This was our splurge hotel during a 30 day New England trip and it was so worth it. The hotel is pretty new to Mystic and located right next door to the Mystic Seaport Museum. Your accommodation includes entry to the entire museum as well. We opted for an upgraded King Room which overlooked the entire Mystic River. It was so beautiful. The room came with a decent breakfast each morning as well. We really want to call out Heather our incredible housekeeper as she figured out which coffee we liked and made sure it never ran out in our hotel room. THAT is what a quality hotel is all about, attention to details like that. We really enjoyed to nice neighborhood walk into town each day (a leisurely 15 mins) and seeing all the old homes along the way. Fortunately for us it was mid May and all the dogwoods and lilacs were in full bloom. The smell in the air was magical. There is a nice heated pool as well. The room itself was impeccable and modern and high end. We highly recommend this property. Since we were there in shoulder spring season and the hotel was already nearly sold out so if you're coming in the high summer season you should book well in advance.

non edible mushroom in potted plant....

Had high hopes. My adult son slept in the fold out bed with the gnat family that was nesting in the potted plant next to him. I had to ask for a blanket and the front desk person told me she would "have to look around and see if she could find one." She arrived at the room very grumpy that I was complaining holding a stained blanket that looked like it came from the Salvation Army. Being a new hotel.... why was the blanket so old???? Gnats everywhere in the room, the thermostat had a "change filter" message on it. Fungus and mushrooms were growing in the potted plant. The waterfront view is below and construction began demo on a house at 6AM. We spent one night rather than three and asked for our money back. I would not recommend this hotel.

I was here for a wedding. The room is beautiful. The food was delicious. Gail was our server and she was attentive and friendly. I really enjoyed her. The bar was spacious . The drinks were delicious. The view from our room was spectacular. I never knew this place existed. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed my stay!

We live in CT, an hour from Mystic and went for a short getaway at the newly opened Delamar. It was amazing! Although it's a bit pricey, it was worth every penny. The rooms are very nice, the pool is gorgeous and the staff are wonderful and accommodating. Valet parking was easy and the attendant was wonderful. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast that is included with your stay is a 10/10 and you should definitely take advantage of it! From eggs and bacon to pastries and yogurt, all delicious. The yogurt is homemade on site and the best yogurt I've ever had!! It's a must try! The restaurant for dinner was just ok and I wouldn't eat dinner there again as there are so many other places in town that are top notch with local seafood. The pool (4 ft deep) is relaxing with a beautiful view. Quiet, not many kids and they have comfortable lounge chairs. The bar is close by so you pop inside to the bar to order drinks to sit by the pool. It would be wonderful if they had pool side server to bring drinks to you but it was just a seconds away from pool so it was ok to go to bar yourself. Many areas of outdoor seating to relax and read a book or watch the boats go by if the pool is not your thing. Stop by the front desk for complimentary cold water with limes or bottled water. Although there were a few couples with infants I would not go there with toddlers. It's not a kid pool type atmosphere. Just my opinion The rooms are very clean and spacious. We had room 216 superior king and was fine for 3 people. We also had room 302 the Nina suite which had a balcony, view of pool and boats, an additional half bath and a sitting area and fireplace, can easily accommodate 4 if two are willing to sleep on pull out couch. Lovely getaway and will definitely be back!

We were able to see up the Mystic River from our room, which was so serene and enjoyable; perfect for enjoying a coffee or getting a little work done at the table, whatever your need is.

At over $615 per night, we expected a much better experience\. When we arrived, the toilet in our room was broken\. It took approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to repair, during which time we couldn't use the bathroom or shower before going out to dinner\. The bathtub also wasn't draining properly until we finally figured out a way to get it to drain ourselves\. In addition, the refrigerator wasn't cold on the first day\. We had actually called ahead to ask them to make sure it was turned on because we experienced the same issue during a previous stay\. The next day, we returned to the room to put our baby down for a nap and found contractors installing new carpet directly outside our door\. The constant hammering and nailing made it impossible for our baby to sleep\. We asked if the work could pause for just an hour, but we were told no\. The only solution offered was to move us to a much smaller room where the only bathroom was located inside the children's sleeping area, which wasn't a practical option for our family\. The staff offered us a bottle of wine as compensation, we declined\. We then asked if there was another way to make the situation right, such as adjusting our room rate, but the manager said no\. We've always enjoyed staying at The Whaler's Inn, which makes this experience particularly frustrating\. Maintenance issues can happen, but multiple room problems, disruptive construction during the day without accommodation, and the lack of a meaningful resolution left us feeling that the value did not match the price we paid\. We hope management will take this feedback seriously and improve the guest experience\.we will not be coming back . I do not recommend - the staff were SO RUDE

