I returned and got the chai roll, seasonal focaccia, and pumpkin seed croissant. All were 10/10. This is my favorite bakery I've tried in Chi town thus far. A little pricey but worth it.

INCREDIBLE! We came in close to closing and were worried that they would be out of parties esp since as we arrived we saw a line out the door. When we walked in, it was moving quickly! We loved seeing so many different cook books featuring Filipino recipes as we waited. When we got to the front, we ordered one of basically everything. The seasonal bread, get it. Don't ask questions you're going to love it no matter what. This particular one was leeks and whatever not and I'm still thinking about it. The Turon pasty and the ube oatmeal cream pie still live rent free as well. Overall a great experience, but be prepared for the $$$. It is worth every penny though!

This is a very small counter bakery. There's no seating and there's usually a line. Luckily they will be expanding soon! I recommend you go on a week day to avoid long lines. The pastries were delicious but I wouldn't personally wait in a 30 minute line for them. I did have a pandan matcha latte that was yummy!

Small space inside, long line on weekends. Ther is no sitting area inside so plan accordingly. They sell out quickly on weekends. Service is great. While I was standing in line they came out with mini version of their pastries with paper and palate and utensils which is so thoughtful. Inside host was super helpful in making selection. Vegetarian rating out of 5. They have limited choices for me so would love to see more increase Latte with mocha and ube syrup - 3.5 - next time I will try with oat milk as whole milk was too heavy. The salt taste was not my favorite Adobe brownie - 4 Uber cookies - love the Uber filling not fan of oatmeal cookie on the top.

This was from the Uniqlo x Del Sur collab. I was so excited to get the chance to finally try one of the best Filipino bakeries in Chicago! Loved the turon danish 9.5/10! It had a banana flavor and loved the dried banana slices on top. Loved how crispy the croissant is. I could eat a thousand of these. Chocolate chip cookie was ok nothing standout. The texture not my thing tho. 4/10 I can't wait to visit the actual store and try more pastries!

We came here on a cold and rainy Sunday morning. Despite the weather conditions, this place still had a damn line and it seems like we were there for maybe 20-30 minutes. It's that good. We took home a box of 4 pastries. All were delicious and this place quickly became a family favorite. I bought their Turin Danish, Ube Oatmeal Cream Pie, Calamasi Chamomile Bun and their Adobe Brownie. All were good but my two favorites were their Turan Danish, and their Ube Oatmeal Pie. The Adobe brownie was unique, but it sure I would get it again. I will definitely be returning.

We decided to finally make the adventure to Del Sur and boy was it one! When we finally got there we joined the line and it took about 30-40 minutes to get inside, so I'd recommend grabbing a snack beforehand. The inside is cute and was decorated for Valentine's Day. We tried: - Ube Oatmeal Cream Pie - Calamansi Chamomile Bun - Longanisa Croissant - Turon Danish - Pandan Basque Cake - Ube Latte - Salted Pandan Latte Everything was good and surprisingly affordable! At then end it came to about ~$5 an item or so. I'd say my favorite was the Calamansi Chamomile Bun and Salted Pandan Latte. It is definitely worth a visit but expect a wait.

Del Sur hype is real! I grabbed a box of pastries for my friend and got to try the longganisa croissant, which was a total party for my taste buds! The croissant flakey texture and layers were perfect and the longganisa sausage was delicious and not overly sweet. For me personally, I would like the salt dialed down as I'm sensitive to it, but for general population, it's balanced. I arrived at 10:50am and there were about 11 people ahead of me (outside the front door) and about 8-10 (inside). I was out the door under 30 min later at 11:18am with my box of pastries. If you want a hand crafted drink, then you might wait longer. I recommend arriving earlier because one pastry type was already sold out by 11am and the line was super long wrapped around the block after I arrived. Staff are super friendly and happy to explain anything. I want to suggest to them to allow for prepaid online ordering like Kasama does so customers and pre-order and pay online so they can just walk in and pick up their baked goods. Instead of asking staff to explain to every customer on every baked item that is labeled with ask staff what the flavor special is, have that info ready at the face of the door with pictures so customers are ready to order when at the register. Both these items can speed up the queue. The location is great for public transport users: right in front of #50 Damen bus stop and right next to the Damen Brown Line entrance. Parking is a total PITA and difficult to find, so I recommend parking a few blocks farther away and walk.

