First and foremost, the staff is excellent...from the agents to the food, from the cleaning crew to the bartender. A wide variety of food selections, lemon water and a sophisticated soda machine. This club is spotless and the restrooms are clean and refreshed frequently. read more

I have not been on an aircraft with less leg room that their 737 800/900. Can you please get rid of the check bag fees so that passengers stop bringing a large roller bag, backpack and a purse on? Doesn't the loading and unloading of an aircraft have any impact on your revenue? Take a row out and give an inch. Maybe incentivize gate check? Some would gladly take it for a few hundred miles. Big safety miss. These two passengers never put their bags under their seats. I feel for the flight crew. You get passengers pretty pisses and they get to deal with it. They are troopers. If I could give zero stars I would. The woman I dealt with at bag check was indescribably rude and disrespectful with no human decency whatsoever. My bag was literally only a lb overweight which they usually ignore, and she made me open it right there and take stuff out which I then had to carry in my hands all the way through security and onto the plane. Seems utterly pointless since these objects were going on the very same plane. I almost missed my flight because of her officious attitude. Only reason it was so heavy in the first place is because they only allow one small carry on in economy now so I was forced to pack my laptop in my checked bag. The flight itself sucked too. The plane was FREEZING with a frigid draft coming from somewhere, and now I feel like I'm getting sick. I was also starving and they don't give snacks, only juice. I've never once been on a flight where they don't at least pass out pretzels or biscoff. read more

I was very unhappy when they took my carry-on into luggage right on a plane. I was told there was no room in overhead bins. There were more people being forced to put their carry-ons into luggage. And unfortunately, this is not the first time happening to me. At the end of the flight I noticed passengers were putting more than 1 item into an overhead bin. It should be regulated somehow, this is how they run out of space. 2 stars for employees not losing their cool dealing with many unhappy customers. read more

Flew from the Cayman Islands to Houston. Before the flight it showed that there were thunderstorms in Houston. Despite this, our pilot decided to still take off and did not bring extra fuel. Due to the thunderstorms that the pilot already knew about we were forced to divert to New Orleans. It has now been 5 hours since our flight left, we are sitting here and we are not allowed to leave. I missed my connecting flight and the whole time the pilot has done a horrible job of informing us of what is going on. I am never flying United again and I would recommend that everyone else avoids United at all costs. read more

Security was pretty fast but not for a good reason. They were rushing. Let me explain. We had two flights, first one was fine, but it was delayed and they made us wait maybe half an hour. The second flight had technical issues and was delayed by like an hour and a half. We got to our destination finally, New Orleans and we headed over to baggage claim. All was going fine until almost none of us could find our suitcases. Only my mom found hers. It had been maybe fifteen minutes at baggage claim now and no signs of our suitcases. We went to go talk to the baggage claim services and the lady working there was SO UNBELIEVABLY SLOW! She was so annoying. But eventually we figured out our bags had got put on THE WRONG FLIGHT! SIX BAGS WERE MISSING!!! Some bags were in San Francisco, some were in Ontario, CA, and some were in Denver, Colorado! And that brings me back to them rushing. The reason we didn't get them is because they were rushing! So, it said they could get the bags delivered to our hotel by tomorrow morning. We kept tracking them, and then out of nowhere it said they weren't going to be coming until like SIX TO SEVEN PM!!!! So some of our group went to the airport to pick our suitcases up. I don't typically fly this airline (because of poor service and routinely being late to take-off). However, recent business travels to Houston gave me the opportunity to re-discover United Airlines (UAL). I had direct flights on three separate occasions between New Orleans (MSY) and Houston (IAH) over the course of six (6) weeks. New Orleans Terminal: Check-in is a breeze in Terminal D, which UAL shares with one other major airline. The UAL kiosks are plentiful and more modern than others at the airport. Each time I've flown out, there have always been both available kiosks and staff to assist me. Most importantly, there have been no lines...score! I seem to always have the same gate too, which has helped reduce travel stress. The UAL area is typically clean and has some modular seating and charging stations that are very helpful to accommodating lots of travelers with smart devices. Finally, all three of my flights left ON TIME! That's a huge WIN for this airline, especially considering its track record years ago. Houston Terminal: My experiences on the return flights are nearly identical: efficient, lots of modern kiosks and available staff; clean gate area with plentiful seating and charging stations. Overall: Their attendants at the check-in desks and the gates have consistently been polite and helpful. Their flight attendants have been pleasant and eager to serve. Kudos to UAL for changing the narrative of their past service. Great on-time departures with great staff. read more

