My husband and I went for a romantic long weekend and it was lovely. The building is a mixture of old and new and beautifully decorated. Our room was so large and the bathroom had an amazing two person tub and 3 head shower that we enjoyed very much. The room was filled with drinks and snacks so we did not have to go anywhere. We had dinner at the I.D. In the hotel and I highly recommend it. The atmosphere, food and dessert were amazing !!! We are definitely coming back! read more

PET FRIENDLY! My husband and I had stayed here once in 2011 or so, and I think one time before that. We remembered it being a nice hotel, so decided to stay here for a wedding in Waukesha instead of driving all the way back to Madison. We asked about bringing one of our dogs, as then we would only need someone to watch one of our dogs (only one travels well). They were all for bringing our pup, and just charged a $45 fee in addition to the room price - my last apartment charged me more than that per month, so fine by me! They also told us our pup would have some kind of "amenities" in the room as well. The hotel is beautiful with plenty of parking and for the most part is entirely wheelchair accessible (you have to enter on the side for zero-step entry). The only possible issue is that the shower is not wheelchair accessible, which did not matter to us for one night. It is very possible they have fully 100% accessible rooms, we just never asked because it did not matter for just the night. Also great that you get complimentary access to the fancy fitness club next door! Upon arrival, staff was very nice and our room was great. We got the "smaller/cheaper" of the room options, and it was still very spacious. There was a GIANT dog bed along with two little treats, a toy, and water/food bowls (thank goodness - we forgot bowls!). The dog bed was even comfortable for me to sit on! You could also purchase other dog items (it was their pet "mini bar" with a list of items and prices). The annoying part is that humans didn't get a list of prices for the mini bar. We looked all over the room to figure out prices, but never found them. Kind of annoying, but not the end of the world. We checked in before the wedding as I figured it would be fun to get ready in their big fancy bathroom. The shower was luxurious - had three body spray heads, a regular shower head, and a rain shower in the center. There is no bench/ledge to sit down or shave, though. Despite using all possible shower heads and sprays, the water stayed warm for me. The biggest problem was the lighting - there seemed to be two bright lights over the bathtub and the toilet, but using the mirror was a challenge. The sink did not have much room around it to put your stuff, which was not ideal, and seeing yourself in the mirror to put on makeup was impossible. There is a makeup mirror coming out of the wall, but still the lighting is just not good. The restaurant hours are not super convenient. We were there on a Saturday night, and the bar was open until midnight or later depending on crowds (not sure it's open that late on weekdays). However, they don't open until dinner time even on a weekend, so you're stuck having to leave the hotel if you want to sit down for breakfast. When I'm traveling, I like the ability to do everything in the hotel, so not having meals and bar service at a lot of hours is frustrating. We did have a door hang menu thing where we could order room service breakfast if we selected the time for delivery, but you could not select a specific time and I didn't really want room service. The bed was super comfy, but the pillows were horrendous. I'm not usually picky about my pillows, but your head went straight to the bed through the pillows no matter how you tried to fluff them. I would recommend bringing your own pillow. All that said, the hotel was great and I still give it 5 stars! We would absolutely return again, and I think our pup would too! It is certainly not cheap, but I think you (mostly) get what you pay for. I've had other fancy hotels that can loan you a hair straightener or curling iron if you forget yours, but there was no hair straightener to be had. Their lowest priced room was about $209, but for the occasional night away, it was great. read more

Beautiful place. Pricey but you expect that. Our room was terrific. ID was terrific. The front desk help was a complete head scratcher. We took a morning walk and when we returned we said "good morning" and they barely noticed us. They have a little complimentary coffee set up. It was 7:50AM and empty. We mentioned it and front desk guy said "we can make more if you want". We said yes please. 15 minutes later came back and saw no coffee. I inquired again and he said "it will take awhile". I finally went in to ID and paid $15 (including tip) for 2 paper cups of coffee. We enjoyed them outside and when we went back in there was still no coffee. All else was good but those guys up front did not provide customer service at all. Again, I'd still stay there because everything else was great. read more

I attended a holiday party here in their hall. The catering was eye pleasing and tasteful. The staff was personable and well organized. Noise is always a hard thing to control in a hall packed with people, so we did have to yell at the person sitting next to you when holding a conversation. I had a great time at this property. As someone who travels all of the time I loved this place. Room was amazingly spacious and I got to use the gym next door for free. Room was so clean with a HUGE shower that had a rain shower, and the one that sprays off the wall, I loved it. It also had a 2 person jacuzzi Tub that was amazing. They had Aveda products which was a huge plus. On site restaurant was good and its very walkable to others in the area. read more

