Ok, as a kid and teenager,the idea of going to Del Taco seemed so beneath me-I was a loyalist to another popular fast food Mexican chain that I won't name. The idea of going to Del Taco was pretty much scraping the bottom of the barrel--I couldn't do it-Brand loyalty, baby. But as I got older and after a few late night drinking sessions and Del Taco being the only option between being able to sober up and drive home that night and possibly spending a night in the drunk tank, I fell hard for Del Taco. Being introduced to their grilled chicken soft tacos was a total game changer and I was hooked for life. The things I love at Del Taco include the previously mentioned grilled chicken soft taco. I adore their little baby snack tacos & don't let me get started on their red sauce bean & cheese burrito--these three items I will go to the mattresses for. So on this particular visit to the location in Natomas,I was much more responsible-This was an evening where I was out with friends watching a sporting event and I hadn't had a chance to grab dinner and since I was headed home pretty late with no food at home, I decided to pull up to my trusty always open late Del Taco on Truxel Rd. If anyone knows me they know I always order on the app,like other popular places,the app gives the best deals and best prices,and this visit was no exception. I went with a grilled chicken soft taco($2.79).I also went with a snack beef taco($1.29) & my always reliably tasty red sauce bean and cheese burrito($2.29) This is not high-level, high-quality eating folks-this is I'm desperate,I have very few options and I need something to just get me through & this trip of Del Taco delights does the trick every time. I should mention that parking is plentiful at this location, but I must also admit I've never parked here ever as I've never stepped into this location as I'm 100% drive-thru. When you order with the app,you just give the person on the speaker your name and they generally just tell ya to pull on forward to pick up your order. In closing, this location is pretty decent when it comes to being a Del Taco spot that will give you exactly what you expect from a Del Taco location--What else could you ask for? read more

Del Taco certainly isn't my "go to" but I will take it any day over Taco Bell. The restaurant was clean, has an unlocked bathroom, and the staff was friendly enough. But everything started falling apart from there. I wasn't real hungry so I ordered light...a bean and cheese burrito with onions and green sauce and a grilled chicken snacker. It came to $4 and some change. The bean burrito was only a dollar but they charged me 70¢ for onions! Really? For just a few pieces of diced white onion? Ridiculous! The tortilla was horrible. It was hard and stale, almost impossible to bite into and just not enjoyable at all. The beans were decent with some whole pintos instead of just bean slop. The cheese was fine. The chicken snacker looked and smelled pretty good with a decent amount of chicken and lots of cheese. But it was incredibly dry and seemed a bit burnt. Let's start it with a positive... I was about eighth person in the drive-through, and the line went super fast, yay! The service was excellent... Young woman at the window was very happy and welcoming. I ordered the chicken cheesy quesadilla... I had to look at my receipt to be sure that that's what I ordered because the meat looked like hamburger and maybe bacon. I looked closer and could see that it might be chicken. Del Toxic. It has been at the Natomas Marketplace for maybe 20 years now. I have been coming maybe 10x a year for the past 15. This location has a drive thru. I go inside as I hate drive thrus in case they eff up your order. Plus get all the sauces and condiments you want inside and not depend on how many they give. Another plus is you can get a drink refill inside and not in the drive thru. Plus coupons can get puzzling at times in the drive thru so inside is easier. I love me some Del. I loved Taco Bell while at college in Chico after some bar, house parties or my fraternity keg ragers. It was down the street from my fraternity house. But I found my first Del Taco in Sacramento upon moving here. They had 3 tacos for $1 on Tuesdays then. Now they are up a bit from that but still Tuesday is the day for DT! Burritos, tacos, quesadillas, combos, platters, churros, shakes, fries and burgers are suspects here. The fries and burgers are surprisingly good especially at a taco place. Shakes are good too. Sauces are yummers with my fav being Del Scorcho! Service can be meh to good. Many times mundane and no smiles. I guess it is hard to get positive about slangin' tacos for a jobby job. I had one kid a few years ago who was awesome, chatty and super nice. I guess he was a college kid who moved on as he is long gone now. Decided to come here because I had a coupon and it had been awhile since I have been to DT. First time to this location. Its still closed inside so we went to drive thru at 11am on a Saturday. We ordered and she asked us to park out front while they were preparing our food. It was a cold day so I parked in the sun directly across from the front door not the first row in front of the restaurant. We waited 15 mins and finally hubs went to go check and she says, "Oh I didn't see you parked there." Um there were only 3 cars in the