Flew to Boston with a connecting flight in ATL and had no issues. Smooth flight, boarding was easy, in-flight entertainment and wifi worked effortlessly, and the crew were friendly. Not sure why anyone can really hate this airline. They do as good a job or better as other airlines to get you where you need to go. Helpful and friendly air crew and gate agents. Delta is the king of the airways I my opinion. Let's be honest in most cases flying is not much fun anymore... it is a hassle from the getting up early to the security line, to the waiting, to the boarding process. There is just not a lot of fun in it anymore. But delta does it better than most... Have there been issues in some of the many flights I have taken over the years... sure but I'd venture to say it was a very small portion of the hundreds of flights I've taken. Arriving back in Louisiana last night and discovering that my luggage had not arrived, especially after the issues I had already experienced with KLM on this trip, was upsetting to say the least. However, I was assisted by a wonderful Delta representative named Deidre. While she was not able to fully resolve the issue at that time since it originated on the KLM portion of the trip, what stood out most was that she genuinely cared. She gave me the space to express my concerns, made me feel heard, and offered support beyond what was immediately within her control. It was refreshing to be treated as a human being rather than just another problem. Deidre assured me she would escalate the issue and personally follow up when she returned to work the next day. This morning, I connected virtually with another kind and helpful representative named Cindy. Cindy was able to assist with the part of the issue that Deidre did not have the capability to resolve, and she successfully located all of my luggage. After the return trip I had experienced, I was incredibly grateful for the care, professionalism, and kindness shown by both of these women. My luggage is scheduled to be delivered today, and the final piece that was previously unaccounted for will be delivered tomorrow. read more

Never have I ever LOVED Delta Airlines. I'll be frank and say that 20-25 years ago when I used to fly them all the time I absolutely hated Delta. My sentiment is only slightly better now that I'm flying them again. From Portland TO SLC Delta did fine. Packed plane, not too long of a flight. Pleasant crew. SLC to MSY also just a fine flight. Nothing to report. MSY the morning of 1/9/23 DISASTER. Tavia was "working" the counter and one other older woman. I say "working" because the idea seemed a distant concept to her. She gave EVERY excuse to NOT have to work. She didn't put baggage on the belt when people checked it, until she realized no one else would do it for her. She kept leaving behind the desk for ANY reason whatsoever. Someone at a Kiosk needs help, she's your girl. Need to tell the people which line to go to (since apparently the signage telling people wasn't adequate,) Tavia got you!! But when the woman IN line says at 10am that she has an INTERNATIONAL flight to board at 10:45 am, Tavia got to GO get a scanner. WTAF woman?! Customer Service is NOT her thing. If I were he supervisor, she'd be fired or written up. Such incredibly POOR service. Then a bright star arose. Carla. Carla was ON the scene and immediately you could tell 1-Carla don't play and 2-Carla wants to help ALL the passengers get to their flights. We were in the bag drop line and she moved people faster than the other two women combined. Tavia barely helped two people with bag drop in the time Carla handled 4 times that amount. Carla IS the hero of MSY today. A LOT of angry people would have missed planes if it hadn't been for Carla. I applaud her and I will absolutely be contracting Delta to tell them that she alone was BUSTING her butt working today. Thank you Carla. You deserve a raise AND recognition. Our flight MSY to ATL was stuffy, hot, we barely made it, and when we landed, the pilot hit the runway so hard I thought we had left half the suitcases from below behind us!!! I love Delta. They fly EVERYWHERE... Well that's not really true; but for the most part, they do. I mean they fly waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy more places than some of the other airlines & I will say, their service is consistent. That being said, once you know the rules, hello a personal item & a carry-on, it's all good after that. Kudos to Delta for their care for the elderly & disabled. My granny was flying alone and they took care of her from the TSA checkpoint until her final destination; this SPEAKS VOLUMES for an airline. Especially in the days of mo' money mo' money... So glad to see an airline honor & pay homage to the real trailblazers... Our seniors, where would we be without them?!?!?! When flying Delta, I find the flights to be economical in price and thankfully they don't play any of that "economy flight = less bag space" foolishness. Buying ahead of time is the game to ensure tickets are withn your price point; also I find flying mid week is great as well. Love the on-board snacks... When I booked a round-trip from southern CA to New Orleans, Delta charged another $50 in addition to the price they quoted through Expedia. Before my scheduled return flight to CA, a check-in kiosk asked if I would be willing to give up my seat on a compensated basis if the flight was