I'm trying to understand what is so great about this Del Taco. I went there today for the first time after hearing everyone I know hype it up. To start off, they had plenty of seating which caught my attention right away. We got the regular crunchy tacos and fries combo. The meat doesn't have flavor and the taco shells were stale. I did like that they put extra cheese on these tacos. The restrooms were fairly clean. The workers there weren't as friendly as I thought they would be. There is plenty of parking as well especially for larger vehicles. I'm honestly at a loss for words that I spent money here but now I can say I've tried it and I didn't like it. read more

It was all good until I ordered macho steak nachos and received a burrito. Then went to let them kno and still did not receive what ordered. They brought me ground beef vs steak. I am NOT exaggerating when I say that this is the best Del Taco location I have ever been to!!! My friends and I were driving back home from Vegas and we decided to make a pitstop at this Barstow Del Taco. I'm aware that this is fast food but it's way better than just fast food here. I ordered the chicken soft taco meal with fries and I have never received more chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese in my taco than I ever have here! It was so fresh and filling! They have all the sauces and condiments neatly organized on all the tables and there's a wide selection of drinks including various teas. I'm not going to try and convince you that this is the greatest authentic Mexican food you will ever have, because it's not. What it is, is the best Mexican fast food you'll ever have. It has become a family tradition for us to stop in Barstow for tacos on our way to Las Vegas for a delicious quick bite. I can't tell you why this can't be duplicated at other franchises but the food here is fresher and much tastier. If other fast food places had the same quality and service as Del Taco Barstow there would not be such a negative connotation associated with fast food. Food is pretty good here, not a fan of the ground beef taste or the uncut tomato on the Barstow taco but everything came out fast and friendly. Clean place and everything was nicely stocked and maintained, which is important to me, I hate a messy counter. This is the greatest Del Taco location I've ever been to. Prices are a little higher but the amount of food is also much more. The vicinity is large and parking is easy. Clean bathrooms, great staff, and quickly prepared food. The perfect pit stop for any road trip. The food is heavily stuffed with ingredients. The sauces are easily accessible on the tables. There are bags and napkins available without needing to disrupt the employees. We ordered burritos and tacos and nachos. Every single item that we received were packed with delicious, freshly made, veggies and beans. I spent $15 to feed and satisfy four children plus myself. Truly perfect. Pleasantly surprised with the Del Taco for our pit stop. Hands Down THE BEST Del Taco we've visited. I just had to leave a review about. Normally don't expect too much for a fast food joint on a road trip, but Everything from the clean, spotless bathrooms to the clean, sanitized tables. If you're going or coming back from Vegas and looking for a quick grab, definitely stop by here! My boyfriend had mentioned that this was the OG Del Taco and when I searched it up, I was so shocked to see such a high rating. Needless to say, this has become a regular stop for us on our way back from Vegas. The restaurant is very clean and the service is great. They bring your food to you and all the sauces are nicely placed on each table. The tacos are PACKED. We always get the grilled chicken tacos (with sauce) and the regular barstow taco. Do not be like me an order 8 tacos only to leave with 5 tacos for lunch the next day (which by the way was still delicious). All the employees were nice and friendly. When I had an office downtown, I would occasionally drop by the Del Taco on B Street. Now that I've been retired for a while, it was neat to try the Del Taco in Barstow on a recent trip to Sin City. Wow, what a difference, this place rocks ! Although my expectations were modest, I was very impressed by the size and taste of the Del Beef Burrito ($3.59). Much better than the downtown San Diego location. And they serve Coca-Cola, not Pepsi. Yay! Fast service, good food, Coke, and a veritable army of workers in the kitchen, this place is where you want to stop for a quick snack on your way to Lost Wages. read more

BEST DEL TACO EVER. But I'm sure you've heard that before. This was my second time here. The first time was several years ago and it was a random stop, I wasn't aware at that time of the historical significance behind this location, being one of the original 3 (The "El Tri"). I just thought it was a well run Del Taco. Everything is done perfectly here. It is super clean and the food is extra good. They even bring your order to your table a la' Carls Jr. I am already a big del taco fan, and I have certain locations I love and others I don't. This is one of the best. I wish it was closer to home so I can frequent it, but that would probably ruin the magic of this location a little. Now it's reserved only as a pit stop during Vegas road trips. As 4th of July is this week, they had a huge booth right outside the parking lot selling Fireworks.galore. This added to the "middle of nowhere desert location" feel to the place. Also, a homeless man asked me for money right outside. I said Sorry and moved inside. He followed me in and sat down at the adjacent booth and placed a foot long sheathed knife (LONG RIGID KNIFE!) onto the table while he sipped his free drink refill. This also added to the magical "middle of nowhere desert location" feel. I then realized he may not have been asking me for change outside, but was mugging me. My spicy jack chicken quesadilla and "Barstow chicken taco" were so good I barely even got anxious turning my back to him as I enjoyed my meal. They have little baskets of hot sauce ON EVERY TABLE. If you have never been to this Del Taco, you have no idea what you are missing. This is the first Del taco built and the food taste totally different. It is so much better. If you stop here you must try the Barstow taco. It is so good and doesn't even compare to the other tacos at any other Del Taco. Everything here is different, the beans, cheese, meat and even the wrappers are old school. The only downside to this place is that the bathrooms are usually dirty because this place is so busy. Unexpected discovery! I'm a fan of Del Taco in general, but this one is special enough to warrant mention. 1) The portions are giant. At first I just thought everything was overpriced (e.g. CST - chicken soft taco at $1.70). Thanks to Yelp, I realized their Barstow menu items are not just a gimmick, but actually bigger and worth the price difference so I ordered more to be sure. The CST has so much more meat it doesn't fold and close (see picture). The bacon and egg quesadilla looks like it's on steroids, and we actually had to pull out and throw away cheese (a good thing)... the tortilla was super light and crispy, and I'm thinking the best quesadilla I've ever had. 2) It's OG here. Del Taco started here in Barstow and the 3 DTs in Barstow are historic (the very first one was actually North of here in Yermo). Now it makes sense why it looks so old on the outside. 3) Service and pride of ownership. Right away you can tell something is different here. The workers are friendlier and nicer. The building is old and dated but clean. The sauce packets are neatly organized on every table with plenty of each kind of sauce, all standing up and facing the same way - not a random crumpled pile like I'm used to. No other DT is like this, and other places in Barstow don't have particularly good or memorable customer service. I've never eaten at DT on the way home from Vegas before but it's a nice change from the usual fast food options. It's not too crowded because it's an extra block from the freeway (exit Main East on the I-15). My new favorite pit stop on this route! read more

Best Del Taco ever! My family and I drive an hour and a half to eat there even though we have another Del Taco closer to us. They are fast, efficient, and we've never had an error with our orders.
