Ok! People of Barstow.. You ain't never lied lol!! I opened up yelp to see where we should eat in this plaza and del taco had 500 review with darn near 5 stars. I was like what!!!! So started reading the reviews... a lot of people were talking about the carnitas burrito. Mind you I didn't even want del taco or pork. But guess what Im at del taco and I got the carnitas burrito. It has meat, cheese, and green sauce. I added beans and sour cream. Yo!!!!!!! It was freaking tasty. I was like well okayyyyyy then people of Barstow, go ahead with yo bad self lol. But for real it was yummy. I ate the whole burrito. One thing I noticed tho is that the prices were different. Other del tacos are cheaper. We love del taco. We had dinner in Arizona there last night and it was great. So we decided to stop there to eat dinner here in California. We ordered hamburgers since we had burritos and tacos last night. Sloppy and cold. The fries tasted like they were made hours ago. Cold food. Not tasty at all. Freshly prepared, wonderfully presented taco. It was huge too. Just like I remember growing up in the 80's. "Barstow locations only" food advertised like a tostada. Will have to try this next time. Clean, pleasant dining room with local photos for decor. Automatic water dispenser. Hot sauce on the table. They bring the food to your table. Tables constantly cleaned. Ed (just found he was the chain's founder!) greeting guests by name. He noticed my husband looking at his extra burrito and ran over with a bag so he could take it on the road. Best Del Taco I've ever been to. I'm usually not a fan of De taco but because I was passing through I didn't have much of a choice. I usually order two Classic Chicken burritos and a chicken soft taco. This time I ordered two chicken burritos and boy were they FAT. They were generous with their ingredients, yes even their chicken. I was full from just eating one. I saved my other burrito for later. Their soda tasted fresh and well carbonated; unlike other chains or locations that have their fountain drinks tasting flat and watery. The staff were friendly. Extra condiments on every table. In my opinion any business that in any way takes away from the historical significance of the original Yermo Del Taco location, formerly Burger Den, isn't able to satisfy my hunger. The Barstow Carnitas burrito, I'd have to say it's the best Del Taco I've ever had. That being said, I think the off the charts ratings are a little steep for what turns out to be just a good Del Taco. Don't get your hopes up too much, just a little more than a regular Del Taco. read more

Before my latest trip to vegas, my friend told me about wanting to try this Del Taco. I stared at him with a confuzzled ( confused and puzzled look ). A Del Taco ? Really ? Of all places to try on the way to Vegas ? Being an avid yelper I decided to consult the local yelp ratings. Ok a 4.5 star Del Taco. Now we gotta try this.... well to be fair, I like Del Taco, but normally would prefer a King Taco or El Tepayac if I was craving real Mexican food in So cal. Down to the food. I had to try a little of everything, so I ordered a Barstow taco, soft chicken taco, and a carne asada taco. Ok wow....these tacos are about as big as regular tacos, but they contain a lot more better tasting meat. The Barstow taco and the soft tacos are must orders. Ok heres the tricky part..... This is honestly the best Del Taco I've ever been to, but does it stack up against any decent Mexican restaurant ? Not in my opinion. Its worthy of a visit if you happen to be curious on the way to Vegas or broke on the way back. One of the places you have to try, but nothing to draw me back after my intial visit. read more