overbooked. I indicated I would. At the boarding gate, a Delta agent informed me that the flight was in fact overbooked. She offered to reschedule my return flight to the next day at no additional charge, $1,000 in future Delta travel, overnight hotel lodging ($280 fair market value), and round-trip shuttle service ($44 fair market value) to the hotel. I accepted after specifying that would give me the chance to site see after the conference which had brought me to New Orleans. I also expressed it was my first time in New Orleans and may be my last due to my busy life in CA. I was looking forward to it! The agent asked me to remain in the boarding area to finalize the next steps after she boarded the passengers who were still flying out that day. I complied. However, a few minutes later, she demanded that I board immediately. When I asked about our agreement, she expressed that she gave the deal to someone else instead. After I arrived home, Delta reiterated its refusal to honor our agreement and/or credit me the $50 overcharge. About a year later, I asked Delta to honor our agreement after offering documentation that I needed a round-trip from CA to NY to attend my dear Grandma's funeral. Delta refused but offered to fly me on bereavement terms, including no additional charge to reschedule my return flight. However, when I rescheduled my return flight to spend more time with family under the circumstances, Delta refused to waive the additional $35 charge. We are on a flight from New Orleans to LAX and all of the Delta comfort seets were blocked off from being purchased like they were full. When we got on the plane there were tons of rows open and I asked to buy a seat and Nelly the flight attendant became extremely condescending with me and some other passengers. Her whole goal was to put people in thier place and not trying to provide any answers. Zero costomer service. We travel extensively for work and I think that she is just unhappy and washed up but still no excuse. At any rate we were told we could exit the plane and try to buy one of the million open seats at desk but they joked that we might get left. At any rate we are all squished in a few rows while all these seats were empty. I have not flown on Delta in a few years and that was not for any particular reason. With my recent trip to the Gulf Coast (MS and Louisiana) I flew with them because they had the best rate for flights into the small Gulfport, MS airport and no fee for carry on. I have always regarded Delta as an airline that provides stellar service until my return flight last night. This was the worst customer service interaction experience I've ever had with any airline. My flight was scheduled to leave New Orleans to Atlanta where I would catch a connecting flight to Baltimore. At the gate in New Orleans I stood in line to ask the attendant if I could get a seat assignment for my connecting flight. She gave me a few moments of silence dazed look and finally replied I can't help you so get that done in Atlanta. I felt very dismissed and as if I was a burden to her. I'm not saying that everyone should be bubbly and cheerful but the sole purpose of your job is to assist the customers. As she announced zone 4 to board she stated that everyone in this zone must check their carry on luggage because there was not any over head space available on the plane. I was already worried I wouldn't make my connecting flight in Atlanta because we were leaving late so I highly doubted my bag would make that flight as well. We did not have time to take anything out of our bags because we were spontaneously told this at boarding time, and then rushed to board. Made it to Atlanta and ran to the train to get from concourse E to A for my connecting flight to Baltimore. I stand in line at the gate and when its my turn I did not get a greeting I got the same blank stare and sense of "what do you want" look from the attendant. I say hello and that my online check in states to see the desk at the gate to get an assigned seat. She quickly responds just look at the board. It would have at least been somewhat helpful to instruct which board she was referring too. The gentlemen behind me did not have a seat as well and he asked her what if we do not see our name. She coldly replied just board with zone 2. He and I both just boarded with zone 2. Way wait and possibly be without a seat. Made it to Baltimore at 12:30 am (with a 40 minute drive to Oxon Hill ahead of me to get home) and of course my luggage that I was forced to check at the gate in New Orleans did not make it. The icing on the cake was that there was actually plenty of overhead space on the plane for our bags so we were lied too prior to boarding the plane. I asked a flight attendant why would they do that and she said that they often do that when a flight is late and it helps to speed up the boarding process. I have received an email this morning that my bag was found at 10:20 am and that it should be delivered between 12:30 - 6:30pm today. My suggestions: 1. Delta please provide better customer service to your gate attendants and do a better job to ensure they are correctly engaging your customers. Customers ask questions because we need help. It is not right for the attendants to make any customer feel dismissed for asking a valid question. 2. Do not lie to your customers. If a flight is late arriving at the airport which makes the next flight departure late please make the announcement ahead of boarding so that customers can volunteer to check their bags to their final destination, and not force them to check their bag at the gate by lying to say there is no above head space when in fact there is. It makes no sense to force customers at the time that their zone is announced for boarding (and the very last zone). There is no time to remove personal valuable belongings as you are rushed to get on the plane. read more

