I thought this Armenian bakery Black Forest would be JUST OKAY,turned out the icing hard like cement must be at least 5 days old, all cheries shrunk already and inside stale. I didn't return it because that store always lots customers, they didn't give me receipt, far away from where I live. If you want Black Forest just don't get it here as my real experienced ended up $29 in the trash, the next day I went to 85 Degrees Bakery cost me $31 but the taste way way better and super fresh moist. Only it wasn't just a cake, they thrilled us with dozens of the most beautiful cupcakes (my fave), each frosted with a gorgeous, buttercream white rose. There were several kinds of cupcakes under the beautiful frosting -- white cake, yellow cake, chocolate, marble and red velvet -- and a multi-layer topper. Delicious Bakery is no more! More like Atrocious Bakery! My family and I have supported and loved this bakery for decades but the quality that used to exist here is gone. I was told it was sold about a yr and a half ago. Last weekend I picked up a cake order for a gender reveal that turned out to be a complete disaster. The cake was sloppily made and whoever made it didn't pay attention to the details in the inspiration photo I provided via email. What's worse than how it looked was how it tasted! The bavarian filling had a sour taste and the cake was not edible! Imagine taking everyone's cake back because you're afraid of your guests getting sick! Such an embarrassing experience and it completely ruined a very special occasion. We did contact the bakery and were offered a refund but the damage is honestly irreparable. read more

Last time coming here today. Place has really gone downhill....Don't ignore the bad reviews as they unfortunately are accurate. They have soup Nazi type of signs all over the place telling you what to do not do as well as NO REFUNDS signs. Very inviting! Anyway I ordered a basic cake last week in advance. There is now a service fee of 4% I believe so pay in cash. Picked up the cake today (place was empty) and took a long time to get the cake where they wrote Happy Birthday on a piece of plastic that looks like Duct Tape that they put over the cake? WTF? I'll post the pic later today so you could see what I mean. I asked if they could move the strawberry in the middle and then just put some whipped cream over it and then write happy birthday and was told no and that it would change the cake? Nearly $40 on a cake that would have looked better had I just gone to a grocery store where they would have at least wrote happy birthday on the cake. Not sure why this place started to suck quite honestly. It wasn't just me either. 2 or 3 different people came in leaving with nothing because they didn't have whatever basic thing they were asking for. Otherwise, they have plenty of already-made options they sell on a first-come, first-serve which I have bought plenty of times. They will even add a message if you need it. I was looking for a local bakery to order a cake from for my daughter's birthday and found Delicious Bakery on Yelp. The 8" cake I ordered was very reasonably priced and it was easy to order over email. I wanted a white cake with strawberry Bavarian cream filling and plain white frosting on the outside but with some texture, like slightly ruffled layers. The cake didn't turn out exactly like the photo I sent for inspiration, but it still looked really pretty with some fresh flowers and I got a lot of compliments on the cake, both appearance and flavor. I asked a friend to pick up a dessert for the Passover Seder I was making. He bought an apple babka. It was very, very good. However, babka's are not kosher or even mock kosher for Passover. He didn't know that and obviously the new owners of Delicious Bakery don't know that either. Not everything that is Jewish is good for every holiday, especially Passover. I wanted to order a cake for my daughter last year, I called for a week and they would always tell me that the person that takes the order is not there, to call back the next day. So I emailed them and never got a reply. Now I wanted a birthday cake for my mom and again no one could take my order. I emailed again and got a response two days later and said they couldn't do it. I used to love this place, but now....it's not so delicious anymore. :( The bakery changed owners (I believe during the pandemic), and the quality is now terrible. Cakes are dry and old tasting. They advertised small specialty desserts on their Facebook page, like what Porto's sells, but theirs were inedible. I bought several new items a few months ago, and we each took a bite and threw them all away. Their Facebook page is now deactivated or deleted, but the desserts and descriptions looked nothing like what was actually in the store. Awful and disappointing. Also, the girl running the front counter had no idea what each dessert was, nor what was in them. This is bad for people with food allergies. I love supporting local family businesses, so I think I'll stick to Porto's. read more

I have purchased many custom birthday cakes, cupcakes, TONS of desserts for parties many many times for over last ten years from Delicious Bakery. My baby shower cakes, birthday cakes, anniversary cakes, five different desserts for parties of 50 people or more, etc etc etc. I honestly spend hundreds of dollars per year at this bakery and have always loved them so much, until today. Today I came in (on 10/26/22) requesting 24 Halloween cookies for a preorder pick-up on Halloween morning for my son's class Halloween party. I said they can be simple pumpkin cookies with no frosting and all the same... that I just need them by Monday morning (10/31/22). The young lady kind of gives me the run-around saying that they don't know if they have cookies molds yet, and this and that... After going back and forth forever, she tells me, "oh I have to ask the baker and they're in the back, so can you give me a few minutes and I'll come back and let you know what they say...?" She comes back and tells me a few minutes later, "sorry no, we can't do anything like that for you..." Like, "sorry, but no... making 24 Halloween cookies for you by Monday 10/31/22 is too unreasonable of an order for us..." Really?!? It's too difficult to make two dozen simple Halloween or anything related (like a small pumpkin cookie) in the next five days for me? WOW is all I can say. My first time to this bakery and boy did I wait far too long! I walked in on Sunday afternoon to a busy place, and was immediately greeted by a person making drinks and another at the front willing to take my order. I mentioned it was my first time and I would need a moment. After looking around at all the beautiful pastries, breads, cookies and more, I settled upon three items - orange cranberry scone, black and white cookie, and a Chinese chocolate something cookie (I forgot the name). All three came to about $7.50. That may seem like a lot but let me tell you, these cookies were HUGE! The scone was absolutely delicious. Not too sweet and not too tart, a great balance of the scone to orange to cranberry ratio. It was also so soft and yes, fluffy! It was creamy to the bite and the exterior wasn't "crisp" or hard like some scones are (which I do not mind at all) rather this had a softer shell which was still amazing. The black and white cookie was also delicious! A bit different than what I am used to, it was more of a bowl shape rather than a flat cookie. And softer too, not as hard as some places make their black and white cookies! Even the icing was fresh, creamy, and not fondant like. Overall, the cookie to icing ration was perfect for this huge cookie, not too sweet, and I am craving more! The last cookie was not a favorite but it was not bad either. There was a big chunk of chocolate in the middle top while the rest of the cookie was marble like. It was also pretty dry but not crumbling into dust dry. I kept some for the following day and it softened up but overall I would not order it again. Nothing bad, just not to my taste! I will definitely return and would love to try more! read more

