I ordered the orange martini and asked if it was sweet - server said no... it came a couple mins later not full and extremely sweet. I asked her to pls fill the martini glass and use vodka to cut the sweet. Came back as palatable, albeit still sweet. Lunch came and the gumbo was excellent! Wife's shrimp po boy was on a bun, not a roll as expected, and was meh... lacked flavor. Still acceptable and came with an order of fries that was great. When the bill came I noticed the martini (14$) was on the bill as expected, but also had an addl 8$ for an extra shot. I asked what this was for and she said she added more Tito's, so I was charged. So now we have one full Tito's martini (still over sweet) for 22$. Wish I would have just returned the shitty drink and ordered a beer. When no bartender at place and servers need to make drinks this shit happens. Dumb move as we'll not ever go back. Lesson learned. Food is good, but stick with beer in this place.

Pasta and sauce were fresh and great! Not too thick or thin. Only request is to have another cheese option for the lobster grilled cheese. Over the years, it has consistently delivered a wonderful, unique atmosphere that makes every visit feel a little more memorable than your typical meal out. There's a charm to it that keeps you coming back. Their brunch is absolutely fabulous, offering a wide variety of choices that make it hard to pick just one favorite. Whether you're in the mood for something classic or a bit more creative, there's truly something for everyone. One of the things we appreciate most is how accommodating they are. We've dined there with groups of all sizes, and they handle large parties with ease while still making everyone feel welcomed and well taken care of. Overall, Kafe Kokopelli is a gem in Dade City--consistently great food, a warm atmosphere, and service that makes you feel right at home. Highly recommended.

Serving size is a bit much, but hey lunch for tomorrow! It's the place to go to for Margs. The chips are fine. The service is fast, friendly, and done with purpose, which really adds to the experience. The restaurant itself is well cared for and beautifully decorated with traditional Mexican touches that make it feel warm and inviting. It's the perfect place to relax and enjoy some truly awesome food. In my opinion, it's authentic Mexican cuisine with a hint of Tex-Mex flair. We both ordered sopes which was our fave here. I ordered one, and my husband ordered the sopes platter with two sopes, rice, & beans, I took his beans with my single sopes. This time the steak tasted different and the flavor wasn't all there. It was ok but definitely have had better ones now. They use to include guacamole too. That's long gone. We ordered a horchata and pineapple agua frescas. Of course these are more expensive and much smaller now. Service was ok but difficult to locate our server. It wasn't too busy either bc it was early in the week. Not sure if we will be back here much. Now I still want more sopes bc this one didn't fill my taste buds for it. Ambiance was loud and echoey with two parties. With a full house, wow bring your headphones bc it will be super intensely loud in case you have sensitive ears like me.

It's cafeteria style with pricing by the number of "mains" and sides you choose. We both selected fried chicken and it crispy, seasoned just right and juicy. The sides were plentiful. I chose squash casserole and Mac & cheese. My sister took mashed potatoes/gravy and buttered corn. All good. Price for entree, two sides, buttered roll and drink under $20. Place was busy at 12:40 PM but ample seating. Attentive staff checked on us frequently and provided to go drinks. Definitely would eat here again.

It's a black owned business, with a predominately brown staff, and a lot of white patrons. This becomes relevant later in the review. For a while, we were regulars and always got along with everyone in the restaurant. My wife swore they had the best fried chicken in town! As a retired Army War Veteran, I often wear patriotic t-shirts. I have a few t's that display my support for the US Flag and the Veterans who died to defend Her. One day, this did not seem to sit well with the black management; as the Colin Kaepernick incident was still fresh in the minds of most black Americans. The black gentleman who manages the restaurant wasn't his usual jovial self after he saw my t-shirt. After a few visits, I felt a bit unwelcomed only by the black staff. No one else changed. The Black Eyed Pea became my new top restaurant for southern food, but my wife still loved Steph's. So, we continued to go there occasionally, but not as often. After a while, the manager seemed to have returned to his old self and was friendly and joking with us again. After Steph's temporarily closed to give the staff a well-deserved vacation, we started to return as regular customers again. Unfortunately, while eating a bowl of collard greens, a piece of the metal mesh they used to strain the greens got lodged into my gums. This scared my wife as she thought I was choking. I was able to remove the metal wire and I reported it to the manager. He did apologize and recognized that it was from one of his strainers. His final statement to me was "Thank you for understanding." No removal of the contaminated food tray from the line. No replacement side. No complimentary dessert. No refund or discount. At that point, my wife was angry! There are a lot of elderly people who eat there. If one of them had swallowed that wire and was injured, Steph's would have ended up getting sued. Luck was on their side with me not pursuing the matter, but their lack of gratitude and their unwillingness to correct their error got them on my wife's bad side. And we haven't returned since.

For service, you order at the counter, they do bring your food to you, and you don't have to bus your table (I don't think)...I wasn't sure as I looked around for trash bins, so I asked the kind people at a nearby how to do that and they said that the restaurant does it. It was very very quick service which was great. Ambiance...It's clean, there's lots of parking, the servers are nice. The location is great. Exiting is a bit weird on the north of the building. If you're looking for old style (no pun intended - bare bones) traditional bbq with Cole slaw, baked beans, Mac and cheese, baked potato, cabbage/bacon, slices of plain bread, carrot cake, banana pudding, or ice cream, then you'll love it. Is it good, yes. Is it for me, eh, I don't think so. Will I give it another chance? Maybe, if someone I know loves it here, I will come with them. If it's just me, and given other choices in the area, probably not; I'm sorry. There just isn't enough choices for me to make it worth while, and that's okay; Timmy Jons BBQ is just...different and that makes it great.