I had a last minute trip I just had to make Veterans Day weekend 2017. A dear cousin of mine had passed away in a small town in South Carolina and I had to get to North Carolina to get my parents to the funeral. I show up to the Louis Armstrong airport after getting last minute tickets. No bags to check, so I used the self check in kiosk at the Delta Airlines area of the airport. It was so easy to check in! Get through the TSA (which was not that bad this trip) down Concourse D and to my gate just in the nick of time. Boarding was so easy! Staff was all friendly and everything was just so efficient about this trip, I was surprised when nothing went wrong! Delta Airlines made the beginning of the trip so smooth and easy, I am glad I picked them for this flight! And on this leg of the trip from New Orleans to Atlanta, there was a free beverage (unless you wanted beer, wine, or hard alcohol) and either a biscoff cookie or pretzels! read more

Yup! I like Delta better than United Airlines. Only sucky part was that I got to the airport 6 hours earlier and I wanted to go on an earlier flight, they said there's a $100 charge for any changes. I usually fly Virgin America but unfortunately they don't have a leg going from SD to NOLA. Virgin America always lets me hop on an early flight at no charge if there's room. On June 10, 2022. My 80 y/o mother, both my sisters, and myself showed up at the Delta Airline terminal at the Louis Armstrong airport to board flight # DL1486. New Orleans to JFK airport as the 1st leg of our Journey to Benin West Africa to celebrate my birthday and visit my niece. When we attempted to check in at the terminal. We were told we needed to provide the credit card the tickets were purchased with. I provided them with my Delta Airline American Express credit card. The agent that we could not board the plane as the card I provided was not the card used to pay for the trip. I tried to explain that the card I gave them was most definitely the card I used to pay for this trip as I only opened this Delta Amex card for this specific reason. After 25 mins and four different agents getting involved they could provide absolutely no response /explanation for what happened. One agent walked up in a burgundy blazer and stated "look!! I just got here so I don't know what your talking about" with an amazing amount of bad attitude. She informed me that I would have to repurchase the tickets if we wanted to board the plane. After planning this trip for a year and a half, I felt I had absolutely no choice as it was made clear we would not be allowed to board if I did not. When we got to the boarding gate I called American Express and confirmed that on April 10, 2022 I did indeed purchase all four tickets with the card I provided for the front desk agents and that I do not have an account with the card number the agents were asking me to provide. I went theAmex app and Delta airlines was DEFINITELY paid the monies for Four plane tickets on April 10 2022. The customer service representative from AMEX was absolutely outstanding. She asked me for approval to discuss my account with the Delta agent, then Proceeded to explain to Dana from delta that the mistake was made on their end and that I do not have the card they are saying I used to pay for this with. THIS WAS A MISTAKE ON DELTA AIRLINES END. however the agent explained that there really is nothing she can do about it and scribbled down the customer service number for delta airlines the same number one can just google. At this point we are about five agents in and NONE of them had a clue as to what to do, this speaks volumes about Delta Airlines lack of training. I ended up calling the customer service number three times and was left on hold for 40 mins all three times at which time the survey began to play. They put me on hold because they didn't want to deal with the problem. So then I tried the live chat feature on the Delta Airlines app. After 30 mins of questions that have nothing to do with compensation for the absolutely horrible experience cause by their mistakes or refunding my money for the double charge to my credit card. They explained that they would like to sit together, which is of no consequence to us as we wanted to seat together as well. The couple walked off and came back with a little rude and Sarcastic male flight attendant named Tauric , who Stated to my sister " I'm gonna need for you to return to your seat. She is explained that this was her seat and produced her boarding pass. He stormed off and retuned with the agent from the gate ( the one that was yelling at everyone "if you don't get in a single fine line I will not let anyone board the plane" in a real ghetto tone. He started speaking to us like we were criminals and threatened to remove her from the plane if she did not give up her seat next to us. He explained that because she is traveling alone and purchased her ticket as one person