This is the second time in a week that my Delta flight has been seriously delayed. The first flight was 4:35 delayed arriving at 2:40 a.m. Today it is now expected to be more than two hours delayed. The airline is terrible at communicating the delays and the customer service person is clueless. The poor communication appear to be an attempt to prevent us from seeking alternative flights on competing airlines. It is now 3 1/2 hours and still waiting. read more

This past Saturday (07/20/24) in Seattle we fought through long lines at security to reach the Delta Airlines gate only to be told that our flight did not have a pilot assigned. So we sat and watched Delta bump our flight 4 times while they searched for a pilot. Finally Delta canceled the flight around 8:30pm, so we asked for a refund and for them to find us another flight and/or a hotel. But the gate agent said she was not authorized to help beyond a few $12 meal vouchers. By then it was too late to get a hotel room and the next flight was $3000 AND Sunday night. When went to baggage claim to at least retrieve our checked luggage, Delta could not find that either. So we spent Saturday night in the airport with everyone else that Delta stranded which included parents with young children, disabled people, and the elderly. The whole time Delta claimed our suitcases were among several hundred they had sitting on the floor of the baggage claim area. So I spent the night looking through those. Delta offered a customer 'service' person who would help you locate your bags, although the line to speak to them was literally quarter mile long. My wife stood in line several times until Delta's customer 'service' person went home to get some sleep. When they returned on Sunday, she fruitlessly stood in the line again only to have the Delta rep talk down to her and say our bag would be available in 4-6 hours. We learned on Sunday afternoon our missing suitcase had been on Delta's aircraft that entire time. We finally made it home via another carrier on Tuesday and as of today (July 25), still no refund from Delta and no apology. I do love Delta for flying, it's my preferred airline. I am one of those who takes a carryon and waits for the announcement to have free checked bags at the gate, especially if I have other checked bags. I prefer not to wrestle a bag in and out of the overhead. This gate/airport however- they offer the service but don't take the bag from you right away, instead they tell you to drop it at the door of the plane upon boarding. We recently took a trip from our flights were both extremely aggravating. We pre-ordered our food and when the flight attendant got to our aisle she only had 1meal preordered for us and she was out of everything besides an order of bread pudding. Disgusting! The flight attendant was quite rude about the entire thing my wife even showed her the charge of the two meal purchase but she was not budging. She attempted to offer multiple packages of snacks from first class but by this point I was ticked. On our flight home I don't even know where to start. My wife was a torn ligament in her knee so it takes her a while to get down the jetway. The door agent was unfortunately alone at the Delta counter and she was overwhelmed with people asking questions. The plane boarding took a backseat the plane was not boarded properly. Delta was to concerned about one passenger and the crew with the passenger. Finally someone from within the plane came to board passengers as a result my wife was rushed down the jetway as everyone was boarded at the same time. It was a cluster. The ENTIRE flight the entire flight crew was more concerned about this one passenger and the their crew that everyone else's needs were second. The pilot even came out an spoke to the passenger. Then when we landed everyone involved with this one passenger came barging through the aisle as if they were the only ones trying to make a connection. Delta employees, from check in to flight crew, are really good. I am so impressed with them, especially knowing how poorly they are paid. I especially liked my last flight crew, I wish I was allowed to smack fellow passengers. Why is it a federal crime to punch another passenger? If they are holding up the flight I really think I should be able to strike them. Again I digress. Like the competition, Delta planes are just too uncomfortable, too expensive, with too much waiting. We have used Delta to fly to Italy, France and Spain from Portland and have had excellent experience using them. We travel economy in main cabin and prefer to sit in the two seats (aisle/window) of the Airbus 300 configuration. The food is barely edible and even ordering special meals does not help. It is a long flight but the staff is helpful and friendly. And of all the airlines we prefer them. We would avoid their partner Air France because going in and our of Charle deDaule is a challenge and they are unhelpful. read more

