Ever since my bowling alley in Norwalk closed, my wife and I have been coming here a few times. It's nice to see that the employees we met at the Norwalk location are now working here. This place is great, and the ambiance is fantastic during cosmic bowling. Their food area is a bit larger than the Norwalk one, and they serve a good variety of food. Their website makes it easy to reserve a lane, and the prices are reasonable. Tonight, we ordered mozzarella sticks, buffalo wings, and fries, along with a few pitchers of beer. The bar area is spacious, and their jukebox, which we can control via the app, helps set the mood for the night. We will definitely be returning and possibly joining a league. read more

Del Rio Lanes in Downey have other sister bowling locations in Norwalk and Riverside. We came here for some old-fashion "sport" family fun. Del Rio Lanes located in a plaza shared with a couple other businesses but occupying half of the strip mall. There are plenty of parking in the front and back area of the building. The signage is clearly marked and easily visible from the main streets. The venue has modern features (display boards), food kitchen with cafeteria seatings, and over 24+ lanes to support kid-friendly (birthday parties) or other group events.  The staff are nice -- quickly took our reservations, lane assignments and provided us our shoes. We came for a cosmic bowling birthday party and the kids had a blast. It was pretty busy for Valentine's Day night. The staff were friendly and the food was pretty good for a bowling alley. I was surprisingly happy with the mini corn dogs as well as their onion rings. Overall, it was pretty decent "bar food." I didn't pay for it so I'm not sure how the pricing was (probably not the greatest) but the food was decent. Other than that, bowling was fun. On a Friday night, first time here I was bowling, the bowling alley parking lot small and no more parking, they did not give fair warning that your car will get towed if you are parked next door to the grocery store. . My car got towed around 9pm, grocery store was already closed so not impeding in customers. Bowling alley only announced in loud speaker that your car was towed. This has to be a constant issue with the bowling alley!! For customer service they should have announced as a courtesy for first time comers or in general for good customer support to forewarn their customers ahead of time. We had fun bowling here, but it was rather expensive at $45/pp. Also, there isn't much room for groups larger than 3 unless you have multiple lanes. All the balls in my size and weight range were REALLY beat up with deep scratches in them. I've never seen this before. Also, our lane kept malfunctioning and restarting turns. Our first time here and turns out nightmare, because they have small parking and its full, so we decided to park close by to the bowling alley which is the market, this bowling aware that if you park there they will towing your car ( without giving a early warning to all the customers) at last minute they announced it and our car towed already, we pay $442 the next day to get our car out....bad thing is we are customer here and they can't protect customers, they can't do anything. Before Covid I was a regular here. My best friend Susan and I used to come bowling in the afternoons. She has dementia it was a great way to keep her mind active. Then Covid hit and we were all told to stay away from The elderly. Due to sitting still with no activity she's become a vegetable unfortunately. I'm so glad that the bowling alleys open . It was my first time back since covid. Man I miss her it's sad because she still alive she just doesn't remember me anymore. Thank you Del Río lines for giving us so many memories together. March 18, 2023, I had a cosmic bowling party for my daughter's 12th birthday. We reserved and prepaid everything online which made it all convenient. We reserved 5 lanes. In total we had a party of about 40 people with kids and parents and 25 people who bowled. We got to the bowling alley 30 minutes prior to our bowling time. All of our party were able to get their bowling shoes beforehand and were ready before our lanes became available. The employee who was assisting me with everything, his name was Kyle. Anything I needed, I went to him. He was so awesome! He was super friendly, easy to deal with, he made everything go smoothly. The other employees who worked that night all way down to the employee who brought out our pizzas, they were all amazing. We ordered about 8 pizzas and 8 pitchers of different drinks. Keep in mind, when getting to the bowling alley thirty minutes prior to your bowling time, place your food order. It does take time for the food to come out. I placed my order too late and the food didn't come out until 45 minutes into our bowling session. In which our session was only 2 hours. That one was my fault. After our 2 hour bowling session was over, we did cake and passed out candy bags in their party room. I would say, the party room is a little outdated and smelled a little weird but it did it's job. A nice little update on that room probably would be a great idea. All in all, our whole party had such a great time. It was our (family) first time here. The alley theme on Saturday is cosmic night, which the family enjoyed. However, we did have a few problems with our alley, as it would freeze and the pins would not reset while having 10 minutes left. We would ask the desk guys if they can help us, which they did without a problem, but after the third time Mike Canmarata, Center Manager, stepped in and offer us more play time. Unfortunately, we declined the offer as it was already late but he still mange to give me his business card so we can reach out to him the next time we go. The lanes are nice but they do not allow outside food even when they cannot provide food themselves. I reserved lanes for my son's birthday. The pizza place told us they have a 2 hour wait because they accepted an order for a large party. They also had a 45 min wait for finger foods for the same reason. When I brought this up to the bowling alley staff and asked if I could instead bring outside food, they would not accommodate us and told us to instead contact the manager who was not on site at the time. read more

