I hate to be this person. With all honesty first and last time I order a cake from here. First of all the cake wasn't even made there it was made in another bakery. When my spouse went in for pick up the cake was half done, he still had to wait 30 minutes to figure out if we wanted a design or not. I think it's interesting when people leave so many negative reviews, and the owners don't even bother to comment , or try to make good with regard to a customer who feels aggrieved. I would tend to agree with the reviews that state that the quality has definitely gone downhill since the old bakery was sold a few years back. Additionally, it seems every time I come in the prices go up. I do know that since 2019, the hamantaschen have gone up about 62%, and the pound loaves have gone up about 46%. This is significantly above the rate of inflation. So in short, I'll be going to Porto's going forward. And my 12 years of loyal patronage at this bakery have come to an end. read more

I LOVE DELICIOUS BAKERY! My husband and I had our four layer wedding cake done here and we loved it. We met with the owner of the bakery for a cake tasting about 9 months prior to our wedding date and it was so hard to pick our flavors because they were all so good! We ended up choosing three flavors. We chose the lemon cake with buttercream, a strawberry cake with buttercream and a marble cake with cannoli filling (my husband is half italian from Connecticut so the cannoli filling was really exciting!!). Every flavor we tried was so good and not too sweet. The owner was very fun to work with and she helped us decide on our wedding cake design. The cake we chose was more on the simple side but we still loved it. We have used delicious bakery before our wedding for my niece's birthday party as well and even then, they were great. This weekend I picked up several items from Delicious Bakery and each and every one of them were DELICIOUS!! 1. Assorted cookies: full of flavor, fresh and so so good! 2. Egg and rye bread: perfect loaves of bread. 3. Last but not least: a custom, 12" round cake. Moist. Flavorful! Exactly how I wanted. Wish I didn't have to say this but we are done with this bakery. We used to go all the time for challah, babka and other treats. The staff and the quality were great. After the ownership changed it's no longer the same. We had an order of Passover desserts that were completely not fulfilled. We went to pick them up and they just weren't there at all. The last straw was when we ordered four sliced loaf challahs for Thanksgiving stuffing, an order that should be about as basic as you can get for a Jewish-style bakery. They packed four non-sliced, braided challahs into the bag and stapled it up. Good thing I trusted my instincts and checked inside the bag before driving away. The ambiance is no longer cheery. This bakery made my wedding cake 6 years ago. The cake was the greatest looking and tasting cake I've ever had. It was seriously epic! Since then we've purchased small 6" versions of the cake to eat on our anniversary. It was an amazing treat that cost a fraction of the original cake. $27 I guess the original owners sold the business last summer and the new owners decided to get nuts and double the prices, because this year I called to place my annual order and I was quoted over $55 for the identical small cake! WTF! Cookies are still $17 per lb. So why is this small cake twice the price? So disappointing. So now I'll be taking our business back across the Valley to Bea's, where they quoted me the same cake for $30. Bea's is legendary! Sure, it won't be the exact same thing, but at least I'll be able to sleep at night knowing I didn't get taken for a ride. After writing this review, I've read all of the reviews about the new owners and their operation and it's sad to read that I'm nowhere near the only one angry and disappointed about what's happened to a once great and proud business. This is such a hard review for me to write. I love this bakery. Or, at least, I did. It has been a family tradition to pre-order from here before passover every year. Racetracks and rainbow cookies, rocky road and haystack, marzipan, chiffon cake, and whatever else catches our eye. They're all delicious. They're all fantastic. But this year... This year, we placed our pre-order and put our cash down up front. Unlike other years where you would pick up your order from a table outside the bakery, you were compelled to wait in a line that wouldn't have been out of place at the DMV. (I was told that I could go straight up because I had paid in full when I made my pre-order, but everyone was busy handling the line, so I waited.) There was no social distancing or limiting the number of people in the store. People packed in at pre-pandemic proportions. When I got to the front, I was told that only two of eight items of my pre-order were available. I asked if the rest of it would be available the day after. They said three of eight would be available. I chose to come back the next day and wait through the same line again and discover that my order had been lost. After quite a while, my three items were sourced and I was told again that there was no way that the rocky road or rainbow cookies or marzipan or haystacks or percofskies would be available at all. I exchanged some of my order for other items, but there's only so many macaroons you can eat when you had planned on eating other things with them. My story is not alone. There was a chorus of loyal customers all suffering from the same breakdowns of this once beautiful business. It turns out that there was a new owner. He was obviously stressed, but it was abundantly clear from his interactions that customer service is not a passion of his. He's not particularly well spoken and said a few things he really shouldn't have like asking one previously loyal customer if they want to continue coming to the bakery. There were no efforts to limit COVID exposure in the store (Hello, LA Department of Health!). There were no efforts to handle pre-orders separately. There no efforts to standardize how to help people make up for the missing portion of their pre-order. So everything moved at a snails pace as every order was handled case-by-case and the line grew ever longer. How can I recommend a taste of my childhood with an experience like this? To the owner: please either straighten out your production line or hand the business to someone who can. This incompetence is messing with people's lives: your workers, your customers, and yourself. read more

The first photo is the picture I emailed to the decorator asking if they could make this exact cake for my son's 2nd birthday. I was reassured on multiple occasions that the cake would look like the photo. I paid for the cake in advance, in full. The other photos are of the cake I actually received. The person who did the writing must have been drunk! The cookie crumbles on top of the cake were pathetic looking, and the piping looked like it was done by a toddler. Delicious Bakery is truly a hidden gem of a bakery. Nestled in the corner of a large shopping center with a VONS. Plenty of free parking so it should never be an issue. This bakery has something for everyone. Like its name, the pastries and cookies here are really DELICIOUS! Although the bakery is no longer kosher, the bakery still maintains diary guidelines for most of their items. The cakes are very tasty and flavorful. We have always had a great experience when we have either ordered ahead or placed an order in-person. The cookie selection is superb and the staff does an amazing job given how busy they are. The last time I was there to pick 2 pounds of cookies and pastries, the friendly staff even tied my box with a ribbon since it was for a birthday. I recommend getting there early in case you have not placed an order since they tend to run out of items fast. read more

Do NOT go here. This bakery was recently sold and the new owners have no clue how to run a bakery. They've ruined the Delicious Bakery that's been around for years. My most recent experience was ordering desserts for a party, in person, prepaid, 4-days in advance. They had my information including phone number. But on the day of pick up I went in and they didn't have my order. The girl said they messed up a few orders. I asked for a full refund and she said no. What a disappointment. Also, like others have stated in reviews, the products are not fresh. They're not making fresh stuff daily. They're selling old, stale stuff at fresh prices. And the new staff sucks. Something must have changed during Covid. I just visited my favorite bakery, bought a pound of cookies. They are NOT the same. They look the same, but the butter flavor is gone. Prices have gone up, expectedly, but quality has gone way down. New staff is no longer friendly as before and my favorite cake of all time, mocha cake, is no longer made even as a special order. What a fun experience! I walked in and was overwhelmed by the smells in this place! Wowzers. Not only did they have great products like the red velvet cupcakes, customized cakes as well as these melt in your mouth cookies, Kaylie was the one to help me and she just blew me away with the sweet southern love she showed me. The cake looked nothing like the one we agreed to (their advertised cake on the shelf at the bakery). Once we got home and saw the cake, we called them immediately. They couldn't fix it last minute and were apologetic. She offered me a refund but told me I had to give her my credit card info. Since we were having the baby shower I told her I would call her tomorrow with the info. We called the next day and the owner was so rude.
