I wanted to try their pancakes but didn't want a full stack, and our server Robin was wonderful in recommending the Sweet Start. One thing we really appreciated is that all breakfast entrees include coffee or tea, and the prices are already very reasonable. We were also pleasantly surprised to learn that even though we ordered specialty coffees, we could still enjoy complimentary refills of regular coffee. The restaurant has a charming and unique atmosphere, with every table looking a little different from the next. For my meal, I ordered the Sweet Start, which included one pancake, eggs, and bacon. I also appreciated the transparency from the staff. When I asked for an extra serving of their homemade pecan butter, I was informed upfront that there would be an additional charge....a level of honesty that's surprisingly rare these days. My husband ordered the Banana Nut French Toast comes with homemade whipped cream and homemade pecan butter, which also came with bacon. He added a side of eggs as well. Everything was delicious. I'm especially particular about pancakes, and I can honestly say they serve some of the best pancakes I've had. The food was excellent, the service was friendly and attentive, and what stood out most was how genuinely happy all the staff seemed to be. It created a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made our visit even more enjoyable. We would definitely return the next time we're in the area.

We perused what items we could eat - yikes if only they offered black bean patties as a substitute. We then checked their health department ratings (available on their Yelp page) and decided not to eat there. We hope their health department issues get resolved, and that their ratings climb up significantly!

I write a lot of reviews, and I don't throw around a statement like this lightly. My reviews have…read moreeven made their way into print magazines and newspapers over the years, so when I say this is the best breakfast place I have ever eaten at in my entire life, I mean it. I went with the Black Bear Sampler, and this thing came out in a cast-iron skillet looking like breakfast had decided to show off. Eggs, ham, bacon, sausage gravy, grits, potatoes, biscuit--the whole works. And somehow, instead of being a giant pile of average food, everything was fantastic. That's what impressed me most. Plenty of places can make one great breakfast item. When you order a sampler this big, usually something gets left behind. Not here. Every part of it earned its spot in that skillet. The portions are huge, the food is excellent, and this is exactly what I picture when I think of a real Smoky Mountain breakfast: hearty, simple, and done right. I've eaten breakfast in a lot of places over a lot of years. This one is now the measuring stick. Absolutely fantastic. I can't wait to come back.

Either way, I'm here for it. Wooden floors, antique cookpots, and a newspaper like menu. It's cozy and outdoorsy all at once. The food is hearty--think skillets, mammoth cinnamon rolls, and pancakes as big as your head. It's the kinda spot you'll want to save for a hungry morning! The service was friendly and the prices are reasonable. Get to it!

After dealing with the dog we checked the reviews and they were good so we decided to stay here and eat. We all really enjoyed our breakfasts. I got the breakfast with biscuits and gravy, even though she said they don't make the biscuits in house. It was very good. I also got grits and scrambled eggs. My husband got 2 eggs over easy with English muffins, bacon and grits. Our son got the breakfast with pancakes. The service was excellent and the interior was cute. Read my reviews and you'll see that B&G is a frequent mention, especially when I travel away from home. And if there was a Mount Rushmore for B&G, I'm would put Family Ties' up on it... right next to Mom's Restaurant in Franklin, Ohio (formerly located in Red Lion). , Small order for $4.95. Large for $5.95. I added two eggs over easy. This is 2026 pricing! The plate came out looking unassuming. I ordered a small plate which is one open face biscuit with plenty of Gravy on top. (I didn't take a pic because I was in the small booth next to what I assume is the back door. The sun was casting shadows so I missed a great photo op). Looks are deceiving. This is some seriously good stuff. So simple but Sooooooo Good. Please don't ever change this recipe. I will be back!
