The food is incredible, the coffee is incredible. But I will say on a Friday afternoon it's a scene. People are waiting to sit down and other people are taking their time with empty coffee cups. I really love the chorizo sandwich. Highly recommend !!

This is a must on any trip to the Hudson Valley or for locals who love pastries and delicious foods. We've been coming since they opened and it just keeps getting better. Whether it's a quick pastry pick up or sitting down for breakfast, brunch or lunch, everything is delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's Paris in a cafe upstate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Run, don't walk here! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plenty of parking and seating on non busy days/times.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Go early for best selection - no chai vanilla donuts were left on a recent trip. :( See website for more details.

I planned a quick stop here before heading to Art Omi for a solo adventure. There have been so many great reviews that I was excited to check the place out for myself. Customer service was excellent - friendly and helpful staff. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The building itself is beautiful! There is inside dining as well as outdoor seating on the deck, which looks out over the flowers in bloom. You can feel the history of this place in the best way possible.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On this day, it was just a quick grab and go for me, but I look forward to coming back and time to enjoy a meal. I had to try the hashbrown, which was served with both a homemade ketchup and a homemade aioli. I had never tried aioli with a hashbrown before - and it was delicious! Chai tea was perfectly made as well. I brought the pastries home for a later treat, and they were excellent as well. I will make sure to stop here again this summer.

Always excellent. Loved the hot chocolate options, this visit tried the Oaxacan spicy hot chocolate with chipotle and cinnamon, awesome. Get there early if you want baked items, they ran out this time

[[HIGHLIGHT]]From the design to the baked goods and the flowers on your way in... this place is a dream!!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We stop anytime we are in the area! My favorite is the farmers breakfast sandwich and howls owl milkshake! If there were 100 star, I'd give it that many!

Very good breads and pastries in a cozy setting. Great place to grab a light breakfast in town. Their sourdough is amazing! There is also decently strong wifi and about 7-8 tables in the back where you can sit and work when it's quiet. Prices are a little on the high side, for example the ham croissant is almost $6. The coffee is also very good, but there can be a bit of a wait when it gets busy, particularly on weekend mornings.

What a find! Driving back to NJ from VT and we decided to stop here to refresh ourselves. Our sandwiches were great and the fries were good as well. We ordered two orders of fries for 4 people, but the serving size is large, on order would have sufficed. I also bought a bottle of the blueberry rose jam and it is great, way less surgery then your typical jam. The cafe is also decorated very nicely.... i was instantly relaxed when i walked in. I hope we remember to stop here again when we are in the area.

View from parking lot, main entry is up half a flight of stairs.

We only have time to do a quick grab and go on a Saturday morning! I wished I grabbed a lot more than the latte and scone! I always get a scone if that is an option and this was a cherry scone, oh boy, that was one of the best piece of bakeries I have ever tasted! I would be in trouble if this is near where I live! My friend got a croissant and she loved it too. I need to tag this in case I am ever back at this part of the country!

Fantastic stop coming from Art Omi, great service and location, al fresco dining and maybe the BEST hamburger I ever had, brioche bun, perfectly charbroiled with thin fries and a great array of sauces, house ketchup, romesco, alíoli and mustard, the maple cured bacon was the top price. My wife had the broiled vegetables and just look at the photo, they really know what they are doing at this place and I plan to stop there when exploring the Hudson area. Service was efficient and attentive, looking forward to further explore the menu

Delicious eggs Benedict and fried chicken sandwich. Loved eating on the porch. Was raining but was fully covered and comfortable. You order at the counter and take a number.

Incredibly bummed, especially seeing all the positive press around the quality and the sourcing…read morethey claim to approach business with, that quite a lot of the food being served was from SYSCO or another large similar restaurant supply vendor, ordered by the case and baked from frozen. Now first off, don't get me wrong, buying in bulk or sacrificing the quality of some ingredients to large suppliers like this is definitely a reality when running a restaurant. Even moreso in this day and age when ingredient prices are exorbitant. That said, it needs to be reflected in the price point. Pastries are arranged beautifully under cloches in the display case, but I could spot the premade, ready-to-bake spinach feta bistro (https://www.chefswarehouse.com/products/QZ119984/) or ham and cheese croissant (https://www.chefswarehouse.com/products/99971/) from a mile away. The avocado spread on the preassembled breakfast sandwiches is definitely the pulp from the 3lb bag from Chef's Warehouse too. I know that taste! All of that said, they had a few items in the case that I'm sure weren't from one of these big vendors. Which was great to see. My (yes, unsolicited!) advice would be to pare down the menu. Offer just a bit less so you can focus on the quality. Try and tap into some local producers if you can! That's one of the best things about the Hudson Valley... how much all the purveyors and markets and cafes support each other. It's clear too how much they care about the community. They're dog friendly inside. No WiFi to encourage people to chat with one another. Fine. I really want to see this place continue to thrive, it's just a bit of a bummer that a significant part of the menu including things that really should be fresh, aren't.

Their menu is extensive and impressive; they have some all-star dishes on their permanent menu as well as a rotating daily menu with a legendary lineup of seasonal items. I really appreciate that they have dishes that are hard to come by such as lentil loaf and lasagna, and these never disappoint. The lentil loaf is unique; it is a little brick of lentils (not your traditional sliceable mush of breadcrumbs and minced veggies). It's very well seasoned and the tomato sauce on top is not overly sweet. The mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy and (very) garlicky greens make it a great meal. The lasagna is one of my favorite dishes. It's pasta-free and just made from layers of sliced zucchini and other veggies sandwiched with their delicious crumbly housemade cashew cheese. The herby tomato sauce is super flavorful. The side salad and garlic bread that accompany it are great also; an ultra comforting meal. We enjoyed the macro meal, although honestly not as much as the other dishes. The pan-seared tofu was delicious, but the arame seaweed salad was super seaweedy and salty - a bit much for me. I'm also not sure why they didn't serve it in a bowl, which would have made the rice etc. easier to eat. It seemed to be missing something - perhaps avocado, or a hunk of sweet potato. A few items at the Garden Cafe are a little perplexing, compared to how perfect most of their food is. The tempeh is just ok. It's heavily marinated in a sweet and salty sauce and kind of strange. Also disappointing that it's just a big brand tempeh rather than one of the local tempeh brands available in the area. The housemade focaccia is also bizarre. The texture made me think it was gluten-free (but it's not). Is it whole wheat?? If that's the case, awesome, but they should mention that on the menu, so you aren't taken aback when you don't get pillowy airy bread and instead get something flat and gray that could be mistaken for a biscotti. We LOVE the Garden Cafe and wish more places like this existed serving organic classic meals. We wish they would open a location in New York City, but until then, we will be making the drive!
