YOU MAY NOT GET THE ROOM YOU PICKED OUT ON THE APP Be cautious that if you book a room on the app before arriving, they might try to put you in a different (worse/noisier) room when you get there, telling you the 'view' is better. This happened to us and I overheard it happening to someone else checking in. The room they chose to put us in was facing the street and extremely noisy. (Not worth the so called 'view'). After unpacking and getting ready for bed and trying to bear it, we decided to ask to switch rooms (to the room we'd originally booked on the app!) We packed up and moved to a room facing the alley, although it still had *some* street noise, it was much better. I think they try to put you in the 'unsellable' rooms in hopes that you'll stick with it. We still had to wear ear plugs and run the A/C at night to drown out some street noise. You might argue that any downtown hotel would have have street noise, but I don't think this older hotel has very good insulation. Read on for the PROS AND CONS... PROS ~Friendly, accommodating staff, really can't fault them. Kathy in the breakfast room is especially friendly. ~Decent location, walkable to the airport bus stop, Avis, Harley Davidson Museum, River Walk, Pabst Mansion. Most attractions were a 15-20 minute walk. For sights further by the lake (i.e. Milwaukee Art Museum), we took a ride share. It would have been more convenient to be closer to the waterfront, but this is reflected in the price. (Which I thought was still expensive!) ~They gave us some drink vouchers to use in the bar as we were celebrating an occasion. That was a nice touch and we enjoyed the atmosphere in the bar and the friendly bar tender. ~Clean. ~Daily housekeeping service. ~We paid for the breakfast buffet as part of our tariff, which was in a dining room with a buffet all but one day (a Monday) when they had us pick off the menu as there weren't enough people to warrant a buffet. Despite the buffet, waitstaff serve your drinks, so factor tip into the price. Try to get a table with Kathy serving you. ~Standard room amenities like iron/board, safe, decent shower, pump toiletries, large TV, mini fridge. ~Three elevators that always came quickly. CONS ~Noisy, especially if your room faces the main road. A lot of noisy motorbikes, sirens, people blaring music. The hotel can't help this, but it didn't seem like the windows were insulated very well, perhaps due to the fact it's an older hotel that's been renovated. I would not recommend staying here on this factor alone. ~Small bathroom. We like to both be in the bathroom getting ready in the morning -- one shaving while the other is putting on make-up, etc. The bathroom was definitely tight. ~When we checked into the first room they put us in (we later switched rooms), the A/C was soooo cold. We couldn't adjust it, so they sent a technician out to fix it. ~When we switched to a different room, the TV didn't work, so a technician was sent out to fix it the next day. ~Older hotel that's been renovated -- you can tell by the popcorn ceilings. ~No pool. ~Still quite expensive for the location/noisy rooms. ~Breakfast is not completely self serve, so tipping is expected. (They take you to a table, take your drink order and serve your drinks). ~Decor has been updated at some point, but is still a little dated. Helpful?

While the room was okay for the most part, there was a persistent vomit-like odor near the bed that wasn't resolved despite my request for cleaning. As a result, I had to sleep on the couch on the opposite side of the room and my work schedule made it inconvenient to request a new one. The bathroom was missing some basic amenities such as a soap dish, so I had to leave the bar soap on the counter. The shower's strong water pressure was really nice compared to the flow-restricted showers commonly found in California hotels. The staff experience was mixed. The night reception gentleman (working Monday through Thursday) provided outstanding customer service for his consistently warm and energetic greetings every time I passed. The night valet Martin also deserves special recognition for his outstanding service, sprinting to retrieve my car and showing remarkable attention to detail by noticing my night work schedule and trying to proactively have my car ready. However, the daytime valet service was disappointing. Two valets would unnecessarily retrieve my car together (Maybe one was shadowing the other). During these retrievals, one valet would sit on my belongings in the passenger seat (this happened multiple days). I later discovered after leaving Milwaukee that she damaged my glasses. Given the short distance to the garage, this practice seems unnecessary and showed a lack of respect for guest property. If they noticed stuff on the seat, they could've just walked back. For future improvement, I would suggest better attention to guests' personal belongings and a review of valet procedures.

We walked in and the hotel looked very early 1900s and there was something about that vibe that was pretty cool and unique. The place was packed for breakfast so we had to wait about 10 minutes and then we were seated at the breakfast bar. We were able to order our coffees pretty quickly and our food as well. I got a breakfast burrito and my wife got the plaza pleaser--eggs, pancake and bacon. As we sat there, I smelled something so good that my mouth started watering. Come to find out it was their hash browns. Not quite sure what made them smell so good; was it the butter? I don't know but it was so amazing. I almost wanted to order some to go with my burrito but it would have been way too much food. The burrito was great and had hash browns in it but I don't know if they were the same I saw. Overall the flavor was really good and the portion was huge--too big for me actually. My wife loved her food and the pancakes were great (I had to try a bite because....wife tax). Our service was amazing the entire time there and the guys working the grill---they deserve a raise. They were nonstop the whole time we were sitting there and everything they made looked wonderful. I love this for a breakfast spot but I realllllllly want those hash browns next time!

It's a historic hotel, so there are no elevators, something to keep in mind if you have a lot of luggage. The rooms and hallways were clean, and the property has a nice charm to it. There's also a café on-site that serves breakfast and lunch with plenty of seating, plus free coffee in the mornings and water in the evenings, which was a nice touch. The only downside is parking. You can use their paid lot or street parking, but both require planning since permits may be needed. Overall, I'd recommend this spot if you want to stay near downtown without being right in the middle of everything.

The carpet and couch cushions and sofa couch had no wear and tear whatsoever. The suite was extremely spacious with plenty of lights, usb outlets and a big screen tv. There is a full kitchen with a fridge, sink, dishwasher, microwave and the cabinets were well stocked with utensils, plates and bowls. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Other reviews about the breakfast here were not exaggerated. Had the best breakfast here as they use real eggs, quality of the meats and other offering were easily a step above what you get elsewhere and there was great variety. Meats included bacon, turkey sausage, vegan sausage and chorizo. There were bagels, biscuits, home fries, different types of bread, oatmeal and make your own waffle station. There were many different sauces and aiolis to use as well. I highly recommend this hotel and will be coming back. It's a short 10 minute drive to downtown Milwaukee and there's plenty of parking.

She recommended a local and close by tavern (Jacksons Blue Ribbon Inn) that had a shuttle service to the stadium. Absolutely would stay here again and it is also located very close to the Zoo if staying overnight when visiting.

Plus they don't have an on site bar or restaurant yet, so they offer a list of nearby spots, most of which require a short drive. But location aside, my room was very comfortable, with a good shower, good bed, and a nice couch near the entrance. The fitness center was nice; the usual equipment as other Bonvoy properties, but with more space and lots of natural light. For the price, I think this property was a good value!

It's in a very safe area, it's very quiet and the location is pretty good for getting to Milwaukee. Breakfast is your typical SpringHill breakfast but it is replenished often and very clean.