Kind of disappointed in Delta. We've had such great experiences with them in the past. This one was a real dud. First, they changed our flights and sat us in different rows. We called to ask for a change to sit together. They can't do that, ask at airport. We ask for the change when we checked in at the airport. They can't do it, ask at the gate. We asked at the gate. They tell us someone will ask the occupants we are sitting next to if they'd be willing to change seats and let us know. They never did this. Know how we know that? Once on the plane we asked the steward if we could sit together. He said to take the seats assigned, and when the guest occupying the other seat arrives, he will ask them is they would consider changing. One of the two was happy to move. Her itinerary had been changed by Delta too and she had no idea why they would split us up instead of putting her into the single seat. No one at the gate told her of our request. She found out on the plane. SMH. The change in itinerary had us leaving earlier in the day, and arriving home later in the evening. We were up around 6am, not too bad, and reached home at 3am the next day. It started out on a low note having to struggle just to sit near each other, and ended on a low note by getting us home so very late. The high note in this story is our steward, Richard. We had first class tickets. On the first flight, lunch service was provided. Bottles of water were waiting for us when we were seated. We were given three meal choices. Throughout the flight he checked in on us to be sure we had everything we needed. Sadly, on the second flight there was not even a beverage service. Just sit down and lets go. I suppose it's been a long day for them too. Last flight of the day the staff don't have much left in them to give. And in case I'm not the only one who wasn't aware, Delta only allows First Class International customers to use their lounges. There were four Delta lounges in the Detroit airport and we were not allowed to us any of them. Found out lounges were not available to us in Seattle. The signage at the Seattle airport did not specify that we were to check in at a particular spot, and when we went to check in we were told *after we had our boarding passes that we should have been at a different spot. How was that at all helpful? We hadn't been standing on line for long minutes. Just walked right up to the counter. She could have, and should have pointed us to the correct spot right then. Again SMH. Well, that's my tragic little story. We were really looking forward to this flight, our first time flying first class, and Delta really screwed that up for us. The price of the ticket was not worth a couple hours of excellent service and more leg room when the rest of the time we felt jerked around. I've been flying Delta for years, in fact I've been flying many airlines for many years and something I've noticed is that as time goes on I'm flying less and less of a variety of airlines. In general I'm just getting downright picky. Perhaps it's that I'm getting cantankerous in my old age, or maybe it's how my travel budget has dramatically improved from my student days; either way I'm willing to put up with less and less when it comes to unpleasant travel. Delta has been a longtime solid for me. I frequently find reasonably discounted rates for coach even if they aren't the bare bottom cheapest. I rarely have trouble with lost luggage on this airline, though the fact that they charge for bags makes me scowl. Of all the cancelled and delayed flights I've experienced, Delta has rarely been among them. Perhaps most importantly is that I feel like service is always pleasant and an enjoyable experience. On our most recent trip, what prompted me to think of reviewing the airline, was a flight attendant who just really went above and beyond to give my little sister and I a delightful five hour flight. He had us laughing every time he came by, kept us from getting the shakes by bringing us the adult beverages we ordered to start our celebratory trip, and was wonderfully pleasant to everyone he interacted with. Our flight back also had excellent customer service. On a separate side of things we additionally have a friend of ours who flies for Delta and we've heard they have excellent benefits and treat their employees well. This always makes me happy to hear and makes me proud to be a customer. read more

This is my third and final issue in a row with delta because I will not be booking through them again nor will I ever say a good thing about this airline to any of my friends or family. I cannot remember the last time I had a good travel experience through this airline. We landed in JFK with a connection that we had 48 minutes to get to. What should have happened is when the flight attendants noticed we were going to be on the tarmac for a while they should have looked to see if there were any connections that would be jeopardize if the process didn't move quickly. When I noticed they weren't going to make any announcements I rang my call button. I knew we weren't in a position for them to come to us but I figured they could check the seat map and see that we had a tight connection. 15 minutes went by with out any announcement or acknowledgment we were going to be at risk of missing our flight if they didn't deplane quickly. I rang my call button again. Not expecting someone to come to me but just some sort of acknowledgment of the position we were in. Another 10 minutes go by and still nothing. At this point I did what I could to get to the front of the plane to get off as soon as I could but people weren't so willing to let us to the front with out a proper announcement. The flight attendants did not make any effort or announcement on the intercom on our landing flight about our tight connection to at least give us the courtesy to have a chance to make it to our flight. (Which if we didn't have to wait 18 minutes to deplane after the doors opened, we would have absolutely made it on our flight) We got to our gate 4 minutes after the doors closed. After getting off the plane, I ended up running 10 minutes as fast as I could across the airport. As I was getting off the plane. I kindly asked the flight attendants to let the gate agents know that we were running to the gate in hopes they could hold the door from closing to let us on. They responded "that isn't our problem" I asked that because it's been done before and I know the agents USUALLY go above and beyond for these connecting flights. Exceptional service is typically what Delta is known for in the past. It has been the reason I have been paying for years the extra money for their tickets to keep my status, but at this point, I feel like I'm just wasting money. After we got to the gate the boarding area in the screen said "boarding all customers" so I ran to the line thinking we made it by the good grace of the universe! I was then shouted at by Jarrett the operational service manager. To remove myself from the line area because the doors were closed. At this point I was in tears and I asked Jarrett if there was anything that could be done. I tried to tell him my experience and what happened and he proceeded to cut me off and say there isn't anything they can do and it isn't their fault. He said all of this with out even knowing the terrible service we have received up to this point. He didn't offer us any potential better solution or apologize for the service up to this point. He continued to say we were rebooked and all he can do is get us our boarding passes for our new flight. I expect way more from Delta because they are supposed to be a premium provider of experience and service. I've been nothing but disappointment time after time. My 14 hour travel day turned into a 24 hour travel day. I went from a comfort plus seat to the back of the plane on my international flight and was treated less than human. They delayed our flight by 3-1/2 hours from Seattle to San Diego. The first delay was due to fog, understandable. Connecting flight was coming from Spokane Then the pilots got timed out. At what point did delta realize that their pilots were going to time out? That seems to be a major scheduling issue. Very disappointed. This is not a very professional way to run a business. I most definitely will not recommend this airline. So sad, because it used to be one of the better airlines. read more