Keep in mind they work in an airport and expect all these people to know everything when every airport is different. If you don't do well with people don't work customer service. I always enjoy being serviced by the United staff at MSY. For the most part, everyone is helpful and you are greeted with a smile. The check in area has several kiosks and there are always several desk agents waiting to assist you if needed. I am deducting a star because there is no area to check bags outside. You have to find someone to help you bring everything to the counter or lug it yourself. read more

United Airlines at MSY (the New Orleans Airport), has no United Club in case you are looking for one here. I flew United from LAX to MSY and then from MSY back to LAX at the end of my vacation. There aren't too many great food choices in this terminal and the employee whom my husband spoke to, to double check that we were in the right place for our flight back home, was not very friendly in her response to us. But the airline crew on our flight from MSY to LAX were friendly. We brought our little dog with us on this visit (cost is $125 per way, for more information in case you want to bring your little friend with you on your next travel, https://www.united.com/web/en-US/content/travel/animals/in_cabin.aspx). One of the flight attendants saw our little girl's in our soft padded kennel and asked us who is this when we first walked into the plane. Then when we arrived and walked out, the same flight attendant remembered our dog's name and said good bye to her. She also did check to see how she did (which she did very well and will travel with her again). Service on this flight was good. Flight attendants were nice and provided drink and snack service quickly. They also came by a few times to offer water after drink service. I don't normally like flying with United, but this flight crew did make this flight much more bearable. read more

United airlines is always my preferred airline for the last 12 years or so and I have been platinum or 1K for most of that time. The airport service for United at MSY does lack a bit. They are not the most helpful or polite and it doesn't seem to matter is you're 1K and first class or a first time flyer with no status, and that's not in a good way. I also checked a firearm and the girl checking me in had to get 2 different managers before they knew what to do. A little surprised. I'm a city with this much crime I can't be the only CCW around. Lol. The flight and terminal are ok but they are very limited on food selections so your best bet is to eat before you get here. Enjoy! read more

The tiny pretzel bag is so 1990s. Delta gives options now and has elegance in their variety. More of a global experience. You guys toss a bag of pretzels around like i give my dog it's dry food in the morning - it's just something I have to do in life. When My wife ordered champagne, the label was ripped apart and soggy. As the flight attendant whipped out the bottle like a Pittsburgh happy hour bar tender still reeling from last night's bender. She simply said "here... first ones on us." Nothing pleasant in the exchange, just the look of "FU, now leave me alone." We took a picture because the whole experience was ironic in a shitty-bar-rust-belt-experience-kind-of-way. The WiFi wouldn't work at all on the flight to Hawaii, and on the way back, it would work for some time at first. I lost dinner to my wife because she's cynical and was right - the internet wasn't going to work. So now I have to fork over $150 for some swank dinner in the French Quarter. I booked a flight from MKE to MSY for July 4-7, 2017. I flew economy both ways and always fly with a very compact carry-on. My travel companion and I flew with American Airlines into MSY with zero problems with luggage requirements. We paid the exact same fair for the outbound flight with American as we did with our return flight with United. I've flown with United before and have never had an issue. This time around I was forced to check a carry-on, as well as pay an additional charge to do so. Had I known at the time of booking that United charges for carry-on luggage for "basic economy" I would've chosen to fly with a different airline for my return flight. My travel partner and I each travel multiple times per year and have never been forced to check a carry-on, especially at a cost to us! We were in the final boarding group and I have multiple pictures showing plenty of overhead room for luggage available. We both will not be flying with United again, nor will we be advising others to do so. In the day and age of steep airline competition I don't think United can afford to get away with this. There are plenty of airlines that will charge less or equal to for an equivalent flight with the same on-board experience that will not force, or charge for, carry-on check-ins (some with FREE checked bags altogether.) United should take note, they should be offering as much as they can to customers that continue to fly with them. read more

Despite all the bad press, United is still the airline of my choice. This is my 2nd time being at this airport and both times (arrival and departure), United Airlines has been quick and efficient in getting me checked in and checking my luggage in. The lady at the front desk was very courteous and helpful and moved at a fast enough rate in order for me to make it through the gate. The bad press has not impacted my trip personally at all and I will continue to fly with United as long as they continue to treat me well. read more

After greeting their team at the kiosk, I asked about gate-checking my bag. J.R. explained that it needed to be checked in with a fee. On previous United flights (and their partners), I gate-checked this baggage so I was confused on the lack of consistency. Quickie: -- Poor customer service And then...? United staff failed to clarify on the lack of consistency on gate-checking here. There was a sense of applying rules based more on discretion rather than objectivity. What a shame; there is no lounge available in this beautiful terminal in MSY. The lounge is still under construction. We were expecting to spend our time in the comfort of the lounge while waiting for our plane. There is no indication in online sites that it was still being built. read more