I appreciate the owner responding to my first review. I probably should have stated stronger what a great bakery it is. I frequently used Delicious Bakery for work events and home bd parties and they never disappointed. My dismay was that I was in from out of state (AZ) and wanted to pick up baked goods for a visit to a friend. When we got there it was closed for remodel. We did go out of our was 30 miles, so that tells you how great I think it is. I'm happy to hear they are open again and on our next visit to CA we try again. read more

I hope the owners see this. I don't live near here so I have no reason to return. I went hiking in Chatsworth and had lunch at Pita Pockets--a couple of doors away . I was curious about the bakery because someone had come into the restaurant with a Dubai chocolate confection. I decided to check out the bakery myself. I purchased a Dubai chocolate confection the looked like a miniature cake. I also bought a popoyseed hamentaschen that was wrapped in plastic wrap. My gut told me that if you have to wrap them in plastic, your turn over must not be that great I got home and cut the Dubai cake into 1/4s. My friend and I each tried it. Awful. Been refrigerated for too long and took on the flavors of the refrigeration. Tried some of the center but threw the rest away. I noticed that even though the hamentashen was wrapped in plastic, there was a big hole where the popilseed filling was exposed I ignored it. Got home, sampled a bite of the pastry, not bad. I tried to cut through the poppyseed filling. Impossible. Not only that, the filling was rancid. I would say make absolutely sure that what you buy is fresh! read more

This used to be my favorite bakery. It was my second stop when I would come to Northridge. I will leave you guessing on my first. Now I find Delicious Bakery stuff are not that fresh. The mondel bread (cookies) can be stale, the hamantaschen and many of the pastries are wrapped in plastic and often have just come out of the freezer. I am sad. I am enclosing a receipt the $38.57was for the chocolate chip cookies sandwiched with chocolate fudge; the cookies are still excellent, but the price is ridiculous!!(2 pounds) got a little over a pound of wedding cakes. The price was $22.64 and they are not the original recipe. These were smaller and drier. The butter was definitely missing as were the nuts very disappointing and $22 that takes a lot of chutzpah! And then there was the six pieces of baklava for $21.66!!! they were dry and I feel really ripped off!!! please return to the original recipes at affordable prices, please! read more

I used to love this place and have been ordering frequently since about 2009. Don't know if it's under new management, which I highly suspect, but the last three years I have seen a rapid decline in quality. I have continued to go there since I keep hoping it gets better and due to the convenience of being extremely close to my home. Below are a few examples throughout the last few years that my family and I have experienced. 1) Purchased a German chocolate cake and took it to work after bragging how good this place was only to find the cake was dry and there was too much frosting. Quite embarrassing to say the least. 2) Purchased a child's birthday cake with large sprinkles but the sprinkles were very hard. 3) Purchased another birthday cake for a child and they put the wrong filling. The filling was not the best for the palettes of children. At least this one wasn't dry but there was a lot of cake left over. 4). Mid year, I picked up a cake just because I had a sweet tooth. The cake was heavy, and I thought this was gonna be really good. However, much to my dismay the cake, if you can call it that, was pretty much all frosting with little actual cake. I tried to bear through it but after a while, I just threw it away. There went 30+ dollars. 5) The other day my niece picked up a pumpkin pie and pastries for a rare family dinner and the pastries were so dry all the guests were commenting on it. The pumpkin pie also left much to be desired. In the end, no one really wanted what was left over which was a lot, that we ended up just throwing them as they weren't really edible. Yes, I put myself in this situation since I kept returning, but this will be no longer no matter how convenient it is distance wise. These experiences have shown me that no matter how I hoped for the glory years to return, the business that I once frequented is truly no longer. To the owners of the business, if trying to cut down on costs by hiring nonprofessional bakers, which is clearly abundant by the repeated below par quality of the pastries/cakes, and by loading on the frosting instead of actual cake to make it look like the customer is getting what they paid for, please stop piggybacking on the reputation established by the others before you as they took pride in their work. I moved a few years ago and when visiting friends I stopped by to get the white and rye bread. They didn't have rye. But the white bread was on a shelf that said $3.00 alongside of some danish in a bag. I assumed they were $3.00 each bag! Boy I was wrong!!! The danish bag was &9.00 and the loaf of bread was $4 ish I bought the bread cause my family loved it! I asked to have it thick sliced . She said they only do thin!!! Okay fine! The next morning I was gonna make sandwiches and French toast. Oh boy did the bread change! It was dense and dry! I called my friend and said did they change Owners? She had no clue! I came from Santa Clarita for marble and banana nut pound cakes. This bakery has changed ownership. I felt no one actually cared to help me, but once someone did finally ask if I needed help, they did look for the pound cakes. The bakery no longer has the beautifully decorated cakes in the case.