Chaos Central! Charged for one night seven times incorrectly and then asked to pay for the correct 8th charge without being refunded the prior seven. Room was not allowed to go below 75 degrees, after calling the front desk was then allowed 74 degrees. The staff was very polite with very limited authority so therefore unable to fix anything. read more

Stayed here in late October 2022. Was NEVER told there was construction or remodeling going on. Was woken up by LOUD construction or remodeling noise on the floor above me. Called, front desk apologized but said there were necessary changes being made. Noise continued. Didn't even shower, just left. Front desk wouldn't comp my room or even a baseball hat. This hotel is nice at first glance, but upon further inspection, it's not that clean. The staff, average at best. I would say they were fine, but we spent $450/ night for the suite and no one even said "hello" to us. When I asked for advice about nearby national parks, the guy just said, "I'm sorry, but I have no idea"! We got married at the Delafield Hotel New Years Eve 2018. We also stayed at the hotel the night before and the night of the wedding. Having the wedding and reception in the same place we were staying was very convenient, as it cuts down on all of the shuttling people around that can make wedding day stressful, and the rooms were very nice for staying in and getting ready in. The Delafield Hotel was a great place to hold a wedding. Everyone was helpful in the planning process, and as we live out of state it was important to have people we could trust at the venue. We had about 130 guests, and there was plenty of room in the ballroom for the ceremony and reception, with a cocktail hour in the room next door as they flipped the room. The food was excellent. During the cocktail hour we especially loved the arancini hors d'ouevres and during dinner our options were the salmon and scallops, the stuffed chicken, and the sweet potato cakes and our guests were impressed with all of the options. The Delafield Hotel also made the cake for our wedding. I was very impressed by the pastry chef's ability to make the cake exactly like I wanted based on a picture and short description of what we wanted. It was also one of the best tasting wedding cakes that I can remember eating (we got chocolate cake with peanut butter filling.) As far as cost goes, while there are venues that are cheaper, it would be very hard to find a venue of this quality at a better price. With the entire event going smoothly, the food being great, and the hotel being a unique and beautiful place for a wedding. I would recommend this to anyone looking to get married in Southeastern Wisconsin. read more

So I needed to stay overnight around Delafield for a triathlon the next day, and seeing I was bringing the "very picky about hotels" girlfriend, I needed to book room somewhere that doesn't have "inn" or "motel" in the name. I finally settled on the Delafield hotel. Now I have stayed in some really nice hotels in NY, LA and Chicago, but this beats them all....by far. I booked the standard room but soon realized that it was far from standard...it was absolutely amazing! We were given a corner room with a bathroom the size of my old apartment. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept on. The bathroom was beyond belief...decked out in marble and granite was a large soaking tub for two (maybe three) and a shower with more nozzles and knobs than I knew what to do with. We will definitely be staying here again as it was well worth it. I just wish I stayed more than 1 night. read more

When my fam and I are looking for a hotel to stay at in the immediate (familial) area, I'm certain the Delafield Hotel can't be beat. Is it the most expensive? Yes, but... -It's the nicest, amenity wise. The suites are *sweet* with spacious bathrooms and gorgeous jacuzzi tubs (my 2 year old was obsessed with the bubbles and color changing lights). The beds are mighty comfy, and everything was super clean. -The mini bar was surprisingly affordable, as mini bars go. A candy bar for $2? Color me impressed. You can be snacky for a moderate price tag. -The food! The food, both from room service and Andrew's, was delightful and delicious. I gobbled down a sweet potato agnolotti that was out of this world. -The staff, from the servers at Andrew's to the bell people, were incredibly nice and accommodating. -It's really just a lovely, charming hotel situated in adorable downtown Delafield. My room was absolutely huge and we comfortably slept four. We had three tvs (one in the bathroom!), so I can't complain there. A friend's wedding was held here and I was really impressed with everything. While we did not stay in the hotel, my friends who did said the rooms were huge and nice. It's a really lovely space for a wedding with several rooms to use. After the ceremony in the main room, we all convened in a side room for cocktails and light appetizers while they changed the room over for the buffet. All of the staff were friendly and efficient. I was most impressed with the food and drinks. It was buffet style with two meat stations, a potato bar, and dessert bar. They served the best sweet potatoes I've ever had. And if that wasn't enough, staff regularly made the rounds with heavy appetizers that were all delicious, too. read more

