We hired Mary's Touch Moving to pack up two large PODS that we needed to move from Ocean View, DE…read moreto Concord, NC. We weren't there to oversee the packing and weren't totally sure what to expect. The crew finished packing up the PODS more thank two hours sooner than we anticipated (literally saving us hundreds of dollars). Our things were in storage for over a month and the PODS were just delivered and unloaded. I need to give credit where it's due. The PODS were packed SO well! Everything was wrapped and padded perfectly and nothing broke (even the fragile things that were barely unbroken when they were loaded). I am honestly so impressed. We have moved numerous times and this was our best experience with a moving company.

Got a call that day to make sure things were going well and another call when the packing was completed. Next day 4 people showed up to load the truck and move us 3 miles away. Very hard workers, professional and experienced. Got the two calls again that day. They were very careful when unloading, asked where I wanted things placed. As I started to unpack, I found a lamp shade at the bottom of a box, all crushed. Was quite amazed at what I found in the boxes.. I would assume like items would be packed together....but it appeared they just made sure the boxes were full. Many boxes not labeled, which would have been helpful. Never did get another phone call, which to me should have happened so they would find out how the team packs out a custome.

It took 4 hours with previous movers. These guys took 6 hours to move and then charged me travel time to get to the job at 1.5 hours; so 7.5 total hours charged. Previous movers did not charge me to travel to the job. And, I didn't learn that I was paying for travel until the end of the move. Their hourly rate is $160 hour. Buyer be aware. PS- they also charge a 4% fee for using a credit card to pay. Again, wasn't aware of that until it was time to pay.

He worked with me to schedule a time which was actually earlier than I had asked for, which was better for both of us. He arrived early, and began right on time with two of his assistants. They emptied a very-full 20-foot truck in two hours, which was the time we had agreed upon. Some of the items were extremely heavy and needed to go down a flight of stairs, but they never complained and got everything exactly where I needed it without hitting any of the walls. First, the boys assigned to do the move (from Millville to Middletown DE) were fine. There was…read moresome damage done, to which I filed a claim for with this company however, I have not heard a peep from them. Regardless, my first estimate from a video tour with Mason was for less than $4,600.00. About an hour into the move, I got a call from Matt who advised that I needed a 5th man...although it would cost more, it really wouldn't since it would be less time to do the job. About an hour or two later, I was called by Mason who said that the 5th guy increased the cost by $900.00 to $5,500.00. I reluctantly agreed. Next, a sixth man was provided without any authority by me or any notice from Black Tie Moving. After the move, which took about 10 hours, at close out, I got an invoice for $7,800.00+ and a credit card charge of $7,445.19. I spoke with Black Tie (Mason) and I offered to pay $6,200.00. They advised they would come down by $300.00 but refused to negotiate further. Long story short, after disputing the charges on my credit card, I am compelled to pay the entire amount based on their shady dealings and contract of adhesion. So, in review, there was an original estimate of $4,600.00 turned into $7,445.19. I strongly suggest after reading this review, stay clear of this company, unless you realize that you will be paying about $3,000.00 more than the estimate they give you.
