We reserved at Comfort Suites for the weekend. I forgot his name, but the light haired gentleman at the counter was awesome!! He got our room cleaned early so we could get settled. That's when things went from a 5 star to 1. Room 101 was awful! From the permanent mark on the carpet from someone dropping an iron on the 1980's carpet, to the disgusting windows, to the smell of "old" everywhere, this was awful. Clearly it was kept for people with disabilities from all the bars and lack of furniture. I immediately went back to the desk to a different counter person with black hair. I told him to cancel our 2 nights and that we would brave the flood waters to get back to our house. I told him why and he didn't seem to care. Worse yet, I was charged the full room rate, plus another $39 for cancellation of the next day. We will never consider this location in a time of need again, not recommend to anyone coming to our area.

The staff is exceptional, rooms are clean with updated décor and new mattresses had recently been put on the beds. Our room was spacious and quiet and breakfast was delicious and a perfect start to our days. The Proprietor is professional and customer service focused. If it's not to your expectations, they will make it right. Significant changes and upgrades are being made to this hotel and they are on the right path to creating a reputation-worthy business. Based on our experience, this will be our first choice whenever we are traveling to Portage.

I have never been so embarrassed to be in my hometown, featuring a local restaurant and receive that type of service. Apparently, Crestwood does not value its customers. I have never been so moved to write a review before but this was so unacceptable that it should be out for your consideration.