Horrifically bad customer service. If I could rate Delta negatively, I would. I made multiple attempts today to book roundtrip tickets for Delta flights from Seattle to London for November 7-29. I have been tracking Delta's prices all week, using miles, and the price has consistently, but not always, been approximately 72,000 miles and $217 per ticket (Main Classic). This morning the price was advertised at 48,000 miles and $217 per ticket. As a result, I immediately transferred 100,000 AmEx points to my Skymiles account. Once the transfer was confirmed, I then, on three separate occasions, completed the transaction, including seat selection, on the Delta website up to the point of payment. Each time I received a message back to try again later. When I called Delta customer service, I was told that the price is now 72,000 plus $217 per ticket. When I explained to customer service what had happened, they could not have been less interested in checking Deltas records to see what had been on their website 30 minutes prior (the time my call was placed on hold) or remedying the problem - I was simply told to pay 72,000 miles per ticket. I dont have 144,000 Skymiles, which is why I took advantage of the 48,000-mile advertised rate that was on the website today. I am happy to book my tickets with a different airline, but I will be out 100,000 AmEx points, which I transferred solely based on the information on the Delta website throughout the day. This is "bait and switch" in the extreme. Buyer beware. read more

I strongly recommend traveling with a different airline. They are a dishonest company that won't adhere to their own policies. My flight from MCO to SEA was delayed 7 times until it was finally canceled at 1 am delaying my arrival by 24 hours. The pilots came to the gate and announced that at first, the plane had mechanical issues, something was wrong with the communications box so they delayed the flight to repair it. By the time that was resolved, the staff timed out and our flight kept getting delayed every 30 minutes in the hopes that incoming flight attendants would be willing to do one more 6-hour flight to the West Coast. No takers, the pilots gave up trying to ask others around 1 am and officially canceled the flight. Delta's company policy states that reimbursements must be made through a form submission and that they won't be compensating for delays/cancellations if it was due to the weather, but some things they will consider like mechanical issues and staffing shortages. I submitted my case for extra incurred charges (mostly food, a small hotel charge, and extra airport parking fees incurred from me picking up my vehicle late) which all fit in their policy to receive reimbursement ( transportation, food, and lodging categories and reasoning for the delayed arrival). They rejected my request saying that my flight was canceled due to bad weather and closed my case. I reached out stating that that information was inaccurate and explained what had happened and even mentioned that they had other delta flights at nearby gates taking off during my 7-hour wait at the departure gate. Not only did they stick to their guns saying it was bad weather to weasel their way out of honoring their own company policy, but they basically are calling their pilots dishonest which is pitiful. I was told that they could give me a $50 travel voucher which is not even in the slightest a reimbursement, they didn't even want to offer me an additional $50 for my husband. They cost us an extra $454, and want to give us $50 which in order to redeem it, we would have to spend even more money from this shit show. Never again with delta. read more

Flew from Seattle to our destination and I felt quite uncomfortable. Had an aisle seat with enough room to walk down the aisle and for people to not bump into your chair. However, the seat room for your knees feel awful. Im short, 4' 11" and I have ankle problems, so i need to stretch my legs out every once in a while. No matter how comfortably forward the person in front of me went, my knees kept barely touching the seat. The taller you are, the worse im sure you will feel. Flight attendants and pilot were nice. Greeted us as we entered the plane and farewelled us as we left the plane. The service they provide has kept us entertained. Free wifi, free shows, free movies, free LIVE TV and free games. You can access shows such as fro. HBO, Disney, and Hulu, but they limit how many shows from each servive they provide and only specify certain episodes you can watch. They have a wide selection of movies from current to oldies, especially the newer ones that just came out in theater. Not too much fun games you can play. Mostly mind puzzle games to keep your mind at ease and working while youre vacationing. read more

