Worst airline EVER !! Me and 3 others were supposed to fly out of New Orleans march 16th at 5:10am .. We got there at 2am ... they didn't open their ticket counter / baggage counter till 3:45am Not only that but they admitted they were short staffed and had all 5 lines converge into a single line in the middle which made it take 3x longer to get our bags dropped and get to TSA . Also I had pre requested wheel chair help because I was injured and couldn't walk at the time . The clerk at the counter told me . And this is an exact quote " sorry where short staffed today , we have too many call out s , your gonna have to deal with it your self " which they legally have to provide wheel chair assistance .. Well long story short we didn't get to the ticket counter because of their short staffing till right before 5am ... then through tsa and the flight had already taken off .. Their best option was to rebook us on another flight. The next day in the afternoon and we wouldn't arrive till almost midnight ... over 32 hours AFTER we were supposed to already be there ... this would leave just 1 full day for our small vacation so we said no thank you .. give us our refund because that is not acceptable .. But it was their short staffing that caused this issue in the first place . So I emailed them and requested they cover the cost of our non refundable Airbnb because this was caused by what the even consider Controllable issues . They could have atleast offered what they give to those who need to be bumped to another flight considering this was their fault . Which is $2150 per person . But they basically told us to deal with it and accept that they ain't doing jack sh*t for us , they are the absolute worst Not to mention the wheelchair assistance issue . My suggestion is to NEVER fly Southwest Airlines,.. they are terrible and have garbage customer service !!!! read more

POS MADE ME CHECK A CARRY ON DUE TO "lack of space" all b 31-c we're forced to check bags. If in line, pulled out of line and gad to go to counter to check. I chad to repack my roller and carry on due to fragile items in roller -- we all know how checked luggage is handled .. SWA had a large following for free first checked bag. Ppl are not now going to pay yo check .... So no one is checking... all are carrying on. And now.... No WiFi service. read more

Seating was prompt. They offer the usual beverages & snacks. Plane could be a bit cleaner. There were crumbs on the floor & seat. Staff was friendly. They have wifi if you are a rewards member. They also have charging ports on the back of the seats (near the trays). I do wish they would go back to the unassigned seats. read more

This was my first time in the newly updated terminal a lot of Restaurant choices, plenty of room friendly people, TSA and Clear move fast. My luggage beat me to the carousel. It was already spinning around when I got there. Everything you can ask for in an airport. read more

Southwest Airlines - Airlines Near Me - Kenner, Louisiana

I don't usually fly Southwest but they had the best price to New Orleans this past weekend. They fly out of Hobby and one thing for sure the offsite parking situation is much better than IAH. I usually park at Parking Spot covered parking. Great service on their end. I sue the Southwest app to check in and boarding passes. The plane was clean and the boarding process went well. I would recommend them for further flights. read more

We usually take Southwest Airlines to New Orleans as it's the most affordable, but it always requires a stop when departing from the Bay Area. I wish there would be a nonstop option from Southwest as I think United has the only one and has a monopoly on this route. Flights are on time and seating/baggage policy is great for families. Never had an issue with connecting flights either, no complaints. We try to make the best of a stopover by picking one with a nice Sapphire lounge like San Diego or Phoenix. read more

I generally like Southwest, however on a flight this morning and empty rows and seats everywhere so I move to the row where there isnt a seat in front of me and stretch out. Flight attendants (multiple) tell me i have to move back to my seat where the row is full because I didn't pay for the seat I moved to, so dumb. I've been flying Southwest for years. They get worse as the years go by. Most delays I've seen out of any airline! Not to mention, the removal of the free bag policy. Which also causes delays because now they have to force people to check their bags at the gate FOR FREE because there isn't enough bin space. I'm so sick of Southwest! read more

