De Lillos started my first trip to Arthur Avenue off on the right foot. Being a snowy (in late March?!) Wednesday morning, the shop was fairly empty. The woman at the counter was very attentive, taking our order efficiently. Thankfully, my friend's parents gave us recommendations for what to order. Otherwise, the long counters filled with delicious-looking treats would have been too over-whelming. My friend and I each had a large cappuccino and two pine nut cookies. The cappuccino hit the spot -- warm and strong with a nice milk froth. The pine nut cookies do not look like much -- but they are delicious. Firm but chewy cookies covered in toasty pine nuts with just the right amount of sweetness to go nicely with our coffee. We also purchased a pound of Savoiarde cookies to bring home for my friend's parents. I snuck one of these, and they are delicious. Again, they don't look like much -- almost potato-like and white. Sometimes they seem to be confused for Lady Fingers. They have a nice crunch to them with a light sweetness. My friend explains they are best slightly stale and dunked in a cup of coffee. Wow! I normally do not care for cake, but this place's chocolate cake (wish I knew what it was specifically) was out of this world! I purchased it for a birthday party and everyone ate their entire piece and raved all night! You never see that. :) The pastries are pretty good too. I really like the 7 layer raspberry filled pastry - think that's the name?! There is plenty of street parking in the area - metered. Not much room inside, a little cramped, but there are a few tables to sit down if you wanted to. read more

Not the best bakery on Arthur Ave, but if you are looking for a place to stay and eat something there its a good choice because there is a lot of seating. I was not thrilled with the service. I took my parents there and we sat down and waited about 10 minutes for someone to cone over to our table. The woman sweeping up had to ask us if we were being served. She did a great job taking our order but one of the 3 other waitresses should have come to take care of us sooner. The pastries we got were ok, but I've had better in Arthur. My cappuccino was ok, but again, not the best I've had on Arthur. Overall, if I were looking for a sit down experience like this, I would chose Palombo's over De Lillo's in the future. read more

i was looking for something similar to my astoria and bay ridge cafes. so, this was recommended by a friend of mine. while the seating wasnt as comfortable, it still had the right look and OH OH OH so the right selection of pastries and teas. thank you de lillos, for destroying yet ANOTHER brooklyn stereotype of the bronx. =) read more

Yes, 5 stars. To me pastries can only come from one place- De Lillos. The new space is nice and big and the pastries are always fresh. Sfogliatelle are my absolute favorite thing and they make the best ones here. The cannoli, rainbow cookies, Napoleon, eclairs, etc are all delicious. The holidays or parties = buying a giant box of mini pastries and enjoying!! read more

This little pastry shop is quite a find. They have a wide selection of deserts and coffee. Me and my friend shared both the Napoleon and the blueberry cheesecake. They were both delicious. I had a cappuccino which was also good. The service was also good here and so I would recommend it if you are up in the Bronx. read more

We got the "lobster tail" and cannoli. I thought they were both mediocre. The cannoli tasted old and the lobster tail was filled with bland whipped cream. Won't be back. read more

After a very sentimental Mariano Rivera Day at Yankee Stadium and dinner down the street at Emilia's (review to follow!) we went to De Lillo's for dessert. We were accompanied by friends who are dedicated Yankee fans and came from Oklahoma to see the game and see Mariano ( and Metallica!) They had cheesecake, I had my favorite, pignoli cookies, we also had eclairs, red velvet cake and cappuccinos. (They also have gelato and ices.) Service was fine, place is nice, clean and spacious. Really enjoyed it and will come back next time we are at the Stadium. read more

I close by and stop here often in the summer and fall. I love the tiramisu and any of the baked good with fruits on it. The staff isn't the most attentive or nice but the serve you. The prices are reasonable. read more

Had a cannoli. I'm used to shells that taste like the crispy noodles they bring you in Chinese restaurants, but this shell was MUCH lighter and fluffier, so it was a unique taste for me. I also had an iced cappuccino, which would probably dangerous if I lived closer. Looking forward to coming back again and sampling more! read more

This was a good clean place for a break. The pastry was good but not stellar. The berry tart a friend got was at least a few days old and had been in the chilled section so was not as nice as it could be. My tea was just a tea bag in hot water but my friend said the coffee was good. Service was very nice. read more

De Lillos might just have the best coffee ever! It's strong and doesn't need sugar. The shop is arranged very cutely, with the various pastries looking amazing in their display area. They also sell Italian candies, gelato, and various other wares. Canolli was very good, although not the best in the neighborhood, perhaps because they sit in the display area with the cream already filled. My girlfriend really loves the chocolate canolli. I definitely come back when I need my coffee and look forward to trying more. read more

As a kid growing up in this neighborhood you had some amazing italian pastry options. You had De Lillos and Egidio. Both are amazing and have been part of my family and up bringing. My grandmother liked De Lillos and my grandfather liked Egidio. Anyway I go to De Lillos for Eclair's and Neapolitan pastry's. The neighborhood is shrinking but it is still home because of places like De Lillos. read more

Love going to this store, the pastries are amazing and the selection is to die for. My only complaint, and it just happened...is I went to purchase treats for Christmas today and was easily spending over $100...a young thin girl walks in the guy behind the counter tells one of the serves to give her a Christmas cookie on the house cause she looked so Christmasy.....she had on a red scarf... Mind you she only spent about $2. For someone like me...5 foot nothing and can afford to lose some weight...to see that right in front of my face..especially by one of the employees was hurtful and actually prejudicial towards me. I will still go and buy my treats from here, always have, but will be just more guarded about how much business I give them. read more

This is my spot! Everything is fresh and good no matter when I go. There's never a wait. The bathroom is clean. (Always a good sign) you can tell the owners are passionate. It lacks diversity but still an awesome spot! I've only purchased cookies and slices. I'm looking forward to buying a cake. read more

After trying Palombo's, Egidio's and Artuso's I have to say De Lillos makes my favorite canoli on Arthur Ave/187th St.

I don't have much experience with Italian pastry shops being new to new york and the bronx. However, I discovered this place and went back two more times within two weeks of going the first time. I am not a big fan of cannolis but there's hit the spot. I tried both the regular one and the chocolate one. I prefer the regular one and their carrot cake and cappuccino is great. There chocolate fudge cakes are also good, a little too much for me but still good. Lastly, I was not impressed with their hot chocolate it tasted too much like milk and not enough like chocolate. But like I said before overall good pastry shop. And the place is really nice! read more

You can't go wrong with anything you order. I make weekly trips here to pick up the Tirimisu Cups my mom loves. The cappuccino accompanied with either a chocolate mousse cake, red velvet cake or carrot cake is always a winner. I grew up in the Belmont section of the Bronx. Arthur Avenue was my playground. After moving to the burbs I still returned to do my shopping. I now live in Denver, Colorado, and though I love it here the only thing I truly miss about NY is Belmont and De Lillos sfogliatelle! It is a must whenever I go back East.
