Great from the start! Our first with them was a few years ago, when Terry did a tune-up and gave us his perspective of our aged system. He told us 5 more years tops. He was totally honest and very friendly. A year later, the condenser went out so replaced it and decided we needed to replace the entire system the following year. We recently purchased a hybrid HVAC so that we could take advantage of our solar. After doing a lot of research and then asking for quotes, selecting Blue Star was an easy decision. The owner, Dennis, came most prepared and actually took various measurements so that he could hone in on the most perfect system for us - no one else did that! Everything in our installation went perfectly throughout the day. Even when they encountered an issue (which they did a few times), they discussed, asked me, discussed again and then implemented the best solution. Communication from this company is above average, something others should notice! At the end of the day, installation completed, all testing and sign-off completed and then it was just a billing cycle to see just how efficient we were. Well, well, for the 2 weeks of 4 weeks in the bill for our first glimpse, the charge for gas and electric was negligible. It won't be that way next month for one of our coldest months in a long time, but I also won't be spending $100's for gas either (of course, depending on how much solar we get). Wow, wow, wow --- just goes to show that when you are an expert, know what you are talking about, and, have your customer's best interest at heart, the result is making your customer successful, which in turn is 100% customer satisfaction. Professional, Prompt, and Cost Effective service. I met with the owner, Jeff, and he checked out our, non-existent system, set-up, took measurements and determined what type/size AC unit we could put into our space. Jeff wrote me an estimate on the spot. I believe he was the 4th person I met with to price AC installation and he beat all competitors pricing by a few G's. They also offer a good warranty package along with purchase of new units. They installed an AC unit, in our home with no existing system, in just 1 day. Blue Star made sure that a support structure was built and had the new AC unit lifted up and placed on top of the roof of our house, for a reasonable additional cost. AMAZING COMPANY sent the most amazing technician, Terry!! (His shirt name tag rightfully read "Terrific Terry") .. now, I hope I will not have to call for AC repair again nowhere in the near future, but if I must, Blue Star will be the company I call AND recommend. Once the 100+ weather hit in the Bay Area, that's when we found out our AC was not working! This Blue Star ended up being the second company we called after a different company sent a technician who didn't even go out to look at the unit, only The electrical box, so we did not trust that first company's tech when he quoted us $1200 for a fix... but When TERRY arrived he got straight to business and found the issue very quickly, fixed it, checked the temperature to confirm it worked and went on his way. The weather cooled down, so we didn't use AC right after his visit, until the hot weather hit again, second time we found our AC not working.. I went out myself to check the unit and found refrigerant leaking.. called them back out, and during the 100 degree weather, they admitted to being VERY busy, but because of it being the second time we called within two weeks, they tried everything in their power to get someone back out, it took a few days, but they updated us in the process, and understanding a small business we did not rush them. But when TERRY came out the second time he listened to what I found, checked it and confirmed a leak, he was in and out within 40 minutes fixing the leak, and confirming no more leaks after a fill recharge. PLEASE READ THIS; After dealing with the 2 Previous years of triple digit temperatures and dealing with a Constant broken Ac unit. My Family and I saved enough to have our Ac unit and furnace replaced this year with New ones. So, it was imperative that I would find exactly what we needed for my 3,000 sf home to replace our 25year old Ac Unit and furnace. Again we didn't have an enormous amount of Money, but I did get an estimate the last time we had another Ac repair company ( not Blue Star) who came to service our home for lack of freon. With that estimate I had a Ball Park of how much it was going to cost me. Within the following Winter months of 2015-2016 , I researched all the Top Hvac Companies that I found on Yelp that had the Best ratings and reviews, again there is a Handful of Hvac Companies that have Good ratings of Reviews. I set up the times each company would come in and evaluate our Ac unit and furnace and give their estimate of how much it would cost us to have them replaced. Each of the Hvac Companies came and gave their estimates which lasted about 10 minutes and each estimate I was given were pretty much the same in cost. But, their services were different, One Company told me that I didn't need a permit and another Company told me that they would not work on my Air ducts and they would be using my existing Freon lines and Power box and they would only swap in a New Ac unit and Furnace for the old ones. Not feeling Comfortable with any of the Hvac Companies I got an estimate from, by the Grace of God I found enough patience to call two more Hvac Companies for an estimate. This Time I called Blue Star and a another Hvac Company. I scheduled the Hvac companies to come on the same day, one right after the other. Jeff( Owner ) of Blue Star came and began his evaluation, I was first impressed with his Energy and then he throughly investigated everything that had to do with my Ac unit and Furnace. Jeff checked out my Power lines and Freon lines. He explained that he would get the permits from the city and also register my New units so my warranty would be active. I told him my concerns of constantly having my freon filled every year and I may have a leak, Jeff assured me that he would also replace my Copper freon lines, work on my air ducts, replace my power box and cables, replace my Control box, put in a new vent covering from the return air vent, And he presented a photo of his previous work his company has done. At this point Jeff was at my house for about an Hour. He also gave me Pamphlets of my New Ac unit and Furnace. Jeff explained that his evaluation was not an Estimate but a quote and signed. Jeff was the only one who actually wrote down every service he would do and the Price I would have to pay. And to my Surprise and Amazement it was the Lowest Estimate/Quote I received from Any other Hvac Company. Jeff also explained that I would not pay anything until the City inspector and the H.E.R.S. Testers came and gave their thumbs up on the work Blue Star have done. At that moment I knew I found my Hvac Company. In the following days Blue Star came and did exactly what Was written on the service sheet and more, They even put new Smoke Alarms in each room and 2 Carbon detectors in my home included in my price. Blue Star went beyond my Expectations. I know it's a Headache on who to trust and if the service will be exact as each Hvac Company claim and what their attitude will be when they do come. I'm telling you, Don't waste your time With anyone else , I'm pretty sure each Hvac Company are Skilled in their trade. But I have never experienced the Service I have Gotten from Blue Star or in the years that I may have lost hope in anyone taking Pride in their workmanship, Blue Star gave that back to me. I called three firms to review irritating rumble in my 18 year old Concord furnace. The first wanted $125 to send someone out plus T&M charges after arrival (forget dat!); the second charged me $65 on a mass mailed couipon to allegedly inspect and adjust 20-some items. They did nothing and after 60 seconds of a glance at the system bad mouthed the condition of my system and try to sell me a new one (forget dat2!). Jeff came out for a free estimate, gave me a bid to replace a motor but cautioned against it until further justification was determined. While here he noticed an inefficient setting in blower speed that had existed for some time from prior work of others, changed that with an option setting for free, and I had him install a new thermostat that I had intended to install myself but got over my head, and charged me $100 for that work - more than a fair deal.