It also has a gas fireplace and central air. It's spacious and has a nice river view. It's quiet at night. And, of course, there's the Shipwright''s Daughter restaurant downstairs. I am absolutely obsessed with everything here. I made reservations for 5:45 pm on a Monday night…read more We actually came a little before 5:15 pm, because I was absolutely starving, and they were so kind/accommodating. They seated us right away! I love the vibes of the place, it's beautiful and inviting, but not pretentious. Our waitress was the best. She knew it was our anniversary and gave us a little bubbly to toast to. We also made it for happy hour (5 pm - 6 pm on weekdays, and 5 pm - 6 pm on weekends only at the bar)! All the small plates on the left side of the menu were half off! We immediately ordered drinks (the $10 happy hour cocktail - a blackberry bourbon smash for my husband, and a mocktail for me). We then ordered the shishito peppers, 2 of the pickled beet deviled eggs, and the roasted oysters with chili oil. They came out super fast, and it was delicious. The shishitos had that great char flavor along with a great dipping sauce. You can never go wrong with deviled eggs. Then we decided to order the fried oysters and the bread with corn butter. The fried oysters were the star of the small plates. Cooked so well. Freshly fried, you bite into it and it was juicy and delicious on the inside. Just so good. The bread and butter? Ugh, my dream butter and bread. Just so delicious. The butter was slightly sweet from the corn and had flakes of sea salt on tip, making it the perfect sweet and salty combo. We also got the salad (local produce!), and our waitress knew we were sharing ao she had the kitchen put it on 2 plates. Such a great touch. The salad was fantastic. After eating lobster rolls for a day, this was a much needed salad. It was refreshing, bright, and light! For our main entrees, we got the seared local squid and the strip steak. It was INCREDIBLE. Everything had so much flavor. The squid was cooked well, wasnt chewy. Just delicious. The crispy rice was the BEST THING I HAVE EVER EATEN. I wish we could order bowls of it. My husband finished it, couldn't get enough of it. The steak was fantastic as well. The potato with the bearnise sauce was so dreamy. The little onions on the steak, all the little touches were so well done. We knew we had to get dessert. We got a scoop of the black raspberry ice cream, a scoop of corn and blueberry swirl ice cream, and the lavender honey panna cotta. Guys. You 100% must get dessert. The corn blueberry ice cream was unreal. I dont know how you get all that flavor into ice cream. They dont skimp on the honey on the panna cotta. And it went so well with the more mild panna cotta. The black raspberry was a little icy because they froze whole blackberries in it, but at least you know they were trying to make sure you got blackberries in there. With happy hour, the bill wasn't too bad. This was hands down our favorite meal of our week long road trip. I can't wait to come back. I would 100% make a detour to eat here. Parking is pretty difficult around here. I would probably just Uber if I was coming here on a weekend. I need to come here for breakfast at some point.

I really didn't want to write this review, but potential patrons should know what they can expect…read morewhen working with the event staff at Shipwright's Daughter - if they plan to have a private dining experience and event there. My husband and I got married last December. We decided we would hold off on celebrating with our family and invite everyone out from California to join us for a weekend full of activities in Connecticut and a special dinner at Shipwright's Daughter during Memorial Day weekend. We contacted the restaurant's events team to work out high level details starting in late January - to book a private room and hold a date and time. From the get go, the communication we received from the event staff was dismal to say the least. Not only did the events manager misquote the estimate for the room reservation, she came back and asked for a much higher price (up charging by an additional 30% of the original minimum fee) two months after we confirmed and discussed the date. She then explained it was due to the holiday weekend. Our date had never changed from the moment we inquired, so we would have appreciated knowing this upfront. Over the course of several months (and an absurd number of emails and a few calls), we tried to solidify the menu and wine selection and made multiple attempts before hearing back from the team. It was about two weeks before the big event when we were able to confirm a menu. It was about four days before the event that we heard back from the beverage director, but by then, my husband and I had already decided we would bring our own wine bottles, not wanting to leave it to chance with this team. I won't go into further details about the frustration we felt regarding their system for communications (they use an internal system that doesn't make it easy for guests to know who is copied on emails and who sees what). That is something I hope they will work out. When the big day came, I walked into the room and noticed there were a number of chairs missing, so I counted the chairs. They had an incorrect number of chairs for adults and not enough high chairs for the toddlers. We had requested a specific number of these chairs (weeks prior and mentioned it multiple times in writing), and I thought it was safe to assume that this was a basic checklist item for events set up. I was dumbfounded in the moment. I couldn't help but wonder what else they were going to miss or mess up that evening. It was disappointing to have our family members wait while the staff scrambled to pull other chairs into the room. From the time it took to take everyone's order from the set menu, the time between courses being served, and the attentiveness for pouring water and wine - all of it was a miss. The level of hospitality that we expected from a restaurant so recognized for its incredible food and approach to sustainable sourcing was completely overshadowed by the lack of attention and care by its staff - since day one of planning this event. Even a few of our family members commented on this during the dinner. At the end of the day, we felt like an obligation rather than welcomed guests, and that is mainly why I'm leaving this review. We had been patrons of Shipwright's a couple of times prior to this event, which is why we chose this establishment - to represent the best that Connecticut has to offer, when it comes to a dining experience we could vouch for. We no longer feel that we can recommend this restaurant. If you care about hospitality, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