Proceed with caution with Southwest Airlines MSY airport Flight #3678 On May 18th, 2025 approximately 10am, I was boarding Southwest Airlines to return home to Nashville from New Orleans. I was denied pre-boarding due to not meeting the 2 questionnaire qualifications. 1. Do you need assistance to board the aircraft? for example, wheelchair assistance, the use of a cane or other mobility device, etc. - the question was subjective. Could I use a wheelchair? a. Yes, I could use a wheelchair. Could I use a cane? Yes, I could use a cane. I was clearly walking slowly with a limp and was experiencing a great deal of pain but I wanted to push through with whatever energy I had that day to return home. Matter of fact, my significant other was walking me to my seat to ensure I was safe. Does that not count as a "cane" 2. Do you have a specific seating need in order to accommodate your disability? a. I answered yes. Because I do not fly often, my family wanted to ensure I wasn't overworking myself trying to get home. I do not fly often and did not know that pre-boarding was an option for my condition. Quite frankly the whole ordeal was embarrassing, and I didn't want to cause a scene, but my family insisted on getting an explanation and was concerned for my wellbeing. Upon asking for more clarification to explain to my family why I was denied pre-boarding, Southwest Airlines customer service (manager) rudely responded that what he answered was clear, when I was in fact did not understand and the manager made no attempt to deescalate the situation. The level of customer service presented that day was not because of my doing to deserve to be treated less than a human/person. Shame on you for subjecting someone to this level of embarrassment and falsifying the event that took place. I would also like to note that your staff allowed outside factors to determine my disability. When I reported the situation to through Southwest Airlines website, they provided a false narrative of the event. The negativity that they were receiving/experiencing was from the family. Not with me the handicap person. The entire time I was exhibiting confusion and pain. I was experiencing a lot of pain standing and was on the verge of tears and had to end the conversation with no clarification for me to tell my family who were upset over the situation. It is now been 10 years since my horrific accident and I am now able to travel and this is the treatment that is given to people with disability? I have a total knee replacement, an ankle fusion, and both of my arms are also broken. Never in my life have I ever been asked these questions or was comfortable understanding to answer the questions with a room full of strangers. Since my disability I have made accommodation to ensure I would not get trampled by a group of people/strangers and I have made arrangements to arrive to the MSY Airport at a reasonable time for my condition. When I was at the BNA airport I was approved for pre-boarding. That day I was wearing shorts with scares up and down my left leg and was exhibiting limited mobility. When I was at the New Orleans airport I was wearing leggings that covered my scares and was exhibiting limited mobility. Is that not considered discrimination? Please note a Southwest Airline staff from the MSY Airport who scans boarding passes saw how much I was struggling and hand gestured me to come speak with her. She allowed me to the front of the line, and I was able to board the plane with the other pre-boarding passengers. What does that say about Southwest Airline customer service? If I was such a volatile person, why would one of the Southwest Airline staff allow me to the front of the line. How does one not feel profiled when other staff members see how much I was struggling with getting around. I am filing a complaint against Southwest Airline for discrimination. read more

I have flown a lot lately. Mostly Southwest, some on Frontier and also on Delta. I enjoy Southwest for the price when flying with more than a carry on bag of luggage. I am 6'5", so extra leg room is more than a simple convenience. I can't sit comfortably in a standard legroom plane row. Therefore, I always pay for the early boarding and cross my fingers that there is an exit row still available when it's my turn to board. Most of their flight attendants have decades of experience and are very helpful with an extra bag of nuts if asked nicely. I would say, however, they are no longer a low price airline when not the price included, two checked bags. They have become equal in overall experience and price to Delta and United. read more

Overall I normally love SWA, but they really need to have a better organized system for baggage check-ins. If you are gonna have a lot of early morning flights, then you need to schedule a lot more employees to help cover those flights. The line to check in bags were out the doors. Also they didn't have enough kiosk to print your own boarding passes and baggage labels. So you have two long lines to stand in before you can even get to the counter. Also they had no one controlling the lines or directing people so you could be standing in the wrong line and wasting times. So even after all that I was able to check in my two bags before the cut off time for my flight. Come to find out my bags never was put on the flight. So I had to experience 10hrs in my destination city (STL) with no items at all. No clothes no nothing. read more