United had a deal with a major credit card company to award a certain amount of miles if a specific sum of money was spent on the credit card in "X" amount of time. When it came down to it, they did not want to honor the deal. Not only had the terms been fulfilled, but the money spent on the credit card in the allotted time was more than double what they had required. After being shifted around from department to department, and a total of 4 hours on hold. Mind you this wasn't a phone call duration of 4 hours, but ON HOLD for 4 hours. This is why I don't trust credit card deals. Ridiculous. read more

Charging someone $225 for one checked bag is absolutely criminal. Especially when their ticket was only $208... But for the woman to laugh in my face and be like "You know you're going to miss your flight right???" when I'm in the middle of the airport going through my luggage in tears trying to figure out how I'm going to lose 25lbs of belongings...That is just low. Needless to say, I forfeited my ticket since I couldn't get my luggage below 50lbs and because I refuse to give any more business to a company that treats their customers like such garbage. We were stuck AFTER boarding due to weather issues in Houston. Tough situation and we sat on the plane for 2 1/2 hours. The crew was impressive. Immediately got water and juice for everyone. Passed out a few snacks. Tried to calm down the overly high maintenance passengers and kept a positive attitude the entire time. Weather isn't within their control. How they react and respond is within their control and they did both very well. read more

THEY never speak good english. my recent booking was upgraded to first class so that we could sit together. the quote given to me? was for single flights only when I was booking for two. the total price she gave me was misunderstood, and I ended up bouncing checks on my account due to the price she misquoted me. I had to have her repeat what she was saying about four times, and ask her to talk slower. I still didn't understand her. When your charging someone for two tickets, you should give the total price for both tickets since they both are being charged together. seeing two separate charges for the same ticket? was misleading. from here on out when I have to call you, I will ask for someone who speaks english. until I get someone who does. its very frustrating. to think I waited over 20 minutes to book that flight / upgrade, the to see this two days later was very misleading. I tried to book this online and it didn't work. I went the distance to get this taken care of, and just want to reiterate that you need to give the entire total to someone when they are using a card. Hey United! Way to really screw it all up for a whole bunch of people trying to get out of Newark tonight. Not only did your first plane not arrive on time getting folks out when they could. Then because of the rain, you locked everyone in for a every 40 minute wait and delay tactic you people call an 'updates'. But the best part of your awful unbearable customer service is that after 7 hours of delays, you cancel our flight! 7 hours!!! I couldn't be half way to New Orleans via car or better yet- I shouldn't have flown Southwest or American!! Then after a subway and a train, I get home 2 hours later to see that you've rebooked me on a flight at 6 am the next day. I of course only know about this flight because I looked at my phone, in your shit app to try and get my refund. No notifications or call or anything to alert me that YOU'VE rebooked me!! How cheap and convenient you are to wait until we all gave up and went home. This is after I was told that the ONLY option wouldn't be until Sunday. So now my direct flight that you've jerked around has turned into some crap shoot you've probably over-booked with a layover in Chicago! This is the worst experience and best example of terrible customer service! I'm not really sure who as to whom this review is actually directed, but my warning is to people who do not have or do not like to travel with their tablets on the plane. Some United flights no longer have televisions or even radio stations for passengers to listen to. We took a 7 hr flight from Honolulu to Houston with ZERO in-flight entertainment. I didn't DIE as a result of this, but I'm also easily amused and/or constantly pondering the cosmos, so I found myself entertained nonetheless. Folks who are not so pensive may feel freakin frustrated on such a flight. On our connecting United flight, my husband and I were NOT asked if we wanted a beverage! To the staff's credit, they did serve our kids across the aisle from us. I found it odd though that the gentleman behind my kids got served and we did not. Just saying!! Btw, we were about 2-3 rows from the very back of the plane if that means anything. read more

We had a small dispute about our flights and after we decided to not worry about the problem any more they proceeded to gossip about us and our family members while we were checking our bags. It was honestly terrible and we had hardly an hour left to go through security because they ignored us at the kiosks for so long. When we approached them they were very short and rude. Flying from Phoenix to Houston another passenger got violently I'll and vomited all over me. My neck and shirt were drenched in vomit as was my seat and floor next to me. The attendants sprayed sometime to cover smell, took me back and poured tonic water on my shirt to try and wash out vomit. Floor was covered with paper towels and they wiped seat with another towel. They also gave me a few handi wipes. I was able to change into a t shirt but still covered and smelling of vomit I had to run in Houston to connect to another flight. My compensation from united was a handiwipe to take with me and a half sized can of pringles.when I emailed customer service I did not get a response. Way to go united. read more