Superior service from this Skyteam member! Delta airlines has created such a welcoming experience for many passengers even during the Covid-19 era. The staff are very friendly and supportive. You feel a sense of safety as sanitation is a main priority now. I normally fly with United Airlines which is a Star Alliance member but I wanted to also try Delta which is another fan favorite when flying any American air carrier. Right away after my trip from Asia, Delta airline representative waited at the gate and ensured directions to our connecting flights. Delta and Alaska are both main operators here at SeaTac. So we booked a flight on Delta Airlines from SeaTac to Honolulu. The flight leaves or it was supposed to leave on January 10 at 5 PM. On our way to the airport, we get a text telling us that the flight has been delayed by five hours and is now leaving at 10:47 PM. That's not the reason for the one star. The reason for the one star is once we got to the airport. It was no, no, no, no! We couldn't check in early, we couldn't change our flight, we couldn't get a refund, and we couldn't spend the night in any of their hotels. And to make matters worse, the dumbasses that rescheduled our flight have us leaving. SeaTac airport at almost 11 PM, and then we're going to arrive at Honolulu international airport at 3 AM. What dumbass doesn't know how to tell time? They have us arriving there at 3 AM, so we have to call our family and ask to come pick us up at the airport at 3 o'clock in the morning. While the flights were fine for the most part, I experienced multiple delays ranging from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours and received almost 0 communication from the gate agents, flight crew or the delta airlines app, which tended to be a little slow at least half the times I tried to use it. The inflight service was fine. It was pretty standard for a domestic flight in economy class. My IFE for 2 of the 5 flights I was on recently wasn't working however. Thankfully I had backup options on my personal device. The tickets were also incredibly expensive. I don't understand why Delta charges so much for tickets when I get an experience that is no different than any other airline. When I went to the Delta and other websites, they told me the flight is quite late. I tried to communicate with Delta to confirm what is correct and they refused to give me any information unless I have the ticket number or confirmation number. (Happy Wife Happy Life) Every flight experience gets worse and worse! Complacency is rampant and no one seems to have a problem with it! Is this Spirit Airlines...I'm confused! I heard they suck but these guys might just be worse! We asked 3 times for accommodations and received them only once. I have MS and it's very difficult to walk. They seem to have lost all sense of accountability. I am 6'10" my wife is 6'2" and we asked for exit seats for additional legroom since we're flying coach. When the agent set the seats she failed to take into consideration which exit seats had additional legroom and which ones didn't. In attempt to make up for the screw up, they wanted to separate me from me wife and/or put me in the midst of a family, breaking them up. Delta Airlines from Seattle to Los Angeles last Sunday, Mother's Day had the last flight for the evening and the plane was jammed packed with passengers during COVID19 pandemic. Visited my terminally ill Mom for Mother's Day, and risked my health by traveling by plane. This was the last flight out and although all Delta crew and passengers had face masks, the physical distancing rule of 6 feet apart was not practiced once inside the plane. Seats in business class had passengers in front and behind each passenger, definitely NOT 6 feet space between them. ie I had an empty seat to my right and left of me, but less than an arm's length of people in front and behind me. The main cabin with economy seats were practically every seat filled, no social distancing what so ever. No more hot meals or hot or iced drinks poured and served. Food and drinks were individually packed for each passenger were individual Purell sanitizing packs issued. Delta tried to o make this best of y TY hints given the situation. The airline crew were friendly and helpful. The plane seemed cleaner. But with this microscopic virus, bring in a packed plane with circulated air, ewww, I really hope I don't get sick as a result. It was important I visited my very sick Mom, and it was likely her last Mother's Day and I don't regret my visit. Surely hope I don't contract COVID19 as a result of bring on a plane packed with people not properly wearing their face masks and no social and physical distancing. This airline and other airlines has been economically impacted just as many people's health already have been. A possible solution: if every person wore an astronaut type sealed suit with your own oxygen. The suit would contain any possibility of germs being breathed in and out. With this hazmat type suit, social distancing is a non issue and everyone can sit next to each, jammed packed in a plane, train or auto! read more

