Chicken, bacon and avocado on ciabatta

The Lunchbox. Such a sweet little place for lunch! Menu has a lot of nice choices. The sliced chicken on ciabatta with bacon and avocado with pesto mayo was so good! Normally I wouldn't eat all of the bread, but this was so soft and fresh I ate every bite. My friend is hooked on the grilled chicken salad with apples and goat cheese. Fresh quiche and soup choices available each day. Save room for the homemade desserts! Super friendly and welcoming, and prices are reasonable. It's a small place so get there early for a table. There are also some tables outside for when it's a bit warmer.

Great lunch spot in Simpsonville! The Lunchbox changed owners and the menu has been updated to serve upgraded lunch items. Sandwiches, salads, and soups dominate the menu but are done very well. The owner is a pastry chef and walks around with the cake of the day. I wish I'd known that going in so I could save room. The hot chicken salad was the only thing I wasn't a huge fan of but it's very unique. It's what they are known for but for me it wasn't the highlight. I almost skipped the split pea soup which was the soup of the day but I'm glad I didn't. It was full of flavor and the small bits of crouton on the top complimented it beautifully. I had the ham and Brie croissant which was really enjoyable but the peach relish was labeled spicy. I think it needed the heat to cut through some of the richness but it wasn't spicy at all. It was still really great. Oddly my favorite was the pickled okra served on the side. Adding this to the appetizers would be a great addition! Service was spectacular. There is No in May one server and the owner at the front. You would have never known one person was waiting on 10 or so groups at one time. Everyone was so friendly and helpful understanding the menu. The restaurant itself is setup well with a few outdoor tables as well. Give it a try!

We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon at 12:00 PM--perhaps a bit early for live music or games. Nonetheless, we found a full bar, a classic American menu, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. Located on Woodruff Rd in the Five Forks area, Bullwinkle's is situated directly across from Publix and behind a strip center, literally occupying the ground floor of a Great Spaces Storage building. Parking here is plentiful. The decor reflects the typical vibe of a sports bar/restaurant, with TVs mounted throughout, all tuned into a variety of sports. During our visit, college football, golf, soccer, and baseball were all on display, with the Manchester vs. Chelsea soccer match attracting a notable crowd. While the restaurant is one large space, its layout allows guests to find tables or seating areas that offer a sense of privacy. The menu includes all the expected favorites: pizza, calzones, wings, burgers, and a diverse selection of other items. The pizza is particularly popular, and they boast an extensive craft beer list. Our server was busy but attentive, and the food was quite good--though I would suggest cooking the wings a bit longer for optimal flavor. Although Bullwinkle's is a little off the beaten path, it's definitely worth a visit!

My girlfriends and I went for girls night, and I loved how the place was packed with women. Such a cool idea. We got the rosemary beignets, and they were really good. Loved the butter that came with it too, and the parm. Very tasty. I had the half chicken, and it was maybe the best chicken I have ever had. Seriously, I know what I am ordering next time, and the time after, because it was so good. I didn't enjoy the sides as much. I had the pomme puree and the roasted vegetables. It's strange that the mashed potatoes were flavorless and mealy, and the veggies were meh. That said, the chicken was awesome, and I will come back for that alone.