For Father's Day this year (2014) I asked a couple of friends if they wanted to join my hubby, our baby girl, and me to some bowling at Del Rio Lanes in Downey. If you need to rent shoes, they take one of your shoes as ransom. But their bowling shoes are clean and seem kind of newer - unlike other places I have frequented. They have a sock machine if you forget socks... I didn't see any pairs available in this vending machine, but I'm sure if you asked, they could help. We never had issues with the game, pins, or bowling ball machine. Check out their times & special events for even cheaper bowling dates. It means going earlier, but it's less crowded and not many birthday parties from 10 am to noon. We paid for 2 $3 games on that Sunday, then when a birthday group came in, the employees asked us if we wanted a free game if we moved lanes. Heck yea... We moved in the midst of a game & enjoyed our free 3rd game like easy breezy. Squeezy's Pizza is inside toward the front entrance. There's a full bar in the middle, but if you want non-alcoholic beverages and some pretty decent pizza, they hook it up... They also have burgers, sandwiches, and other finger foods like nachos, wings, popcorn chicken, chicken strips, etc. Our group had a couple pitchers of Shock Top ($9.50 each) from the bar. My medium Sprite was under $3 and our large 2-topping pizza from Squeezy's we all shared was like $18. The pizza was ready for us to walk back and pick up within like 12 minutes, though, it wasn't busy at that time (11:30-ish). All of the employees here are real nice including the bar & Squeezy's. There is a designated smoking room. A few video games. Decent parking lot, but I imagine it can fill up at certain times. Great atmosphere. Family-oriented. Yes, the woman's handicapped stall has a baby changing station! And yes, there is a lane, maybe even more, that accommodates wheelchairs. This latter part is what made me push my rating up to 5 stars, no joke. It's fun to bowl here every once in a while. Something different to do and laugh at yourself. Hello to everyone who has written a 1-Star review on Del Rio Lanes! I have joined your club of being humiliated and escorted out by their security. The management here is non existent and they solve all their problems by kicking people out. So if you want to waste your money, and have security make you feel like you've done something wrong, then please visit Del Rio Lanes! Our Friday night started out good. There was no wait at 9pm, and service was not good or bad, there was just no customer service. They start the countdown timer right after you pay, so I suggest ordering your food and drinks beforehand. The bowling pins kept messing up during the game, and at the point, I still didn't let that bother me. Towards the end of the night, everyone else was bowling in empty lanes to get extra practice shots. And yes, a friend of mine was one of several groups who bowled in different empty lanes. They announced to everyone to not bowl in a lane that is not yours, and my friend did not hear and saw that everyone else was doing it, so he bowled an extra ball down the empty lane. At that point security came and started saying "All of you need to leave immediately" with no explanation whatsoever. Not once in the entire night did she say why we were being kicked out - I didn't even get the chance to grab my purse and she kept demanding on us to leave. Out of all the groups that were also bowling in a lane that wasn't there's, they singled us out. And of course, we ARE paying customers that payed a lot of money to bowl that night. One of us had to use the restroom and we all wanted to wait for him to use it so we can all leave together and the security guard wouldn't even let us wait for our friend!! We had to wait outside in 40 degree weather while our friend was in the bathroom. It was freezing and raining. Note: there was no overhang to stand under! Even once we left the building, the security insisted that we leave immediately. She kept saying that we needed to leave even though we were waiting for our Uber. I guess she wanted us to stand in the middle of the streets! The security guard was definitely on a power trip. She did not have to escort us out all the way to the parking lot and have everyone stare at us. I am a firm believer that businesses look at their Yelp reviews to see what they can change and improve on. I have a business if my own and I like constructive criticism. But after seeing multiple reviews about bad service, bad management, and being kicked out by security, I don't think they care about their customers. This will probably be the last time I bowl there until I l hear that they've changed things up. If my followers know me, I always tried to find the positives in places and give restaurants and attractions a couple tries, but this weekend was disappointing. So let's begin with RICHARD.. he was really rude speaking to me as if I was stupid, he mention to make reservations online which we did and it took the payment so I went back and I asked him can you please check if my reservation went through and he was already with an attitude as it is he mention I don't see your name and I told him well it took my payment and then the website went blank with a caption page not found. I even showed Richard the website and he said as I mention earlier "oh by the way he even slow down his sentence as if I was slow" the payment will be taken from your bank account but if it doesn't go through then you will receive your refund in a few business days. I grew up going to this bowling alley and always had a great time however I will not be back ever again. I tried to take my 80 year old grandma here to bowl yesterday day. When I asked to have to bumpers automatically come up on her turn I was told that they are ONLY for children. I pressed the issue and was told that they will only allow them for children no exceptions. According to one of the guys, their bumpers are "very sensitive" The children using them, I'm sure, are bowling much harder than my grandma, who's 6lbs ball very slowly makes it down the lane. I couldn't believe it! I asked for my money back will never be going back there again! read more