I can see by the other comments and reviews we all get screwed by this once good airline. Just payed over 4000 dollars for 1st class three leg trip. Get on plane and told "oh we short on food and snacks, right off the bat...then not served any drinks on the ground or over 30 mins in the air. Then asked for blanket and was told oh we don't have any of those. (Mind you 5 am flight first of the day) so not like they run out before they start the day. Then lifted up my table to eat the few items they had and find a very gross and sticky mess on the bottom of the table and found it after it stuck to my leg (see pic) then brought out a very small tray of snacks not even enough for the whole 1st class. This was the first time I flew Delta long haul, I would never recomend them to anyone. I had flight attendants offending us onboard, the plane was dirty (see pic attached). The airport staff will absolutely do nothing to help you, if they have the opportunity to offend you or make a joke on your expense, they will. The worst of it all, my seat was broken for a 9 hour long flight, Delta's response was to give me a USD25 voucher for that inconvenience, that says it all. The flight attendants will also do nothing about your issues, they keep telling you to go to Delta.com, which we did and never got a response. My advice is to avoid them at all costs. read more

April 5th I stood in line an hour before my flight to check my bags with 3 people in front of me in the line. When I finally reached the counter, she said a new policy required bags to be checked in 45 minutes before a flight and I only had 3 minutes left to check my bag in that time window. I asked to have my bags checked. She then said she would have to rebook me. She rebooked my non stop 2 1/2 hour flight to a flight leaving 4 hours later with layovers that would extend the flight almost 7 additional hours. That flight was then delayed almost two hours. When it was almost time for that delayed flight to leave, they said they had transferred me to Alaska Airlines. I had to walk the whole terminal to get to Alaska and was then told that flight would not be leaving until 2 hours later. When I arrived at my destination I spent an hour waiting for my luggage, standing in line for assistance etc. and eventually leaving without my luggage. After hours of phone calls I found my luggage was not transferred with me to Alaska Airlines and was on a Delta flight to Salt Lake City. Delta refused to reimburse my bag fees. I paid to have my bag transported. Due to DELTA's error of putting my luggage on a plane I was not on I did not have my bag upon arrival. I suffered the inconvenience and loss of time waiting for my bag at the airport and hours on the phone trying to trace my bag. Delta somehow determined that I should just suck up the cost of THEIR error in putting my bag on the wrong plane. If I could give zero stars for this experience, I would. read more

I was an American Airlines customer for many years, I've flown in more airlines than I can remember many of them defunct, PanAm, Braniff, Continental, America West, PSA, Eastern, TWA, and the list goes on, there are 3, maybe 4 viable US airline options left if you fly internationally and want to accrue miles and status, each has its strengths and weaknesses, as of now Delta Airlines is one of the most onerous, complicated and hardest to get status on, and use your miles too, the easiest is Alaska Airlines, However, as I am currently based in Seattle, as a whole Delta offers a better overall product, hands down the best lounges in the US, with 2 in Seattle, sadly none in LAS, best connections from SEA, generally less expensive than Alaska Airlines, and one of the best when it comes to customer service, friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable crew, great food and premium drinks at SkyClubs, up at 30,000+ feet not that much. I prefer to fly Delta to Envoy, Skywest, or Compass, regional airlines that Delta, United, American contract with short haul flights, mainly because of cabin cleannesses, or lack there off, other than that service is as good as the mayor airlines, and safety is top notch as well. There is one benefit on flying commuter, E175's cabins are 1+2 on first class, and 2+2 on economy though seat pitch and width are less, not having a middle seat might be to your liking, other than that prefer the larger narrow body planes for domestic flights like the 757's. Delta's service is far superior to the other US airlines, and are aggressively improving in all aspects, ultimately offering a better experience, something that had been lost after deregulation. If you fly to Asia, and/or Europe, Delta is one of the best options from Seattle, yes, there are dozens of International carriers with great service, however if you plan on earning miles, you'll usually get less value even with partner airlines, be it SkyTeam, OneWorld, or Star Alliance, with few exceptions you'll get most value flying with your domestic airline, unless you frequently fly to international destinations. Lastly, Delta has one of the best amenity bags in the industry, who doesn't love their Tummi bags! read more

All day our flights have been delayed. When they finally cancelled the flight, it was 9pm. Delta did not do anything for us passengers. Left us all on our own. Very unprofessional and a little unethical. After this trip, I will never fly Delta again. I will also tell anyone that will listen, not to fly Delta as well. Horrible customer service. Delta is my favorite airlines. I downloaded the phone App and book only through it. Great way to earn points for free upgrades or flights.. If you fly often it pay to go through the airline for perks instead of travel sites. read more

Bottom line: it's one of the better airlines when it comes to checkin and service in the air. Although the checkin lines are relatively long, normally the airlines surges employees to get the lines moving. App check-in: still a bit fickle. Doesn't really like a lot of change inputs. But it gives you accurate and up to date information so highly recommend you use it. Also let's you know what baggage claim your bags will be coming out at. A very nifty function. Baggage claim: takes a bit longer then other airlines and there really isn't a "guarantee" to get it to you in certain time. Plan accordingly on the other end. read more