ENITRE parking lot. They are somewhat secluded in their corner so it was obvious. Anyway, we sat in our cars to eat. NO napkins and NO utensils were in the bag. Had to go back in. Hubs ordered the Avocado burrito with steak. First 1/3 had no avocado in it but then found a hunk of hard unripened avo in the middle. Besides that the beans were undercooked and hard. Finally hubs says, "I can't eat this." I ordered the 8 layer burrito thinking there would be some kind of meat inside and nope there was not but there was a lovely piece of plastic in it! Dude your getting a del.....taco Having been always biased without trying for many years since we had a bell strong liking. We finally caved in and gave them a shot. Initially we were like why does a fast food chain for tacos and burritos have fries. Then after trying them, awww the lightbulb was on. Why not, they are crinkle cut one of the harder fries to find in restaurants & kids love em and kid adults too ;) Del has way more choices to offer and fresh cut ingredients in store. Not just RIP it open and pour into the dedicated spots for quick flip action on the assembly line. This location has been good on service and areas being pretty clean. Parking is plenty all around and has a drive thru window. My biggest like has been the fried fish tacos. A good piece of fish on them little corn tacos and loaded up with some pico and tartare sauce and a Wedge of lime. The price is great for the amount compared to restaurants offering the same. And the quality too. If your craving some Mexican food, fries, a burger even or just some appetizers or dessert, they have plenty of options for you and some good fresh ingredients too. read more

But the "Future of Protein" has invaded places like Del Taco and Carl's Jr and it's called Beyond Meat. Consider this over my 7ish visits. I had to clean my own table a few times. I watched a homeless man physically touch his water bottle directly to the drink dispenser spout. Witnessed a dog wearing a "service vest" (yes, in quotes for a reason) sitting on a chair. Yet still, 5-stars people! The food is just that good and worth overlooking some of the speed bumps along the journey to the future of protein. Will I Come Back Test? Yes and often. This is saying a lot since I haven't been to a Del Taco in about 25 years and ever since they partnered with Beyond, I've become a regular. Serve these items on plates with silverware wrapped in a linen napkin, you'd think you were at one of the more expensive restaurants that offer Beyond as a substitute. Yeah, you have to pay for the upgrade, but you don't have to tip. It's an upgrade: You can substitute Beyond for any menu item, but one location charges differently. Del Burrito (Grade A+) My go-to in the 80s was a Taco Bell, Double Beef Burrito. It had all the taste without the distraction of anything green. Taste buds have great memories and upon first bite, I was driving my faded blue 1984 Honda Accord through the drive-thru on my way back to 5th period. It is "beefy" and saucy. The fresh produce and generous amounts of sour cream make it a complete meal. Platos, (Sub Beyond) for Chicken Wet Burrito (Grade A): Perfect for dinnertime or anytime. Slow-cooked beans, pepper jack cheese, rolled in a warm flour tortilla and smothered in tangy green sauce, topped with more pepper jack cheese and 3 slices of fresh avocado. Bottom Line: Ignore the messy tables and open sauce packets on the floor and support the fact that Del Taco took the bold steps to partner with Beyond and give vegetarians options beyond bean burritos. OK, here's the thing. I totally get the fact that people need to take their breaks. Hubby & I came about 10PM in the drive-thru, but why both workers were on break?? Made us wait like 15 min to get to the windows. There was 1 car waiting around in front of us, and a car or two behind us. Then, when we got to the window, nothing was even ready for us. We waited another 15-20min. They apologize and everything, and was nice about it, but it just totally threw us off, because this was the closest Del Taco on our way back to the bay area. (Hubby was driving, not me.) I just wanted food to eat, while heading back, also because there's like no Del taco anywhere that I know of in the bay area. Maybe they need more workers in general at this location, but in the meantime, they need one or two out of their current workers, to help out with breaks. My husband spotted the "fiesta pack" on the menu, that had 5 bean/cheese burritos and 5 hard tacos. Good price for $13, and we shared. If you're hangry don't come to this deal taco because the customer service alone will ruin you're appetite. We went through the drive thru, we were rushed through our order. That's whatever but I forgot to order my churros due to being rushed so I wanted to add it at the window but guess what? You can't add anything on at the window . Mind you there wasn't a long line or a line at all behind us. lol. We pay and they girl tells us we have to pull up front for our order. I ask again since you're going to make me wait can I order churros even willing to pay cash. Was still told no so I told the girl I was just going to drive around again. I never complain or send back food but I went in and waited patiently in line. I told the girl who took my order that I needed the number 10 again and the reasoning.
