have to spend another $400 to replace them. ridiculous. read more

Ok - I get it. Warby Parker is hip. They disrupted an entire industry and added some always-needed cool-factor to eyeglasses. They're taught in business schools and their in-store experience is phenomenal. But I think they need to start upping their game in terms of manufacturing quality. When I got my first pair about 2 years ago, I was super excited to join the club, to get their cute box in the mail, and not to have to pay an arm and a leg for it. Unfortunately, after having to come in 3 times to adjust the frame only to have it continue to slip off my head, I gave up. A year after that, I tried a second time with a different design. This time, I had to come back twice for adjustments and after about a month, the WP logo fell off the temple arm, so all you see is a dot of dried up glue. Come on, guys. You can do better. I still wore the glasses because I didn't feel like continuing to make trips to the store (they were unfortunately stolen with my purse, otherwise I would have returned them too). I think like every company that gets big quickly, WP is looking for ways to keep the same value proposition while maintaining profits and as always, quality is the first thing to go. And nothing against China, but with a brand with so much cool American ethos tied to it, why on earth wouldn't you manufacture in the US??? Love the style and selection WP has got goin' on! I used their Home-Try-On, which was effortless and exciting! Receiving and returning the glasses was incredibly easy and streamlined; and getting to actually try on frames from the comfort of home was fun. But I visited the retail store with a friend to order so that she could try on frames there (she hadn't used the Home-Try-On and didn't know which would be good to order). Pricing is flat and includes lenses w/ anti-glare and anti-scratch. Compared to other optometrists' pricing, this was extremely affordable. From what I saw, both glasses and sunglasses were either $95 or $145 mostly (extra options cost more, obviously). Ordering was also an easy process-- I forgot my prescription and they just let me fax it in to their manufacturing store! The Sales Associate helps with measuring your pupillary distance and adjusting the frame if needed. Then, click click click on the iPad, swipe the card, and you're good to go! I'm sad to say the customer service has gone down hill, at least for some customers. My partner and I have been buying Warby Parker glasses and sunglasses for the past several years. He even started taking his mom last year. We've always appreciated the mission, price point and styles. Although we live in LA, we've been using the "try/buy from home" the last few years because of the pandemic. So we were excited to head in-person to the Abbot Kinney location today since I need new sunglasses and regular glasses. While there were several employees in the space when we walked in, nobody greeted us. Not a huge deal, as there was one other customer already in there. But then I continued to be ignored while I tried on several pairs of glasses -- nobody asked how I was doing or if I needed any help, which is a stark departure from what I've experienced in the past in this location. The weird part was that as some other customers came in, they were greeted and helped, so perhaps the staff just didn't like the look of us. We finally ended up leaving without purchasing because it was such bad vibes. I'm a bit sad because I don't know of similar companies that have the same quality for price but I left with a pit in my stomach and not really feeling like I want to keep buying from them after this. You can try your luck, as you might be a customer they want to help, but I'd caution that this may not be the case for everyone. read more

I had a wonderful experience while receiving staff support at Warby Parker. After recently purchasing non-prescription sunglasses online, I noticed that the glasses seemed a bit uneven. Additionally, one of the hinges that hold up the temple part of the glasses seemed very tight. I walked into the store on a Sunday around 4PM; there weren't as many people as usual in the store. A store associate assisted me immediately and I explained the situation with my glasses. After tinkering with the glasses for less than a few minutes and after multiple times trying them on and re-configuring them, my issues were solved in less than 5 minutes. Once the pair I decided on arrived, I tried them on and they were too loose, so I headed to this Warby Parker location in Venice to have them adjusted. There was a really nice salesperson there named Nick who spent a lot of time making sure they were perfectly adjusted before I left. He also fixed another pair of my sunglasses for me, which I very much appreciated. I'll start by saying my experience with WB staff has nothing to do with this review. This is strictly about the product. My glasses are officially 1 yrs old. In a single year I've had to replace the lenses THREE times. I've never experienced this with glasses from other companies. And no, I do not throw them around or scratch them with my keys. The first time was within the first 2 weeks of owning them, so luckily they were still under warranty. The glasses are always either on my face, sitting upright on a surface, or in the case. I went to Sundance and it was snowing and a little windy, which is apparently what scratched the lenses? Super disappointing. They told me this was some kind of exception with the bad lens quality and eventually did a case study on this style, which my pair were a part of. Similar situations have happened twice more. I now need to replace them again, but I am so frustrated with having to pay a replacement fee that I'll likely buy new frames with a different company whose lens quality is trustable and allow you to upgrade to scratch resistant. I have also asked if this is possible (to pay more for more quality) and have been told it's not. All around super disappointed with this product. read more

