Manny and his crew were great! We had cross-town move in LA and our old townhome had lots of stairs to navigate and tons of boxes and artwork to move, but they guys handled everything like champs. A lot of movers are flaky or will rip you off but not Delfin. Manny is a solid dude and he gave us a fair price, even came back the next day with a smaller truck at no charge to pick up a few extra items. Manny and his team are terrific! They recently moved us from Van Nuys to Burbank, and did a bang-up job (without banging up any of our possessions!). The price was quite reasonable, and even though they had to come back a second day to get the last of our things, they didn't charge us more. It cost $2600 to hire Delfin to move a 1 bedroom apartment 7 miles. WTF? Read on... Short version: Delfin Moving is not a legitimate company. If anything goes wrong during the move you will be screwed. They will refuse to pay for the damages they are responsible for, they will ignore your calls and emails, and if confronted they will lie. Delfin damaged a $1600 mirror in the common area of my building First they denied it. When confronted by proof they lied and told me their insurance would cover it. They then avoided all my attempts to contract them for a solid month. When I finally got through to Manny he would not negotiate a fair settlement and dared me to sue him. In the end his negligence and unprofessionalism cost me an additional $1600. Buyer beware. Full version: My wife and I were moving from a 1 bedroom apartment into a 2 bedroom condo roughly 7 miles away. We had asked our friends if they had any recommendations for movers and they suggested Delfin. I went with their suggestion and called them without doing any prior research. Big mistake. When I called Manny (the owner) I found it odd at the time that he screens all of his calls but later on it became clear why he does this. On the day of the move he showed up with 3 other guys and they began moving everything. I drove ahead to the new place and took pictures just to document the condition of everything before the move. After about an hour or so of moving into the new place I came down the elevator and immediately saw that one of the huge floor to ceiling mirrors in front of the elevator had been smashed. I found Manny and let him know. Manny: "That must have been like that before" Me: "No. That was definitely not like that before. Look, here's a photo." The photo clearly showed that the mirror was perfectly fine before the move. Manny told me he would talk to his crew and find out what happened but not to worry because he had insurance. Late in the evening when the move was finishing I again spoke to Manny about the broken mirror in the common area. This time his "assistant" swooped in and repeated that the insurance policy would cover everything. Manny then gave me his invoice where he had added 2 additional hours on to the move to include his driving time. I didn't argue because at this point it was 10 pm and I was exhausted as was my wife and 1 year old. Manny left me his business card and told me to call him about getting reimbursed for the mirror from his insurance. Unbeknownst to me he then blocked my number. A month later I got the bill for the mirror. It was for $1,600! I called Manny. No answer. I sent him an email with the invoice attached. No reply. I called again. Nothing. At this point it was dawning on me that Manny was going to try to hide. After about a half dozen attempts to contact him I tried calling from a different number. He called that number back immediately. Posing as a new customer I asked his rate. Does he charge for driving time? "Nope". Was he insured? "Yes" he said. Then I asked him about the broken mirror. Manny goes silent. I tell him how much the mirror cost, that I have evidence that it was fine before the move, and even that someone witnessed one of his crew breaking the mirror. He tells me that he tried to file a claim with his insurance but that they denied it. I ask him the name of his insurance. He tells me. So I call them. They have no record of a "Delfin Moving" or "Delfin Trucking" or a "Manny" or anything similar to that. She tells me she's very sorry but it appears this guy was lying about being insured. Yeah, I'm starting to get the impression that Manny lies about a lot of things. I call Manny back one more time using the alternate phone number trick and tell him that I know he's not insured and that I'm willing to negotiate some sort of deal where we split the costs. He tells me no. I tell him that I spoke with a lawyer (I had). He tells me to go for it. It's clear that Manny is not going to be reasonable so I hang up. My lawyer had already told me that given Manny's tendency to ignore the issue it would be unlikely that I would ever recover any money from him even if I did win the case in small claims. So I paid the $1600 and learned a very expensive lesson. Next time I'll just call one of the big corporate (read: legitimate) moving companies. If you factor in that Manny just arbitrarily adds hours on to his invoice they might even be cheaper in the end. They certainly would have been cheaper in my situation. $2600 to move a 1 bedroom apartment 7 miles. FML. UPDATE: Checked the Department of Transportation website. Ok, before i used these guys i went through the reviews, i always start with the negative ones, i understand you can't make everyone happy. Some of the ones i saw here got me a little concerned. After talking to Manny on phone, i decided to give him a try and they delivered! I hired Manny and his crew (consisting of two guys) to move from Westside Los Angeles to sherman Oaks. I asked Manny to stop by my place and see the furniture to give me an estimate of how long it would take. He said about 6 hours. They were on time, professional and courteous. And they were super fast too! They showed up with a very large truck and all the professional moving equipment you would expect from a legit operation. They took a total loading/unloading time of 5 1/2 hours plus about 30 minutes drive time to move a two bedroom fully furnished house (along with several heavy boxes of books). All my furniture was carefully wrapped. They even shrink wrapped my leather couches to prevent any damage. None of my furniture was damaged at all. His estimate of 6 hours was spot on, plus of course the extra 1 hour drive time (which all movers charge in LA). Compared to my previous movers who moved a partially furnished 1 bedroom, they were quicker, cheaper, friendlier and didn't break any of my lamps. I would absolutely recommend them without hesitation. And definitely would use them again in the future. read more

These Guys are EXCELLENT!! We had a move from small 1 bedroom apartment (with a ton of stuff) to a new place 14 miles away. Delfin Movers were quick and efficient. Their rates were very competitive. Not a single item was damaged and they took their time to wrap items such as our hutch, couch and ottoman. All of the workers (I believe the names were Manny, Jorge, and Carlos) were professional and personable. I gave them a $50 tip when they finished but honestly wish I'd had even more to give because they were so great. Unfortunately, I was introduced to them by their partner Javier and he quoted me a price that he said was all inclusive but it turned out that he was wrong when he told me the price included the "Double Drive Time Fee". I had specifically asked if this was included and he said yes. So in the end that extra $40 had to come out of the cash I had on hand to tip them with. I didn't feel too bad though, because they completed the move in less than 4 hours, and their rates have a 4 hour minimum, so I guess it all balanced out. HORRIBLE COMPANY!! I booked them a month in advance and on my moving day in early August 2016 THEY NEVER SHOWED! They even confirmed that they were coming 3 days before and then the morning of NEVER SHOWED! I took off work, had new place waiting, old place to move out of and clean, had to cover my child for the day AND THEY NEVER SHOWED! What kind of company leaves a single mom to move herself with no notice and not so much of the courtesy of a call? I called repeatedly and sent texts and conveniently Mannie's cell phone was turned off. I had to miss 2 more days of work and try to find other people to help move costing me so much more on short notice. I was referred to Manny by a friend who spoke highly of him. I used him in the past for a previous move and was pleased with his prices and service. HOWEVER, this last time I hired him he admitted to one of his staff breaking a piece of my furniture, had me write on the receipt that it was broken and promised to fix it, replace it or give me the money for it. This particular worker continually mentioned during the move while making small talk, that he had been out drinking the night before - which I'm sure contributed to his carelessness and my broken furniture because he was the one who dropped it. I was shocked and disappointed to find out Manny would no longer answer my calls and texts regarding my furniture. It has been over 2 months and I have not heard from him.
