This was my first time having Detroit-style pizza in Detroit, and Buddy's absolutely lived up to the hype. Without question, it's the best Detroit-style pizza I've ever had. Every bite was like an explosion of cheesy, crispy, comforting goodness. The crust was perfectly soft and airy on the inside with those incredible caramelized cheese edges that gave every bite an amazing crunch. Just a heads-up, this isn't fast food. Since it's a thick pan pizza made fresh, expect to wait a little longer, but it's 100% worth every minute. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the history of the restaurant, which made the experience even better. I also had my first Michigan Mule, and it did not disappoint! From the outside, it wasn't immediately obvious where to enter, but once inside, I was blown away. The walls are packed with decades of memorabilia, articles, awards, murals, and the story of how Detroit-style pizza was born. It felt like eating in a piece of pizza history, not just another restaurant. As someone who has eaten Detroit-style pizza back home, I can already tell every future slice will be measured against Buddy's, and that's a tough standard to beat. If you want authentic Detroit-style pizza from the place that started it all, this is a must-visit. Thank you, Buddy's, for an unforgettable meal. Not this guy. I ordered a meat deluxe pizza, 8 square, and it was as always, crispy, cheesy, meaty and delicious. This pizza is by far the best Detroit has to offer. I love coming to Buddy's when we I'm in town, and every time I come, it is consistently delicious. If you've never had a Buddy's pizza, do yourself a favor, go get one. They recently renovated the interior, and I do really like the update--using lighter colors has brightened the space and made it feel more modern. Unfortunately, a recent experience seriously impacted my opinion. I called to place a takeout order for about five people from my workplace, and the young man who answered the phone--Adrian--was extremely rude. He seemed impatient from the start, and by the time I was giving the third order, he began huffing and puffing, talking over me, and rushing me. Before I could even finish, he hung up on me. His coworkers were saying his name in the background, which is how I learned who he was. Adrian's behavior showed a complete lack of basic customer service and professionalism, and it did not represent Maine Street well at all. If answering phones and taking orders is part of the job, then patience and respect should be a given. Adrian needs serious improvement in customer service, because that interaction alone was enough to make me reconsider ordering again. On a lighter note, this place has long been part of the fabric of Hamtramck, and that's why this experience was so disappointing. Hamtramck has always taken pride in its local spots, community, and hospitality, and I hope Maine Street gets back to reflecting the warmth and care that made so many of us loyal customers for years.

Food quality didn't help: the mac and cheese was dry, the mashed potatoes were overly salty and tasted boxed (despite the menu claiming red skin potatoes), the broccoli was salty and mushy, and while the steak was decent, it was also salty.