My wife and I attended a weddding at a private home near Delafield, WI so I got on hotels.com and got a great rate at the Delafield hotel. We also were celbrating our Aniversay and the news that we were pregnant for the second time. The Room was supurb, the service was beyond impecable and the resturant was worth every penny. I disagree with the person who said the towels were bad, they were very nice in our room. Delafield is a sleepy little wisconsin town near a lot of lakes, very nice for kicking back and just relaxing. Here is the reason the hotel gets that fifth star. Seeing it was our aniversay I ordered flowers from 1800flowers.com (DON"T EVER USE THEM). I orderd them to be waiting with chocolates when we were to arrive to supprise her. Some how they found a way to screw up the order, so nothing was there when we arrived. After arguing with 1800flowersneverdelieversontimeoreverl I went down to the front desk and asked if she could put an order of flowers in with a local florist for a morning delievery and proceeded to explain my displesure with 1800....well you know...... We proceeded to grab dinner. At dinner up walked a friendly waitriss asking how things were going even though she wasn't ours. Next thing I know up walks a vase full of a dozen roses and a plate of chocolates. Turns out the front desk gal, Brianna, talked to the owner and then they proceded to track down some roses and chocolates. I was blown away, the hotel ended up saving the day. so basically to those giving a poor review, I challenge you to find many more hotels that would do anything remotely like this. read more

I've had the pleasure to stay in some great hotels when traveling, thanks to work and some really nice friends and family. This is one of the best- and I'm grateful for the conference I got to attend. :) Okay- first things first. This is in the middle of nowhere, but the nowhere is beautiful. Very lush and green, so it's strange that such a nice place is available. The room was gorgeous, comfortable and spacious. The ONLY complaint I have is that the bed posts are so large, that I FREAKING BROKE MY TOE ON IT WHEN GOING TO THE BATHROOM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. I'm not using hyperbole- I BROKE MY TOE!!!!!!!!!!!! Many expletives and two months of not running later, the little guy is healed up- but, I tell you what that bathroom is worth it! Awesome Jacuzzi tub and amazing multiple head shower, DANG- that right there almost made the whole trip. The bar downstairs is stocked with some great bourbons and scotch, which also helped numb the pain of mah toe. The place was spotless, quiet and the staff was so accommodating. If you don't mind staying a half hour out of Milwaukee when traveling- I would definitely recommend...if you can afford it. read more

Since my husband and I were getting married at St. John's in Delafield, we figured staying at the Delafield hotel would be perfect for us and our guests. It was close and beautiful. We set up our room block and made reservations for ourselves and bridal party for the night before the wedding. Everything was going fine until a few weeks before the wedding when we found out that rooms had been taken away from our room block and given to other people. Also, my sister was informed that her reservation for the night of the wedding had accidently been made for the night before, and all rooms at the hotel were booked. These weren't huge issues, and I got over them. However, the night before the wedding, I showed up with my bridal party to check into our room before the rehearsal began. With my dress in hand, I was informed that they had no record of any reservations for us and that the hotel was completely booked, even though I was sent a confirmation number and email months before. Furious, I left the hotel to attend the rehearsal while my sister stayed back to figure something out. Luckily, we were placed in a room, but had the same issue the following night when our other reservation mysteriously disappeared. When asked for a price adjustment on our rooms for all the issues, we were offered cookies instead. We agreed, and never received them. For such a nice hotel, you would think they could get their act together. Would definitely not recommend this hotel! read more

The Delafield could easily be rated a 5 star hotel with a couple improvements. First the positives: The staff: Incredibly helpful, friendly, thoughtful. This includes the room service staff who are fabulous. The bed: Very comfortable, choices of pillows. The shower: Great, multiple head, flexible hose shower head, rain shower head. Glass enclosed, not a curtain. Bathroom: Very large, double sinked, magnifying makeup mirror. Also has a TV which doesn't appeal to me, but might to some. The challenges: Room lighting: The only light in the room comes from a table lamp on the desk and one on the nightstand. Inadequate even during the day as the windows are very small, allowing in not much natural light. As an aside, the bulb in one lamp burned out my first night (and was promptly replaced), the second lamp's bulb burned out the next morning. Furnishings: Very dated. The desk chair is like a wooden dining room chair. Virtually impossible to do computer work sitting on it for very long. The TV: There's an extremely small TV and the only real places to watch it would be an easy chair or the bed. Either one is way too far away from the TV for a good viewing experience. Room service: The staff is wonderful. The food, however, is varied. My dinner entree (beef tenderloin sandwich) was quite good. The Caesar salad which accompanied it, was terrible...inedible. Sopped in dressing that wasn't typical Caesar salad dressing, made with some lettuce or greens that weren't romaine, and had two types of nuts in it. This should come off the menu! Breakfast the next morning was very good .... Coffee provided by room service is excellent; that from the little machine in the room,not so much. Overall, I would definitely stay here again as it is charming and the positive features well outweigh the challenges. read more

