Things to do in Seattle...West Seattle Farmers Market at the heart of the West Seattle Junction…read more From farm to the neighborhood community! Wherever we travel, we love checking out the local farmers market! We ran into this farmers market meeting a friend for a hike. We were too early since they don't open until 10am. Afterwards, we came back to check it out. Love the sense of community. It got really busy with some vendors having long lines. Fresh vegetables, fruit, amazing cider, meat, cheese, fresh oysters, fresh mushrooms, bread and baked goods. And, of course, gorgeous fresh flowers!! The food options are great with grilled salmon and breakfast sandwiches. We left with fresh apricots, cherries and a bottle of Apple Cider. Parking on side streets can get full near the farmers market. It gets quite busy. There are no bathrooms. It is also dog friendly.

Cute year-round farmers market with a lot of stands selling fresh produce, meat, flowers, and more…read more There are not a lot of hot/ready to eat stands here compared to other farmers markets, but cool restaurants are so close by so it doesn't really matter. I recommend Lady Jaye for lunch, Bakery Nouveau for baked goods, and Panterelli for beverages and dessert! It got quite busy at times at several stands, but it went quickly and everyone was chill about it. It was not chaotic or stressful at all, no claustrophobic vibes here. It was also fun to people watch to see what other patrons were buying. Many people were out with the entire family and pets and enjoying the great weather. I can't wait for summer to roll around and for more stuff to come to market!

I feel compelled to create a new review after the last two visits the stares and unwelcoming feeling have been more intense each visit over the past year. It's almost as if Duane doesn't like children unless they're his grandkids, and or maybe the staff mean mugs different races. The way they speak and look at white men is way different than how they talk to us. They watch and shake their head at my daughter even though we are having fun naming the different veggies, they allow white customers to cut us as we are standing very clearly ready to pay. I always buy a variety of overpriced items from pizza to plants to fruits, and yet my purchases feel unappreciated. I love to support local small business. Again, I'll only return if i really don't feel like getting in the car... I wish Duane's was a proud neighborhood gem for me but they just aren't.

This was my first farmer's market in Washington and it was utterly magical!…read more The produce quality is so amazing and I loved all the variety! The flowers were beyond beautiful. I don't think I have seen more beautiful blooms anywhere else! I love that it was heavily focused on local small businesses, farmers, and FOOD. We stopped for a few bites along the way and were blown away every time. So good. This market is huge and stretches for a few blocks, so be sure to come early and give yourself ample time to explore. Also, with it being in Ballard, there are a ton of cool, hipster shops to browse while you're in the area.

Ballard Farmers Market was my favorite farmers market in the greater Seattle area for many years…read more Recently, the booth count seems to be less than before, with restaurants occupying the street space (understandably) along two blocks. Subsequently, I lost some interest since I don't live nearby. While I was in Ballard on a recent Sunday, I rushed to the market to see if it was still open. Officially, it was not; they closed at 2pm. But they were still packing up. I believe they are not allowed to sell after the official closing time; I asked one vendor, they declined. The staff wants the streets to reopen as soon as possible. As I walked the two blocks, several vendors still have some items on display on their tables. With a bit of wink, wink, accidentally dropping cash on the table and accidentally taking things off the table, I walked away with goodies. I won't say what I bought to avoid anyone getting into trouble. Street parking was easy enough nearby on a Sunday.

I didnt see it and parked down the road but the streets around here are on a hill so I had a bit of a trek. The ambiance was cute, friendly, and neighborly. There are two rows to walk through and the patio seating of a restaurant was playing live music so there was a fun ambiance. Surprisingly there were more food options than I expected and some really good options that I've seen at larger markets. I was able to get some delicioius peaches, and a mix and match deal of berries. I'd come to this market again if I'm in the area or lived in the neighborhood but because parking was a bit hard and the market is so small, I would say it was just OK.

We love this Farmers Market!…read more While it's smaller than some, the selection is always bountiful and beautiful. The vendors are so friendly and personable and truly make you feel like you have joined the neighborhood, weekly meet-and-greet. Samples galore! Thus making it difficult to walk away empty-handed. Everything from the fresh, house-made mozzarella cheese (try the basil, sundried tomato, garlic, caprese!), local popsicles, hot foods and many seasonable fruits/veggies, keep us coming back from week to week. There is seating available for those wishing to enjoy dinner on the premises, as well as a small playground/play structure for children needing to work their wiggles out. A great bonus for those using the EBT and WIC programs: they accept both! Double your purchasing power with Fresh Bucks and tokens that can be used at a handful of other farmers markets as well.