it's policy to move the single traveler. I paid for her ticket on the same card on the same day as the others so she was not a single traveler. AGAIN THIS IS BECAUSE OF THE DELTA AIRLINES MISTAKE!!!Wait it gets worst. After she moved to another seat the little Sarcastic male flight attendant returned and loudly apologized to the young WHITE couple for their inconvenience. I like Delta. I grew up a LAX child, with all it's hustle and bustle. Now we're a Louis Armstrong International family in New Orleans. Our entire often flys Delta and I especially like te location on the far end of our airport. It makes for an easy curb side pick up, drop offs. It's so much easier than picking up or dropping in the middle. Staff is always pleassant and I'm nice so they tend to be nice to me. Recently during my travel, I noticed that they have once again re-modeled their "end of terminal" coffee and bar area. However. terminal food is always way over priced for the quality. This isn't one of Delta's better locations. There's no SkyClub and only a few gates. For some reason, if you are early into NOLA, there's no one working. Additionally, full flights going out have some of Delta's worst gate agents and they are likely to be the root cause of delays. I'm not sure why Delta hasn't corrected their New Orleans issues as Flight attendants regularly complain about the location. Once you get past Delta, NOLA is a great destination! read more

My plane arrived late so to save time everyone's bag was a complimentary check-in. Can't complain with that. When I got to my seat I was surprised to find out how close the seats in front of me where. That wasn't fun. They provide complimentary non-alcoholic beverages for purchase. As long as you have the AMEX platinum there is not reason to not fly Delta. After years of flying budget airlines, having their agents at my disposal is absolutely mind altering. I LOVE Delta Airlines. Their customer service is the best out there, at least in the states. Most of their flights are extremely reliable as well. Check the "on time" percentages when booking flights. Atlanta is the huge southeastern hub for Delta, but I don't mind that either. ATL is busy, but the waiting times seem to be factored into the flight times so it's not an issue for making connections. With the recent software issues, Delta managed to get people where they were going with minimal downtime. They even paid for flights on other airlines to get people where they needed to be. Sign up for the automatic alerts so you will be notified of any scheduling changes. The app is also very handy while traveling. I never print out boarding passes anymore, and with the pre check-in feature, I only have to go near the ticketing counter if I am checking a bag. I love not having to stand in so many lines. Who wouldn't?! You should also consider all the perks that come along with a Delta Sky Miles American Express card. I accrue miles for all kinds of things, get priority boarding on flights, and free checked baggage. Nice benes! read more

#DeltaProud ??? This review is not intended to attack but is more of me seeking opinions on whether what We just experienced is fair. I purchased a set of round trip tickets for myself and girlfriend unfortunately I was unable to make my initial flight due to an unexpected hospital visit. I was able to book a one way ticket at a later time the same day. Today, on my return day, I arrived at DELTA in New Orleans where the kiosks were not working, went to a worker who put me in the special services line where we waited for 35 minutes along with 8 other travelers. There were only 2 team members working this line and both were moving so slowly that two women in line began to cry. Then one of the workers left and another staff member said she had a flight to go to but then we ALL saw her standing at a different part of the counter laughing on her phone. We ALL tried to speak to the manager who dismissed us and when we were finally seen, we were told that because we missed the initial flight that we had no return flight. We then had to pay $966.00 and wait 8 hours to board a new flight. The whole line missed their flights due to the attitude of the staff and them not knowing what they were doing . Is this fair? No one told us this information about the return flight, we were not emailed or contacted by the airline and I reviewed all of my emails and it does not say this ANYWHERE. To top that? Everyone was incredibly rude and passive aggressive towards everyone in the "special service" line and then at the terminal. Delta has proven to be the worst airline. read more

Please....in an effort to save others travelling to a funeral of someone they love and hold dearly, do NOT rely on the uncompassionate. As a result of many errors on Delta's part my husband and I were forcibly stuck and bounced around the Atlanta airport for 12 hours while we missed the family visitation for my deceased Grandfather in Omaha (whom I believe was the last survivor of the USS Stockton, WWII) The staff of Delta could not possibly have been less compassionate or helpful. There is no fixing the pain created by Delta's failure to fix a problem created on their part. He worked with us being bounced back and forth from American Airlines (who did not share the same attitude as him at all..) due to our bags making it onto a later Delta flight while we flew in on an American flight.