Cute little bakery with delicious pastries, amazing chai and lovely staff. Expect a line outside on the weekends but should not take more than 15 mins and at the end it is worth it (at least the first time). Everything I have tried here is really good, come with an open mind and an empty stomach and you won't be disappointed.

Been wanting to try this place for months! The lines are usually very long. But the wait paid off! Had to wait for about 5 minutes. Got the caramelized honey matcha and some sort of croissant with lemon cream filling. I'm not a big fan of matcha usually but this one was amazing. The lemony croissant was a small cloud of heaven. The filling was lemony and tart and it paired really good with the sweetness of the dough. The place is very small and even though it's extremely busy , it was very clean. Now I get the hype of this place! Definitely will return !

Stopped by on a cold Saturday morning and was surprised there was no line! Everything in the case looked so good, I had to practice self-control not to order one of everything. The longanisa croissant was solid, though a bit hard to eat (definitely a fork-and-knife situation). The salted yolk topping was a nice touch. The pandan basque cake was my favorite - amazing texture and crumb, and the pandan flavor was spot on. The pumpkin seed croissant was also delicious and incredibly flaky. Already looking forward to coming back to try more!

I get the hype. Wow what incredible pastries. I wasn't even planning on stopping by today but I just happened to be in the area. I came in around 1pm on a Sunday and there were maybe 2-3 people ahead of me, hardly any wait time. The staff were so nice and patient with me as I had no idea what to order, very helpful in offering suggestions and explaining what each thing was. I ended up getting an ube ensaymada and a pandan basque cake w mango jelly. Both were exceptional. Balanced flavors and nothing that was overpowering. My pandan cappuccino was also fantastic.

I love this place!! The pastries are so good I don't even care how long the line is. Everything is delicious the longanisa croissant, the foccacias, danishes, cookies, all of it! The coffee is great and the service is so friendly. I just love this place. They even have the most gorgeous flowers as a centerpiece when you come in. Great space.

I especially liked the longanisa breakfast sandwich and chicken adobo. I'm so glad that they were willing to make the breakfast sandwhiches beyond 12pm for some of us waiting in line. Fyi they normally stop making the breakfast sandwhiches at noon. Be prepared to wait in line for at least an hour, this spot is super popular. I also really enjoyed the chicken adobo. The chicken was tender and I thought the hint of sweetness from the coconut flakes sprinkled on top was a pleasant touch. I also really liked the Manila fog drink - it wasn't too sweet or overpowering. For the ube huckleberry basque cake - I mostly tasted tartness from the huckleberry and not so much ube, but it was good regardless. The staff were all pretty nice. There's indoor and outdoor seating. You'll likely be able to make a friend or two from the wait in line haha. Highly recommend trying this place at least once!

I actually don't like truffle or croissant but this was flaky, and the rock sugar (I think that's what it is?) on top is so addicting. the cream truffle filling was flavorful but not overpowering -- longanisa egg sandwich + hashbrown: 7/10 just wasn't a standout for me -- mushroom adobo: 8/10 it was flavorful - I would order again but not sure it's worth almost $20 for drinks, we both got the hot yam but my boyfriend got it iced and I got it hot -- it tasted better iced but it was still lacking in ube flavor. the coffee also didn't taste strong enough for me personally honestly I really wanted to like this place more but for almost $100 for everything and the long wait, I expected at least half of the items to be perfect but I felt like only the truffle croissant felt like a 10/10 for me I will say the staff was very sweet though -- maybe it's a better experience dining in, so I think next time I will wake up early to eat inside and hopefully be able to give a higher rating :-)

They have a good beverage selection and the vanilla latte was delicious. For two people, we got a Pinoy Burrito and a half order each of croquetas, lumpia, and beef empanadas, two items coming in each half order, and it was the perfect amount of food. Our favorite was definitely the croquetas. I couldn't even tell you what was in them but the inside was soft and mushy in the best way with a crisp outside and a really yummy sauce. I also really like the empanadas with tasty tops vieja and a creamy, ranchy sauce. The Pinoy burrito was also really good, especially the bites with a good chunk of sausage and the sauce that came with it was also super tasty (as you can tell I'm big on good sauces). The lumpia was probably my least favorite but still good and crispy with a decent sauce, just liked the other things better!!

Where it fell short for me was the service. There were 3 staff members in FOH, and it was literally just us in there until 545, yet it was nearly impossible to catch our server's eye. He was perfectly polite but very much absent. We have to wave him down (by leaning into his path, lol) for a second round, as well as for the check. A few people had streamed in by the time we left around 630, and if it had been that busy the whole time, I'd have understood. But he did walk by our table multiple times, scanned it for empties (which were there) but blatantly avoided eye contact when it was clear we needed something. Overall, other than that clear staff training issue, everything was great.