They will get you there, sometimes on time, sometime not. I love the cattle boarding and the no frills accommodations. I try to fly here as often as I can do to the direct flights to places I like to visit, most importantly the price. Best value for your buck. It's becoming harder and harder to travel post Covid. All flights are full and SWA has discontinued direct flights to several cities, making it a full day of travel nightmares to go anywhere these days. I was lucky getting from BWI to NOLA on a non-stop flight in November. On time and uneventful flight. Getting home was another story. I booked the only reasonable time for a non-stop back to Baltimore and my flight was showing on time all day. Until I arrived at the airport. Then it was late. Then it was later. And later. Finally! A departure time and update for us to start lining up. We did, we boarded, we waited. After about half an hour onboard waiting to take off, we were informed the plane could not leave due to a still leaking fuel pipe. We got off and went to another gate. And waited. And waited. I then heared 11 names being called to come to the gate agent. Apparently they had us a plane, but needed to kick off the 11 passengers on that plane that were headed somewhere else. They all got hotel vouchers for the night. We (146) of us got a plane! It was DIRTY and gross, but we were just happy to be getting home. What was to be a Baltimore arrival at 10:20 PM turned into an after midnight arrival. The nice thing was we got an apology email from SWA a few days later with travel vouchers for $100 each. During the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic Southwest Airlines GETS IT RIGHT! - middle seats unoccupied - modified drink & food service - masks distributed, if needed - FREE INFLIGHT MOVIES - pick you seat, no assigned seats - friendly airline stewardess SOOOOO many great things to say, I just had to cover the highlights. I love this airlines willingness to operate in these terrifying times & still provide quality customer service. If a plane could be considered cool then the Max 8 is just that! I had the opportunity to fly on the Max 8 during my return flight from Phoenix to New Orleans. The use of blue and red LED mood lighting creates unique and cool vibe. The seating is still the 3-3 layout and still no USB ports (what gives?! ). There is something different about the overhead bins but I can't put my finger on it, maybe it's just the aesthetic. I did notice a mirror in the center of the overhead bins to check to see if something has been left behind, not sure it'd that's an upgrade. It was a beautiful airplane, and the flight attendants seemed very proud of it. I observed several passengers taking pictures and videos of the upgraded cabin. read more

MSY to SMF Smooth flight back to SMF with a 2-hour layover in Los Angeles. Flight was on time but we weren't fast enough at the 24-hour pre check-in and got boarding Group B2 and B3. It's always a game at check-in where the hubby and I always try to get in the A Group. No change of gates and no hurricane delays although hurricane Dorian was slowly approaching the Bahamas and Florida at the time. Boarded from Gate B5 and was still able to get good seating still close to the front plus I got my window seat. The flight attendants are always friendly when we fly Southwest and sometimes they are funny. Can't remember some of their funny lines in this trip. One round of snacks and drinks were provided. Wheelchair assist sucks at Southwest MSY airport. You need to arrive at least a couple hours ahead of your flight because they never have wheelchair assistance available. Or you have to wait more than an hour. So If you're in a rush good luck. read more

I used to fly Southwest regularly but have seized to some degree because of repeated delays and cancellations. Here in New Orleans... in a matter of 6 hours, my flight ahas been delayed over 3 hours. The sad part is, from my experience, they'll cancel. I believe I've learned my lesson and will not fly southwest air. I only recommend this company because of low fares.. guess that get a passenger mediocre service. Good luck ! read more

On our way to Disney with my sister her two sons and her best friend I'm the tag along. I'm out numbered Southwest has always been one of our favorite airlines. We can check two bags and still bring a carry on with our purse Southwest also allows you to change your flight with no charge or fees attached I have never done this so it is hard for me to believe it is true Sitting waiting for my flight and looking for an outlet to charge my phone I found one wall outlet that had one plug vacancy available. There are some chairs that have been updated to have outlets to use your phone or laptop iPad Kindle etc But if you don't get to it soon enough then you are out of luck We are in gate B5 read more