Ridiculously beautiful and fabulous hotel that is worth every penny. Beautiful décor, thoughtful design, perfect location, and amazing staff. High ceilings, modern bathrooms, posh sitting areas, and a high-end restaurant downstairs. Josh was kind enough to send a bottle of champagne to our room since my mother and I were here to attend her sister's funeral. We were too drunk to drink it because the folks at nearby Waterford winery (amazing selection and very reasonable) and "Belfre" restaurant were so good to us, too. We have fond memories of Delafield, and I personally can't wait to return to this hotel (from California) for a romantic trip. Pretty surrounding area with a combination of stately, turn of the century buildings and surrounding wilderness, a winding river; just peacefulness. Stayed here for the second time for our wedding anniversary. The rooms are beautiful and relaxing. When I booked the room, I specifically checked their COVID-19 protocols to make sure I was comfortable staying here. It said they were using enhanced cleaning protocols (not true unless you are only staying for one night, I guess) and requiring masks in public areas (not true, other than a sign in the lobby.) Complaint 1: On day one, we left the room at 11 am. I called the front desk and said we would be out of the room for a few hours, could housekeeping please come while we were gone? I was told they could. We returned to the room at 3 pm. Housekeeping had not been there. Called the front desk, asked if we left again, could housekeeping come by 4? Again I was told yes. when we returned at 4:25, the room had still not been cleaned. Asked to speak to a manager, was told there was not one on site. Explained my complaint to the desk staff, who said the housekeeping staff was very busy and they can't guarantee when they will come. Yet check in is at 3 pm, so all newly-occupied rooms should be clean by then, right? Isn't the housekeeping service part of the room rate? Also, if they can't guarantee a timeframe for housekeeping if you are an overnight guest, shouldn't that be communicated so we can plan accordingly? Complaint 2: There were multiple wedding parties at the hotel during our stay. Almost no one was wearing a mask in the lobby. I asked the front desk to confirm if masks were required in common areas? She said yes, but they can't enforce it. I told her I understand they can't force people to do it, but they could at least ASK people to put them on. Her response was, "that's not our job." I said it's not my job either, and I specifically chose this hotel based on the health protocols it said you were enforcing. At this point I was ready to leave and asked for my second night to be comped. I was told again by the very rude desk staff that they aren't allowed to comp anything but we could call the manager on Monday. To the manager: I will most definitely be calling you on Monday for a partial refund. To the owner: please don't advertise things that you aren't going to enforce or provide. We won't be returning, which is a shame because our first stay was lovely. read more

Stayed here for my anniversary. Probably the most beautiful, cool, unique hotel I've ever been inside. The bed was huge and comfortable and the bathroom... O.M.G. It had a gigantic bath tub with strong jets and bubbles. We both fit comfortably in the tub and honestly I could have stayed in there all night. The bathroom was also stocked with all Aveda products which is always a great touch, so after I got out of my bath I covered myself in Aveda lotion and got in bed. My body has never felt so relaxed. The room and dinner at the i.d. restaurant downstairs made this staycation literally the best hotel experience I've ever had in my life. I will recommend the Delafield Hotel to anyone that wants to get away for the weekend and relax. read more

Spoke with bride who told me she was very happy with facility as well. This is a beautiful hotel. Unfortunately I can't recommend it for two reasons. First, our room was very cold - they did bring a space heater which helped. Second, we were given room 211 on a Saturday night. At 2:15 am the pounding loud dance music from a wedding being held here still has not ended. This was for us a much needed getaway and opportunity for some downtime. Not being able to sleep or enjoy quiet time is extremely disappointing. read more

What a find. My wife and I got married in Wisconsin (we live in AZ) and needed a night away from family and friends. We randomly picked this place because it had a whirlpool tub in room. When we got there our jaw dropped, we have stayed at many nice hotels and for $169 for a night this place tops $250 a night rooms. We could not be happier with our stay. We got the suite and it had the shower with 4 jets and a rain spray, whirlpol was the most high tech one I have ever seen and bed was great! Exceptionally nice place to stay staffed by wonderful people. The room was very nice and large. They were a little behind the times in technology (a nice sound system that uses CDs and not MP3 players). Delafield is relatively convenient to Milwaukee so the hotel location was a reasonable compromise for our anniversary weekend that took us all over southeastern Wisconsin. We did not expect to eat in the restaurant (Andrew's), but the menu looked interesting and the chef was super accommodating -- she modified the coconut green curry tuna dish for my vegan diet, replacing the tuna with tofu and making a special curry sauce with no chicken stock. It was amazing. (I added a photo to show how good it looked and tasted.) My wife loved her pork chop too. We ate on the deck on a beautiful evening. The sun angle was a little low (in our faces a bit) and the sounds of I-94 detracted a little from the atmosphere, but the overall experience was super. We will go back if our schedule requires a stay in the Milwaukee area. We booked through Travelocity, which worked out well. read more