Moody, fine dining Filipino restaurant in ravenswood/north center Chicago…read more The experience of this place really starts when you enter the restaurant. I was a big fan of the interior. Dark moody lighting with warm colored lamps really sets the tone for the meal you are about to eat. Service was incredibly kind and attentive. Everyone's so lovely. The food is exactly what you'd expect - elevated Filipino and overall INCREDIBLE. Here's what we got/my thoughts. Coco ginger daiquiri - 5/5 - really refreshing. You could taste each component of the drink which was fun to experience. Sisig - 4/5 - I'll start by saying I'm really particular about my sisig. For sisig to be a 5 for me, it *has* to be crunchy. And that's the only thing this sisig was missing. For coming out on a sizzling plate, it was a little too wet, even after the sizzling. Despite this though, the flavors were there and they were delicious. Garlic rice - 5/5 - best garlic rice I've ever had in my life. Just get it. That's all I have to say. Pancit canton - 4/5 - if I'm being honest, it's hard to really elevate pancit canton. But this was a good attempt, it just seemed to be missing something to put it over the top. Really appreciated the fresh vegetables with the noodles. Lumpia - 5/5 - like pancit canton, it seems hard to elevate lumpia but they freaking did it. This was so good. The filling was nice and juicy and had great flavor. Kare Kare - 5/5 - Kare Kare was my favorite dish growing up but I've never experienced it elevated to such a high level until boonies. The meat was so tender, cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The vegetables being carmelized was also quite the treat. Didn't realize until after the fact that the sauce isn't made with peanuts, so huge plus that gives our peanut allergic friends the opportunity to experience such an amazing dish. So well done.

This was a great, cozy spot to try a different take on Filipino food. Being a Filipina myself, I'm…read moretorn between labeling it because I feel like some of the dishes are more Filipino-inspired while others are definitely elevated-Filipino. Either way, it's a good place to try a twist on your favorites or dip into something new. I especially appreciated that there were a lot of vegetarian options which is hard to find in Filipino food, like our "veggie" lumpia usually has small bits of meat in it, lol. We were warmly welcomed, seated relatively quickly, and the service was attentive and timely. The place is cozy and on the dark side so my pics aren't the greatest. We had the Inihaw ng Talong which is basically grilled eggplant that came brushed with sunflower butter, loaded with tomatoes and garnished with cilantro. This was a nice start but a small one. The eggplant was smoky and creamy and complimented by the bright tomatoes. The Satti Manok, skewered grilled chicken, with cornbread sticky rice was good, but I've definitely had better for a lot less. This is usually a staple you'll find at any Filipino family's BBQ but the cornbread sticky rice was a surprisingly nice treat. If you've had this before, somewhere else, I'd skip it to try something else. The Sinigang Caesar was such a nice twist that totally made sense! My only complaint is that it was served with Bibb lettuce instead of a crunchy romaine. I enjoyed this so much I've been making my Caesar dressings with a sprinkling of Sinigang powder now and my family loves it. The Kare Kare gulay was nice and I enjoyed it. The charred cabbage gave it some extra depth that I think is needed to pull this off because this sauce is made with sunflower butter instead of peanut butter. This was great for me because I'm allergic to peanuts but it definitely changes the flavor, making it a little sweeter and lighter. I wish they would've made this with cashew or almond butter to keep it closer to the rich, deep flavors of a Kare Kare. The Maitake mushrooms -- I absolutely loved. I've never had this before and it reminded me of a good Laing which is also made with a spiced coconut sauce. I definitely could've eaten this all to myself with the garlic rice. Yes, the garlic rice is good but I was surprised to see it go for $6 a bowl. Rice is usually so cheap, if not complementary in Filipino restaurants and garlic rice is quite common, especially for breakfast (yes, I sabreakfast). It was cooked perfectly though. The mango float was delicious. Not sure why it's called a float but it was mango and mascarpone ice cream nestled in a mango sauce and topped with a delicate, crumbly butter cookie. I will definitely come back for more if I'm ever in the area again. I'd be excited to try other things on their menu.

On my latest visit, I was able to meet Chef Kathy who was extremely kind and cultivated such a warm environment where all her guests were also community. It's the kind of place you want to come back to not just for the food but the people there. Give this place a try, you'll love it!