Was driving the minivan back on the I-15 from The Vegas battling the sandstorm, being tossed around by the winds we all got hungry. The country radio station informed of the historical Del Taco in Barstow with special menu items. Now the only time we ever stopped in Barstow was to go to the Chevron gas station there which I swear is the cleanest bathroom( even Screech from Saved by the Bell once mentioned in the movie where Zack and Kelly get hitched in Vegas) But just had to make sure we stopped by, had to see what this country radio station is talking about. The Del Taco. First off its large. many tables. Go to the front and notice special Barstow only items on the menu such as the Tostada or Carrot cake. Ok cool. Ordered a Chicken soft taco and Cheese burger and they give you a small number card. normal. You sit down, and you notice that all the tables individually have a small basket cleanly laid out with their sauce packets from ketchup to the inferno hot. None of the having to walk to the front each time to grab a handful of sauce. its right there! Its a busy place, yet within two minutes I have my food. Not from having to walk up and pick up my number being called, but a staff brings your tray! woah. this is a Del Taco.?? The food. The chicken soft taco is bigger than what I am used to. abundance on the cheese! plenty of lettuce and chicken. I was like wow.. this is a pretty taco, like ones I get from Tito's Taco in the westside. The cheeseburger had grilled buns!, now I remember Del Taco burgers being wet like any fast food joint, but this one stayed in place, mainly cause of the grilled buns. Extra care. When we were done eating, the server came back and took our trays. At the end our party felt like leaving tips on our table at this DEL TACO!? woah... You need a good excuse for a pee break, make sure to stop here and get some great service and a surprise from a fast food chain you've probably ignored in your own cit I am giving a 5 in relative to all the Del Taco and chain fast food restaurants, so take that in context. No way am I saying you will get the best burger or taco, but man, who knew. read more

First off the location of this DT on Yelp's map is wrong. Try streetviewing it. There's nothing out there. It is the one just East/South of the 15 freeway off the Lenwood exit. If one does not like DT to begin with this one isn't going to change your mind. If you do then visiting this one will make you a lifelong fan. The draw here at DT #3(I think) are the portions. Everything is maxed out. Most franchisees try to chince everything(i.e. maximize profit) but not at this corporate training store(a manager once told me). Everything is hot and fresh due to the high foot traffic. Nothing sits idle getting cold. It does have a number of items that typical DTs don't have. My fave is the carnitas taco. I'd recommend a Double Del Cheeseburger(@ any locale) carried over from the Naugles days. Best fast food burger around IMO better than InNOut. We always stop and eat here coming & going to Vegas. read more

This is the Texas of Del Tacos. Everything is bigger here. I've never been to a Del Taco where the burritos and tacos are so full that they're overflowing. And lots of cheese on everything! Without even asking for extra cheese! Yum! Went here on the way to (my 1st time) and the way back (I'm a repeat offender already) from Vegas. The quality of the food isn't any different here than at any other Del Taco, they just give you way more for your money. Bathroom was really clean too. This is my constant stop on my way to vegas and my stop on my way back to LA. This location offers the meatiest and cheeseiest burritos and tacos. I love the extra care they do by slicing my tomato length wise. I love the old school wrappers I remember when I used to come to del taco as a kid, the service is great and they deliver to your table! The owner is awesome and total people person, even cleaning up and never showing he's above the regulars. The extra lovin they put in the food all shows, I only wish more del tacos were like this, I'd be a much better fan. I believe this is the first Del Taco ever, so that's why I'm reviewing it. I ordered the 2 Barstow tacos plus quesadilla combo with a side of small fries. The tacos were way beyond my expectations. I had two larger than expected crispy tacos with a healthy topping of shredded cheese on top (you can probably tell by the pictures that people post that the staff takes pride in their food). The tacos tasted great, the shell was crunchy, the meat was seasoned well, the lettuce was fresh and crunchy and the cheese was a bonus. The quesadilla was great too, prefect amount of cheese with some green chiles inside. The fries were normal, nothing crazy there. The service was great too. I think I waited 2-3 minutes before my food was brought to me. If you're going to or coming back from Vegas, I highly recommend trying this place at least once, you won't be disappointed. read more

