For pub food in the middle of a college town, this place was absolutely amazing. We ordered the grilled pork chop with mashed potatoes and broccolini, and it was outstanding. The pork chop was cooked perfectly, flavorful, and one of the best meals we've had on this trip. What really made the experience even better was the service. Our bartender was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. From the moment we walked in, we felt right at home. Great food, great drinks, and great hospitality. We went on a Thursday night during the outdoor concert/festival, so we sat outside and didn't really get to experience the inside of the pub. It was definitely crowded, but the host did a good job getting us seated pretty quickly, and our waitress was great about keeping up with our table even with everything going on. I had margaritas, which were okay. I would say this is definitely more of a beer, shots and simple drinks kind of place versus somewhere I'd go specifically for cocktails. I had heard the food was really good, so I decided to try an actual meal instead of just bar bites. I got the pork chop with cabbage and mashed potatoes. The pork chop was heavily soaked in vinegar, which was surprising and just not something I've had before. The cabbage also came out cold. The mashed potatoes were good though. I would definitely come back, especially for the Thursday night atmosphere, but next time I'm sticking with drinks, wings, mozzarella sticks and the regular bar food. If you're there for the food and not the entertainment it can feel painfully loud and fate seems to always aim us right next to the stage on those days. That said, it's a warm place and you kind of want to camp there even if you're just an observer. Lots of dark wood, and kitsch and room to roam with a strong Irish vibe. The talent I've seen so far has been pretty impressive, the trivia night, a little chaotic but entertianing. But... The food... I have yet to find comparable fish and chips even at places that focus on fish and chips as their main bragging point. The Shepard's pie, pinnacle of comfort food. Cajun pasta, a sauce there is not enough provided of even if it were by the gallon...and the fried cheese curds? This is a must get. Mix it with a Killian's or a Fat tire and I'm set. read more

I've always enjoyed this pub, but yesterday i went for a birthday dinner with my wife. The bar was great but the food was terrible. Usually the food is what we come for, but i guess the chef had a very bad night, The fish and chips were cooked in old burnt oil ,wings were cooked in that same way, and the steak was like eating leather. They took it back and i ordered wings to go, big mistake. The wings were cooked in that old burnt oil. After spending $210 we will think hard on comming back. read more

Tasty Food, Great Vibes, and Wonderful Service at Delaney's Irish Pub! We stopped by Delaney's for Saturday lunch and had such a great experience from start to finish. It was our first time there. Our server, Abigail E., was incredibly helpful and friendly -- she guided us through the menu and made great recommendations. We sat outside, which was perfect for relaxing and doing a little squirrel and people-watching while we enjoyed our meal. (Yes, squirrels, they have friendly "resident" squirrels that approach the tables with hopes of getting some food!) To start, we had a Mimosa and a Margarita made with Patrón Silver tequila-- a fun and refreshing twist. The Irish nachos were a flavorful and satisfying appetizer. For lunch, we went with the Belfast Breakfast Burger and the Dubliner Sandwich with fries -- both were delicious and just the right portion size. We finished things off with a warm chocolate chunk cookie, which was the perfect sweet ending. Between the tasty food, laid-back atmosphere, and excellent service, we had a wonderful time. Food is really good, but the live music ruins the entire experience. You can't hear conversations no matter how loud you yell or how close you sit. Over the top and obnoxious. Loud Good. I hope this gets resolved or the musicians actually take it down a notch. read more

The Beef Limerick was amazing and well worth the price! Meat was tender and sauce was delicious. Carrots were so tender! Also had the fish and chips which really delicious and filling. Went out looking for live music and found great food too! Hostess was very helpful and allowed us to move after we were seated. I had a Ruben sandwich that was just perfect and so large that I took half home. My wife ordered a steak sandwich and also took half home. Nice crowd and the downtown location was very inviting. Parking was not impossible. It took me 2 trips around the block but I was able to find parking on the same block as the restaurant. Definitely going back here. read more

What went wrong here today? NOTHING! What went right here today? EVERYTHING! Fantastic five star performance! This was my first pimento cheese burger ever. I'd never tried one before because I'm not partial to pimento cheese. Not the same thing at all! This stuff was melted and generously poured over my burger! So Tasty! Staff was friendly and we ordered our drinks. Menu is wide that everyone should be able to find something. We ordered the fish and chips. Definitely enough to share. We got 2 large filets with steak fries and a side order of coleslaw. My issue was.... though the fish was cooked properly, the crust was crispy outside but quite soggy on the inside. Actually doughy. A legit Irish Pub based on visits to other Irish pubs I've frequented over the years, most notably the James Joyce Irish Pub in Ybor City, Florida. During our visit, we walked into a dining room filled with regulars in for the lunch hour dining period. When you see patrons smiling, sipping, and enjoying their food and friends it adds to the experience of any dining event. It could have been a happy hour but it was just after noon that day. We usually sit at the bar when we visit a new place we've read or been told about. The bartenders can, and usually, drive the experience (good or bad) and it illuminates how well things will go during a visit. A legit Irish pub can turn out a great Rueben, Shepard's Pie, or Bangers and Mash - I measure Irish pubs on this, as well as the beer selection. That day I enjoyed a delicious Rueben and had 44 taps to choose from. The bartenders were very observant and noticed empty plates, glasses, etc. as did the servers. Service is always a deal-breaker for me sometimes, I really don't like staring at an empty dish or beer glass. For me, those moments are when the bar/pub/restaurant has an opportunity to check on patrons, sell another drink or dessert - a missed opportunity. The bartenders were on point that day. We visit the Greenville, SC area often and given downtown Spartanburg's rich music history, building architectures, and what appears to be a revitalization of downtown, we'll be back to visit - and Delaney's will be the first food stop. read more

Visited Delaney's on Friday early evening and the food, service and atmosphere was awesome. Our server, Taylor was knowledgeable about our food order, friendly and super enthusiastic about us having a good time. She provided info on our food choices to include dessert and checked in with us regularly. I'm a HUGE Steeler fan so the memorabilia was awesome and hopefully a few more pieces will be added since the team will be visiting Ireland this season - Go Steelers! Overall GREAT experience and we will return - hamburger, patty melt, pimento burger and brat were delicious along with the sweet peanut butter pie and chocolate silk pie. Not sure where all the negativity comes from in certain reviews. I try to read prior to going to be on the lookout for some things, positive and negative. Overall, this place is a find and I will be back next time I'm in the area. Nice beer selection, including some of their own made by different local breweries. A nice touch and the two I tried were spot on. I also liked the extensive selection was available both on electronic boards and via Untapped. Nothing is worse than a bartender or server rattling off 20+ beers. They also have an impressive selection of bourbon, Irish Whiskey and Scotch, including some hard to find ones. They are also reasonably priced given today's market. I tried the Delaney's select and enjoyed it. Looking forward to exploring more next time. Food is also good. It's better than average pub food, including the beef limerick. Next time I may try the whiskey glazed steak. Looked good. Service at the bar was great. I sat near the service area and some servers seemed awesome with their customers and others seemed to want to be anywhere but there.