The absolute easiest way to purchase glasses! I've bought two pairs from this location in the past year and each time was under 20 minutes with tons of friendly help. They keep a lot of modern styles, not so much that you get overwhelmed but enough to have fun playing with samples in the store before choosing the perfect pair. Frames range from 96-$145 including single vision lenses. Checkout is simple on an iPad. They quickly measure your eyes, then a few days later you get a bright blue little box in the mail with you shiny new specs! Okay, so here's the crack in the pretty picture that WP paints. Let me preface this by saying that in the span of four weeks I made two separate purchases. The first was for regular eyeglasses and the second was for sunglasses. I was intrigued by the Home Try-On deal they offer. That's where you select up to five different frames and they send them to your house to try on in the comfort and privacy of your domicile. It's a good hook to get you to come in and finalize a purchase which you have to do especially if you get progressive lenses. Everything went well and the swell staff and I all had a great time ordering my glasses and I opted to have them sent to my home even though I've never had a pair of glasses fit my face perfectly right out of the box. Who has? They always need to be twisted and bent to make them sit straight on my mug, but I digress. The glasses arrived within the promised time and I went back to WP to have them ajusted to my face. So far, so good... Flash forward a couple of weeks later. By this time I've received so many compliments on my appearance that my life is now better than I ever imagined because of WP! I figure the only way to make this new life of mine even better is to get WP sunglasses. Once again, I go online and browse WP sunglasses. There's this frame and that frame, this colored lens and that colored lens. Little do I know what's in store for me. Anyway, I decide to go with the same frame as have on my new glasses but I'll have a pair that are sunglasses. I mean, why mess with perfection, right? j/k I see my frames offered in sunglasses in two different colors and two different lenses. Aside from the color of the plastic that comprises the frame they are identical in size and shape. Identical, except for the color. On my day off I jump in the car and drive to WP on AK and park my car. Yeah, boo hoo, parking is a beotch but welcome to Venice I say. Into the store I walk right up to the frames on display and tell the nice, blue smocked young dude what I want. He whips out his iPad to find my account and within a few swipes and touches of his iPad and finds me. Now keep in mind that they have my prescription and other measurements necessary to fit my eyes. They have my personal info. They have my address. In fact, i discover that I didn't even need to go there because of the super efficiency of WP all my necessary info is on file and since I'm getting the same frame as I have now no other measurements are needed. Talk about progress! What they don't have and what they won't have is simply the color of lens I want. Here's the weird and totally arbitrary part of their business model that makes no sense whatsoever and really makes WP look like an amateur operation posing as professionals. Sorry to sound harsh but there's no explanation for the fact that I cannot get the color of lens I want in the color of frame I ordered. Here's the deal- My frame comes in two colors. Brown and grey. Each color comes in one and only one color of lens. Brown gets green, grey gets grey. They refuse to make my grey color frame with the green color lens offered in the other exact same size/shape frame. This would be like refusing to let a customer put mustard on a hamburger but let them put it on a hotdog. This would be like having blueberry pancakes and banana waffles on the menu but you can't make banana pancakes and blueberry waffles. Hell, it ain't even that complicated but you get my point... I call the toll free number to talk to them about this because I'm kinda miffed. I spoke to two people and from both conversations the reasons offered are because "designers designed them this way" or words to that effect. Of course they're apologetic and say all kinds of things like how much they appreciate my feedback and bla bla bla. So even though these two frames of the same size and shape that come from the same place made with the same prescription lenses can be offered in a color that they have I cannot get what I want because of the designers. Millennials... Ps. Costco can do everything WP can do with any color lens you want and you don't have to be a member. I know Costco ain't on AK Blvd but hell, have the last laugh and buy the frames at WP and take them to Costco. Pss. I don't want to hate on WP but they need to grow up.