After a long week boating at the river and attending the Shiada Regatta in Parker, we stopped last night for a bucket full of greasy fries with salt and ketchup and they were sooo good. Had soft tacos which were really stuffed, nachos weren't that great, quesadillas were super cheesy, hard tacos were good. Cousins swore this is the best one ever and raved about this place and I hadn't ate at a Del Taco in 15 years but I would go back!! Conveniently located off the freeway, plenty of parking, good food and always crowded. Drive through does NOT accept ATM, only cash so you have to go inside for that. The bean and cheese burrito with green sauce was absolutely delicious plus they added the fresh onions which was nice. But especially the Barstow taco was one of the best. This fine establishment has been a part of most if not all of my vegas trip memories. My friends stop here on our drives back to LA/SD and it's not by design, it's almost like we're naturally gravitated to eat here when we take the exit. People hate on the fact that this is terrible Mexican food, c'mon now, they should know better to even make that comparison. It's probably the same ppl that say, "Panda Express has got some great Chinese food" ;-) It's true! This exact location has better food than other Del Taco's i've been to, that or i'm usually delirious by the time we get here after being trapped in a car for hours with very little sleep from the weekend. The Double Del Bacon Cheeseburger is quite possibly the best fastfood chain burger behind 1) Fatburger 2) In N Out, the crinkle fries when fresh are effin' awesome, the chicken soft taco with that "secret" white sauce is damn yummy. On a rare occasion, my buddies and I saw the original founder of Del Taco there, Ed Hackbarth. The old man was opening doors, bussing tables and touching tables in his Del Taco shirt with "Ed" embroidered on it. Talk about being modest and good restauranteur practice! He gave my buddy the courtesy handshake and me more of an urban handshake and chatted with us briefly, Must say, what an interesting dood! BEST DEL TACO EVER! I always try to convince the group I'm with to stop here on the way to Vegas. Recently, I showed this spot to my brother and aunt and they both were curious about all the hype. Turns out, they loved it too! Nik M. says their carnitas are really juicy. Their beans are absolutely fresh and delicious. Awesome tip: Take one bean and cheese burrito to go and heat it up after a night of drinking --- AMAZING. Inside, it's always crowded. The line is quick. Service is fast. BEST del taco ever!!! You order a normal hard taco, and open it to find 1) it's not half empty 2) you can actually see real onions diced into the beef 3) the taco is topped with a tomato 4) the taco is spilling more things onto the wrapper than is already in the taco!!! They also leave a giant basket of hot sauce at every table so you don't have to deal with people who don't understand you need for flavor or spice! Also, all four barstow locations (and I think the Yermo location?) are the founding locations and therefore share menu items that you can't get elsewhere. This is such a southern california road trip to vegas thing that it just doesnt make sense to pass it up. the face that a "best del taco in the world" exists is pretty funny and totally sounds like an urban legend, but its true. i've eaten at i think two of the three barstow locations and it does seem... almost like legit food. the tacos are fresh and cheesy and there are some items on the menu not found at any other del taco. i would recommend to all of the cynics out there to try it out. Its always packed here, but you dont really have to wait that long, and like all other del tacos, the food is dirt cheap. and why not, since you need somethng to break up that 4 hour drive. read more

With an In-N-Out across the street you'd think you'd have a pretty tough decision to make, but I'll make it easy for you this is hands down THE BEST Del Taco you will ever find!!. I wish they would have this location set the standard for the rest. We actually stopped her on our way to Vegas AND on our way back home! They put an enormous hand full of cheese on the tacos along with a slice of tomato. I had two, and was more than full! Their burritos actually have some weight to them, my husband ordered a combo burrito and it was spilling out of the top! I am used to ordering a burrito from these local Del Taco's and having to rip off the top 1/3rd of the burrito because it is all tortilla! Very disappointed that they don't offer the small breakfast burritos, kind if a bummer but it's still good. It's one of the 3 original locations (Big Ed's). The Best Del Taco. The Barstow menu is what you want. Filled with cheese and fixin's unlike the stores that came after the original 3 in Barstow. I see broke people complain that there's no dollar menu... pack a PB&J next time you leave your house! Service is quick, polite, location is clean, good RV parking (we stayed there overnight with our truck and trailer parked amongst the rigs). Easy access on/off the freeway. Absolutely a 5 star worthy establishment. I try to avoid fast food for the most part. I'm glad my girl called the audible to stop here on the never ending drive home from Vegas. The pride in service and the product delivered is clearly evident here. The restaurant is clean and the food is well prepared. The employees are courteous and helpful. This is a a Del Taco, but it is the pinnacle of Del Tacos, possibly fast food as far as I've experienced. To those who are not impressed, I don't think they are comparing it in context. You wouldn't go to a school carnival expecting Disneyland. You can't stop here and compare it to Mastro's. The Barstow menu they have is awesome. I recommend the Barstow Taco. Forget about the In N Out, hit this place up. read more