Southwest Airlines typically is my go-to airline when I fly so it's no surprise I flew them to and from MSY this past weekend, however while I love SWA, this area wasn't my favorite. When entering MSY after a long (very long) weekend in the French Quarter we noticed how long the check-in line was. Unfortunately for me, my friend had a bag to check so we decided to go outside where they had the luggage check which was much shorter of a line than inside- not sure why folks didn't take advantage of that. They had three employees working the curbside so we dropped his bag off and he printed both of us off our boarding passes which was great. The terminal where SWA is held isn't the nicest at all. Two bathrooms, no real key eateries unless you count Jamba Juice or Subway. Seating in the terminal seemed to be limited or there were just too many flights going out at once. One big annoyance is that SWA kept changing out gate. Although the terminal isn't huge, it's still annoying to have to pick up and move, only to move again. Three times overall. The gate agents kept us informed of the flight status only towards the end of our two-hour delay, letting us know when the plane should arrive and that it did arrive- the sign of people walking into the terminal off of the plane was also a good indication... And eventually we boarded, took off, and landed safely. The flight was fine, even with a few bumps. I'll still always travel on SWA. I love them. They are simple and easy to deal with. SWA out of MSY airport just maybe isn't the best out of all the airports they fly in and out of. read more

Just flew on flight 1783 from LAX-MSY. My family hag a grate experience due to the flight attendants and staff, one attendant in particular was fantastic. He helped every one with all their needs. This no frills airline was the perfect choice this summer as we were traveling with our newest family member "little dog" A fellow Yelper explained how to navigate their booking area and search for fares. Great if you can flex a few days of travel. I scored two non-stop round trip tix, MSY to LAX for 527$ wow! 2 bags included, cool! Traveling with your furry friend? no trouble, but an extra 99$ at check in(per way). Little Dog rode in a carry case stowed under the seat.....Southwest terminal is nice here in MSY. complete with a jazz band. LAX still under construction, but still is really large with tons of stores and places to grab a bite. Download the entertainment app on your phone or tablet in advance...movies are 5$ each ......even with their boarding system, our trip posed to be stress free. First I need to give 5 stars to Southwest counter staff. Friendly & helpful. I went to counter two times as my flight kept getting delayed. First a 1/2 hour, then an hour. This made it difficult to connect with next leg of my flight. Due to hour delay, the second visit to the counter my connecting flight was rescheduled a later time. One star for whomever is responsible for the various delays. This is ridiculous, initial plan was to arrive at 8 pm to final destination, now I arrive past 11 pm. This is so ridiculous! Not happy with southwest especially getting a flight canceled and not able to rebook on the link they sent. Then they are not answering their phones it rings and rings and then your disconnected. If they are going to cancel a flight that was paid for then their link should work to rebook and they should answer their phones. So I go to rebook a new flight and none are available until after the 1st of January. Lesson learned won't be flying with southwest anymore. This company sent me a message saying my flight was canceled and now no phones are being answered or flights available. Yep not flying with this company anymore. read more

Decent Stop in the Southwest Franchise at Louis Armstrong Airport in New Orleans (NOLA) SITREP I have to give mad props to the SouthWest crew who took me into and out of this terminal arm the NOLA airport. Thank you for great flights! THE SETUP However, I think the gate-keepers were a bit terse & unhelpful in locating misplaced luggage, in trying to deal with our delayed plane, or in suggesting alternative flights to deal with their SouthWest scheduling snafus & overbooking to begin with. My first time to fly Southwest and I've already decided it will be my last. The lady at New Orleans gate 9 was extremely bothered that I interrupted her with a question. She rolled her eyes at me when I asked how the boarding number system worked. I'd never flown Southwest so I was a bit confused by the way they have people line up. She was completely unhelpful. The worst airline service on the market besides spirit...3/9/22 through 3/13/22 I spent this entire duration cancelled and delayed in Kansas City International airport. The other 15 hours was spent at New Orleans international airport with 13 delayed flights. 10 plus hours of them. No one even offered me a room voucher or food or anything. Flying anymore can be taxing with American and delta but they will give you lodging assistance in these cases not argue and talk to you like you don't matter after. There were only a few days of weather issues the rest is staffing issues. Why is the airline contracting flights out when it appears as though you are double and triple booking the pilots and staff. Meaning the consumer absorbs all the headache and expense of poor management. Well thank you for the reminder of why I hate flying with this airline. Probably the worst flight experience in 10 years. Very pathetic I'll never fly with this airline again. It can be cheaper but all the bullshit you are forced to absorb will add up quickly. Save yourself the headache and go with delta or American or better yet Drive. You'll get there faster and won't be held hostage in the process. read more
