I'm so glad I was able to try Timmy Jon's! If you are a BBQ fan, this spot is for you. I was able to try the pulled pork, brisket, and jalapeño & cheddar sausage all in my first visit as I shared food with my partner in crime. We had incredible service with our waitress even bringing out a sample of their armadillo eggs to try! And of course we had to order a palmetto bug to try bc it is the same thing but with pimento cheese instead of cream cheese. Both were spot on and I highly recommend trying if you've never had these BBQ delicacies! Also I was lucky enough to try the carrot cake and it is literally the best I've ever had! Pulled pork was great. The baked beans were a bit spicy and a little unexpected. The sides options, if you're a picky person, are not that great (I get it I'm picky and I eat like a toddler). For service, you order at the counter, they do bring your food to you, and you don't have to bus your table (I don't think)...I wasn't sure as I looked around for trash bins, so I asked the kind people at a nearby how to do that and they said that the restaurant does it. It was very very quick service which was great. Ambiance...It's clean, there's lots of parking, the servers are nice. The location is great. Exiting is a bit weird on the north of the building. If you're looking for old style (no pun intended - bare bones) traditional bbq with Cole slaw, baked beans, Mac and cheese, baked potato, cabbage/bacon, slices of plain bread, carrot cake, banana pudding, or ice cream, then you'll love it. Is it good, yes. Is it for me, eh, I don't think so. Will I give it another chance? Maybe, if someone I know loves it here, I will come with them. If it's just me, and given other choices in the area, probably not; I'm sorry. First of all this is a hidden gem and definitely worth the drive. The customer service was outstanding !!! This is a family environment. It's nicely set up and relaxed with coloring for the kids and a foosball table. Now the food.... So tender !!! We ordered the ribs, pulled pork, sausage , chicken. We did a pick up order. The Brisket was super tough and chewy. The Pulled pork was "ok" and the Sauce they provide is bland/not great. It could have been a bad day but the meat was really dry and not remarkable at all. However; they redeemed themselves on their sides to make up for everything. Lots of options. Wow- what a treat it was to discover this place. There were 6 of us and the service was great. Lots of refilled drinks: half and half and good lemonade. Not one of us complained about the food. The sides were good : coleslaw, beans, fried cabbage, sweet potato casserole, corn casserole et. We ordered a Palmetto bug which is sausage stuffed with pimento and jalapeño. Excellent and different. I am a huge barbecue fan and was pleasantly surprised to find such amazingly authentic bbq while passing through Dade City on our way to Tampa. The brisket was by far the best I have had. Perfect texture and flavor from the nicely sliced, well portioned beef. I love the smokey hickory flavor on the ribs and pulled pork. It is well complimented by the seasoning. The armadillo eggs are something everyone needs to try! My wife had an insanely sized loaded baked potato that could easily feed 2 people. There is a wide variety of authentic Southern sides to complement the variety of delicious meats. The desserts looked awesome, but I couldn't dream of taking another bite after sampling all of this amazing food. I highly recommend stopping in Timmy Jon's BBQ. I've had BBQ in California, St Louis, Memphis, Virginia,and Texas and I can say without question that Timmy Jons BBQ is at least comparable to my favorites in any of those places.