Friday night we had a 5:45 reservation since that was what we could get on Open Table or a much later option. Turns out that this was a good choice because we got a nice 4 top for the two of us in a corner, so minimal "neighbors." Our order beat the kitchen rush. We saw the kitchen rush happen as the 6:00 reservations began to fill the restaurant. Service and hospitality was excellent. We continue to enjoy the evergreen, outdoor, theme brought indoors. We wanted to try some new things and have some familiar things. Our start was the chopped Caesar Salad, which has chopped fried anchovies as a unique way to include this into the salad as well as breadcrumbs rather than larger croutons (not grainy crumbs, but smaller than croutons) and this is quite sharable. Or, could be an entree with an added protein. We shared a steak tartare - classic and excellent, a Farmers board of meat, cheeses, jams, etc. and the full head of Roasted Cauliflower with a spiced yogurt sauce that was accompanied by our choices of fries and mixed steamed vegetables (green beans, asparagus, carrots). All of this was fantastic, with the star being the surprising roasted cauliflower dish. One glass of wine and that came to $119 ($150 with Christmas tip). The watch out here is two-fold. Most dishes are intentionally shareable by theme of the restaurant and the glass of wine is gonna run $15-$20 for an 8 ounce pour. So, we came back Sunday with one of our sons and his girlfriend to celebrate Christmas with her as this is a great gluten free restaurant and has become her favorite too. Sunday was less stellar, except for the service, which was on yeoman's duty and was outstanding, especially considering they were 7 staff down due to illness. We were greeted promptly for our 12:45 reservation and it took 5-7 minutes to get our table due to it being packed out and short staffed. Winds up that Anna, the manager, wound up waiting on us. I commend her for the good communication of her staffing predicament without making it a complaint or an excuse, because they delivered. We had our drink order and lunch order placed by 1:00 and drinks arrived at 1:07, shared Caesar arrived at 1:15 and meals at 1:33pm. I noted the time because they were doing a great job on managing the overall situation. We were out of there comfortably by 1:55, easy and well taken care of. My wife & son got the usual Reuben which is the current front runner in town. The girlfriend got an apple oriented salad without the praline pecans since they are not gluten free. Unfortunately, she did find three morsels of pecans, but they were avoided and due to the circumstances, we were not going to mention it - but here - just watch it if you are sensitive. I had the chicken and waffles with jam and maple syrup and the sunny side egg. This was only okay. I am quite sure what the chef intended and what I received were two different executions. The egg was perfection. The chicken was tasty, but not juicy and a bit tough (if Zaxby's is out executing here, there is a problem). The waffle was not tender at all and was almost too hard to cut with the provided butter knife, which then made the jam and syrup portion to be inadequate to overcome the waffle texture and flavor. With a fresher waffle, a bit more on the jam and syrup, this would have notched up, there is just a ratio thing there. I did have about half of the dish as carry home, but not sure if it will be eaten. I would not hold this against the restaurant though, just noting that a rush and short staff might have some unintended consequences. All in all, with a couple of brunch martini;s and a couple of bloody Mary's, the bill was $150 with tip $180 because it is Christmas and the staff and Anna did a banger job.

I was just about to give up and go somewhere else when a spot opened. We were a group of 10 and were the 6th and 7th to arrive. Came in and sat down and it was a good 15 minutes before our server appeared for drink orders. They had a really good stout on draft so I ordered that and the alligator bites. It was another 15/20 minute before our server came back to inform me the keg blew and that beer wasn't available. So water it was. The alligator bites were not horrible, but weren't great either. Very bland and the breading was.....not crunchy. It was almost like they were microwaved and not cooked long enough. I went with the double bacon burger and fries, which was a $0.99 upsell from the house chips that comes with the burger. Two big thick patties with cheese and bacon. Pretty good burger. Not the best I've ever had but not the worst either. As for the ambience, good luck having a conversation. The place is open and loud. The actual restaurant is fairly small but it's part of a larger area. Think of a food court in a mall. Very hard to have a conversation due to all the noise. And people wondering in and sitting down without checking in, taking wait staff away from their other tables. Overall, I wasn't impressed. But, like I said, the area prom had a lot more people out than a normal Friday night, so I will return again for another meal.

She texted me stating she walked down to Shortfields as she's been here before with a group in the past and we can eat here. Ironically I have also eaten here only once before but at least two years ago and with a different group. She knew exactly what she was going to order the fish taco. I think she had fries. I finally decided on a burger, the one with mushrooms, onions, and provolone cheese. And chose tator tots as my side. The burger with its toppings were good. The tator tots were crispy like the way I like it but it was a tad bit salty. She said her fish tacos weren't that good. There were three of them, and they looked to be filled quite well. But she said there was an abundance of sauce, the flavor over powering the fish itself, and leaking out her tacos and on to her plate with each bite. She shared this to me throughout but never to our waitress, though she knows I do yelp. This place is casual and it does have a separate area that could host a group. Because it's December, it was decorated for Christmas so nice and comfy. I thought the service was good. I came from the fitness center and had my own large water bottle, but she (I forgot her name) was great about providing me more water. I liked how at the beginning she asked if ready to give our orders and sharing what the sides are, checking up midway, and not intrusive. Because the lunch shift was ending and thus hers, I already had my card with the bill but she still asked if it's okay to take it to charge it. The food for me was fine. The burger was good but wouldn't be something I would have to return for. I actually didn't finish my toys but brought it home and my son finished it off. Though my friend complained about hers, she ate all three of her tacos and the sides so must have been good enough to eat My experience was a bit mixed mainly due to my friend's attitude but then again I would not have come here on my own. I could see how some people may become regulars though I wouldn't because it's a bit farther from where I live, I personally would have wanted more vegetables yet the service, casual yet comfy ambience would be the pro side. (Not sure what happened to the photos I took of my plate and my friends taco. If I find it, I'll post it later).
